Summary:

"Ladybug? Hey..." he looked back in front of him, "what are you doing here?"

"Well, I was asleep, but I was awakened by some strange feeling that led me to you" she looked at him "so tell me, what are you doing here, Kitty?"

Chat Noir sighed.

Work Text:

Marinette awoke with a strange feeling. She slowly sat up and looked around. Seeing nothing unusual in her room, she reached for her phone. However, there was nothing on it either, other than some unimportant notifications and the fact that the time currently indicated 2 am. She frowned.

Tikki rubbed her eyes with her paw and looked at Marinette.

"Marinette...?"

Marinette looked at her kwami and smiled at her softly.

"Sorry, Tikki, I didn't mean to wake you up," she said and stroked the little ladybug's head. Tikki leaned into the touch then flew over to her guardian.

"What happened?" she asked. Marinette frowned again.

"I don't know. Theoretically nothing, but practically..." she paused, thinking. Her thoughts involuntarily going to Chat Noir. Was he the reason for this strange feeling?

She didn't like to think that something could have happened to her partner when there was no information about any attack. And the new Hawkmoth had not yet revealed themself.

She looked again at Tikki, who was watching her.

"Tikki, what do you say about getting some fresh air?"

The night was a bit chilly, but luckily Marinette didn't feel it so much in the Ladybug suit.

She checked her surroundings a bit and was about to turn back home, concluding that it was a false alarm after all, when she spotted that familiar blond hair. She sighed quietly and jumped to the roof where her partner was sitting.

"Hey, what's up, Kitty, wandering around alone at night?" she called out and felt bad because Chat Noir literally jumped.

He turned toward her, alarmed, but when he saw it was her, he calmed down.

"Ladybug? Hey..." he looked back in front of him, "what are you doing here?"

Marinette sat down next to him. She pulled her knees up to her chest and rested her chin on them.

"Well, I was asleep, but I was awakened by some strange feeling that led me to you" she looked at him "so tell me, what are you doing here, Kitty?"

Chat Noir sighed.

"I can't sleep," he confessed. Marinette's gaze softened. She moved closer to him. He laughed without humor  "I would tell you more, but I know we can't talk about civilian life without risking our identities."

Marinette looked at him with concern. She knew well what it was like to be awake and not be able to explain to someone why she wasn't sleeping.

"Oh, Chaton..."

Chat smiled but the smile didn’t really reach his eyes.

"It's ok, m'lady. I'm fine."

Marinette sincerely doubted that her partner was 'fine' but didn't know how she could comfort him. She moved even closer and rested her head on his shoulder. He tensed up for a moment, but quickly relaxed and rested his head against hers, sighing.

Marinette hoped that at least this way she could support him.
