Summary:
"You… you okay, little man?” She hated how her voice sounded. She wasn’t good with kids; that was Freddy’s job; but Freddy was just a decapitated head right now, his power drained, sitting in the backseat, and all the other animatronics were gone.
Still, her words seemed to do something. Gregory shifted, leaning back slightly from the window, and then turned slowly to face her instead. Her chest clenched just a little as his eyes came into view; there was saltwater there, in front of the hazel, threatening to spill out over cheeks that were starting to quiver.
Her throat felt dry. All the time in the mall, with the robots on the fritz and her at her worst, bouncing between taking her frustrations out and whatever Vanny did, she hadn’t seen him cry.
In the immediate aftermath, it's just the two of them.
