Chapter Text
Silco and Jinx are prepping for the morning inside of the Last Drop. Currently its sprinkling outside and its mostly quiet inside outside of Jinx moving things around.
“Jinx, have you put up the sign?” Silco asks as he walks out from the backroom.
“Yup!” Jinx says with a big smile.
“Good, thank you” Silco looks out the front windows to the coffee bar at the rain then sighs before going to the door and unlocking it.
Silco flips the closed sign to open and puts up a help wanted sign in the window.
“Hopefully we get someone soon” Jinx says with a sigh.
Out at a college campus not far from Piltover town a silver-haired man is rushing between two buildings trying to get less rain on him.
“Ed!”
The silver-haired man turns and sees his friend.
“Viktor!” Ed calls out “hurry I’ll hold the door”
Viktor chuckles and rushes over to him with his walking cane. Ed takes his arm once he gets closer and helps him up the stairs to the door. As they both get inside they sigh then look at each other and laugh.
“Got caught out in the rain you two?”
Viktor looks over and smiles.
“Yes love, its sprinkling for now but soon its going to downpour” Viktor shakes his head.
“Just now leaving your early morning training Jayce?” Ed asks as he looks slightly up to Jayce.
“Yeah I’m pretty worn out from yesterday’s class, its amazing but I’m struggling not to stay up and study” Jayce chuckles.
“I’m sure Viktor stops you” Ed says with a smile.
“I attempt” Viktor nods.
“I really want some coffee, you two?” Jayce asks.
“Coffee sounds amazing” Ed agrees “I’ll join you if thats fine”
“I would love an iced coffee but I have a session in twenty minutes. Can you pick me up an iced latte?” Viktor asks.
“I got you babe” Jayce leans over and kisses Viktor’s cheek “we will be back. Lets go Ed”
Soon Ed and Jayce get into his car and he drives out into Piltover.
“There are so many new places out here” Ed says as he watches out the window.
“Yeah a lot has changed since you left" Jayce chuckles “sorry I couldn’t help you find a better job right away”
“Nah I was kind of asking a lot of you and Viktor” Ed shakes his head “thanks for at least letting me sort some files for you”
“No problem, it's only been a few days I’m sure you’ll find something” Jayce says calmly then looks over “its over here”
Jayce parks in front of a coffee bar called The Last Drop.
“Rain isn’t letting up so I guess we are going to get wet again” Jayce looks disappointed but sighs then looks at Ed “ready to make a break for it?”
“Yeah lets do this” Ed laughs.
They both quickly run over to the door and Jayce opens it for them. They step in and both shiver briefly.
“HIYA!” Jinx greets them from behind the counter “Jayce whose the friendo?”
“Hey Jinx, meet Ed, Ed Jinx” Jayce introduces them “he just moved back recently, still getting settled”
“Nice to meet you” Ed says and Jinx looks amused.
“Nice hair, you two want towels?” Jinx asks and Jayce nods “dad!”
Ed looks around inside the coffee bar taking it in. Silco comes out from the back and looks over to Jinx while holding two towels then looks over to see Jayce and then a new face.
“Towel Mr. Talis?” Silco asks.
Ed looks over and they lock eyes, Silco smiles at Ed and Ed swallows hard. Jayce walks over and takes the towels then goes to hand one to Ed but sees him spacing out. Ed shakes it off and takes the towel then immediately puts it to his face.
“Rain due to get worse” Silco comments “stick around, dry off, Jinx coffees”
“Got it, Jayce you want your usual and taking one to go for your bae? Jinx asks.
“That be perfect” Jayce chuckles then looks over at Ed seeing his face still in the towel and he looks confused “you alright?”
“Yeah… just cold…” Ed whispers then moves the towel and Jayce sees his face is red “just need to dry off”
“Your face is red, you didn’t get a fever did you?” Jayce asks and Ed notices Silco watching with an amused look on his face.
Ed shakes his head then starts wiping off the rain and looks away.
“What can we get for you?” Silco asks.
“Something… strong but creamy” Ed says.
“Hmmm I think I can handle that” Silco says smoothly then gets behind the counter.
“Who… is that?” Ed whispers to Jayce.
“Ah, thats Silco, he is Jinx’s dad, owner of the place” Jayce whispers “and has been running the place since the week before you left, I think. Jinx is a good friend though, I think we told you about her didn’t we?”
Ed nods but looks over to Silco watching him delicately making a coffee just for Ed.
“He can be a little scary I guess but he is a nice dude” Jayce explains in a whisper.
“Jayce coffee” Jinx calls out.
“Lets grab coffees” Jayce says then walks over grabbing him coffee and sits at the coffee bar.
Ed moves over to Jayce and sits next to him. Soon Silco strides over and sets a mug of coffee in front of Ed.
“For while your here cafe au lait” Silco says smoothly “when you go I’ll give you something else”
Ed looks down at his cup then takes it and raises it to his mouth. Silco watches with interest. Jayce and Jinx are chatting next to them but it's like they are in their own world. Ed takes a sip then hums.
“Suit your fancy?” Silco coos.
Jayce and Jinx both look over and immediately made a low “oooo”.
Silco looks over with a soft glare.
“It's good” Ed says softly.
Jinx and Jayce both look at each other.
“You're coming again after this right?” Jinx asks.
“I suppose I wouldn’t mind” Ed agrees then looks at Jinx and sets down the cup “I just got back and I’m trying to find a job”
Jinx looks at Silco and Silco’s eyes briefly light up.
“What do you have experience with?” Silco asks.
Ed looks to Silco and looks interested.
“I graduated from the same university as Viktor and Jayce, studied graphic design and photography as hobbies but I have a degree in business” Ed explains.
“Interested in a job here?” Silco offers.
Ed perks up then looks at Jayce.
“You should jump on it” Jayce says.
“Take your time” Silco offers “job is open”
“I’ll… think about it” Ed nods.
After a while they leave with coffees in hand and Silco watches them as they leave.
“Are you going to flirt with him with your coffee and your eyes?” Jinx teases.
“He is quite pretty” Silco chuckles.
