Chapter Text
Soyeon hasn't been answering her texts again.
That wasn't unusual, no. With how busy the leader was as she juggled the job of an idol, music artist, and overall producer for her own team, it was no longer surprising how she would sometimes leave her messages unattended. Maybe she was out on a schedule, maybe she was fast asleep in her bedroom.
... Or maybe she just simply forgot.
That's what Yuqi thinks, staring at the several texts she had spammed Soyeon in an attempt to get her attention.
She knew the Korean didn't have a schedule today, unlike her who was out the whole afternoon to do a modelling photoshoot and only just got on her way back home being driven by her manager. Yuqi's certain Soyeon was just at her house right now, so why wasn't she replying to her?
It's not like Soyeon would ignore her on purpose. That was never the case in their 7 years of being together. Yuqi knew that in her heart, yet the lack of response still made her feel uneasy. Restless, even.
But Yuqi didn't want to bother her in case she was deeply focused on work. The group was having their comeback very soon, so maybe Soyeon was just holed up in her studio finalizing their perfect mini-album after contract renewals. She didn't want to disturb her...
But it was also already half past 5 in the evening, with the glowing sun gently dipping down to cast a blanket of dark clouds over the horizon. Yuqi could tell that much as she gazed out the company car window.
Soyeon's last message to her was sent 11PM yesterday, when she had bid Yuqi goodnight. When Yuqi had woken up the next day, the Chinese immediately greeted her a good morning before going to work. Until now, her text was still unread. That meant it was already nearing 19 hours since Soyeon last talked to her.
(Not that Yuqi was obsessively counting. She just so happened to read the time stamps of her messages, that's all...)
Against her better judgement, Yuqi calls Soyeon's number, desperate to get any kind of response from her. It rings for a minute. No answer. The Korean had probably left her phone on Do Not Disturb.
"Shit," Yuqi curses, like she was ready to give up. But Yuqi wasn't the kind of person to give up. Especially not when it comes to her loved ones. Especially not Jeon Soyeon.
Yuqi needed to know if she was okay, at the very least.
So she leans forward from the backseat and taps her manager on the shoulder.
"Oppa, can you drop me off at Soyeon's instead?"
