Chapter Text

Many years ago there lived a man with hair that shone brighter than the heavens and held eyes brighter than the sky we live under. His name was Philza Watson a simple peasant living in a fucked up nation controlled by a man that didn't know what he was doing, banishing hybrids from the land and killing the ones that still lingered, the king was the real devil. Philza was a man of honour doing what he could for his nation showing people men can have a heart of gold. He knew one day the heavens would reward him for doing good things. After many long years of labor and hardship writing books and newspapers, he was called upon a visit from the emperor himself.
The emperor offered him a pay Philza could not turn down. He knew it was wrong to work for such a heartless man, but he needed the income. His grandmother couldn't lift a pile of wood or read.
Philza needed this.
He spent many years working for the emperor and watched the man become something worse than a drunken ruler.
A letter arrived one day informing him of his late grandmother's passing.
He tried so hard to go home to bury his last and only relative but the emperor refused and exclaimed "A real man would be bittersweet about a passing. That woman was merely a servant to my empire"
That was a tipping point for the young Philza who swore to rip the emperor's heart out with his own hands.
Philza cried that night heartbroken the only family he ever had was now in the heavens with his parents, he wished to join them.
That night the heavens gifted him the strength of 100 men and wings that were darker than the night sky.

Phil only read about avians from hundreds of years ago but died out due to hunters using their wings as trophies to hang on their walls.

That morning before the servants woke at the rooster to start the daily chores Philza snuck into the emperor's room knowing the man would be passed out from the previous night after drinking his greed away, Philza took the man's crown placing it atop his head and put one of the many royal attires the emperor had owned. Wearing a black silk kimono with green flowers that adorned the back of the silk clothing. Philza walked to the throne room with the late emperor's head hung from his hand opening the grand doors of the throne room and throwing the deceased man's head on the floor as blood poured from the man's now cut throat. Philza walked with a smirk on his face to the throne, he knew at that moment he was king and no men would fight the most powerful and if not only hybrid in the land. After many years as an emperor, many feared to speak badly about the man for fear he would kill them the same way he left the last emperor. He became a respected man in the empire and more hybrids started becoming a less rare sight to see within the empire border, unlike the years prior.
The emperor met a girl as beautiful as the flowers that grew over the land like she was Demeters child. The pair grew closer and eventually, wedding bells rang throughout the land confirming the pair's union. Naming his wife Empress Kristin, she ruled with kindness and smiles everyone adored the empress. But loved their sons more than anything.

Prince Technoblade was the emperor's first son and was gifted in the art of combat and poetry. And wings that were a baby pink color with white tips at the bottom of his wings. Eyes as red as freshly dripped blood.
Then there was Prince Wilbur gifted with musical talent and good looks. Deep brown wings adorned his back along with brown eyes the color of mud and bark.
Prince Tommy was the youngest of the three brothers and had a smart mouth with a way of making enemies. Wings the color of freshly fallen snow but smaller than the average teen boy.

A year after Prince Tommy's birth the empress gave birth to another child. A daughter was born with black hair and her mother's purple eyes along with wings that you could swear were pure gold. And peculiar black lines beneath her eyes that looked almost of magic.
They named her Princess Tallulah.
Her brothers loved holding her and watching her Kristin their mother rocked Tallulah to sleep and burped her after feeding, the brothers adored their sister along with her parents. The emperor especially,
he cherished everything of his only daughter. One night while the family slept in their nest they occasionally slept in together Tallulah was taken by a black figure that came and went with the wind never to be seen again.

The Emperor was distraught sending out a three week search party for his kidnapped daughter but nothing was found of the young princess. The family knew they would remember her but Tallulah would have no recollection her family. They prayed to the gods for weeks that if their daughter was still out there to make her remember the palace she was taken from.

But being kidnapped at 3 isnt something that sticks with you.

Tallulahs kidnappers simply took her as ransom but when the plan backfired she was left on the doorstep of a mother and son. The lady had white hair with ram horns atop her head and hooves for feet. She smelt of flowers and honey while her son had golden blonde hair that you swore glowed in the dark.
The woman took Tallulah unsure of anything of her past named her Alyssa.

Tallulah grew to acknowledge her name as Alyssa and forgot about her past completely.
Alyssa grew up alongside her mother puffy and older brother Dream and his friends George and Sapnap. They taught her to read and write showing her basic skills any child would need like how to swordfight because a peasant girl will no doubt in mind need as a life skill.
She lived a normal life as a lower-class girl and thought nothing of it until now...

Wake up Tallulah....

Alyssa sat up in bed drenched in sweat and hair moist.

'Another dream' she thinks to herself standing up and out of bed walking to the bathroom splashing some water on her face and looking at herself in the mirror.

'Why do I keep having these dreams...who is that woman in my dreams.' thoughts ran through her mind as if they were moving at 100 miles an hour.

She finishes up in the bathroom walking back to her room closing the door behind her as she walked to her dresser putting on some black pants and a white blouse. She wonders if maybe flying into town would be easier than walking all that way. Living half an hour from the village does wonders on your feet every morning when you have to walk to work every day. She knows Mom is probably at the bakery with Niki opening shop. But knows Mom wouldn't appreciate seeing her daughter fly around instead of being formal, she knows Puffy just doesn't want her to get hurt and she understands that. The last time she flew to the villiage a gaurd almost saw her. Alyssa wonders often if the royal family found out some peasant girl was also gifted with wings but she also wonders if she could be given a royal title if she came forward. But then again she also does not feel like being executed by the king or his sons.
She walks to the door putting her boots on ready for her long trek into town.
Alyssa stepped outside taking a breath of fresh before heading down the path into town, she misses Dream but hes off hunting with George and Sapnap so it's just been her, Niki, and Puffy.
Not that she minds it it just gets boring without her brothers. Well not biological family but their the only family she has since her old family dumped her on a doorstep.
Her thoughts eventually trace back to her dream. Why does she keep having them?
Her thoughts get cut off by two men on horses racing past her stumbling back a bit she looks up to see a guy with brown hair and a kid that didn't look much younger than her almost out of view.
"Dipshits" Alyssa muttered under her breath.

She eventually reached town opening the door to the bakery already saw Niki standing behind the counter smiling "Hey Alyssa" Niki said smiling warmly Alyssa replied with a quiet hello before heading into the back room to see Puffy wiping the counters off "Hey mom" Alyssa said yawning "well someones tired what did you do last night anyway? I heard a lot of banging in the kitchen" Puffy said turning around from the counter rag still in hand. "I tried making cupcakes for when Dream got back as a surprise but i kinda made all the pans fall out of the cuboard so i put them away and wne to bed after that" Alyssa said nervously. "well im glad your okay. We also got an order today" Puffy said excitedly "you seem happy. What was the order" Alyssa asked curious
"The emperor is in town for the weekend and hes offering us a lot of momey to cater the harvest moon banquet!" Puffy shouted jumping up and down.
Alyssa finds it odd the imperial family would be here on vacation she understands it's the 13 anniversary of the late princess going missing but wouldn't a greiving family be at home? Unless its an attempt to look for their daughter but why would she be here of all places she hasnt met a girl that looked like the princess but then again the only thing the kingdom has of the girl was an unfinished portrait of the girl the painter swore he would finish the next morning the day before the princess went missing.
"Don't you find it a bit odd the royal family came to a small town to look for their daughter who we dont even know is alive?" Alyssa asked trying to be logical about the situation
"it may be odd love but we have to have hope the princess is still alive. Also the king requested all girls around 16 to attend in hopes of finding his daughter" puffy exclaimed

"okay will do mom" Alyssa said before walking out to the front counter with Niki, Alyssa often thought about how Niki can put on such a big smile even when shes having rough days.
The rest of the day went pretty normal apart from a weird stranger that would come into the bakery every now and then. But it was finally time to close shop and Alyssa was happy the day was over turning in her hours for the week and walking out of the bakery. Niki had left a while ago since she had to pick out her dress for the banquet tonight Alyssas thought were interrupted by a fancy looking carriage pulling up not too far ahead of her as she walked through town.

"Dad! You said we could explore for a little while before the banquet!" screamed a rather loud teenage boy stepping out of the carriage, Alyssa noticed him from earlier he was the one that almost ran over with a horse earlier "Tommy! Get back in this carriage!" a man said screaming out the carriage of the window they were both equally dressed fancy maybe they were going to the banquet? She was cut off by the feeling of getting smashed into a brick wall realizing she had just been run into by the kid and fell to the floow "Ow..." Alyssa exclaimed holding her head.

"oh my lord are you okay?" The kid screamed at Alyssa before helping her up blabbering a bunch of 'sorrys' and 'are you okays' "Yeah im good just...have a headache" alyssa said holding her now concussed head. the man with golden hair steps out of the carriage and walks over to alyssa a pat on the shoulder sitting her down on a nearby bench.
"Im sorry mate my sons just excited to be somewhere new. Let me get a look of that head make sure you arent bruising" The man said with a sweet expression
Alyssa eventually lifts her head up looking up at the man uncovering her face the man froze upon seeing Alyssas eyes which only confused her more than the current situation did.
"Wow. I've never seen purple eyes on anyone else but my wife" the man said in awe as if trying to peice something togeather. "oh thanks...I guess?" Alyssa said feeling more uncomfortable by the minute.
"im sorry my name is Philza Watson" Alyssa looked up and down at the man realizing the man was the emperor "i am so sorry your majesty for mistaking you as a simple commonor" Alyssa said bowing.
"no need for that mate. call me Phil" the emperor said holding out a hand to shake "okay...Phil it was nice to meet you" Alyssa took Phils hand giving a quick nod and letting go.
"Well me and my son have a banquet to get to so i hope to see you there." Phil stepped back giving his son which alyssa now recognizes giving him a small smile which he returns before running up to the carriage with his dad.

I wonder why he looked so...Shocked? alyssa thought to herself before she remembered she has to run home and get ready for the banquet tonight.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Phil sat in the carriage grinning to himself. It took everything in him to not sweep up his precious daughter at that moment. He knows Kristin will be ecstatic when she hears that he found their daughter, he wonders what her brothers will think of the good news. But for now, he'll wait for the right moment.
Those eyes arent too hard to miss. Only his wife has those ender eyes. He made sure of that.

Oh how much his daughter has grown...Whatever life shes made for herself here in this town. He'll make sure she has no choice but to come back to the palace.

No matter what.

He WILL get his daughter back.

Chapter Text

The sun was just beginning to dip below the horizon when Alyssa reached home, breathless and flushed with nerves. She slammed the door shut behind her and leaned against it, her heart racing not just from the jog home—but from everything that had happened. From the boy on the horse, to the Emperor himself—Philza Watson. His name echoed in her skull like a melody she should’ve remembered.
His eyes, that smile, the way he looked at her…

She shook her head, forcing the thoughts away and rushing to her room. Puffy had laid out a dress earlier that week—cream-colored with faint lavender stitching and sheer sleeves that glimmered faintly in the light. She hated dresses, always had, but this one felt… different. Like it was made for her.

Maybe it was.

The corset was tight, the sleeves itched slightly, and she swore her wings were going to rip straight through the fabric—but when she looked in the mirror, she gasped. For a second—just a flicker—she didn’t look like Alyssa the baker’s daughter. She looked like someone else.

Someone who belonged to gold and violet skies.
Someone who once slept in a nest of feathers and silk.
Someone who was… meant for more.

The town square had been transformed. Lanterns were strung from every rooftop, glowing softly in the twilight. The air smelled of honeyed wine and roasting chestnuts. Tables were lined with food from every corner of the empire and violins sang lullabies into the cool evening air. Guards in sleek black armor flanked every entrance, their eyes scanning, always watching.

Alyssa approached the banquet tent with cautious steps. Her boots clacked softly against the cobblestone. She saw Niki ahead, laughing with a pair of girls near the drink table, and Puffy was speaking with one of the royal chefs, apron still around her waist.

She kept her wings tucked tightly under her coat, just in case. The fabric was thin, and she prayed to every god she knew it wouldn’t shift the wrong way.

The moment she stepped beneath the golden canopy, it was as if the world stopped turning.

The Emperor was already inside. So was the Empress.

Alyssa had seen her in paintings, of course. That long raven hair that fell like river silk, those lilac eyes almost identical to her own. Kristin Watson stood at her husband’s side, laughing softly with the townsfolk like she belonged here. Like she didn’t carry the weight of a thousand ghosts on her shoulders.

Then there were the princes. Tommy, still loud, still fidgeting—already stuffing his mouth with candied plums. Wilbur leaned against a pillar with a wineglass in hand, humming something under his breath. Technoblade sat silently beside his mother, posture still, hands resting lightly on the hilt of his ceremonial blade.

Alyssa’s steps slowed. She could feel their eyes—his eyes—on her. The Emperor wasn’t trying to hide it this time.

Philza watched her like a man seeing a star crash into the sea. Not with fear. With knowing.

“Alyssa,” a voice interrupted her thoughts. Niki appeared by her side, tugging her forward. “Come on! You’ll miss the toast.”

Alyssa allowed herself to be dragged forward, standing among the crowd as Philza raised his goblet.

“Thirteen years ago today,” he began, voice calm but filled with something deeper, “my family lost something… someone dear to us. We thought we’d never see her again. But the moon is full tonight. And the gods have a funny way of returning what was stolen.”

A murmur passed through the crowd.

Kristin’s eyes flicked to her husband.

Technoblade shifted.

Wilbur tilted his head, curious.

Philza turned to the gathered guests. “Tonight is not just about harvest or celebration. It is about hope. That no matter how far one may fall, no matter how many years may pass… family can be found again.”

His eyes met Alyssa’s once more.

A hush fell over the crowd as a servant passed by with a tray of small, glowing pastries. Alyssa plucked one, trying not to fidget. Her hands trembled. The dream was beginning to feel too real. Her heart pounded against her ribs like it was trying to claw its way out.

Then she felt it—faint, but there.

A hum.

A warmth in her chest.

Her wings tingled.

Kristin had risen, slowly walking toward her.

“I’m sorry,” Alyssa muttered under her breath, stepping backward.

“No need to be frightened, sweetheart,” the Empress said softly. “May I ask… what is your name?”

Alyssa opened her mouth but the sound got caught. Her throat felt dry. “Alyssa,” she managed, voice smaller than she expected.

Kristin’s eyes shone with tears. “You have your father’s stubbornness,” she whispered with a wobbly laugh. “And… my eyes.”

A pause.

“I—uh—I think you’re mistaken,” Alyssa tried, backing away, hands raised.

But Philza had joined his wife, and he stepped forward slowly. Not like a king—but like a father.

He held out a small object.

A golden locket.

Worn and slightly dented, but unmistakable. Alyssa didn’t know how—but her soul did. She reached out, as if possessed.

Inside was a drawing. A family of five. Three boys. A girl with black hair and purple eyes.

And her.

She staggered back, breath catching in her throat.

“This isn’t real,” she whispered.

“Oh, Tallulah…” Kristin said, stepping forward and cupping her face gently. “You’re finally home.”

Alyssa blinked once. Twice.

And then darkness crashed over her like a tidal wave.
