Chapter 1: Hot N' Cold
Chapter Text
“'Cause you're hot then you're cold
You're yes then you're no
You're in then you're out
You're up then you're down
You're wrong when it's right”
Being a Beta wasn't so bad when you thought about it. No heat, no rut, no scent. No need to submit, no need to fight for pointless dominance. No reactions to pheromones, no need to wear a ridiculous collar to protect yourself from the risk of bites. No need for a nest, no need for suppressants, no problems.
Akko just smiled at the thought. She was the sixth-generation Beta in her family. The last Omega had been generations ago on both sides. And Akko wouldn't change a thing . If she had been an Omega, her second gender would have already manifested when she was 15. But she hadn't had anything. No more powerful pheromones, no stronger sensitivity, no instinctual trigger around Alphas. No signs of heat, no need to dominate.
Akko was a purebred 17-year-old Beta, going on 18, enjoying her time at Luna Nova without any problems. It allowed her to be in a dorm with Lotte, another Beta, and Sucy, an Alpha. It allowed her to see her Alpha friends relax with her, without fear of pheromones that might turn on their instincts despite the suppressants. No fights, no accidental heatstroke. Just their little group of nine, solidified since the missile crisis.
If Akko could have chosen her second gender, she would have automatically chosen Beta. Maybe Alpha afterward, just to be safe. But Omega?
She shuddered at the mere thought. Letting her instincts make her submit to an Alpha? Experiencing heats where she found herself dictated to by her inner Omega, begging her to…
“Ew, no!” She shook her head. Sucy raised an eyebrow as Lotte placed a hand on her shoulder.
“Akko, is everything okay?”
“I just had a thought that repulses me,” Akko stuck out her tongue in disgust. “Imagine if I were an Omega? Of course I have nothing against Omegas, slay Omegas I’m with you all and truly sweethearts but… Me?” Akko shook her hand, as if to push away the very concept. “Giving myself to an Alpha? Feeling the need to be… taken for…” Akko squeaked and covered her mouth with her hand as nausea seized her.
“You’d make a good Omega,” Sucy replied coldly without a smile, though Akko could sense the hint of mockery in her tone. “I could use my pheromones to use you as a guinea pig.”
“Sucy!” Lotte patted her shoulder. Sucy rolled her eyes and giggled, her slightly larger canines showing. Akko shuddered, unsure if Sucy was capable of it or not…
“Anyway, I'm a Beta, and thanks to the Nines, I don't know how I would have survived if I had been anything else,” she wiped a light smear of perspiration from her forehead. Was it her, or was it hot today?
“As far as we know, your second gender hasn't declared itself,” Sucy shrugged.
“Of course!” Akko stopped in the middle of the hallway and pivoted on her heels. She planted her feet firmly and placed her hands on her hips. “It declared itself by declaring nothing!”
Lotte and Sucy looked at each other in silence. Akko smiled a little wider and puffed out her chest.
“My family has been filled with Betas for generations! The Dynon O must have died out at least 75 years ago!”
“Knowing it's recessive, maybe it's still there?” Lotte asked, her index finger touching her chin as she looked outside.
“But no! I'm Beta, my parents are Betas, my parents' parents are Betas, the-...”
“You keep trying to justify it,” Sucy mocked, “like you're actually an Omega disguised as a Beta.”
“If I tell you I'm Beta!” Akko threw her arms in the air and groaned.
“As far as I know, you still haven't had your period. And Omegas don't have periods and…”
“They're coming! Soon! I can feel it! And I'll prove to you I'm Beta! And I'll spread my bl–”
“No, that's enough, this conversation is getting disgusting!” Lotte pushed Sucy and Akko towards the cafeteria. “Anyway, even if the O dynon was in Akko's family, there's little chance Akko would have the OO dynatype! That would be a miracle!”
“I'd call it a curse…” Akko groaned.
“Knowing her legendary bad luck, Akko would be able to have the OO dynatype without realizing it,” Sucy burst out laughing.
The dynatype was the hereditary heritage of an individual dependent on all the dynons. The dynon, itself, functioned like a gene but contained only the information of the secondary sex. The A and B dynons were dominant, while the O dynon was, as you understood, recessive. A person whose dynatype was AA will be an Alpha, a dynatype BB will give a Beta and of course a dynatype OO will give an Omega. Dynatypes can be hybrids, giving Alphas to the AB or AO dynatype, or Betas to the BA or BO dynatype. But an Omega?
An Omega will always and without exception have an OO dynatype.
“That’s not true!” Akko puffed out her cheeks.
“Do you know your dynatype?”
“No but–”
“Your parents’?”
“No, but I–”
“Your grandparents? On both sides?”
“Sucy!”
“Might I inquire as to what is happening here?” a loud voice asked, and Akko felt her heart skip a beat. She felt her hands getting sweatier, and she turned her head toward the blonde.
“Diana!”
The heiress frowned but couldn't help but smile. Barbara and Hannah, who were both Betas, followed close behind her.
“Good morning to the three of you. May I ask why you are shouting in the corridor at…” She grabbed her pocket watch, and honestly, Akko didn't even try to hide her gaze, which was carefully following the hand movement. “7:15? Akko, you are on time… Are you feeling unwell?” Diana asked, surprised. She placed her hand on Akko's forehead, and Akko thought her legs were going to give out.
“I uh… I had things to do?” Akko smiled and took a step back.
“It’s the weekend, and you’re awake before nine o’clock… Akko, if anything is amiss—”
“Diana, I promise I'm fine! I was just… Really hot this morning and couldn't get back to sleep! You know, summer's coming and we just started our third year and…” Akko backed away a little further before stopping when Diana took her hand.
“If you are truly unwell, you must tell me. As one of the student council presidents, it is my responsibility to—”
“You do realise you were my friend before you became president?” Akko laughed.
But Diana didn't laugh.
“As I was saying,” Diana continued, and Akko was restraining herself from rolling her eyes, “it is my duty to ensure the well-being of the student body. And as a Cavendish, I am obliged to do so, and…”
Akko's eyes flicked slightly to Barbara and Hannah, who were laughing behind Diana. The Alpha didn't seem to notice, too focused on her speech about blah blah blah, duties, blah blah blah, responsibility...
Then it hit her.
“Diana, did you change your perfume today?”
Diana stopped talking. The question disconcerted her so much that she opened and closed her mouth.
“I… No, I mean–”
“Really?” Akko frowned. “Yet I swear you actually smell nice. Like… Spring. You know, when the weather's nice, and you hang your laundry out to dry and you can just relax and it feels great knowing it's nice out so you match the sun and it suits you to be described as sunny weather and–”
“Akko, you can give your compliments later, you're killing her,” Sucy grumbled.
“What but–” Akko was tugged by the arm and she just had time to notice that the smell seemed slightly stronger, while Diana's entire face turned red…
And Sucy had noticed that.
It seems Akko is full of luck, and this third year at Luna Nova was going to be… interesting.
When Akko woke up a few days later, she felt a tremendous pain in her mouth. She moaned in pain and rubbed her lips. She could feel the swelling of her gums over her upper canines.
“You must have eaten too many sweets,” Sucy theorized without even looking up from her book.
“I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about…” Akko grumbled as Lotte placed an ice pack on her cheek.
“You've been gorging yourself on pastries for almost a week, Akko. Don't be surprised if you get something like a cavity. When was the last time you brushed your teeth?” Sucy pinched her side and Akko squeaked, only to moan in pain again.
“Sucy!”
“What! You think about it too!” Sucy turned, showing her back as she reread her last mushroom entry.
“Think about what?” Akko asked.
“Nothing, nothing…” Lotte reassured her. “How are you feeling?”
“Bad…” Akko pouted. “Maybe I should go see Diana, she’ll know what to do—”
“Bad idea,” Sucy cut her off, still turned away.
“And why not?”
“Bad idea, I tell you.”
“Sucy, stop,” Lotte demanded again.
Akko groaned in pain and lay back down in bed, huddling under her comforter.
“I can't believe I have a toothache on the day of Finnelan's test…”
“Maybe it would be better for you to stay here…” Lotte sat down next to Akko. She ran a hand through her tousled hair, and Akko, who usually enjoyed this, found herself squirming to move away. It was all too much.
Too hot.
Too painful.
Too sensitive.
“No, I'll come. I'll just take a painkiller and avoid talking and…” Akko got out of bed and stumbled. Lotte caught her before impact.
“I think you're starting to get a fever…” Lotte sighed and gently rubbed her thumb across Akko's forehead, causing her to grumble. The brunette forced herself to stay on her feet, trying to walk towards her desk. Her heart was pounding in her ears, her breathing was rapid, but she persisted and remained standing.
“Nothing can bring down Atsuko Kagari—” She muttered as she opened a drawer. She heard Sucy snicker and Lotte punch her in the ribs. “What? what did you say?”
“Nothing—” Lotte smiled at her quickly as Sucy couldn't help but laugh. Lotte stared at her.
“Oh, come on, it's still a little funny!” Sucy defended herself. “I mean, look at her! It's a good thing she shares a dorm with me.”
“That's right, how lucky to be on the same team as you and to be scared every morning of having swallowed an unknown potion,” Akko groaned as she undressed. Her shirt stuck to her back and she almost stumbled backward when she raised her arms too high. Lotte caught her just in time.
“Akko, maybe you should stay in bed today—”
“I'm fine, just let the medicine work!”
“What if it gets worse?”
“Even with a fever, I'll go to class!”
“Aren't you usually the first one to follow Amanda when she suggests skipping, only to have Diana pull you by the collar?” Sucy couldn't stop laughing. Akko pouted.
“The difference is that cutting out is a purely personal choice. Being sick and having to stay in bed? It’s imposed on me! And I refuse to let my body dictate who I am or what I should do!”
“That's… a spirit to have…” Lotte tried a shy smile.
“Quite ironic, don’t you think?” Sucy added.
Akko ignored the discussion behind her and slipped into her shirt. She had barely started to button it when her body screamed at her to take it off, fever making her shiver. She looked towards her bed.
I could just lie in bed, naked, enjoying the breeze outside. Open my window, curl up, and just tou--...
Her thoughts began to drift toward something far too crude for her own good. She slammed her hands on the desk and grabbed her bag.
“Let’s go!”
“A-Akko! You forgot your skirt!”
“Is she okay?”
“Honestly, we don’t know…” Lotte sighed.
“Of course we know, and it will be better… In a week.”
All faces left Akko's exhausted form to look at Sucy.
“A week?” Amanda asked with a smirk. “I can't believe she got sick when the nice weather arrived, what a loser.”
“It was the perfect weather for flying, especially since she had trained so hard… I don't even know if we'll be able to participate in the relay race this year—”
“Of course we can!” Akko exclaimed, standing up. She felt dizzy and Diana forced her to sit down, and boy did she smell so good…
“Akko, I am not entirely certain this is a wise decision…” The Alpha touched Akko's forehead. “Your fever is not subsiding. Perhaps you should return to your dormitory and—”
Akko had stopped listening to her. She closed her eyes and enjoyed the scent of lavender enveloping her like a blanket. She found herself leaning a little deeper into the touch before the pain in her gum made her groan and pull away. She pressed her forehead against the desk and sighed.
“It will get better… It just needs to… take effect…”
“Akko, that's not reasonable—” Diana tried, but Akko looked at her from the corner.
“Ten minutes. Give me ten minutes and I'll feel better. And lots of water because it's really hot…”
Akko was under everyone's watch for the requested time. And as she had predicted, the pain was beginning to fade. The fever had subsided, but the heat the brunette felt persisted.
But hey, at least she didn't want to fall anymore. And she hoped she could concentrate. At least just a little.
She reread the question once.
Twice.
Eight times.
The problem wasn't the question. She had the answer, right on the tip of her tongue, about to emerge from the lead of her pencil. But for some unknown reason, she couldn't get it out. She groaned slightly, earning a worried look from Lotte as she felt beads of perspiration trickle down her temple. She wiped her sweaty hands on her skirt and crossed her legs.
Bad idea.
No sooner had the pressure set in than her body shook. It started in her lower back and ran up her spine before her shoulders hunched, causing her to twist on her desk.
Then the smell.
The smell.
The distinct lavender seemed slightly faded, the hint of tea stale as if it had been in water too long. Akko recognized the scent of stress, and she looked up at Diana's hair and sighed. The heiress was standing straight, and Akko could just see her elbow moving. But the smell?
Akko leaned in a little further without realizing it. Her pupils dilated slightly as the pressure between her legs increased. There was something about Diana's scent that made her body move closer, to embrace her, to hide her head in her neck and…
“Akko, what are you doing…?” Lotte asked, tugging at Akko’s skirt. “Sit down, Finnelan will see you…”
“Eh? I…” Akko stammered.
“You look like you're this close to jumping Cavendish,” Sucy couldn't help but laugh. Akko blushed furiously and sat back down, her back straight. She could see Diana's shoulders had tensed, and a feeling of guilt washed over her. She had heard…
Ugh, what's happening to me … Akko ran a hand over her face and looked away. No one seemed to have noticed her little scene. She refocused on her control, trying to forget this disaster.
But the disaster didn't seem to want to leave her. On the contrary. Despite the forgotten toothache, her body seemed to be heating up more and more. All day long, she found herself wishing for solitude, her mind in constant overdrive.
“Akko, you should have another drink,” Lotte worried. She refilled Akko's glass while the brunette had her head in her arms. She grumbled and shifted. Everyone was in the cafeteria, and the sound was too loud.
The smells are too strong.
Too many people.
Too much alp–
“You really ought to rest…” Akko felt a hand slowly rub her back, and she had to bite her hand to keep from moaning. Her shoulders suddenly tensed as Diana’s hand tried to calm her. “Are you experiencing any pain?”
Akko awkwardly pointed at her uterus. “I think my period is coming… If someone had told me it was this painful…” She squeaked when Diana's hand moved back and she squeezed her thighs together, trying to silence the pressure. “Make it stop…” She begged.
“Maybe a hot water bottle would help?” Barbara pondered.
“I'm thinking about something else—” Sucy began, but Lotte silenced her with a look. Sucy crossed her arms over her chest and rolled her eyes.
“Not the time, Sucy.”
“Of course it’s time–”
Akko groaned as her roommates argued, and she put her hands over her ears. She wanted to go back to her dorm, crawl under her duvet, rest, be able to relieve the tension, the pressure that seemed to build and build in her lower abdomen.
She pushed her chair closer to the table, sitting up before feeling the wetness on the wood. She whimpered silently and tried to stand, unsure whether or not she hoped it was blood.
Bad idea.
She had barely tried to stand when she felt her legs tremble. Amanda, who was just coming over, caught her with an arm around her hips.
“Whoa, I think it would be best for you to go back to your dorm, you really don't seem like yourself,” Amanda placed her tray on the table. Akko wrapped her arms around her shoulders and balanced herself.
“Just… Five minutes…”
“Akko, this isn't your fault!” Lotte approached her.
“Of course I do. I don't want to miss PE class, it's what I was looking forward to most today…” Akko wiped the sweat from her forehead before putting her hands back over her ears at the volume. She backed away from Amanda's arms, ducking her head. It smelled strong. Like an entire pine forest and aged whiskey right under Akko's nose. She squeaked and stumbled backward, landing on the ground as her friends watched. She was breathing hard before a shiver ran down her spine.
Long.
Slow.
Starting from her core and standing up the hairs on the back of her neck.
Akko gasped as her body tensed. Her thighs suddenly tightened as a moan escaped her lips. She could feel the others' gaze on her, shame gripping her so tightly that tears welled up in her eyes.
“Step back, all of you! Allow her some air! Amanda, remain here.” She could hear Diana saying, but it was all far away. Very far away. She tried to stand up and felt arms lift her off the ground. Her nose found the crook of her neck and her body relaxed as a jolt took her. She began to shake violently, the sweat on her forehead worsening. A cloth fell over her and she opened one eye to see that Diana had taken off her jacket. “Akko, I am taking you to your room immediately. You are not to argue with me or—” Akko silenced her with a groan of pain.
“Please… I just want… to sleep…” Akko begged her, and she saw Diana swallow before nodding. The Alpha hit the road directly after, trying a few spells to calm Akko’s cramps.
“Here we are…” Diana sighed as she laid Akko down on her bed. The brunette grumbled as she buried her head in her pillow, body tense as she arched her back, her body screaming, begging for any release of the heat building in the hollows of her legs. Diana tried to grab her jacket back, but Akko's fingers were deeply embedded in it, clinging to her for dear life. “Akko, I shall need my jacket back, but you may settle under your duvet.” She sighed, but Akko only responded with a more intense grunt. The blonde ran her hand through Akko's hair, and Akko relaxed a little more at the touch. “I will check on you after dinner with some old family remedies, should you not improve. Please, try to rest.”
Akko closed her eyes as Diana continued to give her instructions. She groaned as the scent of lavender grew stronger. She nuzzled closer to the garment and pressed her thighs together under the blanket. Diana touched her forehead one last time before leaving, a worried and lost look on her face.
And once the door was closed? It was like a dam opening. Akko's body burned, her core ached, her mind foggy. She slowly stood up and tossed her shirt away, quickly followed by her skirt and bra.
“Much better…” She sighed and lay back down. She turned her head toward the open window and let the wind glide over her skin. She turned and hugged the jacket to herself.
It smells good… She found herself thinking as her eyes closed. So good, like home… So safe… The alpha…
She squeaked, scrunching her face up a little more as her hand slid lower.
Lavender and tea... An alpha that can help... Oh damn she smells good... It smells so good...
Her hand slid urgently into her underwear, and her hips bucked as her fingers found her clit. She rolled onto her stomach and lifted her hips as her index and middle fingers continued their circular motions. She squealed, tightening the jacket a little more.
“Alpha… Alpha…” Akko moaned before letting her fingers slide inside her. Her hips began to move faster as her muscles tightened around her fingers. Without her noticing, the room slowly filled with her pheromones as her heart sped up in time with her fingers. Her mind was foggy, her body following an instinct screaming at her to go faster, to go harder, to fill her. Or to be filled.
She squealed one last time as the sound of her fingers pumping inside her filled the silence with obscene noises. She let her hips guide the orgasm as her palm rubbed her clit at the same time, causing waves of pleasure to shiver through her body.
Once the orgasm subsided, Akko looked at her fingers. She could feel her entrance still pulsing and the slick flowing between her thighs. And most importantly, the desire was still there.
She looked at her fingers again.
Then the jacket.
Then her fingers.
Then the jacket.
My Alpha gave it to me for that. She expects me to do that. But if she expected me to use her jacket, she would have stayed, but…
Akko sat on her knees in bed. The scent of sex slowly began to embrace her as the lavender rose to her brain. Slowly, as if afraid of being caught by her mother stealing a treat, she let her hips brush against the jacket before her scream filled the room.
For her own dignity, Akko thanked the dorms for being soundproof. She pushed her hips harder, letting the fabric massage her clit.
And shit…
Chapter 2: Animals
Summary:
Akko had lost her dignity over a jacket. Maybe her favourite professor can help her (spoiler alert: no)

Chapter Text
" Oh, oh, I want some more
Oh, oh, what are you waiting for?
Take a bite of my heart tonight. "
“Does it still smell?” Akko handed the jacket to Sucy, wishing she would die. Sucy sniffed and grimaced.
“How many times have you jumped on that poor jacket? It’s really not–”
Akko put her hands over her ears and closed her eyes as the red burned across her face. She heard the clock strike one in the morning, and she groaned even more.
Sucy and Lotte had had to forcibly separate her from the poor jacket when they returned before urgently injecting her with a suppressant shot. When Akko came to, she was mortified. The entire dorm reeked of a needy Omega—her pheromones had finally manifested during her first orgasm. Sucy, who had suspected Akko's true nature for a while, had simply decided to make the brunette's life hell.
“How is this possible…” Akko grumbled, rubbing the jacket with soap. The wet stain, despite washing the jacket several times, was still visible. “Is there bleach in my slick or…”
“You basically imprinted this jacket with your strongest pheromones. You can wash it all you want, it won't do any good,” Sucy explained, holding her nose because her roommate's sex scent wasn't what she'd hoped to smell during the night. Akko buried her face in the jacket, screamed, then pulled away with a grimace.
“Maybe I should just burn it—”
“Akko!” Lotte took the jacket. “No! What would you say to Diana!”
“Probably something like ' oh sorry, I found out I'm an Omega so I fucked your jacket ,' sounds pretty good to me,” Sucy burst out laughing.
“I want to crawl into a hole and die…" Akko whined as she slumped onto the laundry room floor.
“No, really? I can’t wait to see you walk up to Cavendish tomorrow with her poor jacket in hand”
Akko choked on her saliva.
“Why aren’t you reacting to… my pheromones?" Just saying the word made her want to gag.
“First of all, because I'm on suppressants, you idiot. All the Omegas and Alphas must be on suppressants at Luna Nova,” Sucy rolled her eyes. “Besides, the Omegas' heats make me want to throw up more than go into rut. The joys of being AroAce.”
“So you've never gone into rut?”
“I didn't say that.”
Akko opened her mouth but closed it immediately, preferring to avoid the question. She looked at her hands and sighed before placing them on the back of her neck.
“I'm really gonna have to wear these stupid collars, aren't I…?” Akko muttered. Lotte sat down next to her and touched the spot where her shoulder and neck met.
“Now that your glands have developed, everyone will smell your pheromones. A hundred times stronger than before. You're lucky the dorms have pheromone blockers. You would have attracted everyone's attention otherwise…”
Akko sighed and took the jacket back in her hands. The Alpha's scent caught her nose, and she found herself hugging it.
“No, but at this point, if she goes straight to Diana, it'll be faster—” Sucy groaned.
Akko threw the jacket away, blushing furiously. “Never! I’d rather DIE than let an Alpha mark me!”
“Even Diana?”
“Sucy!” Lotte scolded her as Akko screamed into her hands. “Or maybe Professor Chariot would have an idea? She's an Omega after all and…”
“But of course!” Akko sat up and burst out laughing, her arms crossed over her chest. “She’ll know what to do!”
Akko didn't wait for her friends as she grabbed her jacket and dashed out of the laundry room. She ran up and down the staircases, careful to dodge the night shift, and finally arrived at the observatory, the jacket slung over her shoulder.
“Professor! Professor!” Akko knocked on the door several times. She heard groaning from inside, Alcor's shuffle, and a high-pitched scream as something fell to the floor. She heard someone curse, and the door opened to reveal a clearly winded Chariot.
“Akko? What are you doing at this hour? You should already be in your dorm!”
“P-Professor…” Akko stammered, her fingers tightening around the jacket. “I have a problem, a… pretty big problem and…”
Akko sniffed the air. She frowned as she caught a strong scent coming from the observatory, one that reminded her of a certain professor…
“Is Professor Croix here too?”
“Akko, please–”
“Perfect. I need to talk to you both. An opinion from another Alpha wouldn't hurt.” Akko slipped into the room, only to see Croix hiding under the covers, a smirk on her face.
“Hey, kid.”
Akko looked at Chariot. And Croix. Her breathing hitched as the scent of campfire and thunderstorm filled her nose, coiling around her lungs, wrapping her in a hug she couldn't decide whether to flee from or melt into. A scent clear that an Omega and an Alpha had been busy before. She wondered for a brief moment what she herself smelled like and if her scent would mix well with Di—
She shook her head and groaned. No, not right away. Focus.
“I'm intruding, I'm sorry—” She backed away from the door, and Chariot hurried to open the window and light some scent-eliminating candles.
“Akko, it's not what you think…” Chariot tried but looked away. Akko noticed the scar her idol had on the back of her neck. She let her eyes slide over to Croix, who was approaching the same one.
“I uh… You guys are, you know… bonded?” Akko asked shyly, and Chariot blushed even more.
“Y-yes… since last year...” Chariot blushed even more, and Croix rolled her eyes, the smell of the storm becoming a little heavier despite the candles.
“Akko, I hope you have a good reason to be here at this hour,” the Alpha grumbled, pulling on the T-shirt that was lying on the edge of the bed. The brunette sat up, remembering why she was here.
“Yes! Actually, I have a little problem and…” She played with the jacket in her hands, and Chariot frowned.
“Akko, if you've torn another hole in your jacket, you shouldn't be complaining to me, especially not at this hour…”
“This… Isn’t my jacket?”
Chariot pinched the bridge of her nose and crossed her arms. “If this is for a lost jacket…”
“It's Diana's, Professor…” Akko murmured, her ears reddening. Chariot raised her head, and Croix raised an eyebrow.
“Akko, I don't understand…” Chariot began, and Akko held up the jacket. Chariot frowned, took the jacket in her hands, and examined it. The stain on the back was slight but still visible. Chariot brought it close to her face, sniffed, and paled. “Akko, what in the Nines did you do—”
“I don't know!” Akko suddenly burst out. “I've been really hot and my teeth hurt and I've been eating for a week, and this morning I had a fever and…” She stammered, playing with her shirt.
“She manifested later,” Sucy's voice echoed through the observatory. The Alpha was leaning against the door, Lotte panting behind her.
“Ooh, this is getting interesting…” Croix snorted before receiving a glare from Chariot. The Italian witch looked away with a hiss, sitting up in bed.
“What? What do you mean?” Chariot asked as she started boiling some tea.
“Her canines are growing,” Sucy forced Akko to open her mouth, showing her slightly bleeding gum. “An Omega’s canines are longer than a Beta’s, but shorter than an Alpha’s, and more rounded at the base. You can see them growing.” She used her finger to press down on Akko’s upper canines, and she whimpered in pain. All she wanted to do was curl up in a corner of the room under a blanket and growl at the Alpha. “Usually, secondary gender manifests gradually in an Omega through their gradually changing pheromones, but Akko…”
“Akko didn't… have any pheromones,” Lotte cut her off, and Chariot frowned even more. “We had our doubts, but…”
“Lotte had doubts. I was sure.”
“ We had our doubts ,” Lotte ignored Sucy's comment, “but it sounded like a toothache, and the fact that Akko hadn't declared pheromones didn't tip us off.”
“That doesn't explain the state of the jacket!” Chariot crossed her arms over her chest and Croix choked on laughter, understanding directly.
“Well…” Akko stuttered.
“She masturbated with it.”
All heads turned in shock towards Sucy, and Akko hid her face in her hands. Sucy raised her eyebrows.
“You have to call a spade a spade, and given the state of the jacket, it must be fertile. Diana dropped her off at our dorm around 12:45 pm. We came back after class, so around 5:00 pm”
Akko whined a little more in shame, and Lotte rubbed her back.
“Knowing that this is Akko's first heat, that her pheromones were triggered during her little session alone and that this poor jacket was subject to her fantasies towards Diana…”
“SUCY!!!” Akko sobbed.
“...I think 15 washes and 30 confessions to the Nine wouldn't be enough to wash away the smell and sins on this jacket.”
“We were hoping you'd have something for this, Professor,” Lotte explained. Chariot looked at the jacket as Akko stood mortified in the corner. “The first thing we did when we found her was give her a large dose of suppressant, but we don't know how long it'll last. We don't know her cycle yet, how her body handles suppressants…” The Beta sighed and put an arm around Akko's shoulders. “As long as the first shot of suppressant is working, we can't give her a second, except we don't know when it'll wear off. And she doesn't have a dosage for pills…”
“...which means she can go into heat again at any moment,” Chariot nodded, and Akko groaned.
“She's responding much more to Alpha pheromones than before, though she seems more overwhelmed by them than attracted to them, except for Diana's. But then again, her heat hadn't kicked in yet, so maybe now, all Alphas…”
“Wait, wait…” Croix giggled. “Are you telling us that Akko, almost 18, triggered her second gender so quietly that no one noticed?”
“There… were signs…” Lotte thought. “The first being how she reacted to Diana’s scent…”
“She was eating for ten and wouldn’t get out of bed, as if she were preparing to nest,” Sucy continued. “Lots of mood swings, from needing affection to wanting to be alone. But no…”
"No…"
“Pheromone,” the two members of the red team said in unison. “Her scent was just as weak as a regular Beta,” Lotte explained, “but for the past week, she’s been able to pick up other people’s scents and pheromones as if they weren’t under scent blockers.”
“Like when I could sense Diana was stressed during Finnelan’s test?” Akko asked, but everyone ignored her.
“A second gender doesn't directly manifest as heat or rut, though,” Chariot mused. “Usually, pheromones first develop around age 15, and there are signs of pre-heat, but it doesn't happen for at least a year. The fact that Akko, being almost an adult, finds herself in this situation…” She sighed and turned to her chest. She rummaged for a few seconds and pulled out a collar that made Akko wince.
“Really? Do we have to? I mean, Alphas are all on suppressants, so I should be okay…” Her voice trailed off as Chariot placed the collar around her neck. Akko yelped when the metal touched her skin and reflexively flinched away as her fingers automatically began to try to remove it, the sensation already too much. “No, no, no, no…” She gasped for air. “I… I can’t. There must have been something wrong, I can’t be an Omega; I’m a Beta, I… It was the fever…” She squeaked loudly and panicked even more when Chariot tried to hug her.
“Akko… Akko, it's okay, please breathe…” Her teacher tried, but Akko choked even more on her own breath.
“Lotte, Sucy, tell them… I… I'm just sick…” Akko began to sob, her fingers tugging at the collar that hid the tops of her shoulders. Lotte approached her as everyone could smell Akko's fear. The brunette hugged herself as her own scent, her own pheromones , hit her hard. A sour, metallic scent seemed to cling to her clothes, her skin, her in general. She rubbed her arms in panic, the smell growing stronger and stronger.
It was Lotte who managed to calm her down, forcing her to inhale against her. The scent of pine and chamomile briefly calmed Akko, who closed her eyes as her breathing matched her roommate's. Her fingers closed around her jacket and…
The jacket.
Diana's jacket.
Akko was going to die .
“What am I going to tell her…” Akko trembled. “How am I supposed to face her? Diana, she… She’s going to… Oh my god…” She began to whine, imagining the scene.
“I'm sure Diana will understand, Akko…” Chariot crouched down beside her and rubbed her back slowly. “I remind you that she helps Omegas in heat by constantly and…”
Akko's pupils dilated against her will as she turned her head toward Chariot. "What do you mean she helps Omegas in heat ?" Her voice came out colder than intended, the sourness sharpening as a mix of burnt caramel and sharp cinnamon filled the room. Croix snorted despite herself, noticing Akko’s jealousy barely under control.
“Akko! Not in that way! You know the rules! Luna Nova clearly forbids the act of mating! Mates and bonding are prohibited within the school grounds!”
“Nobody respects the mating rule anyway…” Croix grumbled.
“Well, they should!” Chariot straightened up.
“That’s not what you said when you…”
“Diana doesn’t mate with other Omegas?” Akko sobbed, but her shoulders trembled less
“Of course not! She's just helping with her family spells! She's under suppressants with permission from the headmistress and a muzzle requirement!” Chariot rubbed Akko's back, and she frowned. Muzzle? On the heiress's nose?
“But it's degrading; only students who have had a biting problem are normally forced to wear one—” Akko remembered the time Amanda was forced to wear a muzzle for a month after getting into a fight with another Alpha. ' Worth the shot ,' Amanda had just shrugged with a smirk.
“It was she herself who expressed the idea, probably to show her good faith,” Croix explained.
Akko squeaked at the mental image and took the jacket Chariot was still holding.
“Do you think she'll be mad?" She asked weakly, and Chariot gave her a gentle smile.
“Of course not. You'll just have to wait for the smell to dissipate and for her to put her scents back on it before wearing it again, but I'm sure she won't say anything to you!”
Akko nodded and hugged the jacket tightly, burying her nose in the fabric. Her mind blocked out her own pheromones, letting only the blonde's scent through, which soothed Akko.
It'll just be an awkward moment. Very awkward...
Akko clutched her bag to her chest as her classmates stared—not at her, but at the collar around her neck. She tensed when she heard the whispers and kept her focus fixed. Find Diana.
She entered the classroom quite early this morning. Her gaze swept the room until it landed on an Alpha sitting alone, absorbed in her book. She took a slow breath and began climbing the steps into the amphitheatre. Diana lifted her head, and her body seemed to relax as she stood.
“Akko! Are you all right? You were not at breakfast, and I wished to visit you in your dormitory, but Sucy and Lotte assured me you were fine, so I…” Her voice dropped to a whisper as her eyes fell on the collar around Akko's neck. “Akko?”
Akko blushed all the way to her ears and clutched her bag a little tighter. “We… need to talk.”
“I… Yes, I believe so as well,” she gently took one of her hands, and her thumb caressed her knuckles, and Akko felt her knees tremble. She quickly sat down in the lower row and straddled the chair, her back arching instinctively.
“There… was an incident with your jacket…” Akko muttered, and Diana frowned.
“Did you... set it on fire?”
“What– No!”
“Did Sucy use it for one of her experiments?”
"No?"
“Was it stolen by a wild animal?” The question might have been funny if it hadn’t happened before …
Akko bit her lip and blushed even more. If the wild animal in question was her inner Omega who had decided the jacket was a good sex toy to hump…
“It’s… More complicated than that…” She looked down and played with her fingers as she rocked back and forth. Diana put her chin in her hands, leaned forward, and raised an eyebrow, and Akko was sure that if she weren’t still high on the suppressant shot from last night, the entire school would smell of warm orange and amber honey.
“I am listening. Do not worry if something happened—you were unwell, and it was likely beyond your control.”
“Yeah… None…” Akko murmured, remembering how her hips moved in time with her thoughts. Thoughts that had very quickly deviated to the question: what size–
Akko let her forehead smack against Diana's desk as the memories flooded her mind. How could she even think that? Just because she had a crush didn't mean she had to be disrespectful!
Diana gently placed a hand on her cheek, her fingers sliding down to her chin before forcing her head up to look at her.
“Akko?”
“Raw.”
Akko immediately clapped her hands over her mouth and wondered if her heat was returning. Diana blinked once, twice, as Akko hid her face in her hands.
“I… I’m sorry! I was thinking of something else and…”
“That is quite all right, but… I would still like to know what became of my jacket.”
Akko spread her fingers and looked at the Alpha between them.
“Diana, I… might be Omega…” She whispered. Diana frowned even more.
"How so?"
“It… It could be, hypothetically speaking, that I went into heat with pheromone denial… So uh… It only manifested with the fever and…” Akko slowly lowered her hands as Diana seemed to understand.
“Pheromone denial…” Diana repeated and looked at Akko’s bag. “And yet, when I left you in your room yesterday, you appeared…”
Akko raised a hand to cut her off and slowly took out the jacket, so slowly that time seemed to stand still.
“I… My pheromones… My heat… Everything… Exploded…? And I… I tried to wash your jacket and… And oh my goodness, Diana, I'm sorry…” Akko was shaking so hard that she almost dropped the jacket as she reached for it. Diana took it in her hands, and the smell hit her directly.
"You…"
“Diana…”
"You have…"
“You don't have to continue the sentence…” Akko murmured, burying her head in her arms, missing how the blonde's pupils had dilated slightly and how she had crossed her legs. “It was an accident… I was hot and… And once you left, something inside me screamed, and I had no control any more, and even my thoughts, even my morals were screaming the same thing and…”
“Akko, this… It is nothing…” Diana whispered, but her voice deepened a little.
“I'm so sorry,” Akko raised her head and wiped away her tears. “I promise, I didn't know, I didn't mean to, I've felt like dying of embarrassment since yesterday… Sucy and Lotte came into the room, and it was the most humiliating moment of my life and…”
“Akko…”
“...I swear I tried everything but the smell wouldn't go away and I was afraid you'd hate me and…”
“ Akko .”
“...and now I find myself being an Omega wearing this stupid collar, and okay, it belonged to Professor Chariot, but it's still humiliating and…”
“Akko,” her voice was firm, and Akko felt Diana's fingers find her chin and lift her head, her grip firm and warm. Akko's breath caught in her throat as the only sound in the room seemed to be her heartbeat. She opened her mouth to protest, but something inside her begged her to just shut up and listen to the Alpha. Her eyes were slightly darker, and her knuckles were white against the jacket.
“Y… Yes?”
“Are you feeling any better ?”
Akko was surprised by the question. Diana still held her chin, her eyes fixed on her as if trying to see if the Omega was going to lie to her.
“I… Yes, a lot.”
“Did it help?”
“Y… Yes…”
“During heat, an Omega will always seek either an Alpha or their mate. I am relieved that, in your case, it was someone… safe. If I may call myself that. It is far preferable to some other Alpha attempting to take advantage of you.” Diana sighed and released Akko's chin, and something inside her squeaked as the blonde crossed her arms over her chest and sighed, sitting back in her chair. “An Omega may only be touched during heat if they have given explicit consent beforehand. Once heat begins, instincts take over entirely—there is no true ‘ I want this ’ or ‘ I do not .’ The breeding instinct overrides reason, and the consequences only become apparent after the heat has passed.”
Akko swallowed hard as she nodded. Being touched while in heat…
Her gaze fell on the jacket that was folded over Diana's crossed legs. Akko found herself letting her gaze trail over the exposed skin.
At least 6 inches… 3.5 and 7, then… Good and ready to ride–
And Akko slammed her head back against the desk, earning a surprised squeal from Diana.
Maybe dying would be a good idea...
Notes:
I'm just here writing unhinged and horny thoughts... Am I a saint or as sinful as the jacket...
Oh and the true "size" is already defined for those who are curious.
Yes, it's bigger.I hope you enjoyed this chapter! I really love digging into this AU, as omegaverse is currently becoming one of my favourite trop (and maybe an hyperfixation)
Chapter 3: Breathe Me
Summary:
Akko is back in class. But things aren't easy and now she is facing her life as an Omega...

Chapter Text
"Ouch, I have lost myself again
Lost myself and I am nowhere to be found
Yeah, I think that I might break
Lost myself again and I feel unsafe"
Akko yawned loudly while Chariot was explaining a new chapter. This was all so…
Boring.
Akko grumbled and lay down on her table, her forehead touching the wood of her desk. A few first-years looked at her curiously as Chariot continued.
“When an Omega or Alpha bonds with their mates, their scents are not suppressed, as some might think. Other scents are simply no longer affected, such as heat pheromones. If an unbonded Alpha smells heat from a bonded Omega, their rut will not be triggered. A bonded Alpha will also not react to heat from an unbonded Omega.”
Akko yawned again. Since she had manifested late, she found herself in a secondary gender education class for Omegas because, of course, society prefers to ignore the subject of dynamics in elementary and middle school.
The Omega looked around. No one from her year. She recognised some second-years and groaned even more. She had started classes again today, Chariot having insisted that Akko stay in her dorm until her first heat had passed. Which could have been simple, if Diana hadn’t, of course , spent all her free time playing the perfect president, watching over Akko, calculating her temperature to determine her cycle, constantly reminding her to drink, and constantly asking how she was feeling.
“You can take that ridiculous thing off,” Akko had told her, pointing at the muzzle. Diana raised an eyebrow, her lips pursed behind the iron cage.
“Firstly, I must decline. I am not willing to take that risk. Secondly, I simply cannot. The nurse holds the key, and regardless of my family name, I am not permitted to carry it—neither legally nor morally. Just imagine if my suppressants were to fail at the most inopportune moment… I refuse to endanger you, Akko.”
Akko rolled her eyes as Diana took her temperature again. She had noticed how the blonde’s eyes were redder than usual, her breathing quicker, and her body stiffer.
“What, your body's reacting to my pheromones, Cavendish?” Akko had blurted out before she even realized it, the shot Lotte and Sucy had given her was beginning to wear off. Her fever was rising again, and her body was reacting before she could even control it. She had expected Diana to roll her eyes, gently smack her on the back of the head, or brush her off with a slightly cold remark, but without any real bite behind it.
Instead, Diana stopped, and her gaze shifted to her first aid kit.
“A-absolutely not. I’m— I’m on suppressants, as you well know…” She whispered, and Akko noticed two small red holes on her forearm. Akko knew Diana was on a weekly pill regimen and took a preventative injection when she helped with the Omegas, but two? Why two?
She rolled over in her bed, observing Diana's behaviour a little more closely. Something seemed to be bothering her at that moment, and Akko wondered if the Alpha was forcing herself to overdose for some reason unknown to her…
All this had happened two weeks ago. Akko had roughly calculated the duration of her heat and the total duration of her estrus. Which was long.
Far too long for Akko, and she hated it. As soon as the suppressants wore off, her dorm room became a hormone dump, and her body became so sensitive she just wanted to shove her head into a pillow and scream. But it was over, and she swore she'd never let Diana see it again.
“Be lucky you hadn’t arched your back to show your pussy,” Sucy had once said this after Diana left one night, when Lotte had to pin Akko to her bed—otherwise, she would have killed her roommate.
“Is it true they left you with an Alpha in your dorm? Like, is Sucy still your roommate?” Akko heard someone talking to her. She turned her head and saw a younger student leaning over shyly.
“Uh… Yeah?” Akko scratched the back of her head.
“Aren't you afraid of her? Like, that she'll jump on you or…” The student pointed at her necklace and grimaced. Akko snickered.
“Honestly? No, it’s okay. I’m more afraid of being poisoned as a guinea pig…”
“Because you’re an Omega, and Alphas like to use us?”
Akko's smile immediately vanished. She shifted anxiously in her chair and leaned towards the younger woman as well.
“N-No, I mean, she’s not like that…”
“All Alphas are like that,” Akko heard another student—Sydnee, if Akko remembered her name—say. “You can't trust them. None of them. Without exception.”
“You… Can’t generalize…” The Japanese murmured. “There are very good Alphas, as well as very bad Omegas, and…”
“My brother got bitten by his best friend without his consent on his birthday.” Sydnee clenched her fists around her notebook, crumpling the paper. “Just because he was in heat. Just because he was… An Omega in heat who trusted her. He invited her home for a party, his estrus had started, and he didn't even have time to reach his room to take a suppressant before he was bitten, claimed, and raped.”
“I… I'm sorry…” Akko whispered, and Sydnee glared in her direction.
“They had known each other since they were two. They did everything together. After that, my brother went into a depression. My parents worked day and night for months to get him glans removal surgery. And after that? Lifelong treatment, complete loss of pheromones, his health turned against him, and he ended up infertile. And you know what? He still killed himself six months later. The Alphas? All freeloaders, assholes, even the teachers, even…” Sydnee groaned and put her head in her hands. “Even their damn student president…”
Akko's breath caught in her throat. Diana…
“Not everyone is like that…” Akko tried again, even though the memory of Diana's shifty gaze came back to her. No. She couldn't afford to think like that. Diana was kind. Diana was gentle. Diana was…
'An Alpha,' her subconscious whispered. 'Who, even with all the goodwill in the world, has instincts, ruts, and fangs just waiting to sink into an Omega.'
Akko's vision began to blur as her chest tightened. She looked around and noticed the discomfort all the Omegas were experiencing as Chariot explained biology and the risks of bonding. The collar around her neck felt like it weighed a ton, and her head spun.
“I… I'm sorry I… I…” Akko tripped over her words. Chariot stopped her lecture and turned to her favourite student.
“Akko?”
“Professor, I need…” She choked out and stormed out of the room, her body ready to collapse at any moment. Chariot dropped her wand and barely caught it as Akko grabbed for the first trash can she found, her breakfast churning in her stomach.
“Akko, are you okay?” Chariot asked, worried.
“How is Professor Croix during rut?!” Akko suddenly asked, and Chariot turned red.
“I… I don’t know if that’s an appropriate question, I mean…”
“Did she force you to bond? Are all Alphas like this? Am I in danger? Am I in danger with Diana ?!” Akko shook her by the shoulders, and Chariot blinked a few times.
“What? N-no, of course not! Akko, what…”
“What happened to Sydnee's brother, and the collars, and… And all of that!” Akko gasped, her breaths barely keeping up with her words. “Why? Why am I like this? I didn't ask for it! I was supposed to be a Beta! I was supposed to be quiet and live a stable life! Why am I like this? I don't want to bond, I don't want to go into heat, I don't want to be dependent!” She sobbed and fell to her knees. Chariot put her arms around her and forced her to look at her.
“Akko. What happened with Sydnee's brother… It's not…” Chariot sighed. “These are sad things that happen every day, all over the world… But it's only a minority!” She exclaimed, hearing Akko's sobs. “It's like, you know, Omegas abusing other people during their heat, or rape, or murder and…”
Akko cried even more. Chariot panicked a little more and rubbed her back as the brunette started throwing up into the trash can.
“There, there… If I told you how I bonded with Croix, would that make you feel better?” Chariot asked her, and Akko nodded vigorously, sniffing ungratefully. She sighed and leaned her head against the wall. “Croix and I… We’ve known each other since our first year at Luna Nova, as you know. In the second year, we started dating. It could be that we… Broke a few rules back then…” The French witch turned as red as her hair as Akko calmed down. “It could be that it wasn’t uncommon for me to spend my heat in her dorm, and for her to... take care of me while she herself was on suppressants.”
“She never tried to bite you…?” Akko asked timidly.
“Poor Croix had to double her suppressant dose to be safe,” Chariot laughed. “Often, heats are stronger if the person around us is someone we like. Kind of like you with the jacket—”
“Let’s not talk about this again,” Akko grumbled and crossed her arms around her knees, pouting.
“Yes, yes…” Chariot laughed softly. “There was one time when Croix's suppressants stopped working, and the first thing she did was back away and shot herself with injections until it passed, locking herself in the bathroom.”
“Oh, not cool.”
“Life separated us, only to find each other again, thanks to you.” Chariot bumped her shoulder against Akko’s and smiled. “After her sentence was over, I gave her another chance and… The day it happened? We’d been talking about it for months beforehand, waiting to be sure of ourselves, to be sure we were heading in the same direction and…”
Chariot pushed back her hair, and Akko looked at the scar on the back of her neck.
“There are bad people everywhere, Akko…” Chariot looked at her out of the corner of her eye. “People who are just waiting for the right moment to attack. Sydnee's brother's friend was like that. But there are also good people, people who want the best for you, who want to protect you no matter your secondary gender.”
Akko looked at the ground and tightened her grip around her legs. The fear was still there, but maybe things would work out…?
“Our Akko is an Omega!” Amanda exclaimed with laughter as Akko groaned into her hands. She hadn't seen her group of friends since her heat began, and she had hoped the topic wouldn't come up.
But of course, it had.
“Don’t say anything…” Akko grumbled and furiously dug into her potato. “I’m still me, as far as I know…”
“Is it true that you fucked Cavendish’s jacket?”
Akko looked up. Slowly. Very slowly. Amanda giggled while Sucy had a smirk playing at the corner of her lips.
“ YOU .” Akko choked on her water. She stood up suddenly, her thighs slapping the table as Jasminka and Lotte forced her back down. “ I SWEAR ON NINES I’LL KILL YOU .”
“Oh, look, Akko, Diana is coming, can you hear that?” Amanda laughed a little more.
“Hear what?” Akko shouted in her direction.
“ Mom… Mom… The jacket has been worn so much that your children are literally walking around in it.”
“SUCY!” Akko yelled as three trays landed.
“What’s going on?” Barbara asked Lotte, who was trying to calm the brunette down.
“Oh, nothing, just talking about how Diana's jacket got Akko pregnant.”
“SUCY, IT WAS AN ACCIDENT!” Akko screamed again and squealed as she met Diana’s gaze. Diana looked at her jacket, which Akko recognized as not being the jacket of shame, and blushed furiously. “DIANA, SAY SOMETHING!” She whined, and the Alpha looked away.
“Well… I mean… It was… Surprising?”
A silence fell over the table as everyone stared at Diana. Diana coughed, blushed even more, and looked at the time on her watch as if to distract her.
“So ,where is this jacket?” Sucy couldn’t help but ask, and Diana choked on her mouthful of food.
“HOW ABOUT SOMETHING OTHER THAN THIS JACKET?” Akko exclaimed and shook her hand.
“How do you want it? It’s the big mystery of the day.” Amanda smiled a little wider.
“YES, WELL, NO, IT'S NOT A MYSTERY!” She shouted, and several students turned to the group of nine. Akko sat back down, her cheeks burning.
“Are you feeling okay despite everything?” Jasminka asked, holding out a packet of candy she had hidden in her pocket before rubbing Akko's head affectionately.
“I don't know…” She admitted, leaning into the touch. “It's… Still new. New labels to learn, my body having unfamiliar reactions, the fact that I have to wear scent blockers now, how many pills do I have to take a day? Two? Three?”
“Three, your suppressant, your scent blocker, and your anti-emetic—all of which are necessary, particularly as your body does not yet seem accustomed to hormonal regulation, hence the nausea,” Diana replied, not even seeming bothered in the slightest. She had followed Akko's heat from the front row after all…
“And can I know why I have to take suppressants knowing that I am no longer in heat?”
“These aid not only in managing your heat but also serve as a form of contraception,” Diana explained. “They are fully reimbursed, so you ought to make use of them. With their assistance, your cycles will be properly regulated—no unfortunate surprises.”
“Yes, but,” Akko swallowed, “the purpose of suppressants is to stop heats, so what’s the point of making them regular?”
Diana put down her fork, surprised by the question. She turned to Akko, and the brunette suddenly felt very ridiculous talking about this kind of thing at the table.
In the cafeteria.
With not one, not two, but four Alphas among her friends.
“The initial heats are often quite irregular. Some Omegas enter estrus twice a year, others four times—it varies from person to person. In the early stages, the body is entirely unregulated and may enter estrus unpredictably. The suppressant you’ve been given is designed to stabilise your cycle to twice annually. Based on the tests we conducted during your heat, we were able to assess your hormone levels and select a suitable suppressant. Of course, it can be adjusted in future.”
Akko put her head in her hands and groaned.
“I don’t understand anything!”
“Magic pill,” Sucy groaned. “You take the pill. You don't get randomly horny because you have a lousy body that manifests late. You get a body thanks to the magic pill that gets you horny twice a year. You then choose whether to continue suppressants during horniness or not. You get fucked afterward if you stop suppressants.”
Akko opened her mouth as Diana pinched the bridge of her nose.
“It’s… rather crudely phrased, but yes—that is the general idea. You may stop the treatment during your heat if, for example, you have an Alpha...”
Diana's voice trailed off, and Akko fiddled with her napkin.
“No, no, taking suppressants is fine, very fine. I love the concept: a little Smarties every morning and easy…” She grumbled, and Amanda giggled.
“You gave us a real scare that day, you know? Seeing you collapse like that in front of everyone… And thank goodness your pheromones hadn't been triggered! Everyone would have known otherwise!”
“Yes, well, with this necklace, it's written all over my face…” Akko stuffed her potato in her mouth and looked away.
“Well, being an Omega is not so bad!” Lotte tried to reassure her.
“And how?” Akko raised an eyebrow.
“Well, you… smell good?”
Akko looked at her in disbelief. Her expression hardened, and she tensed. Being the only Omega in the group? Being the only one with these needs and constraints? She tightened her grip on her fork as her throat constricted.
“You don’t understand… If I forget this damn medicine just once, I’ll probably be completely cured. I refuse…”
“Akko—” She heard one of her friends call her name, but she was so deep in thought that she didn't recognize her.
“Just by a smell? Just by an instinct, and an accident can happen? Just because of a smell, an Alpha can jump on me thinking it's a green light?” Akko slammed her hands on the table and looked up at her friends. “I refuse to be the kind of Omega who lets herself be dominated! I refuse to be the kind of Omega who lets herself be claimed! I refuse to be bonded to an Alpha, never!” Her breathing was rapid, and she groaned. “Even if it means giving up on my dream to have children! I'll always keep pills on me, and I'll save up for surgery, and I'll never be dependent on an Alpha. I will never—” She stopped when her gaze met Amanda, Sucy, Jasminka, and Diana’s. The other Alphas looked at her, a hint of understanding in their eyes. Diana hid her face in her hand and looked away, her eyebrows furrowed.
“Nothing will happen to you,” Amanda promised. “I promise to protect you!” She pounded her heart with her fist, her gaze sure. She shrugged and puffed out her chest as she wrapped an arm around Akko’s waist, and the faint scent of pine thickened like resin, blending with the warm, ember-like aroma. Akko relaxed before rubbing the back of her neck. She offered her a small smile and turned her attention to all her friends, who nodded in agreement. The Omega stopped on Diana, who seemed lost in thought. Akko tilted her head to the side, and Diana jumped slightly before their eyes met.
“I… I’ll protect you too, Akko. With my life, if necessary,” she announced as her gaze darkened slightly, her pupils dilated as she inhaled slowly, her hands resting on her knees. Akko felt her heart race as she swallowed hard. She’d known she’d had a crush on Diana for a few months now, and Akko had tried everything to see if Diana was receptive to her advances. She’d flirted openly, she’d asked questions, and the Nines know she had even tried to intertwine their fingers one day! But either Diana was dodging the subject…
Or she was the most oblivious of geniuses. Yet she never seemed to respond to her attempts at seduction. Damn it, Cavendish..
“So you're still here,” Sucy noticed when Akko threw her bag on the bed.
“Yup.”
“Aren’t they changing your team?”
“Nope.”
“That's so stupid, you're an Omega, I'm an Alpha.”
“Yup.”
“...”
“...”
“Nice. I’m keeping my guinea pig.”
“Sucy!” Lotte cried.
“The only thing is, I'll have to be isolated during my next heat, even if I'm on suppressants. They're afraid I'll trigger your rut.” Akko crossed her arms behind her head and looked up at the mattress above her.
“I came into our dorm while you were in heat. If I was going to react to your heat, I would have already,” Sucy shrugged. “Then again, I'd rather throw up acid and bleach than come into rut.”
“You were on suppressants,” Akko pointed out.
“No, I lied. I don’t take any.”
Akko suddenly turned her head and choked on her saliva.
“W-What?! But that’s totally–”
“Irresponsible? Oh Akko, if I wanted to fuck you, I would have done it before Cavendish even gave you her jacket,” Sucy pointed out. Akko blushed furiously and stammered. “But I'm not. If I want to get into rut, I'd need a pheromone injection.”
“An… Injection?”
“Yup. It happens to those who suffer from Rut Suppression Syndrome. You have to let the rut out at least once a year. I often do this during summer break when I go home for two months.”
“Rut Suppression Syndrome?”
“When an Alpha consciously or unconsciously avoids their ruts for very long periods of time, this can lead to sudden, out-of-cycle ruts and pain.”
“And how do you manage to… You know… Manage the urge to…”
“Mushrooms.”
“Huh? What do you mean–”
“ Mushrooms. ”
Akko grimaced in disgust.
“Okay, this conversation is getting way too specific.” Lotte sat up in bed and put down her book. “I refuse to hear another word about a rut or heat for the rest of the evening!”
“Oh, but our little Omega asks so many questions,” Sucy snickered.
“It's irresponsible to go out without a suppressant, Sucy!” Lotte looked at her coldly. “Even if you suppress your ruts, imagine if an accident were to happen?”
“I remind you that I slept here during the entirety of Akko’s heat…”
“And Diana almost killed you for it,” Akko laughed, recalling the memory. “You were ordered to sleep in the Green Team’s dorm!”
“I had to come back for my babies.” Sucy touched her mushroom patch. “And there was no accident. I didn't need any pills or shots.”
“That’s still completely irresponsible!” Lotte scowled at her, and Sucy raised her eyebrows.
“It’s okay, I could be like the Peach Team captain.”
“Chloé?” Akko asked.
“Yup. Oh, even with a scent blocker, she stinks like the Alpha who equips suppressants. She's a danger,” Sucy turned from her chair, and suddenly her expression was serious. “If you feel your heat starting, you stay away from this damn team.”
“What, but Sarah and Elfriede are nice…”
“Don't go near Chloe.”
Akko sat up suddenly as Sucy's voice turned cold, and the air filled with an incense that caught Akko by the throat. It was bitter, sharp, and unpleasant. Akko instinctively shrank back in her bed, and her eyes filled with tears for no apparent reason.
“If she even tries to approach you when your heat comes, you're looking for Diana—No, you're looking for me .”
“B… But I never had a problem with her…” Akko squeaked, remembering the classes they shared together.
“Because she thought you were Beta. So, for the love of the Nines, keep a low profile around her. There have been several incidents already, but she always manages to get away with it. Her parents are rich, she'll be able to pretend to be innocent until she gets what she wants. She's acting discreetly; the teachers know what she's doing but don't have enough evidence to get her expelled. Her parents have power, Akko. Don't forget that.”
Akko crossed her arms around her knees and nodded.
“An Alpha who senses an Omega in heat, no matter which Alpha, will have their instincts screaming. There are just some Alphas with more morals than others,” Sucy groaned and looked out the window. Lotte climbed out of bed, and the smell of incense subsided as Lotte, surprisingly, pulled her into a hug.
“All Alphas…?” Akko asked timidly.
“All of them. To breed. To claim. To possess. ” Sucy explained, counting on her fingers. “And with low morals? What if you come across an Alpha with high aggression? Extreme territoriality, they mark relentlessly, obsessively, claiming everything to indicate what is theirs . They growl, they snarl, they bite, and all other dominant and violent behaviours to be sure. So, if you smell an odour that oppresses you, as if pheromones are chasing you? Run away, especially if it's an Alpha with extreme immorality.”
“A… highly aggressive Alpha …?” Akko asked timidly, hugging Alcor to her chest.
“A highly aggressive Alpha is an Alpha whose dynatype is AA. They will have medium aggression if they are AB and slight aggression if they are AO. Beware of AAs, Akko.” Sucy told her.
“And you, what are you?”
“AA.”
“BUT WHY ARE YOU TELLING ME THAT THEN?”
Sucy snickered, even though she still seemed tense. And this information didn't reassure Akko at all, especially at the thought of bonding with an Alpha one day.
And as she lay down and closed her eyes, her thoughts couldn't help but wander to a certain blonde Alpha...
Notes:
Plot is slowly getting here...
I hope you all don't mind shorter chapters! I know I usually post long things but around 4K words is a good beginning for me.
XX, until next chapter...(For me Chloé is the perfect rival for Diana as she canonically hates her in Chamber of Time and honestly she looks like she has a dead rat in the hair...)
Chapter 4: Closer
Notes:
Shall I remain you that this fanfic has the tag "Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings" for some reasons.
This chapter is one of those reason.
I think it will be the only time I pull put some TW in beginning notes.
And of course I precise that I ABSOLUTELY DO NO agree with what a character will say/do. It's just for the angst.
Anyway, enjoy!
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
“I broke apart my insides
(Help me) I've got no soul to sell
(Help me) the only thing that works for me
Help me get away from myself
I wanna fuck you like an animal
I wanna feel you from the inside ”
The blue team was known for being one of the quietest. Not the most tranquil, as the Alpha's natural calm was offset by Hannah and Barbara's giggling and chatter. Yet the grunts echoing through the dorm that night weren't the work of either Beta.
The sting on her forearm itched, but her mind was already too far gone to care. Not far enough to lose control, but too far gone to sleep. Her hips bucked rapidly against the pillow as her nose lodged deeper against the stain she'd been sniffing for 45 minutes now. Four orgasms now, but her erection didn't seem to be weakening. Quite the opposite.
Diana groaned violently as another orgasm rocked her. She rolled her eyes as drool dripped from the corners of her lips. Her gaze was heavy, hair plastered to her forehead and still, the groans kept coming.
Diana knew it was inappropriate. She should have done what she did every time her rut took hold of her: a suppressant, a night's sleep, plenty of fresh water. But tonight, while Barbara and Hannah were sleeping in Avery's dorm for a sleepover, her instincts had taken over. All it took was a hint of the scent locked in her trunk for her body to shut down on its own.
She had been careful to lock the jacket away while waiting for Akko's scent to subside. She had hoped it would be just enough to think clearly again. Just a little
Just enough to get it out without her brain short-circuiting with lust. But of course, life had other plans.
The suppressant she'd injected earlier had only managed to keep her confined to her dorm. She'd hesitated to take a second one, but her body had already chosen its nighttime activity. Diana had never usually needed two suppressants. One was enough; a shot could immediately bring her back down from her grotesque instincts that made her act vulgarly. But since Akko had manifested, things had… Changed.
She bit into the jacket, stifling another moan. Another orgasm. Her whole body trembled, the muscles in her back slick with sweat. She gasped as she looked beneath her. Her second pillow, which was usually under her bed, was soaked and stained with cum and slick. She could feel her tip becoming too sensitive to continue, but the erection twitched and Diana felt her heart pounding down there.
“Get a grip on yourself, you're a Cavendish…” She whispered before curling up in bed. She closed her eyes and clutched the jacket without realizing it.
Going on a rut was already an awkward enough event in itself, even more so when you were a Cavendish. Diana had always done everything she could to make her ruts go as smoothly as possible. Her secondary gender had manifested itself a little before she was sixteen, even though no one had ever doubted what she was. If she had been anything else, she would have been the shame of her family... Already, the idea that she was an Alpha AB frustrated a large part of the British aristocracy. When her mother had expressed the wish to marry a Beta at the time instead of an Alpha, the criticism had been astounding. So when Diana was born? First Alpha heiress to the AB dynatype? People had shouted and booed her family, not thinking she was capable of taking charge.
Diana had always made sure her ruts went unnoticed. She had failed once, when Daryl came into her room one night at the wrong time. Alphas her age had advised her at the time to seek out prostitutes in Leith Links, Edinburgh, but Diana had sternly refused. Her first time would be with someone she loved, outside of the rut, outside of the heat. Alpha, Beta, or Omega.
She sighed as her body shuddered. She knew she should take a shower, light a candle to kill the scent of her pheromones, but her body refused to do anything but sway her hips. Her mind flooded with images of Akko as she gently closed her eyes. Her laughter, her eyes, her smiles. How her hands were smaller than Diana's, how her body melted perfectly into a hug…
“Ak… Akko…” Diana moaned as her hand found the still-hard, throbbing erection. Her wrist slowly swung around the member as she buried her face in the jacket. Her thoughts turned to her best friend, the intoxicating scent making her head spin, her gums above her canines feeling like they were burning —a clear sign that her glands were eager to bite down on something. Her pupils blew wide as the image took hold; Akko, on her knees, chest pressed the mattress, thighs parted, slick dripping onto the sheets, hips raised and in full heat came to her mind. She imagined her moaning, whimpering like she had when her heat first kicked in, begging for Diana and Diana alone. And Diana? Diana would give her everything, set the pace she wanted. She would kiss her, she would let her lips and tongue wander just above the glands on the nape of her neck, she would ride her or let her ride her, however Akko wanted. Anything for Akko, anything for her Akko.
Diana bit the jacket where Akko had rubbed herself. Her thoughts melted into nothing but Akko and her pheromones, her heart pounding in her ears and in her hand. She found herself jealous of her own garment that had come into contact with Akko's entire sex, that had had the honour of massaging her clit, the privilege of soaking itself in her wetness, of drowning in every squeak and moan.
A more powerful orgasm took hold of her when her imagination presented the vision of Akko riding her as her knot bound them together. Diana stifled a scream as tears of overstimulation streamed down her cheeks. She looked at her hand and spread her fingers, staring at the sperm sticking to her fingers before inhaling deeply. It wasn’t the orgasm that broke her. It was what came after. Her breath turned into a sob of guilt, and her shoulders shook.
A Cavendish didn't cry. But Diana couldn't help it. Guilt crept up her, like an insect up her spine. She'd always promised herself she wouldn't lose control, that she'd be better than that, that she'd fight against nature to show that Omegas weren't just... walking holes to be filled, like some other Alphas thought. Then there was Akko, her best friend, who had made Diana take two suppressants because her scent was so overwhelming. Akko, who, during her heat, had laughed at Diana, not knowing that all Diana wanted to do was carry her to her own dorm and help her create a comfortable nest in her bed. Help her get rid of the discomfort by filling her up, with long, slow movements of her hips, hands all over her...
Diana buried her head in the jacket and inhaled Akko's scent, tears refusing to stop. She was supposed to be better than this.
To be the safe one.
But safe people didn’t rut into clothing like it owed them comfort before crying because it’s soaked in someone else’s scent.
“Ever since my second gender came out, I feel like people are looking at me differently,” Akko grumbled as she bit into her toast one morning. The three teams were having lunch together, and an awkward silence had fallen over them ever since Akko arrived.
“You’re talking nonsense,” Amanda said, rolling her eyes. “You're still the same as before.”
Akko grimaced and buried her face in her hands and pouted. “It's like I'm something fragile now. Some Alphas turn around in the halls, and last time one even wanted to help me carry my books. Am I the saviour of magic, or a frail, defenceless being?!” Akko slammed her hands on the table, and everyone jumped. Diana glanced over and set her teacup down with a soft clink.
“Akko has any suitors?” Amanda giggled before moving closer to Akko with a smirk. The scent of scorched ash mixed with lemon, sharp and biting, as Akko tensed.
“Don’t talk nonsense,” the Japanese tried to push Amanda away, but the latter had put her arms around her shoulders.
“Oh, come on, we're finally paying attention to you! Maybe being an Omega will help you! You know, get the attention of people you like or…”
“No!” Akko said suddenly. “I refuse to attract someone just because I’m an Omega!” Her voice rose in pitch as she put her hands around her neck, holding her collar tightly. “I… I’m more than that! And I don’t want to finally be noticed just because I’m… like this…”
Diana thought Akko had given her a discreet look. She closed her eyes and took a sip of her tea, trying to swallow her guilty conscience with her Earl Grey. She coughed into her hand and crossed her arms over her chest. “Akko’s right. Alpha, Beta, Omega… You shouldn’t pay attention to that when you’re attracted to someone. It’s just a detail.”
“It's genetics and nature.” A cold voice sounded behind her. Diana immediately tensed and subconsciously sought to move closer to Akko.
“Chloé!” Akko smiled, not noticing Amanda and Sucy's icy stares.
“Atsuko,” Chloé smiled coldly. “I heard your second gender has… awakened.”
“It’s private,” Sucy quickly retorted.
“Of course, of course…” Chloé ran a hand through her golden hair as her dark gaze fell on Akko, her pupils dilating slightly. “But nature is made for a reason, and we can't run away from nature, you know. It's not boxes, just there to guide us. It's beautiful, and there's no weakness in bending to the laws of nature.”
“Shut up, Chloé,” Amanda growled.
“I'm not saying anything bad,” Chloé held up her hands. “I just wanted to welcome a new Omega. It's such an intense world, isn't it? But you'll see. You get used to it very quickly.” Her eyes glittered with an eerie glow. “Especially when you're surrounded by good people.”
Amanda and Sucy suddenly stood up but were held back by Jasminka and Lotte. Chloé leaned toward Akko, her finger approaching the collar. Diana immediately tensed, violently grabbing Chloé's wrist.
“I don't think your biology class is required here. You've got the wrong audience. Biology has nothing to do with feelings,” Diana snapped, teeth bared before she could stop herself. Chloé frowned, standing a few inches taller than her.
“How poetic, Cavendish. Always the big words, always believing that we can rewrite the world with tea and principles. But tell me, in your beautiful ideals… who takes care of the Omega in heat? Who soothes the Alpha during her rut? This isn't a debate, it's a reality. A necessity. We can play the progressives, pretend that everything is fluid, equal… But deep down, when the heat rises, we all know who bites, and who moans…” Chloé licked her lower lip and leaned towards her ear. “And I know that even you, Cavendish, can't resist the call of an Omega…”
Diana's blood ran cold as the memories of the jacket came flooding back to her. Her pupils constricted as Chloé gave her one last smile before walking away.
“Do you understand why I told you to stay away from Chloé?” Diana heard Sucy say from behind and Akko muttered something into her toast.
'Even you can't resist the call of an Omega...' No.
Diana was better than that.
It was just a mistake. A moment of weakness. It won't happen again. Akko was safe with her. And Diana will never touch her. Akko was her best friend. Not a piece of meat...
“Diana–”
"No."
"Please-"
“I’m not having this conversation.”
“I thought you were supposed to wash that jacket–”
“It’s planned.”
“Before or after you finish traumatising it?”
“Hannah!” Barbara scolded her as Diana turned red. Her roommates had found the jacket by accident, and the atmosphere that evening was tense.
“What, someone had to say it!” Hannah touched the jacket with her wand. “I think we should burn it.”
“We are not going to burn my jacket!” Diana exclaimed and snatched it from Barbara’s hands.
“Don’t tell me you’re still planning to use that thing?”
“Hannah!” Diana and Barbara shouted. The blonde put her hands in her arms and lay down in bed.
“It was an accident. I don't know what happened. We’re not talking about this. And definitely not a word to Akko.”
Hannah grimaced, covering her nose. The lavender scent was so strong that even the two Betas could smell the pheromones. She ran a hand over her face and sat down on the chair in the corner. She clasped her hands together and pointed at Diana with her index fingers. “At what point in our studies did you go from 'cold and unattainable' to… this?”
“Since I stopped masking around you two,” Diana muttered into her pillow, “and I’m starting to think it was a mistake.”
“Don't say that!” Barbara put her hands on her hips and frowned. “It felt like we were miles away from you back then. And look at us now! Inseparable, close…
“A loser team, yes…” Hannah rolled her eyes but couldn't help but smile. She walked over and sat next to Barbara and let her head fall into Diana's lap. “But I wouldn't change it for the world. Even if our team captain is a blind, autistic Alpha.”
“I'm not 'blind,'” the blonde groaned.
“You didn’t deny autism.”
“Why should I?”
Hannah burst out laughing, and Barbara pulled them into a clumsy but heartfelt hug. Diana sighed, a little in spite of herself. The soothing pheromones of her two friends enveloped her, giving her some respite for the first time in days.
“Do you…” Diana began awkwardly, “think what I did was disrespectful to Akko?”
Hannah and Barbara blinked and looked at her. Hannah opened her mouth, closed it, frowned, raised her hand as if to ask a question.
“Are you fucking daft?”
“Hannah!”
“What! She's asking that question, as if Akko hadn't used her jacket herself as if it were the best sex toy possible!”
The image of Akko squirming on her jacket made Diana's pupils dilate. She inhaled heavily as her mouth moved before her brain caught up. “Yes, but…”
“No buts!” Hannah cried. “Yeah, you two exploded over the same jacket, but that's just nature! And it's not like you did it for any smell, you did it because it was Akko .”
“Exactly!” Diana suddenly stood up and crossed her arms over her chest. “She's Akko. My best friend. I owe her respect, not… rubbing myself on a jacket just because it smells. Especially since I want to prove to her that my view of her hasn't changed, despite her second gender.”
“Oh, I can assure you, your view of her hasn't changed.” Barbara snickered.
"Pardon?"
“Forget Barb. She's blind…”
Diana frowned as her two friends sighed. Blind? In what way? She just wanted to be sure she respected Akko as a person! To be a safe friend, someone Akko wouldn't be afraid of and someone who knew how to control herself despite a rut!
“Miss Cavendish, you exceed expectations, as always. You have integrated complex biological understanding with nuanced sociopolitical analysis. A paper worthy of a model Alpha,” Finnelan announced, placing her paper on her table. Diana nodded in thanks as Amanda leaned forward slightly to look at her paper. Finnelan arched an eyebrow and searched through the pile in her hand for the redhead's paper. “Miss O'Neill, this is neither comedy nor fiction. This is a biology exam. Please review the difference between Alpha and Omega physiology immediately.”
“I know my differences!” Amanda exclaimed and Finnelan pinched the bridge of her nose.
“To the question 'why is it medically dangerous to interrupt a rut mid-cycle with hormonal blockers rather than pre-rut suppressants? Include potential long-term side effects,' you replied 'Stopping a rut halfway is dangerous for the Omega because their uterus gets confused and starts cramping aggressively. They cry, get the chills, and sometimes enter a secondary heat. You have to feed them chocolate and rub their tummy clockwise." Do you see the problem, Miss O'Neill?
Sucy, who was next to Amanda, giggled as she looked away. Amanda frowned and looked at her copy.
"No?"
“This describes an Omega in heat, not an Alpha in rut. Also, uterine cramps are irrelevant here. And what about chocolate?”
“Hey, chocolate works for me when I’m in rut.”
Finnelan sighed loudly and moved to hand out the rest of the papers. Diana followed her with her eyes before feeling her paper being snatched from her hands.
“Amanda–”
“Calm down, Cavendish, I'm just comparing our answers to see where I went wrong. Shit, she really picked on my answers to avoid giving me full marks.”
“I'd say she was looking for points, judging by your grade,” Sucy looked at the magnificent 48/100 marked in red on Amanda's paper. “Why did you answer question 5 'A n Alpha who resists a rut is either very old or already dead. But if not, they probably trained in scent-blocking jutsu, or wore one of those Beta colognes that makes you smell like wet gravel. Also maybe they're emotionally repressed. Or British. '”
“Honestly? I was missing examples. Then I saw Cavendish.”
“O'Neill,” Diana groaned.
“What? We've never seen you lose control. You literally take care of Omegas during their heat. How do you do it? Do you fuck someone in secret? Do you…”
“Amanda! Before you ask questions about my personal life, I recommend you learn your lessons.”
“Pff, you don't need to learn to know that some Alphas are big assholes who think the world belongs to them,” Amanda put her legs up on her desk.
“You're an Alpha,” Sucy reminded her.
“Yes, but not a bitch. I'm for equality. I support everyone's rights… and wrongs. So if I have to punch someone, no matter their second gender, I'll do it.”
“I doubt you want to end up muzzled again,” Diana pointed out.
“I still don't regret anything. She said the Betas were useless. I'm against erasing the Betas from history.”
“Wise words for someone who mistakes brains for soup,” Sucy muttered, absent-mindedly inspecting her nails.
“What can I say, I'm an angel in a wolf's clothing.”
“Is that why you answered question 8 with the part of the brain that activates during rut is probably the brain. Or the spine. Whatever — it’s the horny part? Either way, it makes Alphas territorial and sniffy. They stop thinking and start barking. Also, they get super strength. Like werewolves,' because you're an animal?” Sucy teased her again.
“You seriously wrote that?” Diana asked through gritted teeth.
“Guilty,” Amanda held up her hands with a smirk. “Needed to add a little spice to that test.”
“It's not spice, it's recklessness with a touch of fermented stupidity,” Sucy sighed. “If Finnelan reads this too often, she'll end up in a rut of frustration.”
“Ah well, considering the rest of my copy…” Amanda whistled.
“Miss de Montmorency, you have a strong grasp of biological concepts. However, reflective answers reveal a concerning lack of sensitivity toward inter-rank ethics. Please schedule a feedback session,” Finnelan announced from behind them. Amanda whirled around suddenly, nearly falling out of her chair, while Diana only glanced over. Chloé rolled her eyes and thanked Finnelan before grumbling.
“You still got an 87!” Her neighbour tried to encourage her.
“To my response,' Omega submission behaviours are largely instinctual and serve a biological purpose,' she wrote, ' You mistake submission for evolution, not trauma response. That’s a dangerous belief. ' It's not 'dangerous,' it's realistic. An Omega who presents themselves properly to an Alpha is biological. In their genes.”
Diana gritted her teeth. The rest of the class was slowly starting to empty. Amanda, Sucy, and Jasminka pulled her out of the classroom to join Akko's junior biology class. She sighed, wondering how someone like Chloé was accepted into an Alpha/Beta/Omega school.
It was true that many aristocratic families still had this image of Omegas who submitted by 'biology'. Alphas married each other to produce an AA heir, then on the side they had extramarital affairs with Omegas to satisfy their ruts. Very often, Omegas were not even seen as partners, but only as 'toys'. They were then in the service of servants and the thankless tasks.
Only there to serve, to be seen and desired.
Diana had been fortunate to have been born a Cavendish, knowing that the Cavendishes had always fought for the rights of Omegas. Despite arranged marriages in the past, extramarital affairs had always been consensual between two people who loved each other. Diana had therefore grown up knowing the respect, equality, brotherhood, and freedom of Omegas.
Chloé hadn't... really been that lucky...
“Deeply biased toward Alpha convenience? Reinforces traditional dominance hierarchy? Thinly veiled preference for status-quo relationships? Dismisses all sociopolitical progress as fantasy? Functional argument but lacking perspective from marginalised individuals?!” Chloé shouted from behind the group. “What does she think I am, an Omega rights advocate?”
“Chloé… Maybe your answers were a little… borderline…” Sarah, who was waiting for Chloé in front of the classroom with Elfried, tried.
“Borderline? I'm just stating facts! This is science, pure biology. If an Omega loses control during heat, it's not a whim: it's a hormonal response, a natural mechanism. The Alpha, for their part, is simply reacting to this signal by rutting, which is nothing more than another biological imperative. However, when it's an Omega in heat who seeks contact, we speak of “need,” we invoke compassion, concern. But as soon as an Alpha, in full rut, exhibits the same behaviour dictated by an equally natural impulse, we cry sexual assault. Why this double standard? We're talking about nature here, about impulses deeply rooted in our species!”
“Because an Alpha has more control during their rut than an Omega,” Diana replied icily. She turned quickly, locking eyes with Chloé. They were only a few inches apart. Chloé was barely an inch taller than her, but it was enough for her to tilt her chin slightly in arrogance. “You refuse to admit it, but instinct doesn't excuse everything. No impulse, no matter how violent, can override morality. We are not animals.”
“You talk about morality as if it can overcome biology,” Chloé laughed, a smirk playing at the corner of her lips. “As if fighting your own nature isn't a form of denial. An Alpha is built to respond to an Omega in heat, and vice versa. That bond is what maintains the balance.”
“What you call balance is a hypocritical justification for domination.”
“I'm talking about complementarity!” Chloé retorted, raising her voice. “When an Omega is in heat, they call out to an Alpha. They beg. They seek them out. They provoke them. And when the Alpha takes them, they simply answer that call. The Alpha takes care of the Omega. No matter how.”
“No matter how?!” Diana gave a short, shocked laugh. “Do you hear what you’re saying? ‘No matter how’? You talk about care by glorifying coercion. You think a cry of pain and distress is an invitation. Omegas aren’t biological objects here just to please you! They’re people, and you don’t take care of anyone by using them.”
“You’re acting like this is about morals, but you forget that both the rut and the heat are sacred moments, pillars of our species. Without them, there is no connection, no meaning, no heritage. You want to control everything, deny everything, but an Alpha who refuses to act during their rut is unnatural! The rut is there to continue families, to mate with the Omega! Heats are there to be fertile!”
“Then nature can go to hell. I’ll fight it every time,” Diana hissed, taking a step forward. Her hands were shaking with rage.
“And what if it was Akko begging?” Chloé suddenly said, her tone lower. Slower.
And Diana stopped. Her breath hitched. A brutal silence fell between them as Chloé's smile stretched.
“She had that look when she was hurting, last time. I saw it… I felt it … You could tell she needed a strong Alpha. You could tell she needed someone to guide her. Someone to mark her. Maybe that's what she needs, right? Someone with… some bite who'll keep her in bed.”
Diana's pupils constricted. Her jaw tightened, her jaw clenched. Her fists were so tight, her nails cut into her skin. When she spoke, her voice was a whisper of rage. “Don't ever talk about Akko again like she's just a body waiting to be bred. In fact, don't talk about Akko at all.”
“I'm just saying what everyone else is thinking. She's an Omega, and that's her role .”
“She’s Akko. A person, not a title. Not a fucking body to fill! Not a walking need, not a vessel to satisfy the desires of an Alpha with an oversized ego in need of domination! And if you think a bond is formed through coercion and power, then you don’t know what it means to love her!”
“Love her?” Chloé echoed, brow arched. “Do you want to preserve her or do you want to possess her, Diana? Because from where I stand, you seem… Much closer to the rut than you think you are.” The air began to vibrate between them. Diana snarled, her entire body shaking with anger. The urge to strike Chloé climbed her spine like fire. Chloé approached slowly, arms crossed. A defiant smile stretched her lips with an air of too much calm, almost sureness. Then she leaned in, just enough so that her breath vibrated against Diana’s ear. “You don’t know what she’s capable of. What she could endure. What she’d enjoy … She'd moan, yes. But she'd end up begging for more, harder, deeper, until I filled her, until she felt my knot pounding inside her, until she couldn't take it any more. And you know what? She’d take it. Every. Fucking. Second. Like royalty. And when I’m done? She’d be grateful .”
Diana saw more than red. Her blood froze before pumping out again like a torrent of hatred. She grabbed Chloé by the collar of her shirt and slammed her against a nearby wall. Her forearm slid against her throat; her voice was low, raspy, distorted by a cold anger that made every syllable tremble when it came out. “Touch her. Even with your finger. Touch her, and I swear I’ll end you. Got it? I don’t care what you think your Alpha right is. If you sully her, if you continue to see her only like that, I will make sure to kill you. Not socially. Not mentally. Not morally. Physically. With my own fists.”
Chloé yelped and tried to break free, but Diana pressed harder. Her breathing quickened, her body tensed, and she could feel the rut rising.
She suddenly separated from Chloé when the doors to Akko's classroom flew open. Akko was already there, running towards them, throwing her arms around Diana's neck.
“Hey,” she whispered into a tight hug. Diana squeezed her tighter, nuzzling her nose into the back of her neck. She inhaled the scent deeply, her gaze never leaving Chloé.
“Hey.”
“What's going on here? You seem tense,” Akko asked her. Her eyebrows furrowed when she noticed Chloé. “Hey, Chloé.”
“Hi…” Chloé whispered, looking away, her hand rubbing the red area on her throat.
“You didn't get into a fight, did you? And why are Sucy and Amanda so white? Amanda looks like she's about to kill someone.”
“Fight? Me?” Diana asked innocently as she began to guide Akko down the hall, one hand against her lower back. “I will not stoop to fighting, especially not against Chloé. She’s not worth it. And I refuse to wear a muzzle outside of my medical hours. That’s an O’Neill problem, not mine.”
Amanda remained silent, her gaze never leaving Chloé either. She turned her head toward Diana and nodded. Diana silently thanked the redhead and Sucy for not getting involved with Chloé. If anyone was going to deal with this… fascist, it would be Diana.
Notes:
Hi!
So... Things are getting... serious? I guess?
I hope you enjoyed the chapter! As I said in my other fanfic, I couldn't write because i was actually in Scotland for college. But now I'm back!
