"Happy birthday, hyung, how does it feel to be the first one of us to be twenty?" Namjoon asks Seokjin when the older one opens his eyes.
"I feel old… and also weird. It's such a weird feeling, I've been seeing colors all my life and right now I don't see it anymore. I think I'll need some time to get used to this." Seokjin replies and shrugs.
"Do you have any idea who your soulmate is?" Jeongguk peeps from behind Namjoon with his really big brown eyes full of wonder.
Seokjin shakes his head. "No. But when the day comes, I hope they are going to be nice," he says to the others and starts cutting his cake.
"You have us." Hobi smiles and hugs the oldest one of the group.
“I hope your cake is gonna taste even better than it looks.” Taehyung says and takes the first piece of cake even if Seokjin should be the first one to eat the cake, but the older one lets it slide, it's not that big of a deal, for now.
Yoongi takes the second piece and starts eating it. “This is the best cake I've ever eaten in my life,” he says with the mischief on his face.
“Stop bullshiting, Yoongi-chi,” Seokjin sighs and takes a piece of the cake also. “You know that I know when you are lying your fucking ass off.”
“Language,” Yoongi points to Jeongguk and Taehyung with his head and shrugs. “Worth a try,” and sits on the sofa.
“Now that I cut the cake, whoever didn't take a piece, you can now take it.” Seokjin gives a smile to everyone except the two who took the piece before, Yoongi and Taehyung.
“Thanks hyung,” Jeongguk smiles back at Seokjin and starts eating. “Woah this is a really good cake.”
“Thank you Kookie, I made it myself.” Jin smiles at the youngest of the group. “Why is the youngest one the most polite one of you idiots?” He grumbles under his breath loud enough for the others to hear.
“Well you teached him manners.” Hobi smiles.
“I am so proud of my work.” Seokjin says with a satisfied smile.
Tae rolls his eyes but doesn't say anything.
Seokjin is the oldest of the six of them, who just turned twenty, on the fourth of December. Yoongi is only three months younger than him, so the next big birthday it's going to be his. Then there is Hoseok who is eighteen and Namjoon is the same age as Hobi too. The youngest ones are Taehyung - who is sixteen and Jeongguk is fifteen years old.
Seokjin practically raised Jeongguk and Tae himself, as he likes to say, being five years older and being the best hyung the world had ever seen.
After they ate the cake, they stayed in the house and decided to watch a movie. One after another they fall asleep on the couch.
Seokjin wakes up one after another with a hot coffee and a breakfast on the table.
“Mom and dad helped me make it.” Seokjin says before anyone can say anything. They all sit on the couch with blankets on them and munch on their breakfast.
It is Sunday so they eat it without any hurry.
“Thank you all for coming to my birthday and celebrating it with me.”
“In three months it's Yoongi hyung's turn.” Tae says.
“We are going to be old together, Yoongi-chi.” Seokjin says with a fake laugh.
Yoongi smiles at Jin’s words.

They all get together to celebrate Yoongi's 20th birthday.
"Are you going to kiss Namjoon today?" Jeongguk asks with eyes full of wonder.
"No, not today, kiddo," Yoongi shakes his head, "I'll kiss him on his birthday."
The maknae of the group pouts. "But why? You two are made for each other?" He questions the other one.
"We don't want to rush anything and we never really gave too much shit about this, Gguk." Yoongi shrugs in response.
"Aaahhh…” there is a little pause. “...Okay."
Yoongi ruffles the Gguk’s hair. “You don't have anything to worry about, kid. This is something us two need to worry about.” He sends Kookie a smile.
Yoongi takes the food he prepared to the living room of his family's house.
"Baby, happy birthday." Namjoon says and kisses Yoongi on the cheek.
"Okay I have a question." Seokjin says with a wicked smile on his face.
Yoongi rolls his eyes. "What do you want to know?"
By the looks of it, someone is going to say something stupid and by “someone”, it was Seokjin.
"So you two are not gonna do it for a year and a half?" Jin asks with an innocent face.
"Hyung?! What the hell is this question?!" Namjoon looks at Jin like he has seen a ghost. "Also minors are here, watch your mouth." And points at Taehyung and Jeongguk.
"It is not like I haven't heard them." Tae shrugs and playfully puts his hands on Jeongguk's ears. "But this one is almost sixteen."
"I am not that innocent, people." Jeongguk rolls his eyes and stuffs his mouth with chips with the most adorable pout on his lips.
"You are always gonna be the innocent one in my eyes, Gguk." Yoongi says and pats Jeongguk’s hair. The youngest plays pretend and shoves him dramatically away.
“The baby is growing up so fast.” Hoseok sighs.
“Eat up guys.” Yoongi says and points at the food he put on the coffee table in the living room. “The food is not gonna eat itself.”
As he is saying that the others quickly each take some food from the bowls (it's mostly snacks) and pour some soft drinks into their glasses.
“Let's raise a glass, it's for Yoongi, to always be the best you can be!” Seokjin says and they all cheer with their soda.
They all sing the birthday song, have some cake that of course, some of it lends on Yoongi’s face (the courtesy of his boyfriend). They play some video games, chat and laugh at stupid stories that they have of each other and other people, drink some more and eat snacks.
“Yoongi, now that you see without colors, and you are like me,” Seokjin says and gives a box with a bow on it, “I need to welcome you to the club.” He winks to the birthday boy. “Please open it.”
The box from where Tae is standing looks only black but if you move it a little bit, it sparkles. It is a beautiful square box but it is not big, you can hold it with one hand easily.
Yoongi does what Seokjin told him and in the box there is a piece of paper and a key.
“What is this for, hyung?” Yoongi asks and turns the key in hand to look at the item better.
“I am starting a tradition.” The oldest boy smiles. “You all gonna be gifted this when you are going to be twenty.” He adds with a mysterious voice.
Seokjin looks at the others in the room. “Please read whatever it is on the paper when you are alone and yes, only you and me can know what's on that paper. For now. When you are old enough you are going to know what the secret is.” He threatens with a finger, “no peeking.”
The others take this really seriously and they do not try to look at what it is on the paper. Yoongi turns away from them and reads what is written on the paper. After some moments he snickers and puts the now crumbled paper into his pocket. Seokjin winks at him.
“I really want to know what it said there.” Jeongguk whispers to Taehyung and the other one hums in agreement.
“I think we all need to wait until we are twenty.” Tae shrugs. “Because there is no way that those two are going to tell us.”
Seokjin takes the box back so he can give it to Hobi when it is his birthday and Yoongi puts the key into his pocket, so he won't lose it.
The late hour takes a toll on them so they slowly go home one by one.
“I am really happy that we all almost live next to each other and that we always find the time to have parties and to hang out,” Jeongguk says with a smile on his face, when all of them are still in Yoongi’s house.
“Yeah, this is really great.” Namjoon nods. “It would suck a little if we couldn't see each other that much.”
“Thankfully we can.” Hobi adds in too.

"Ho-bi!" Tae calls for the older boy.
Hoseok peeks out of the kitchen."What?"
"Happy birthday!" Taehyung grins like an idiot, hugs the birthday boy and kisses him on the cheek.
The birthday boy rolls his eyes but laughs. "You are an idiot, but thank you." There is also some blush on his face and Taehyung thinks it’s cute.
"This is why you have me." Taehyung winks.
“Please gather all the guys, it's almost midnight.”
“Yes hyung.” Tae says and goes to call the others.
When the clock strikes midnight, Hobi blows out the candles, they sing the birthday song and they all congratulate Hoseok. Hobi thanks them all with a wide smile on his face, blinks and shakes his head. “How weird is seeing like this.” He says and chuckles to himself.
“It's weird isn't it?” Seokjin says and hugs Hobi. “One moment it's all good and the next… you see only in white and black.”
Jeongguk starts cutting down the cake and he puts it on the six plates that Hoseok put on the table.
Then the oldest one also adds. “You'll get used to it, don't worry.”
“Welcome to the club.” Yoongi says.
“At least you know that Namjoon is your soulmate.” Hoseok grumbles. “But I'll survive.” He takes a piece of his birthday cake and hums at the taste.
Namjoon shakes his head. “You can never know what the universe has for you.”
“Do you guys think that mine and Seokjin hyung’s soulmates are close?” Hobi asks after some time of complete silence, where everyone was lost in their thoughts.
“Maybe.” Jeongguk says after some time of thinking.
Tae nods. “I think they are really close.”
“The future is going to find you, all you need is to wait.” Seokjin peeps and blushes, his ears turning red.
“The old man has a point.” Taehyung says and gets a flick of a finger to his forehead from Seokjin.
“Okay now to our tradition, that happened only once.” Seokjin already has a gift for Hoseok and it is the same that Yoongi had before.
“I hope you didn't make Yoongi hand you the same key that he got,” Namjoon laughs.
“I made six copies of the same key,” Seokjin shakes his head. “So no worries.”
Hoseok opens his gift and takes the key out to look at it closely. Then he steps a few steps back and reads what's on the paper that Seokjin gave him. He chuckles and hides the paper in his pocket. Now the trio, who knows the secret gift, sends each other knowing looks and tries not to laugh at the reaction of the not knowing boys.
“Oh c'mon what's so important on that freaking piece of paper?!” Namjoon groans and crosses his arms.
“You will soon know about this.” Hobi says and grins. “Next birthday it's yours after all.”
Joon starts pouting but Yoongi kisses him on the forehead to chase away the sad face so Namjoon brightens up right away.

“Come, come, quickly, we don't have much time!” Hoseok whispers when Taehyung and Jeongguk come to Namjoon’s house to celebrate his 20th birthday.
Everyone was excited, Namjoon should kiss Yoongi tonight and they are going to just confirm that they are soulmates. Even before Yoongi’s birthday they know that Namjoon and Yoongi belong together.
“Coming, coming!” Tae whispers back and Jeongguk behind him is grinning with a present for Namjoon.
They slowly and really quietly opened the door; even if they knew that there was no way Namjoon would hear this (because he was not at home) and decorated the house. Namjoon’s mom and dad were smiling from ear to ear to see all this in action and even helped them out.
“You guys are really good friends.” Namjoon's mom tells them and starts putting candles on the birthday cake with a huge grin on her face that says that she is really proud of Namjoon and them. The friends just smile at her words and nod. Namjoon’s dad starts blowing up the balloons and Taehyung goes to him to help him.
Yoongi is looking really stressed and he is watching the whole scene biting his nails but everything goes smoothly so in time he is more relaxed.
“Namjoon is coming, go to your positions!” Yoongi says quietly after looking at the watch - it's show time.
They all quickly just hide behind the big objects like a sofa and a bookcase and they close the lights to pretend that no one is home, it is a surprise birthday party. Namjoon has been clueless for the whole year, even if they gave him hints that he will have a birthday party for his 20th birthday. Probably he just thinks that Yoongi is going to invite him on a date or something, who knows. Taehyung never asked Yoongi what he told Namjoon.
They all hear an unlocking of the main door and Namjoon's mumbling something under his breath. “Mom, dad?” Namjoon kind of yells when he comes to the house and Seokjin quietly giggles. “Are you guys home?” Joon still yells around the house and he finally comes to the living room where all the others are.
“Happy birthday!” They all yell and Namjoon’s dad opens the lights so they all can see the shocked expression on Joon’s face.
“Guys…Thank you so much.” Namjoon is almost crying from happiness, his eyes are twinkling and he has his signature dimple smile on display. "You didn't have to do anything, but thank you."
"Stop thanking us you idiot, we did that because we love you." Seokjin rolls his eyes. Namjoon's parents grin in the background at the oldest friend's words. The boys all hug Namjoon and give him their presents except for Yoongi who said that he is going to give him the present later.
“Pizza is here and we two are going so you guys can have a party.” Namjoon's mom winks and both of the parents are gone. Of course before they are gone, they tell them to be good and not to cause trouble, like all parents but Joon doesn't mind, he even hugs them after they say the words.
They ate all the pizza (they are growing boys!) and they had a great time bickering and telling funny stories to each other about each one of them.
Tae looks at the clock and he sees that it's almost the 12th of September, and Yoongi goes slowly to Namjoon and tells him something. The taller one nods at Yoongi's words and they go somewhere.
“I think it's better if we leave them alone for some time.” Taehyung says to everyone and the others agree with him.
If you ask Taehyung, Yoongi and Namjoon make a perfect couple, almost like they are from some story. They understand and love each other on the same level, their love shown as early as when they were kids. They were and still are, best friends from childhood and that didn't stop them to be more, to be a couple. Taehyung envies them a little but he is still really happy that his friends are in love very much.
He just hopes that it is going to be the same with him and Jeongguk.
After a few minutes it is midnight and Taehyung hopes that everything goes well, that Yoongi and Namjoon are soulmates. He also wonders what will happen on his birthday, will he and Jeongguk be soulmates too? Taehyung stuffs his mouth with food so he wouldn't think so much, it makes his head hurt.
“Guys! We are soulmates!” Yoongi says and he is grinning from ear to ear.
They congratulate them and they sing a birthday song to Namjoon. He blew the candles on the cake with a smile on his face and kissed Yoongi in front of everyone. There is a light blush on Yoongi's face but Taehyung thinks it's cute, they are a really cute couple. It is well past midnight and they were going to celebrate until morning but Joon says to all of them to go to sleep if they are tired.
“You guys are not going to sleep before I continue what I started.” Jin wiggles with his eyebrows and Namjoon perks up in his chair.
Hobi makes some happy music with his mouth and gives Joon the box that Seokjin already gave Hoseok and Yoongi.
Taehyung and Jeongguk look at each other and sigh, there is no way of bribing the other two to tell them what it’s on that damn paper.
Namjoon doesn't even look at the box, he goes straight to reading the secret.
The same reaction follows as the two of them had seen before. Joon makes a “zipping his mouth” mimic and throws away the invisible key.
Jeongguk just looks sadly at the paper that Namjin still has in his hands and shakes his head. Tae is also looking at Joon and stares at him as he would wish to make a hole in Namjoon.
But the birthday boy doesn't give in and he is as quiet as a mouse.
After that all of them scatter around to find a place in Namjoon’s house to sleep.
Namjoon's parents come at four in the morning to clean the whole house but they also leave some more food for them.
Jeongguk and Taehyung go the next day together to Tae's house because it's the closest to Namjoon's hyung's house. They are cuddling on the bed in Taehyung’s bedroom. Tae's parents are home, downstairs watching something on the television. They are used to seeing Jeongguk coming to see Tae almost every day so they just call for Taehyung when they see the younger boy at their door.
Jeongguk and Taehyung knew that they were soulmates even before they were of age. When they first met, (it was more than five years ago and they have been dating for a year now) they instantly clicked and they just knew that they belonged together.
“I want what they have.” Jeongguk mumbles to Taehyung and raises his head to see the older boy better.
Tae is drawing on Jeongguk’s skin with a finger. “We will.” He reassures the younger boy.
Kookie sits up. “How do you know that?” He asks with a hushed voice like it is a secret between them.
“Because I believe in us.” Tae says and sits up too. “There is no way that us two aren’t like Namjoon and Yoongi.” Taehyung continues calming Jeongguk down. “We act like they do, don't we? So I am really sure we are soulmates too.”
Jeongguk lays back down and Tae does the same so now they are in the same position as they were before.
“I hope so.” Jeongguk sighs.
“We are.” Tae repeats himself again. “There is no way it isn't true.”
“Should we wait like Namjoon and Yoongi did?” Jeongguk questions, but it's more like a mumble, like he doesn't want Tae to hear what he just said.
“I don't want to wait, I want to know as soon as possible.” Tae shakes his head and hugs the younger one closer.
“Yeah, same.” Kookie nods. “I just wanted to hear what you think, honestly.”
“I know I am your boyfriend, but you have to think for yourself too.” Taehyung scolds Jeongguk really lightly. “Don't just ask me, think for yourself too, yeah?” He kisses Kookie’s forehead.
Jeongguk groans. “But I think the same as you do.” He starts drawing on Tae's skin as the older one did before. “And I wanted to hear what you think, because I've made my decision before I even asked you.”
“OK, baby.” Tae whispers in the darkness of the room.
"I just…trust you so much," Jeongguk says after some moments, "so this is why I asked you." He repeats.
"Bunny, I was also joking a little." Tae smiles into Jeongguk’s chest and kisses him between his neck and shoulder. Jeongguk shivers a little but kisses Taehyung on the neck too.
"Babe, I love you." Jeongguk puts his nose in the curve of Tae's neck and inhales the sweet perfume that Taehyung always wears. He likes Tae's neutral scent even more (his nose is really sensitive) and the older boy knows that, but he can't go around school just smelling like he hasn't taken a shower in a week (he showers almost every day, thank you very much).
"I love you too, so much." Tae mumbles. "And nothing will come in between us." He also promises. They fall asleep after that, hugging each other.

“Let's just hang out this weekend.” Yoongi suggested on Thursday, when they have a usual once-a-week video call.
“Yes! We haven't hung out in quite a while.” Namjoon nods and starts eating some snacks that Taehyung doesn't know because on the camera it doesn't show the brand.
“Where should we go?” Jin asks.
“We have a big house, come to me.” Hoseok suggests and they all hum in approval.
“Okay, but we need to tell our parents so they don't go searching for us.” Jin laughs. “They will want to know where you are even if you are thirty.”
“They are impossible.” Yoongi murmurs.
“And what can we do?” Jeongguk sarcastically questions everyone.
Hoseok shrugs. “Just let them be. One way or another they will stop asking,” Hobi pauses for a moment. "Well I hope." He adds.
“Okay, another topic,” Namjoon bursts in, “but do you guys think that the professor of mathematics in the college is too stern?”
“Yeah he is a nightmare!” Hoseok agrees with him in an instant.
“Ugh I hope next year I won't see his face again.” Namjoon groans.
Jeongguk is not happy. “Well if Joon hyung thinks he is bad and he is good in that subject, we are dead meat.”
“Well maybe he will retire when you come.” Yoongi jokes and they all burst into laughter.
Jeongguk says an offended “hey” but he is also laughing.
“Oh I have to go, see you guys soon.” Taehyung says when he hears his mom calling for dinner.
“Yeah, see you.” They all wave him goodbye. They are still talking when he ends the video call and it makes his heart warmer, he is really happy that he has good friends and that friends are also good friends with each other. He couldn't ask for better people to hang out with.
Tae eats his dinner and hand washes the dishes. When he comes back to his room he starts to think about what Jeongguk said the other day. How can he possibly even know that Gguk is the right one and that he is in fact his soulmate? He thinks how Namjoon and Yoongi are just perfect for each other so he thinks to himself that he needs to ask Joon some questions the next time they meet, so on Sunday. Until then he won't be seeing his boyfriend either, but it's okay, they can chat there. He can't wait for Sunday, he guesses that it's gonna be better after the talk.
He covers himself with a blanket that kind of smells a little bit like Jeongguk and sighs, who would know that all this love and soulmate shit is so…difficult? When he first heard about soulmates as a child he was so happy and thought it was so romantic to just know if the person was right, but he didn't think of another person, what will happen to them if they are not right for each other. Do you just…grow apart? You say bye and have a broken heart?
When he wakes up his face is all puffy, he didn't sleep much today at all. He goes as per usual to school and he is feeling sad that he can't see Jeongguk today, he is in a different class and he has more subjects than he has. Gguk could come after school to him but they both don't have the time so now he awaits Sunday even more than yesterday.
Of course they send each other text messages but it is not the same as seeing each other in the flesh, on four eyes. Saturday is full of cleaning the house and around, like the garden plus he has a lot of homework so he misses Jeongguk today too.
Finally it's D-Day and when it's the time to meet his boyfriend and his friends he almost flies out of bed. He takes a shower and does his morning routine, says bye to his parents and he's gone. Thankfully the younger one is already there (his house is closer to Hobi hyung's house) when he comes so he doesn't even say hello to the others at first, he goes straight to Gguk and kisses him.
"I've missed you so much." He murmurs and hugs the younger one.
The latter hugs him back and kisses him even more passionately than Tae, but the older one doesn't mind, he loves possessive Jeongguk. The others don't say anything, they just from far away, with glee in their eyes. After they stop their public make-out (Yoongi is wiggling his eyebrows at them) Jeongguk takes Tae’s hand and they go into Hobi’s house. Hoseok’s parents say hello to all and leave them alone with instructions - not to burn the whole place down.
They play some video games and chat about all things that happened this week. Tae stays next to Gguk all day, he just missed the other one so much.
“Namjoon hyung, can I talk with you?” Tae asks. Hoseok's parents are really kind too, always giving them too much food to eat and leaving them alone to just hang out.
“Yeah, sure, Taehyung.” Joon shows his dimples when he smiles.
They go out of the house, on the bench under the tree. It's almost winter but it's not that cold outside, it is still warm enough that they don't need any jackets to warm them up. The sun is almost setting, but they still see good, it is a day without almost any cloud in the sky. The wind is a little bit chilly but it is not that bad.
“Hyung, did you always know that Yoongi was just right for you?” Taehyung asks Namjoon.
“Why are you asking this Tae?” Taehyung's eyes meet with Namjoon's confused eyes. “Is something wrong? Does Jeongguk not feel the same?”
“No, everything is fine.” Taehyung shakes his head. “I just… want to have your opinion I guess.”
“Okay…?” Joon seems even more confused than before.
“Hyung. I swear that everything is great.” Taehyung promises and smiles. “I am just asking. I am really confident that he is the right one.”
Namjoon looks at him for some time. “Well then…when I look at Yoongi hyung it just makes sense to me that I found my person. That the way he talks or even moves makes me wonder how this beautiful man is even real.” Joon closes his eyes. “Also the way he waited a year and a half for me and never said anything. He is just so sweet, Tae.” He opens his eyes and they are sparkling.
Taehyung hums at Namjoon's words.
Namjoon looks around the garden. “So…I just kind of…know. I really don't have a definite answer to this, honestly.”
“Thanks hyung. You helped me a lot.” Tae says honestly.
“No problem, Taehyung." Joon smiles back and with his head he nods in the direction of Hobi's house. "I think we should go back.”
They do go and when Tae comes into the room he is met with Jeongguk’s worried eyes and expression. He shakes his head to show him that it is nothing to be worried about and his face turns from a frown to a smile.
And Taehyung is always so happy when he is the reason for that smile or even better when there is laughter because of him. It just makes his heart soar into the skies and it makes his soul calm.
Their moment is broken by a really excited scream.
“Ahhh, how I missed you, Namjoon!” Seokjin is fake crying.
“I was literally gone for ten minutes.” Joon muses.
Yoongi plays the part too. “Baby, when you were gone, my heart broke into a million tiny parts.” He says with such a sarcastic voice that the others look at each other and just start wheezing.
Taehyung doesn’t know who is crazier, but he loves it. He loves his found family, his friends.

"Next year, on this day, we will know if we are soulmates." Tae says to Jeongguk and the younger one hums.
The younger one looks at the piece of food he has on his plate. "I hope the day comes really quickly." He takes a bite out of the said food, chicken and makes a little happy dance.
Tae smiles at his boyfriend, he is so cute. "I hope so too."
"I can't believe that you are nineteen, the time goes really fast."
"Yeah me either." Taehyung nods.
Taehyung still remembers how the two of them met, Jeongguk was so shy at first, he didn’t look you in the eyes if you would talk to him, but when you broke the ice he was one of the most loving people you would ever meet. Everyone loved him even if he didn’t talk much. Tae and the others helped him to get out of his shell.
“Want to play some video games?” Taehyung asks the younger one and the other one nods in excitement.
They eat in peace and then they start a video game on JK’s console, but they were a bit too loud so they called it quits after an hour because they couldn’t stop laughing at each other, they were seeing who could cheat the most and not play the actual game.
The others are coming to celebrate his birthday, but the bigger party it's going to be next year so this year it's more of a hang out with his friends, more like how they do almost every week.
Their ‘not 20 parties’ are more of a hangout than real parties, but they always have a great time. They do give gifts to the birthday person, but they are rather small gifts. They mostly do it to just get together and have fun.

“Seokjin hyung, do you ever feel sad that you still haven't met your soulmate yet?” Tae asks one day when just the two of them are alone in his dorm.
Jin hums and after some moments shakes his head. “Not really, no. I know that when the time comes, it will come.” He looks around his dorm room that he shares with Yoongi. “If it never happens to me, it’s okay,” Jin shrugs, “but if it does happen, better for me.”
Just like Jin before, Taehyung also hums in response. “That is a good view on the world, I wish I would be like you, hyung, but I don’t think I’ll ever be.”
The older one looks at him with a stern face. “You don’t have to be like me, be yourself Taehyung. We are all different and it is okay to want to have your soulmate too. It’s okay to have dreams, to be happy if you do have a person who exists on this planet just to be with you. It’s romantic.”
“I…Just feel like I’ve been dreaming about this too much and that I have a wrong perspective on this topic,” Tae says, “because sometimes I feel wrong to want these things.”
"It's not wrong, but yeah it's good that you want to step back and look at the relationship."
Tae smiles. "You are the best, hyung."
Jin laughs and sits on his bed. "Of course I am.”
Because he is still seeing in black and white, he has a little mishmash of color in his room, but everyone (except Hobi because he hasn't met his soulmate yet) helps if he needs to know what color anything is. The colors clash a little bit but it just feels like Seokjin, the vibe is there - even if he would see in color, he would (probably) have all these colors anyway.
On the other hand Yoongi's part of the room is more monotone but still with a little bit of color here and there (probably the items are Namjoon's) but it looks classy. It's mostly black and white but the feeling it's totally Yoongi style.
“Want to eat something?” Seokjin asks. “My treat.”
“Really?” Tae perks up.
Seokjin nods. “Yeah, let's go.”
They go to the closest restaurant that is near the campus. On their way there they see Yoongi and Namjoon coming back from classes so Seokjin says to them that they too can join them.
“Hyung is paying?” Namjin asks with a raised eyebrow and looks at Seokjin with a strange look.
Seokjin clicks his tongue in annoyance. “Just go with us two and shut up.”
Namjoon puts his hands up in surrender but there is a slight smirk on his face, he is definitely going to tease Seokjin for this, forever. Yoongi on the other hand doesn’t say anything but he looks like he is trying really hard not to laugh. Taehyung lightly elbows him but he is trying not to laugh too. They both quietly snicker behind Seokjin’s back
The restaurant is full of students but they don’t need to wait for a free table. The waiter comes to them right away and they order their usual, they’ve been to this restaurant many times and know the menu off their back.
“The classes are killing me.” Yoongi groans when the food comes. “I don’t know if I should study or just say “fuck it” and go looking for a job.”
“It’s not that bad Yoongi. You are just a dramatic ass.” Seokjin rolls his eyes. “If I could do it, you can too.”
“I don't know how you do it.” Namjoon peeps. “You have so much stuff and you still ace your classes.”
“That's because I am a genius.” Seokjin says and Taehyung next to him chuckles quietly. “I know how to manage time.”
“You have finals this year, right?” Yoongi asks the oldest one and Seokjin nods at his words. “Well good luck.”
Seokjin just sighs at his words and starts eating his steak.
Taehyung really doesn't know how Seokjin can do all of this and not lose his head in the meantime. He really wonders where he has this much time to study, to hang out and to be such a good friend.
“Can we have a study session?” Taehyung asks Seokjin and the oldest one nods. “I have some exams soon and I need motivation.”
“Taehyung, you are always welcome to study with us three, not just me.” Seokjin smiles.
The other two hum at Seokjin’s words because their mouths are full of food.
“Thank you hyungs.”
Taehyung finally takes a bite of his food and almost moans because it is so good. And the fact that Seokjin paid for his meal makes it even better.
“This restaurant is a godsend.” Yoongi says and takes another bite.
“I am so happy that we have it so close to us, so we can come here as often as we can.” Namjoon happily replies.
“It's also so cheap at the same time.” Taehyung adds.
After they ate all they had on their plates they waited for Seokjin to pay the bill as he promised and they went back to Seokjin's and Yoongi's dorm to hang out a little more.

Jeongguk made kind of a big deal out of Tae’s birthday but nobody blamed him, it was an important milestone in his and Taehyung’s life and even Tae didn’t blame him for that.
The six of them are in a cabin; deep in the mountains, celebrating new year and Taehyung’s birthday for a week.
The first day here it was freezing cold, one of the coldest days of the year but that didn't stop them from enjoying this vacation - it was even more fun because there were no parents around.
They had a snowball fight; Jeongguk won which wasn't surprising at all, they made some snow angels on a really deep snow and almost couldn't get out, laughing at each other when they needed to lift other friend up, they were hiking around and trying not to get lost (still not going too far from the cabin), they also had a Christmas dinner (Yoongi and Seokjin made it and the rest of the group was cleaning afterwards).
The routine of waking up and not having any school or work was working wonders on Taehyung's mental health.
And of course, they had a two day party for Taehyung’s birthday. They surprised him with all the posters and a really beautifully decorated cabin.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" They all yell when Tae wakes up on the 29th of December and comes into the kitchen to make himself breakfast.
He just stands there like a statue and still sleepy. "Thank you guys, but it is not my birthday yet, it's tomorrow."
"We don't care, we are celebrating today and tomorrow." Yoongi says and gives him a cup full of hot, almost boiling tea. "Also good morning." He says with a kind smile.
"Guys, this is too much." Taehyung groans but still sits on the stool next to the kitchen table.
"And like we said, we don't care." Seokjin says and puts a plate full of really hot brownies on the middle of the table. "Eat up, birthday boy."
"When the hell did you all wake up? At four in the morning?! When did you all have the time to prepare all of this?”
"Nah, don't worry, I just put the brownies into the microwave to heat them up and we have an electric kettle, so the tea boiled in like two minutes." Jin says and sits around the table too.
Tae feels some arms hugging him. "Gguk, you awake too?" He asks the younger one without even checking who is behind him.
"Morning hyung." Jeongguk says and hugs him even tight. Tae just hums because his mouth is full of food. "We all already ate." The maknae of the friends adds but sits next to Taehyung.
"So you are all going to watch me eat?" Tae mumbles.
Namjoon shrugs. "All the attention is on you today and tomorrow."
"This is creepy by the way."
Hobi looks at the others. "We can all go to the living room, if you want," then he looks at the youngest, "you can stay." Tae nods at Hoseok's words.
His friends go out of the room and Jeongguk does stay as Tae slowly finishes his breakfast. They don't talk, Kookie puts some tea into a cup too and he is slowly sipping, casually blowing on the drink so it's not too hot - he doesn't want to burn his mouth. The brownies are really good and Taehyung knows he shouldn't be eating too much sugar in the morning but he can't help himself. It's almost his birthday after all.
He can hear the birds chirping outside because the window is a little bit open (to let the fresh air in) and the sun is also kind of strong at eight in the morning. They just sit there soaking all in. After a while Tae starts shivering from the cold so he closes the window and turns on the heating.
When he eats his food they go to the living room where the others are already standing with gifts in their hands. One by one they give presents to the birthday boy. All of the gifts are really thoughtful. It is his twentieth birthday after all. Kookie tells him that he will give his present later.
"Should we go outside? The day seems like it is going to be very nice." Says Hoseok after checking the weather forecast for today and they all nod at his words because yes, it does sound nice.
They all go to their rooms to change from pajamas to clothes for the snow. The temperature is almost zero and they don't want to be sick right now, nobody needs that. They spend the day outside in the snow. Their faces, especially cheeks and nose become rosy, red from the cold but they don't care about that, they have so much fun just running around and feeling like a kid without any worry about the world. They are also kind of far from civilization, deep in the mountains so they don't meet a single other human so they can be as loud as they want to be.
They went back to the cabin to eat something, they were starving after a half of the day spent outside, but after eating they went for round two and it was even funnier than the first one.
“Hyung, can I talk to you in private?” Jeongguk asks Tae and the older one nods.
They go to their shared bedroom where Jeongguk pulls out his gift for Taehyung.
“Happy 20th birthday, hyung!” Jeongguk wishes Tae, five minutes before 30th of December, almost at midnight. “I got you a gift.” And blushes like crazy.
“Kookie, it’s not my birthday yet.” Tae sighs. “You didn't have to buy me anything, you being my boyfriend, it's a present itself.” He pulls Jeongguk into a hug.
“It's handmade, hyung!” Jeongguk murmurs, to change Tae’s mind.
“Okay, I'll check out right now, what you got me.” Taehyung slowly opens his gift. “Oh, bunny, it's beautiful.” Tae almost cries at what his boyfriend gave him.
It is a beautiful necklace, in all different colors with their names, in a heart shaped wood.
“I made this this year, so it is, like I- uh, like I said before- homemade." Jeongguk is awkwardly just standing there until Taehyung puts his hand on the youngest’ shoulder and Jeongguk relaxes at the touch.
“Thank you baby, this is really beautiful.” Taehyung kisses Jeongguk on the cheek.
“It's going to be your birthday in a minute and I wanted to be alone with you so we can confirm that we are in fact soulmates.” Says Jeongguk shyly. “If you don’t see the colors after you kiss me, believe me, I am going to leave you alone, so you can find your true soulmate. Do we have a deal?” He also quickly adds, like he was afraid that Taehyung wouldn't like him anymore the second he turns twenty.
“Of course, but I am pretty sure, we won’t need to be searching for my soulmate, because he is right here, standing in front of me.” Tae says with a serious tone because he does believe it, even more than before because he talked with Namjoon and Seokjin about this.
Somewhere in the background the old clock tells them that it is midnight, Taehyung turned twenty. Tae blinks a few times, his eyes see all in black and white right now, it’s so weird how this happens in just a second.
Jeongguk slowly puts his hand on Taehyung’s cheek. “May I kiss you?” He whispers and the older one nods.
Kookie slowly leans in and puts his really soft lips on Tae’s lips, like butterfly wings.
After the kiss is over (Taehyung closed his eyes) he opens his eyes and he can see in color. Tae smiles at the younger one. “It worked! We are soulmates just like we knew it!”
Jeongguk hugs him really tight. “I’m so happy, hyung!”
“Let’s go and tell the others.”
Their friends were really happy for them and they had an even bigger party than for Tae’s birthday but he didn’t care. He was just so happy that he did find a soulmate and that it is Jeongguk from all the people.
“Let’s cut the cake.” Hoseok said after some minutes of everyone congratulating both of them that he had a mischief on his face and Tae knew that nothing good it’s going to happen right now.
And he was right, they bought a cake and on it, it was written: CONGRATS TAE YOU ARE NOT SOULLESS and all Taehyung could do was just sigh at how low his friends can go. That said friends were cackling at the side and it took everything in Tae’s power to not lunch some item at them.
“You guys are fucking idiots.” Tae shakes his head in disbelief. “And you knew about this?” He asks Jeongguk.
“Say cheese.” Jeongguk says instead of answering and Taehyung rolls his eyes but does the pose for the picture anyway. So his boyfriend knew it, but with such a pretty face you can’t stay mad long.
They cut both cakes and have a feast. One is a strawberry one and the other one is a chocolate one.
Yoongi gives the box this time to Taehyung. The box is shimmering black just like the first time he saw it, but this time he sees that there are some added fake pearls on it and a simple lock. The bow it's still there as it was with the other three. It is not as heavy as he thought it would be.
The key that he took from the box, it's cold to the touch and really heavy, unlike the box. It looks old, so old that it should be in a museum. Taehyung doesn't know what he should do with the key so he just leaves it in the box.
He takes the paper and starts reading the words on it. Jeongguk tries to look at it too but Seokjin stops him.
“Kookie, you will need to wait for your turn.” Seokjin pats the youngest one's hair.
“Tae, please show me what that secret is.” Jeongguk begs Taehyung but the older one just shakes his head.
“Rules are rules, baby. I am sorry.” Taehyung kisses Jeongguk to shove away the frowing and it works.
Tae starts laughing at the end of reading and looks at Seokjin and the other three who already know what is written. They are smiling really big with mischief in their eyes.
“Wow. Okay.” He puts the paper into his pocket.
Jeongguk is still looking at him with sad eyes but this time it won't work on Tae. Taehyung shakes his head in “no” and Jeongguk doesn't try to figure out the secret anymore.
One by one they are going in their rooms and a little later just Jeongguk stays.
“I had fun today.” Taehyung says to Jeongguk.
The younger one gives him a hug from behind. “I’m really glad, hyung.” He murmurs and kisses his neck.
Tae turns around and kisses Kookie properly and they have a make out session which ends with both heavy breathing and fast heartbeat.
“We say we will wait until your 20th birthday.” Tae remembers Jeonguk and the latter nods.
“Yeah I know, but we were just kissing.” He says back and kisses him again. “I love kissing you.”
“As you should.” Taehyung smirks.
“Ah shut up you idiot.” The younger says and rolls his eyes.
Jeongguk kisses the older one again and Tae gives in. He also likes kissing Jeongguk, he is so sweet.
“I think we should go to bed.” Jeongguk murmurs and Taehyung nods at his words.
In the morning it was officially his birthday and they were even worse than yesterday. They were all over him (in a good way) but Tae didn't care. He got a sign from the universe that Jeongguk is the one, it was his birthday, he is finally twenty and he has really good friends. The day couldn't get any better and he was hoping that next year that it will come it's gonna be great too.

Since then they were just waiting for Jeongguk to turn twenty so they could just prove that they were just meant for each other. They would go on little dates, spending some quality time together and mostly just have some fun.
They are in the same high school so everyday they would go to classes hand in hand. Some students were jealous of them but they wouldn’t care about them.
Long distance relationships are hard but they made it work, Taehyung went to college and then Jeongguk went too. They weren't on the same campus, not even in the same zip code but they wrote and called each other everyday, the latest gossip, what they were doing and so on. They mostly see each other when they have a holiday break, but it was enough for the two of them, they still have a lot of time to be together in the future.
“I am here to study, hyung.” Tae says after he comes into the dorm room of the roommates.
“Oh, I almost forgot that you will come.” Yoongi says with a book in his hand.
Seokjin is on his bed, with a laptop on his legs and doesn't even look up to say hello to Taehyung. He looks so into studying that Tae doesn't know if he should just leave the room and study alone. Yoongi is looking at him with kind eyes so he stays here.
There is a chair behind the desk, he sits on it and takes out of the backpack all the stuff he is going to need to study. He turns the phone on the quiet mode and puts it into the backpack so it won't distract him from learning. He has an important exam in a week and he said to his friends that he is not going to respond for some time except if it is an emergency.
The room is quiet, you can only hear the breathing of three people, a pen scratching the paper and sometimes typing on the keyboard. It's bringing Taehyung into some meditation state - a calming sensation. Three hours passed by and he thinks he studied enough and that he knows the most important things so he calls it quits for today.
Yoongi is looking at him when he peeks around the room to see if anyone is done studying. The older one points at the door with his head and they as quietly as possible go out of the room to not disturb Seokjin studying.
“Should we go to 7/11 to buy some junk food?” Yoongi whispers to Taehyung even now out of the dorm room. The younger one nods and they go out of the building.
“I miss Jeongguk.” Taehyung tells Yoongi.
Even if it's late at night it's not that cold, it's almost summer time. The air almost smells like freedom from school and studying, just a little bit more and they are going to be done with all the exams.
“Just for a few more years and then you can be together forever.” Yoongi responded but not in a mean way. “It's in your and Jeongguk’s DNA to be together.”
The shop is almost empty given the late hour. There is only one light on in the store but it doesn't really look abandoned. They go to the snacks section of the convenience store and pick some unhealthy food.
“Oh look hyung, this one is cheaper because it is on sale.” Taehyung points at the snack on the second shelf. Yoongi takes it and they put all the food they choose on the cash register.
“Hi, just this please.” Yoongi says to the boy behind the register.
The man says hi back and starts scanning the items. After he is done he says the total amount.
Yoongi nods and takes the wallet out but Taehyung is quicker. He puts the money into the cashier's hands before Yoongi and the older man gives him the nastiest look of his life.
“I beated you to it.” Taehyung shrugs and Yoongi mumbles a lot of inappropriate words that makes the man behind the register blush.
They already open the pack of gimbap on the way back to the dorm. When they open the door Seokjin is still on the bed in the same position as they left.
“Hyung, we bring you something to eat.” Yoongi says but Seokjin only mumbles something back that either of the two understands and he is still in a study mode.
“Okay that it is,” Yoongi rolls his eyes and takes Seokjin's laptop from the older one’s lap. “Or are you going to eat something willingly or I am going to make you.”
Seokjin looks at Yoongi with a surprised ‘o’ face. After his brain registers what the younger one said, he nods and stands up from his bed. Yoongi puts the laptop back onto Seokjin's bed and takes another bite of the kimbap that he didn't finish.
Seokjin browses what the younger two bought and chooses some noodles. He wolfs it all up in two minutes after the food was ready so that means that he was starving.
“Jin look at me.” Yoongi says after Seokjin eats his meal. “You are going to take a shower now and then straight to bed. Are we clear?” Jin nods and goes to take a shower as Yoongi said.
Taehyung watched all of this without saying a word.
“If I don't make him do that, he will just study, study, study. I know it is his dream to become a teacher but sometimes you need to take a break too.”

"Jin hyung?! What did you just say?" Jeongguk looks at his oldest hyung with wide open eyes.
"I said that I accidentally kissed Hobi on the bus." Jin says with a blush on his face like he still can't believe that it happened. "Two days ago we accidentally kissed on the bus to take us home"
Taehyung was almost dying of laughter at how he imagined the scene went, but at the same time this was just so… Jin and Hobi. If someone would say to picture a person who would in a weird way figure out that his friend is his soulmate it would definitely be Jin.
Namjoon gives a confused look to both of them. "How do you even do that?"
"Seokjin leaned too much on the right as he was talking to me," Hobi hurried to explain the situation, "so I was looking at him when suddenly the bus turned left and he kissed me on the lips and we both saw color in a second. We were too shocked so we didn’t talk for a day but we talked it through and since yesterday we have been boyfriends."
"Congratulations, hyungs!" Tae says and hugs both of them and the others follow him. “But you have to admit that this is a funny story to tell people.”
The others start laughing, even the new soulmate pair.
“After all these years it was my best friend.” Hoseok says with glee in his eyes and a smile on his lips.
“Who would have known?” Seokjin muses. “And what are the odds of that?”
“Guys…we are all paired up! We should have a triple date?!” Hoseok says.
“It's literally our friend group.” Yoongi deadpans and starts going through his boyfriend's hair, Namjoon has his head in his lap. “So I don't know how this is going to be any different than now.”
“You are right.” Namjoon mumbles and closes his eyes.
“You are just saying that because you are whipped for Yoongi.” Seokjin rolls his eyes. “You agree with everything he says.”
“And this is why they are soulmates.” Hobi butts in. “Just like the two of us are.”
Tae makes a groaning sound and closes his eyes. The new pair is going to be all over each other from now on.

Hoseok has flowers, lots of flowers in his hands for Seokjin who will graduate today. Seokjin had at least three mental breakdowns (that Taehyung saw, he didn't know how many Jin had overall that he didn't see) in the last day leading to this.
“I still don't know how he freaking did it. He really must be a genius or an alien.” Namjoon says and pats his suit down to see if he forgot something.
Taehyung knows that if Yoongi wasn't there to check on Seokjin, he would crash and burn out but Tae doesn't tell Joon that.
Hobi looks really proud of his boyfriend, checking almost every minute on his wrist watch if it's to go to the ceremony. If he didn't know who is graduating today he would say it is Hobi by how nervous the man is.
Finally it's time for them all to go. Seokjin is already in the building, he was needed there for the last corrections and rehearsals before the show time.
Taehyung is holding Jeongguk’s hand when they enter the building. His baby looks absolutely stunning today with his hair partly on his forehead and curled locks hugging his face. He is wearing black smart pants and a white shirt paired with a black jacket.
As soon as he walks in, Hoseok starts searching for his boyfriend. “I can see him.” Hobi smiles and shows where he is. The others wave at him and Jin waves back at them with a nervous smile.
They all sit down where Seokjin's family is. The parents look really proud of his son and his older brother has a smile on his face too. Hoseok starts talking with Jin’s parents right away about some topic that Tae doesn't know anything about and Namjoon goes into a debate with Seokjin's brother about what job he has.
Tae isn't listening to them, he only has eyes for Jeongguk who just shyly sits on his chair without anything to do.
“Are you okay, Kookie?” He asks his boyfriend.
“I don't know why but I am feeling a little bit anxious.” Jeongguk is biting his lower lip at the confection.
“It's okay, we can go out for a little while and come back as soon as the graduation starts.”
“No no, I can stay here, just please hold my hand.”
“If it gets worse, please tell me and we can leave this place, Seokjin would understand it, baby. I would do anything for you.”
There is finally a small smile on Jeongguk's face. “I'll remember that.”
The hall gets crowded with people who are talking but as soon as the music starts they get quiet and start clapping.
The ceremony is beautiful and nobody is actually screaming when they tell the names of who graduated but it wouldn't be them if they wouldn't scream their heart out as soon as they hear Seokjin's name being announced.
Seokjin blushes but that doesn't stop him from sending a flying kiss their way. They all start cackling at his gesture. Jin’s parents take some pictures with their phones.
“Seokjin was the student with the highest score in this class on his exams.” The announcer tells the crowd.
“Woah.” Taehyung says to Jeongguk. “He really did study his butt off.”
They yell again when he gets the diploma - Hobi being of course the loudest and Seokjin goes to sit back down.
After all of this is over, they all hug Seokjin and congratulate him. Hoseok gives his soulmate the flowers he has been carrying all day. They all take a picture with Seokjin to have it for memories.
Seokjin's brother gives Jin another set of flowers and now Seokjin is full of crying happy tears.
“Thank you guys so much for the support.” He thanks them, almost full on sobbing. “I really couldn't have done this without you guys. Really, thank you.”
“This is what friends are for.” Namjoon smiles.
“I am kind of glad that this is over.” Yoongi mumbles but only Taehyung hears him.
