It all happened so fast.
Ajax was fighting Norman Osborn, now known as Green Goblin, in the Clock Tower that would soon become the place he hates the most.
Next thing he knows is that the spiderweb he attached to Scaramouche had been cut by a cogwheel in the Clock Tower, and Scaramouche starts to fall, and Ajax jumps down to save him.
Ajax and Scaramouche look into each other’s eyes, one pair filled with fear, the other filled with trust in that the love of his life would save him.
Ajax shoots out a web that shapes itself to be eerily similar to the shape of a hand, desperately hoping to catch him in time. Ajax feels the web connect and grabs onto a pole to stop Scaramouche from falling any further.
The last things that Scaramouche feel are Ajax’s web pulling on his back too much and his head hitting the concrete ground.
Ajax connects the web attached to Scaramouche to the pole he grabbed on, and jumps down to make sure his boyfriend was alive, maybe in shock at his near death, but still alive.
Except when he gets down, Scaramouche is still. Too still. No breath… Just Scaramouche hanging just a few inches off the ground.
Realization sets in Ajax, and Ajax begs “Scara..? no.. no..no no no no no no NO!!” Ajax screams Scara to wake up, to open his eyes, to do anything. But Scaramouche does nothing but hang.
Ajax cradles Scaramouche in his arms.
Ajax whispers “ Stay with me Scara, You STAY with me alright!? You’ll be okay, I know you will be.” with his voice getting softer with every word spoken.
But nothing Ajax does works, for Scaramouche had already stopped giving him wonderful memories, and instead had become A bittersweet memory himself.
Ajax lets out a yell that even the gods above would have been able to hear, and collapses to the ground with his heart and world in his arms.
Ajax thought they’d be okay, how horribly wrong he was.
***time skip***
After Scaramouche's death, Ajax mourned for the memories they made, and would never be able to make. Ajax planned to take him on a trip to a theme park, but now he wishes he’d done it sooner.
After Scaramouche’s death, Ajax stopped pulling his punches, he wanted all the criminal’s he fought to feel even a portion of the pain he felt everyday since that day in the clock tower.
After Scaramouche’s death, Ajax was never the same.
