Too Little, Too Late

Summary:

Eri needs to write Shiki's eulogy, but all she can think of is how she failed her.

Notes:

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

Did it matter at all what Eri said?

Everyone there would know how much she cared for Shiki. Nothing she could say in a speech would change the way they understood that. There was only one person whose mind Eri cared about changing now, and she wouldn't be listening.

Or maybe she would. The world worked in mysterious ways. But even then, nothing could ever change what had already happened. So the best she could do was write thinking Shiki would hear her words, even knowing she couldn't.

Better late than never to set things right, or pretend she could.

Notes:

Written for the prompt 'too little, too late'. Got lazy with the title.
