Jab ham sote hen - When we sleep

Summary:

Dusekkar was never the one for sleep, and constantly was on the verge of losing conciousness. So when Taph found him in the middle of the night, knocked out from exhaustion, it was not much of a surprise to the survivors the next morning on what happened.

Taph was ordered by Builderman to look after Dusekkar and skip being with them. The duo aren't that happy to be stuck with each other for the next week, but an order is an order. And Taph will follow it to the letter. Even if things don't go as plan

Chapter 1: Sona - Sleep

Chapter Text

Zap! Taph jerked awake from the loud noise, wings huddled close to his body to shield himself from... something. It was still dark out and only he seemed to have heard the noise as snores and light breathing still echoed around him. He allowed himself to relax, to stay calm. No one is coming for you now. You're safe, Taph. He reasured himself, slowly bringing his wings away from his face. If no one is here to attack him, then what was that?

He silently got up as to avoid waking everyone else up, grabbed his cloak and saunter his way through the silent cabin. He creaked down the staircase to examine the cabin. Did a window break? No, they were all intact. Did a killer break in? No, the doors were still on their hinges and he didn't hear any rustling. Explosion maybe? That was a stupid question. He was a demolition, of course he would know if one gone off. He checked the meeting room, then the living area, then the kitchen. No killer, no possum, no rabid animal. Maybe it was his imagination. He had been incredibly stress as of lately from all the rounds and bomb making. Taph went back upstairs to the sleeping quarters.

Or what the other survivors called the sleeping quarters. Pretty generous name to give a room filled with thin blankets and sleeping bags that should've been thrown out since last year. The spectre was kind enough to give a roof over their heads, yet arrogant enough to give a near useless bedroom for them to share. The upper floor was just the one room littered in blankets that can't keep you warm, radios that don't work, and the personal items of the other survivors. It beats living in his old house. The one he constantly felt paranoid in. And less messy too. Taph quickly shuffled between his allies to reach his "bed" when he noticed an empty one in the corner. A dark purple-blue sleeping bag that had stacks of spell books next to it. Dusekkar's bed. Dusekkar never had an easy time sleeping since he came here and usually stayed up at ungodly hours of the night, sometimes never sleeping for multiple weeks at a time. The others always warned him about how dangerous it was for his health to stay up that late all the time and Taph himself said he would get on the naughty list if he didn't sleep. Dusekkar always brushed it off and continued to study and walk around at late hours. Taph paused for moment. The loud noise. Dusekkar being awake. A connection formed in Taph's mind. Don't tell me... the demolition crept quickly down the stairs again, this time opening the cabin door to go outside.

A cool breeze ruffled between his feathers as the smell of pine and river water woffed the air. It was colder and darker then Taph expected as he huddled his wings around himself to keep warm. Nothing seemed off. He was about to go back in when another smell crossed his nose, a more rotten smell; Smoke. Something was burning. But other than that, there was no proof a fire or something similar had happened here. Did Dusekkar really..? He followed the smell.

It was near the fishing docks by the lake. What could Dusekkar be doing near the docks? It's not like he enjoyed water, being a fire spirit and all. Taph reached the area and examined the darkened waters. All he saw was a burnt tree and 2×2's fishing rod and empty fish bucket on that wooden jetty that smelt like rotting fish. Nothing else. But that tree clearly wasn't burnt naturally. It was Dusekkar's doing, it had to be. But where was he? The demolition patrolled the edge of the water, seeing if he could find anything. Nothing yet. Surely Dusekkar didn't hurt himself, right? Then he noticed a shadowy body laying down by the waters edge, and yellow light emiting from it's face. That must be him. Is he dead, injured? Taph walked up to him slowly as not to scare the pumpkin mage if he is just pulling his leg. Last thing he wants to do is go up to an admin and get his ass struck by lightning. Dusekkar is a force to be reckoned with (sometimes. Most of the time he is too tired to do anything).

Taph kneeled down next to Dusekkar, hearing a steady, almost rhythmic breathing. Was he... sleeping? This was probably the first time in two months. It was strange, seeing an insomniac like him actually having a peaceful rest, yet it felt nice to Taph in a way he couldn't describe. It was weirdly calming to hear his soft breathing with nature's harmony taking a back seat too. He brushed his hand on the pumpkin mage's face, letting the moment sit in. No, what is he thinking? Builderman would remove him from his right-hand position if he just stayed there and didn't help. He nudged Dusekkar a bit. Maybe he would get up himself. Dusekkar mumbled something with his rhymey voice and batted the demolition's hand away. Fuck this. He thought annoyed.

He manoeuvred Dusekkar's body onto his own back, making sure to avoid the antlers, got up and stumbled a bit, surprised at how heavy the admin was for having such a skinny frame. He moved Dusekkar's hands around his neck to keep him in place. Taph, with a silent grunt, made his way to the cabin with Dusekkar on his back, still asleep and unbotherd by Taph carrying him. The admin's body was cold, as if it had been drenched in water, which it most likely was.

After what felt like an eternity (but was only one minute), Taph opened the cabin door, as a burst of heat escaped the room and moonlight transformed inside the cabin. Great, now the stairs. Know what, fuck that. He'll just put Dusekkar on the couch and hopes he is still asleep. He doesn't have the energy to bring him up the stairs, especially since he barely had the strength to carry him on a minute long walk on his back. A fleet of 50 stairs would kill the poor guy. He gently lay the admin on the couch and rearranged the pillows to make him more comfortable for his head and antlers. Taph went upstairs and returned with his own blanket seconds later. It was the only available one and Dusekkar didn't own one himself. And it's not like Taph felt sleepy anymore, even if he tried to sleep again. He covered the black cloth onto the admin.

Dusekkar slightly and softly smiled, feeling warm and comforted. It flustered Taph a bit. Why? He wasn't sure. It was just something about his reaction. The demolition brushed his hands against Dusekkar's face, this time moving the vines out of his face. Sweet dreams, Kar. Taph grabbed a match from a nearby table and lit the fire place. It created a loud crackling sound as Taph sat on the chair next to the couch. Taph enjoyed the noises around him for a bit - the cackling fire and the breathing of Dusekkar- and grabbed a book and started reading.

Chapter 2: Khana pakana - Cooking

Summary:

(Ignore if it's a bit janky. Not good with conversations)

Chapter Text

"Morning Taph." That startled Taph for a moment, almost dropping his book on the ground. Who, what? He settled down realising it was Builderman talking to him. Morning? Already? He barely noticed the light changing colours. The demolition turned his head to face the stairs, seeing his boss leaning against the railing, smiling at him. His grey hair was a mess and he wasn't wearing his iconic hard hat or uniform. Just a white shirt and shorts. Taph put down his book and moved his hands to form symbols.

Morning boss. How are you? Taph is always happy to talk to his boss, casually or professionally. He was his favourite admin, after all. And Taph was his right-hand man. Builderman yawned, stretching his back. "Had a nice sleep. Why are you up so early?" Taph put his hand to his mouth, hushing his mute laugh. It is a long story. Short story is... Taph pointed to the couch where Dusekkar was still asleep, his rhythmic breathing still audible to the demolition. It took his boss a second to register what he saw, but when it clicked in his mind, he seemed shocked. He muttered something to himself, which was somewhat funny to Taph. It was always a surprise to see the pumpkin mage sleeping normally. But seeing him relaxed in his sleep was weird... or nice to Taph.

The demolition snapped his fingers multiple times, bringing Builderman's attention back to him. Want me to help with breakfast? I'll tell you and the others the rest of the story when we are eating. Builderman nodded with a smile, descending down the staircase. Taph felt joyful to help his boss. "Remember, you are staying away from the stove. We are not trying to burn your feathers again." Taph rolled his eyes as his boss laughed at his own joke. I know, boss. Builderman entered the kitchen and Taph got up to follow but paused, tilting his head to face a still sleeping Dusekkar.

It made him feel happy in a way, seeing him with such a soft face. He didn't even like Dusekkar that much, why is he thinking that way? Why does he feel that way for him? What was different about the other times they interacted with each other? He didn't even had a real connection with him. He-. "Taph? You coming?" Taph snapped out of his daydream hearing his boss's voice from the kitchen as he grabbed a pan. Taph stared at the kitchen, then back at Dusekkar and did that a few more times. Nevermind that. He has a team of ten to feed (minus Dusekkar). Taph scampered into the kitchen to help Builderman with cooking.

"So... you're telling us that you found him asleep by the dock like that? Heh, what do I expect from Matt!" Asked Shedletsky, as he moved his fork in the air, almost hitting Noob in the face. Taph nodded, without adding anything else to his story. "If anyone should've woken up to a loud noise in the middle of the night, it should've been me!" Guest joked. A few of the survivors also laughed. Not Taph, obviously. He looked at his half-cooked scrambled eggs. He didn't even ate yet. His mind was more focused on Dusekkar, much to his annoyance. Get out of my fucking head you stupid pumpkin!

He fiddled with his food again. "I never thought I'd see him sleeping." Elliot added, as she put a chunk of egg in his mouth. The room fell quiet as the sound of chewing and cutlery filled the air. "So, what are we doing with him? We can't take him on a match like that." Two time queried. Everyone stopped what they were doing. Taph took his first bite of his cold food, thinking with the team. Yuck. "We... leave him here? Duh?" Chance jumped in, breaking the silence. It was the obvious answer. "You're right, Chance..." Builderman established. "But if he collapsed from exhaustion like that, I don't think it's a good choice to leave him alone." Builderman announced as he looked at the rest of the team. 007n7 joined the conversation. "But isn't Jane and 2×2 here? They could easily help." Builderman nodded in approval.

"Yes, but they already have their tubes tied with research and all. And I think the Spectre wouldn't mind two members skipping on a round for how ever long we need for Dusekkar to recover." The team looked at each other. Taph just kept eating his cold food, ignoring the disgusting taste of his eggs. Builderman gave a heavy sigh and looked at the demolition. "Taph, you're staying." Taph dropped his fork on the plate. The entire team turned to face him. Me? With him? Why?

Why me? He asked. It took Builderman by surprise, taking a moment for him to respond to Taph. "Well, you found him and you were bothered staying by his side last night instead of going back to sleep, so I thought you wanted to stay with him." In all honesty, Taph wanted to go with the team. To be with Builderman. Make his tripmines. Explode the killers. Not staying in the cabin with a sleep deprived Dusekkar. Though, that option didn't sound bad either. Gah! What is he thinking? They don't have a real bond. He was so lost in his mind that he didn't notice the other survivors looking confused at him. Noob coughed into their hand, which broght the demolition out of his mind.

"If you really don't want to stay behind, I am more than happy to stay in the cabin with-." Taph lifted his hand, bringing the conversation back to him. No no. I can stay behind. Maybe you can do it next time? Taph moved his bandana over his mouth, hiding his red face. Maybe being with Dusekkar won't be that bad. "Awh man." Noob grunted as Shedletsky gave them a reasuring pat on the back. Builderman smirked anyways. "That sounds like a plan. Noob, 007n7, Taph, do the dishes. The rest of us will get changed." The other members started talking to one another as they got up from the crowded table. Builderman approached Taph and leaned near his ear. "In all honesty, you are the only one I trust near Kar without getting their ass destroyed." Taph quietly giggled. Of course his boss would trust his best right-hand man to look after one of his admins. It made Taph feel more special to be with Dusekkar. "Don't do anything stupid, okay?" Taph nodded.

It is going to be a job he will wear with pride. "Maybe you should put out the fire? Just saying." 007n7 told Taph. Right. He forgot he had that on. That's what he was forgetting. The demolition grabbed a bucket and started to fill it up with water at the sink. When it was full of the clear liquid, he went to the living area to put out the fire place. One swing and the fire died out, creating a sizzling noise. Taph turned to see Dusekkar again. He seemed tense, almost scared. Taph got closer to him and put a hand on him. His face soften and Taph allowed himself to stay. He sat on the floor. I hope everything is okay...

Chapter 3: Be hosh - Fainted

Summary:

The first chapter but in the pov of Dusekkar (totally not a filler)

Chapter Text

Last night...

"That was a crazy ass round, you should've seen me when I hit John!" Exclaimed Shedletsky as Two time laughed with him. The gang entered the cabin, as the lights grew darker outside, relieved to have finished another round with no major casualties. How many times has this been now? Ten? Fifty? It's better not to count the rounds. For their sanity, at least. Dusekkar laughed and joked with the team, as he fought the urge to close his eyes. To sleep. He didn't want to sleep. He mustn't. "Alright, Elliot, Chance, you are on cooking duty today. Since you both are the least battered of the team." Ordered Builderman as he pointed to the two. Taph walked up next to his boss. What abou-. Builderman rubbed Taph on the head in a teasing manner, like Taph was his own son.

"You are banned from the stove since last week's incident, remember?" Taph threw his arms to his side. Or atleast that's what is seemed. It's hard to tell when your vision gets this blury and the noises are barely audible now. Doesn't matter, he didn't like Taph the much to care about what he is doing. Dusekkar leaned his weight onto his staff to hold his balance. He didn't even have the strength to float around anymore. Maybe he should get some coffee. To regain his strength. He entered the kitchen to prepare some as Chance and Elliot opened cupboards to get supply for the dinner. The pumpkin mage shuffled through the cupboards to look for the container. Fuck, they ran out. He'll just have to deal with it. He turned to leave, to then hear a voice. "Hey, Kar." Dusekkar turned to see Guest 1337. Or he thinks it's Guest. It was all a bit fuzzy. But his blue and pink hair struck out. Yeah, it must be him. "Are you alright?" It took Dusekkar a moment to process the words and when he did, he immediately doubled down on it. "No, everything is fine!" Guest narrowed his brow, not convinced.

"This is the second full month that had gone by without you having a wince of sleep." Wait, two months? It felt more like a couple of days. He really is messing up his sleep schedule now. "Could you at least try to sleep tonight?" The pumpkin mage looked at Guest, almost flabbergasted, as if the solider suggested him to jump off a cliff. "It's fine." Dusekkar scolded between gritted teeth. Guest seemed upset, but didn't press forward. There was no point in trying to convince him further. Kar sat at the dinner table, waiting for Chance and Elliot to do their job. He leaned his head on the table as he saw some of the team walking upstairs. Taph turned to look at him and they locked eyes for a bit before the demolition climbed up to his team. Dusekkar's heart swirled a bit. In hate.

The food tasted kinda bland. Or was he too tired to process the food's taste now? It doesn't matter, he finished his meal anyway. And well before everyone else in his team had. Two time usually finishes first, but the admin wanted to get away from his team for a bit. He tried to read his spell book, but the words all looked bliry. And he could still hear them talking: about him. Probably about his sleeping patterns. Yeah, it's must be. He could barely even hit John Doe that match. Heck, he couldn't leave his starting position without almost collapsing.

Thank goodness Taph was there to save him. But he should be able to carry himself and not rely on others. He is an admin after all. A top head in his company. Relying on such a low, low ranking demolition to save him. Wow. He might as well go outside to clear his mind. He stepped out into the cool night and almost fell over. Whatever, he is still fine. And it's not like someone will come to check up on him. They are all used to it by now, and newer survivors, like Taph, are told not to worry about him as it was all normal. And Dusekkar is way to stubborn and had too much of an ego to listen, anyway. He stepped onto the thick dirt and saunter on to the docks. To star gaze maybe. Everyone must've gone to sleep by now. Maybe. It was really dark out now. He huddled his cloak close to his chest as not to get cold.

Last thing he wants to do now is getting sick. He reached the rotten deck and sat next to 2x2's fishing stuff, as he gazed at the stars. It was the last thing he had the energy to do. And he liked doing so. It was peaceful. And quiet. And if you are lucky, you could see a shooting star. Dusekkar relaxed, smiling at the stars. He listened to the wind rustling in the trees. Wait, are those... footsteps?

Dusekkar leaped up from the jetty, almost falling in the water. Close one. Is it 2x2, Jane, Iris maybe? He hoped so. They sound heavy: like a killer's. Oh goodness. Is he going to get scrapped? He lifted his staff up as a threat and cautiously walked off the jetty to get a better look. "Stay away!" He called out. Where is that stupid killer? He is going to destroy that guy. Skin him alive. He heard a rustling to his right this time and instinctively launched his spell at... a tree? He saw the poor plant collapse as smoke filled the air. Dusekkar hissed in embarrassment as he felt his legs feeling weaker. He tumbled back a bit as his legs gave in. It's catching up to him now. His lack of sleep. His eyes felt even more heavy now and his head felt heavy. Maybe he could close his eyes, for second.

He might die anyway if the killer was still out there and saw him. He closed his eyes as he heard footsteps approached him, embracing the stab of a knife or brick to the head. He was barely awake now. He felt a burnt hand brush his head, almost in a comforting way. He would've told them to stop, to not touch him, but he did enjoy it a bit. It felt soothing in way. And it's not like he would stay concious for long. He couldn't open his eyes to check who it was, but he knew who it could be. That wannabe right-hand man of Builderman. He would never stay up late. Maybe he heard him. Then his mind stopped working.

Chapter 4: Muhabbat nafrt - Love hate

Chapter Text

Dusekkar slowly opened his eyes as he processed what had happened. He winced as bright light blinded him. He sat up, pushing the blanket away from him. Was that all a dream? Ugh, and his head hurts so much. He clutched his head as if the pain would go away if he did so. He recalled last night remembering someone approaching him. Taph. The rest was a bit foggy from there. He then heard a loud snapping noise in front of him that admittedly made him flinch. He tilted his head up to see a familiar face. Morning, Kar. Taph? What was he doing here? As if he read his mind, Taph gave a reply. I heard a loud noise and came to check. Boss told me to look after you for the next week.

Dusekkar's eyes went wide. A week? With him? Kar wasn't all too fond of being stuck with the wannabe right-hand man for a week. A low ranking idiot. He shoved his head into his knees and cursed to himself. "I have to help the team, Taph, don't you see? They struggle in fear without me." He went to get up, but Taph prevented him from getting up, pushing down on his legs. An order is an order. "I'm an admin, Taph. I should be the one ordering you around." The pumpkin mage snarled. And I am Builderman's right-hand man. Dusekkar rolled his eyes and looked at the ground. He never liked Taph that much. Taph was clumsy and delusional. And above else, a low ranking member of their company. Dusekkar was so distracted in his mind that he didn't notice Taph was trying to talk to him. Taph pulled on his dreadlocks as if he would rip them out. He hated it when robloxians ignored him. It was one of those moments he wished he wasn't mute. He tried snapping his fingers in front of the pumpkin mage. No reaction.

He grabbed Dusekkar by his chin and forcefully turned his head to him, which caught Dusekkar off guard. Can I talk now, Mr admin? Dusekkar looked into Taph's eyes. They looked lifeless and glassy with a hint of anger. It flustered him in a way he didn't understand. When Taph repeated himself, Dusekkar immediately nodded, and Taph let go of him, his expression changing from anger to glee. Good. As I was saying, I am looking after you, not ordering you around. Me and Noob agreed to swap tomorrow. If things go well, Noob will stay with you for the rest of the week. Understand? Dusekkar chuckled and gave another nod. "You sure "talk" a lot for being mute, Taph." Taph stared at the pumpkin mage, flabbergasted. He crossed his arms over his chest, creating an 'x' shape. No I don't. He turned his head away in a dramatic manner, pissed at the admin.

Dusekkar laughed in triumph. I win. Awkward silence filled the cabin as they waited for the other to say something, anything. They locked eyes again, making them both blush slightly. Taph shook his head. Are you... hungry? "I mean, I guess? I hadn't eaten that well last night." Taph smiled under his bandanna. The admin noticed Taph's tail moving like a storm. Was he that happy for him to reply? It almost made him smile himself. I'll make you something. Taph walked towards the kitchen, his wings spread a bit outwards. "Taph, aren't you banned from using the stove?" Taph slowly turned his head to face Dusekkar. Don't snitch. "You're going to end up on the naughty list." Dusekkar grinned, trying to play with his emotions. There is a difference between being naughty and helping. Now go back to sleep before I make you. Taph ducked behind a corner into the kitchen area. "Oh, someone feels bossy today!" Dusekkar mocked. He laid back down. Does Taph really think an insomniac like him could sleep that easily? Oh well, he'll just enjoy his quiet time.

Not even a few minutes later, a loud crash can be heard from the kitchen. Dusekkar got alerted to the sound but didn't have much of a reaction. How did Taph fuck up this time? He grabbed his staff from the floor and got up to investigate. It took the pumpkin mage a second to gain his balance, but once he did, he sagged his way to the kitchen area. "Oh demolition, what seems to have -" Dusekkar peered his eyes on the ground and tried to restrain himself from laughing. Taph got up from the floor and lifted the pot up from his head.

The huge mess of more cooking utensils behind him said the whole story. Shedletsky must've put them away messily again. Why do they still trust him to clean up, anyway? Dusekkar, not being able to contain himself no longer, gave a loud laugh, which made Taph happy. "D-do you want help, Taph?" Dusekkar finished laughing, barely breathing. Taph shook his head. It's fine, really. You can change into something more comfy. Highly doubt those robes are that comfortable. Taph bent down to clean his mess as Dusekkar watched on with slight amusement. Cute. Well, Taph might be right. He should change his clothing. Dusekkar grabbed a handful of pots from the floor as a thanks. "What are you making for me?" Taph moved his hands again. Soup with bread. That's the only thing I know how to make good enough for your liking... Taph's movement slowed down. Dusekkar shrugged and left.

Chapter 5: Nashanat - Scars

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Dusekkar crept down the staircase, trying to keep his balence and not fall down. He'd change into a stray cardigan that was as beautiful as the night itself. It was one of the few good clothing he had. It was one of the few good clothing anyone in this cabin had, actually. The Spectre didn't give them that many options in clothing for them (but at least that thing gave them clothing). Dusekkar liked how this one looked. It was cute, yet he never wore it until now. Well, while he has a break, maybe he could try wearing it more. He didn't want to spoil it in rounds anyway.

Taph's cooking smelled good, he'd have to admit. He wasn't aware the demolition could even cook. He got banned from the stove since last week due to almost burning his feathers off, apparently. The pumpkin mage was to busy to be even aware of what happened. Just some talk among the cabin a day or so later is how he learned what happened. He entered the kitchen and yawned. The demolition wasn't wearing his usual robes. It was a black short sleeve shirt (maybe that one with the biblically accurate angel) with green pjamas. He probably put his cloak on earlier in the morning without dressing properly. "Taph? How is everything?" The demolition's wings fluttered a bit. He turned to see the admin, a smile on his crooked face. Bread slightly burnt. Making some soup. "... how badly did you burn it?" It's a bit black, but still edible. "What does edible mean to you? - Taph, you eat crude food." Hush. Dusekkar chuckled to himself. Give me two. Sit and wait.

Dusekkar rolled his eyes and smiled at Taph. "Okay, okay." He teased. It was fun to play around with the lower members of the company sometimes. They don't do it that often, mainly because it looks unprofessional to the upper heads. But he isn't in the office, so it doesn't matter anymore. The pumpkin mage sat down and laid his head on the table, keeping his eyes on Taph. The demolition was still busy cooking, keeping his wings well away from the flame and constantly adjusting his long black dreadlocks.

Taph was a strange creature. He was a cryptid, if you will. It's rare not to see him without the robes, as he hides his mangled body. Taph had an accident with his bombs and burnt half his face off, and was concious about how he looks. A chunk of his right lip was missing, showing his gum and teeth. It made him look like a freak. But, it felt like the admin didn't mind it. He likes how looks. Oh God, something is definitely wrong with him.

Dusekkar hadn't talked much to Taph even. He didn't like Taph. He didn't know why, Taph seems like a nice guy, they just gave Dusekkar the ick however. Maybe with his scar face and the wannabe right-hand man being delusional to not even knowing Builderman barely noticing him until now. But he could probably put aside his one-sided resentment towards the demolition. It was nice of Taph to look after him. But why did he choose to stay? Why? Taph chosing someone over Builderman. That's rare. The only time he'd do that is if it's an order from his boss... Oh, of course it would be. No one would want to stay with this pathetic excuse of an admin. Even if they were worried for him.

They'd be too scared to approach a wielder of dark magic, not to mention the same admin who had access to all of Robloxia's technology. But a part of him felt like Taph stayed on his own accords. Like, he wanted to be with Dusekkar. In a different way then what he hoped to be. It made his face hot. Fuck. He shouldn't care about why Taph was here. The pumpkin mage rubbed his face, as if the feeling would go away. He'll chose Noob to be with him for the rest of the week, to get away from Taph. Yeah, that'd be his plan. Even if staying with Noob would be more disastrous. He hid his face away, looking at the ground. How pathetic he was to think that way for a low ranking idiot.

Dusekkar heared a snapping sound near his face and looked up. Taph again. He looked worried. Are you okay? He leaned down to eye level. The pumpkin mage nodded, not looking at the burnt and scarred face in front of him, just focusing on his hands. Still hungry? "Mhm." What's with the frown? Smile. For me? Dusekkar chuckled. "You're stupid." He said, with some affection. Taph smiled again,  and narrowed his brow. Am not. He retaliated in a joking manner. Seeing him without the bandana was kind of cursed, but it didn't bother Dusekkar. And Taph didn't seem shy to show his scars around him. You're food is done. Taph signalled. I'll get it for you. Also... he paused, his face slightly red, embarrassed at what he is going to say next. "Yes Taph?" The demolition took a breath in. You're cardigan looks nice on you. Stars match you eyes. Dusekkar blushed slightly. Eh-?

"That was the stupidest thing I have ever saw you say." Dusekkar mumbled, sounding unimpressed. Taph pulled on his dreadlocks. I know, I know. Forget I said that. Dusekkar laughed again. "No, it's fine, really." Taph's wings fluttered slightly. Give me a second. Taph left the table and grabbed a small bowl and spoon. He placed it in font of Dusekkar, along with some bread. Food. For you. Taph sat next to the admin. The pumpkin mage took a sip. "It's good." He smiled warmly. Tomato. And a bit spicy too. Something he couldn't handle that well. But, it tasted divine. Dusekkar leaned on Taph's shoulder. "Thanks for staying, I guess. Don't tell the others about this, or I will kill you." Dusekkar smiled. Taph hugged him back with his wings. It felt warm and comfortable. Promise. The demolition rested his face on Dusekkar's head.

Notes:

Sorry for the hiatus. Writer's block sucks :/. Also this chapter is slightly shorter than the other chapters as I have rewritten this chapter an ungodly amount of times.

Also thank you so much for the support. The attention was kind of wild. The next two chapters should release next week.

Chapter 6: Sali, sali, kat or hencho - Stitch, sew, cut and pull

Notes:

I want to quickly mention that Noob and Two time are demi-girls in my au, to avoid confusion on genders. Also, motivation has come back since now I am writing the chapters that inspired this ff. They were originally gonna be a shitpost on tumblr... chat, I don't think it's a shitpost.

Chapter Text

Later that day...

"So, how did our day went?" Taph tilted his head up from the couch to look up and see his boss, Builderman, smiling at him. Taph waved back as he placed his book down. He had put his cloak and bandana back on after Dusekkar finished eating and they both read for the rest of the day, unaware of the time and the fact their team got back. Dusekkar was leaning on the demolition's arm and Taph wrapped his wing around him. He moved his wing out of his way as soon as he noticed his boss staring at it. Builderman chuckled. "Nothing note worthy?" Dusekkar shrugged. "Nope." Two time jumped sat next to Taph, elbowing their friend. "How did you like spending time with your boyfriend-?" both Dusekkar and Taph scolded Two time. "He is not my boyfriend!" Both defended themselves.

Two time raised her arms in the air like they were being arrested. "It's a joke, chill!" A really old one, Twosies. Dusekkar nodded in agreement. The pumpkin mage gripped Taph's cloak when aforementioned signalled 'Twosies'. A feeling of jealousy filled in his heart. Shit, they are just friends. Friends can have nicknames for each other. And he shouldn't be jealous of Taph's friends. That's... wrong. Two time left the two alone to join their team. Noob leaned on the armrest of the couch.

"Like the cardigan." She finger gunned to the admin. Dusekkar smiled. "Thanks-." Taph moved his wing over Dusekkar, and hissed at Noob (well, silently). They backed away with a face of terror. "Yeesh, someone is really clingy." Dusekkar took a moment to process the moment. When he realised, he immediately pushed the thick wings away from him, surprising Taph. "That's rude, Taph." He maffled, half humiliated. Taph shuffled away from him and Dusekkar let go of his arm. It was a bit awkward now that the others were back. Noob leaned against the armrest again, coughing in her fist. "Okay, so tomorrow, me and Taph are switching, if that doesn't bother you two." Dusekkar widened his eyes and swayed his hands in the air. "Oh no, not at all. What a delight, thanks for the call." Taph paused his movement.

"Well, I was just asking since you guys seem so... touchy to each other." The two blushed, Taph hiding himself with his wings and Dusekkar double downing. "I-it's nothing!" Noob laughed. "Okie, if you say so Duse." She smiled, beaming with joy. She walked off to the rest of the team. Taph grabbed Dusekkar's sleeve. Did I do a good job today? Dusekkar sighed. "Yes, but..." He had a sour look. "How do I say this in a way that won't offend you? Taph... I heavily dislike you and want you to-!" He covered his mouth in regret. Taph looked surprised, but not shocked. Like he knew it already. I know. He didn't even look him in the eye. I'm mute, not deaf. Taph got up to walk away. Dusekkar instinctively grabbed his tail. The demolition turned. "Give Noob a chance. You do want to be with your boss, don't you?" Taph nodded, his mood seemingly changed to be more happy. "Noob needs to stitch up the other's clothing - Taph, you were fine, my... Friend!" Dazzling. That was what he was meant to say.

When the next morning came, most of the team was already gone for the rounds. Dusekkar slept on the couch again and no one seemed to mind. He constantly waked up that night, but at least it would be the last time today. He got up, expecting Taph to be reading, only to be met with Noob stitching one of Chance's shirts. Right, he forgot they switched places. When Noob noticed her guest was awake, they started to make small talk. "I'm glad I got around to fixing our clothing." She said. "Do none of you men know how to sew?"

They cut the thin white thread with her teeth and looked at the admin. Dusekkar rubbed his eye. "No, I'm more busy with my magic." Noob grabbed another thread next to her. "We can tell, you are ignoring your sleep to study." Dusekkar rolled his eyes. "Uh- I am so so so sorry Duse. That was stupid of me!" She quickly apologised. Dusekkar nodded. "I would've hurt you if you weren't on my team." Noob shivered. "Y'know, Taph is really brave for-." Dusekkar slamped his fist on the side of the couch. "What is it with me and Taph? That's all Two and you can be talking about for weeks!" He snapped. It was really annoying him now. Noob shrugged, showing a mischievous smile. "Taph always saves you." Noob grabbed the next shirt. "He's doing it for brownie points." Dusekkar mumbled. "What about how he treats you?" The admin raised an eyebrow. "How so, Noob?" They chuckled. "When you were sleeping, it was only when Taph was around that you looked comfortable.

You had this face... that says you were nervous and it only calmed down when he had his hand on you." Dusekkar blushed, but pretended to be unbotherd. "What?" The semester cut the thread again, grabbing one of Elliot's shirts. "Yeah, and he constantly waked up last night to see you. To check if you were okay. I think he scared me when I went to get water. You can't forget about-" Dusekkar knew what they were going to say. "About last night? Yeah, I know. I just... HATE HIM! He is so stupid and weird and delusional, and, and..." He couldn't think of anything to say. The pumpkin mage huddled his legs to his face, looking sad. "Why don't I actually hate him?" He spoke with a heavy sigh. Noob paused. She giggled. "Are you sure it is hate you are feeling?" She asked. Dusekkar looked astonished at the semester. "Pardon?"

"It doesn't seem to me that you understand Robloxian emotions that well. You were one of the older admins, no?" She started. "Blushing, butterflies in your stomach, beating heart when he is near, smiling around him with such a look, wanting to hate him, but you can't: What does that mean Duse?" Dusekkar thought for a second. "Nervous attack?" Noob slapped her face, almost poking her eye with the needle.

"You are in love with him! You like Taph!" She laughed. Dusekkar shook his head in denial. "No I don't." He looked away. Noob looked at the black and gold blanket Dusekkar huddled near him, hugging it like a child with a toy. The admin clearly grew an attachment to the blanket. It had constellations sewn into it, like the Big Dipper. They chuckled. "You realise that is Taph's blanket, right?" Dusekkar's face turned a lighter blue and he instinctively throws the blanket on the floor, next to Noob. She couldn't hold her laughter. Dusekkar grabbed a pillow and screamed into it, cursing himself.

"I knew that..." He fumbled with his words. "If you were worried he didn't like you, just know he really, really, cares about you. He might feel the same about you." Dusekkar grabbed the blanket off the floor and stared at it with deer eyes. "I-I don't give a shit of what he thinks of me." Hearing him swear caught Noob off guard. "I was just saying. I'm not teasing. You both share an interest in astronomy, I noticed." Dusekkar looked at the blanket again, seeing the stars aligning to form shapes that he recognised. "I think we do." He laid it down on his lap, smiling. Noob looked at the window behind her. The others won't be back for a bit. And they were halfway done with fixing the other's clothing.

"2x2 says we are having a day off tomorrow, meaning both our team and the killers won't be playing a round, I think for the next three days. I could make a gift that you can give your lov- Taph. How about that?" Dusekkar looked at Noob with tired eyes. Tired from his mini meltdown. He thought for a bit, how happy the demolition would look. And how closer they would get. He felt his stomach filling with butterflies and his heart beating. "H-hello?" Dusekkar looked at Noob, snapping out of his daydream. "Uh... sure. Matching bracelets. His with the sun and mine with the moon." Noob nodded and grabbed some supply from her white craft box. "Why did you choose the sun, exactly?" Dusekkar looked at Taph's blanket again, hugging it this time. "His smile is as bright as it." He smiled.

Map: Glass towers

Time left: 3

Taph loaded up his tripmine, waiting to hear the agile footsteps of 1x1x1x1 as he hid near the stairs. He was sure that his "unstable eye" attack was on cool and was basically invisible from her. The sound of rattling filled the air as Taph readied himself for the attack. A green flame shot across the map and disintegrated on the tower's walls, followed by a grunt of pain. Wait, Dusekkar? No, he is back at the cabins. Even during a match he can't get his mind off the admin. Another noise was audible: more hasty and unsteady footsteps. Two time. They must have missed their attack and was being chased. And most likely lost their first life. That explains the fire.

Stupid angel girl. Thinking so high and mighty. "Taph! Ready!" They called out.Taph chucked his mine on the ground and 1x1x1x1 tripped over on it. Fire in the hole! He grabbed Two time by the wrist and dashed up the stairs as the screaming sound of the mine echoed in the tower, followed by 1x's shrieking devilish cry and a blinding purple light. The friends stared down the staircase, looking at 1x. Did Taph's attack work? 1x looked around the area, grumbling to himself. They looked up the staircase and the two survivors hid around the corner again. The next sound heard was 1x running away from the tower, probably after Shedletsky.

Two time couldn't sit still. "That was awesome Taph!" Two time raised their hand for a highfive. Taph gave one back with clear enthusiasm. It was so much more actioned packed then back at the cabins. "Noob is always so reckless, but I appreciate her work. It's nice to have you back on the team." Taph grinned under his mask. "Say, you never protect us like that. Only to your boyfriend-" Dusekkar is not my boyfriend Twosies. Two time giggled. "Even our entire team thinks you are dating." Taph rolled his eyes and looked at the ground, listening to the rattling sounds of chains and Chance's gun whistling in the background. "Come on, you have such an old married couples vibe!"

Says the guy who murdered his friend. "What does me sacrificing Azure have to do with this?" Two time ask, legitimately offended. Taph just looked at the ground, not answering Two time at first, who kept on insisting. Try to make a comeback. Sorry. They shrugged. "Just don't do that again, okay?" The cultist looked across the map and then at their timer. Still at three. 1x must've gotten someone. All of the survivors are used to death by now, but it still sucked to die. The team remains dead until the round ends or the killer wins. And they keep all the pain. That thought made them itch. Two time decided to change the direction of the conversation.

"You're not with Builderman. You have been losing more interest with him recently." Taph shrugged, hiding himself with his wings. "You have been spending more time with us." Taph looked at his friend, before giving a nod. It was an obsession I grew out of. "What about Duse?" Taph's tail swang a bit. He grabbed it, but Two time noticed. "Someone's thinking of their..." No, he is not. Two time gave a sour look. "Why are you denying your love, Taph? I'm not an expert like Elliot or Noob, but you definitely like him." She teased.

Taph slapped her hand, causing Two time to laugh even more. He doesn't like me, at all. Two time gave a sympathetic look and patted her friend on the back. He told me he disliked me last night and I should... Taph hugged himself, looking depressed. "He did appreciate your help. Plus, you never sacrifice your sleep for someone." Two time looked at the sky, smiling to his friend. Taph blushed a bit. Doesn't change the fact he dislikes me. "Dunno, he seems really close to you. Had you seen how he cuddles you?" Two time restraint their laughter as Taph tugged on their dreadlocks, hiding his red face. "You want to kiss that pumpkin." The demolition grabbed Two time by their collar. He wouldn't like how my scars feel on his face...

Two time practically hissed between their teeth as Taph's face grew hotter, realising what he said. Taph wasn't even forming words with his hands anymore, but was still trying to defend himself. "Someone's in denial." Taph kept his eyes away from Two time, becoming a blushing mess. Well there you go you shithead. The cultist wrapped their boney wings around her friend and tugged him in. "I could be your wing man if you want." They elbowed Taph, having a prideful look. Taph nodded multiple times, his embarrassment slowly fading. Two time hugged her friend. "That's the..." The noises near the glass towers seemed to have stopped and a tense feeling filled the air.

"Awh, a wingman? Who is this lucky robloxian, Taph? Builderman?" Both survivors turned their head slowly behind them, praying. 1x1x1x1 was leaning on his sword, practically breathing on their necks. "This is the part where you run." Two time grabbed Taph's hand and yelled "jump!" The two leaped from the broken balcony and flew in the air. Taph fumbled for his tripmine and Two time looking for their knife. Shit, she must've left her knife when running away. A faint rattling noise was heard. 1x was readying an attack. "Taph!" The cultist called out for her friend. Too late.

Back at the cabins...

Dusekkar looked out the window and into the dark sky outside. The match should have ended hours ago. Even Noob was cooking out of boredom now as they have finished their work not too long ago. Where was his team? Where was Taph? He was so worried for his feathered friend. Noob emerged from the kitchen, holding a plate with a sandwich and a bloxy cola. "Do you want it?" They asked. Dusekkar shook his head, biting his lip in anxiousness. C'mon Taph. Noob sat next to Dusekkar, patting his back. "I'm worried too." They reasured.

A loud creak was heard at the door. Dusekkar flinched, waiting in anticipation. "So sorry for stressing you guys out." 007n7 apologised as he supported a heavily injured Guest through the door. Guest must have died that round. And things clearly didn't go to plan this time. "I'll go get the medical supplies..!" Noob dashed up the stairs, faster than she had in any match they had. Dusekkar grabbed his staff, chanting a healing spell. "Guest, our fighter, are you feeling okay? My my, what a terrible fate." Dusekkar got up, almost stumbling back down.

The soldier smiled. "1x1x1x1 seemed to be having a very shitty week. This is the most violent they've ever been." Dusekkar gasped. "Is Shedletsky okay?" The admin asked. Builderman held Shedletsky's arm as Dusekkar asked about the admin, as if he summoned them. The other survivors entered. Still no Taph. "I'm fine Matt. I, agh, just got stabbed a bit. Taph, though..." Dusekkar covered his mouth, dropping his staff on the ground. Taph entered, being held by a shaking Two time. "Duse, I tried to save him." Taph was heavily injured and looked like he had a crash landing. Blood stained his robes. Dusekkar grabbed his staff off the ground and almost ran up to Taph. "Are you okay?" That was a stupid question. 1x thought I died when I crashed. Dusekkar placed his head on Taph's shoulder. The demolition felt wax running down his arm. Was Dusekkar crying? For him?

He blushed slightly as he hugged the admin in reassurance. Dusekkar moved his head off of Taph, wiping away the wax from his eyes. Taph brused his wax filled eyes with his thumb. Heal spell? "Oh, sorry." Dusekkar stepped back and did his chanting. Taph started to feel a lot better. "I'll get you a change of clothes - my Taph, sitting down will be nice you know." Dusekkar floated off upstairs as Noob came back down. Taph slightly blushed. My Taph. That's new. His lungs felt tight as if being around that admin made it hard to breath. Two time chuckled, humouring the situation. "Told you he cared about you Taph." He smiled. Maybe he has a chance.

Chapter Text

The morning had came once again, this time with no fear of being hunted. The rounds were over for now. Even if it was just three days. The team were very grateful for 2x2 and Jane's work. For temporarily breaking the cycle once again. Dusekkar sat on the verandah of the cabin, reading a spell book as the sun was rising up. No one was awake, as far as he was aware. He hadn't slept at all last night. Not like he had slept that much on previous nights. Just constantly waking up at random hours with sweat dripping down his body and lying back down while keeping his guard up. He probably then slept for a few minutes, rinse, repeat.

This was the first night he had slept with his entire team and yet he still didn't feel safe. Wow. Just wow. The admin was so scared at what had happened to Taph yesterday. He should be better now. His mind drifted to Noob's words last night as he read his book. "You are inlove with him! You like Taph!" He gulped with nervousness, a tingling feeling in his stomach. Those words held weight as it echoed in his mind. Maybe he did. Maybe Noob was right. He should probably do something with Taph today, to move their relationship forward. Staying in the cabin won't do much. They would probably stay at square one. But what could they do? Fishing was not that interesting, at least to the both of them.

Dusekkar looked up from his book and pondered. He didn't know his crush that well, did he? Taph liked stars, but maybe they could do something with that later. Plus, Taph wouldn't want to stay up that late, wouldn't he? With his beliefs and all. Ugh, why is this so hard! It seemed like he had a million options had just presented themselves yet none at the same time. There is not much to do is this world. It's all camp stuff. Nothing that peaked Dusekkar's interest. He slammed his head into his book, groaning in anger. "You good?" Dusekkar got startled, dropping his book to the ground with a thud. Oh, Jane. He breathed a sigh of relief, relieved it wasn't one of Taph's friends. He wouldn't hear the end of it if they learned he had a crush on their friend. Jane picked up the spell book, brushed off the dirt and gave it to the pumpkin mage. He thanked Jane.

"Thank you Ms. Doe. I'm doing fine, to say so." Jane smiled. "What seems to be bugging your mind?" She sat next to Dusekkar. He fiddled with his fingers. "Taph." He blurted out, with embarrassment. Jane smirked. "You want to go on a date with him?" Dusekkar blushed, astonished and offended by Jane. "How did you you-." Jane shrugged. "Just a hunch. Or maybe ten." She elbowed the admin, who hid themselves behind his book. Dusekkar gave a nervous chuckle. "Please?" Jane thought. "You'll have to wait to get out this hell if you want a real date." She pointed out. It was kinda obvious. The maps have nice places, but if you are being chased by a bloodthirsty assassins, it doesn't feel romantic at all. "Me and John started hanging out by walking near the offices when John still had a crush on me." She reminisce. "There is this footpath near the lake, if you want to see it." Dusekkar nodded, giving a shy smile. "Perfect."

The sun has fully risen, now morning. It felt strange to be at the cabin in the morning, since that is when the rounds start. But it was a nice change of pace, even if temporary. 007n7 and Guest were helping around, Chance might be helping too, that's fifty-fifty though, the admins were busy with their work and then there was the friend group. Taph, Two time and Elliot sat near the lake, gossiping amoung themselves. About the killers, their team mates and their personal lives. They were an interesting friend group; A cultist, an underpaid worker and a demolitionist working for Roblox. But nothing in this damned place could break their bond. Two time shifted the topic to Dusekkar out of the blue.

First about his weird sleeping patterns, then about theories on what was under his pumpkin head, then onto the topic Taph prayed they didn't. "You admitted to having a crush on Duse, Taph." Taph first defended himself, but soon nodded, half embarrassed. No way he could deny it now. Please don't tell anyone. Elliot gasped, stars in his eyes. "That is amazing! And I pinky promise not to." Taph smiled, his tail waving behind him like a puppy. He soon turned sad. I don't think Kar likes me, though. Two time buried their hands into her face, groaning. "Taph, we talked about this. He doesn't hate you!" Taph pulled on his dreadlocks. He said-. "He said this, he said that; shut the fuck up man.

Taph, you're being paranoid again. Dusekkar literally cried when he saw you were badly injured." Two time interrupted, and Elliot nodded in approval to the cultist's words. Taph crossed his arms, annoyed at his friends. They might be right. Even if she is a bit insane and mentally ill, Two time had a point this time. Two time pointed behind Taph. Dusekkar slowly approached the trio. When Elliot, Taph and Two noticed, they tried to act like they weren't just talking about him. About the man Taph liked. "Hello, my team mates." Dusekkar greeted. Elliot waved and Two nodded. He kneeled next to Taph, a bit in the demolition's personal space (not that they minded). "Taph, if not much of a hazard, would you want to walk with me after?" Taph tilted his head, surprised. Sure? Dusekkar smiled, making Taph blush slightly. "Meet me in ten by the docks."

Dusekkar waved as he went to talk to his admin friends. Elliot and Two time squealed like little girls. "You have a date with your crush!" Elliot teased. It's not a- He didn't say it was-. Taph closed his wings around his body to make himself invisible. His friends laughed. Time passed and Taph walked to the docks, in his best clothing: his usual. He saw the pumpkin mage waiting anxiously for him, wearing the stary cardigan. Taph ran over to Dusekkar, stopping before him. Sorry. Busy. Builderman. Dusekkar grinned. "Don't be sorry." He put a hand on Taph's cheek. He quickly moved his hand away, realising what he did. "Uh, that walk. Still up for it?" Taph nodded with joy. "Good. Down here. We must make haste, before it gets late." Dusekkar floated near the tree line, and Taph followed behind like a stray puppy, dragging his wings on the ground.

Dusekkar brushed some shrubbery out of the way with his hands and ushered Taph to follow him. Taph slightly flew over the bushes, landing next to the admin and they started to walk down the beaten path. It was a beautiful area that Jane had shown the admin. Lillies, small critters, and a bunch of trees. It was mostly shade. They could maybe stay here for a bit before heading back. 2x2 would be dead worried if they didn't come back when he told them to.

It was peaceful. Bird song and crickets plauged the air. Taph seemed to be lulled by the environment, looking around like a small child. Dusekkar had his mind elsewhere, however. He looked down to Taph's burnt hand, which was resting by his side. He knew how couples held each other's hands when walking in movies and shows. He thought of him and Taph doing it. It made him embarrassed in a way. Act natural. He looked the opposite way, as not to seem like a creep.

Taph noticed Dusekkar was uncomfortable. Was it because of him? That made him feel bad. Maybe he should have not come. He wrapped his wings around himself. Why did he bothered? He made this worse. The two avoided to even talk to each other for the next few minutes. This wasn't going how Dusekkar wanted to. He should break the ice. But what to say? He sighed, trying to think of something to say. "Taph, um..." Why were words so hard to form now? Taph peered slightly to the admin's direction. "How have you been?" Real smooth Matt. Taph put a hand to his chin. Good. You? "I've been fine, if not a bit tired." He yawned and the demolition gave a quiet chuckle.

Taph kicked a rock, and asked something that stunned Dusekkar. Do you still hate me? Oh Telamon, how is he going to answer this? "No. What makes you think that?" Dusekkar questioned, gritting his teeth. You have been open to hating me. Even before Forsaken. Dusekkar took a breath in. He put his arms around Taph's neck. "Yeah, I was. I'll admit it." The demolition stepped back, but his crush stayed in place. "I thought it was hate... and didn't realise I was mixing my emotions up."

Taph's face grew redder. He put his arms around the pumpkin mage's waist to hold him in place. Was the lack of sleep getting to his head again? Or is this different? "Taph, nothing in the world could make me hate you." Dusekkar paused. "Fuck me. What am I doing?" He laughed nervously. Taph also gave a small yet mute laugh. You're fine. He lowered his bandana. "You look better without it." Taph gave a weak smile. This was the closest the two had ever been to another man or anyone in general. Taph rested his forehead on Dusekkar's. They both closed their eyes nuzzled against each other for what felt like forever. It was weirdly calming. And nice. Dusekkar, gaining a feeling of humility,  coughed and turned his head away. "We better get going before 2x2 scolds us." Taph let go and nodded. Dusekkar held onto Taph's hand. It had a rough texture from his burns, but it was soothing. Taph blushed harder and tried to hide his face. Dusekkar giggled. "We don't have to-." He goes to move his hand away, but Taph held firmly. "If you say so, Taphy."

Chapter 9: Phol - flowers

Chapter Text

Later that day, around early night.

"You held his hand!?" Two time loudly wishpered, holding his hands out in the air. Taph nodded, clear joy and embarrassment on his face. When he got back from his walk with Dusekkar and they both said their goodbyes, he immediately told his friends everything and they sat near the docks talking about it. He couldn't contain himself. It was the closest relationship he had have. Even if it was still rocky on some of the edges. That was all he could talk about right now. Elliot was gobsmacked and Two time shared Taph's energy, if not a bit surprised too. "You held his hand!?" Two time yelled a bit louder this time. Quiet! Someone will hear you.

Two time coughed and nodded, giving a thumbs up. "Sorry." They apologised. Last thing Taph wanted was some else hearing their conversation. "You never let anyone touch your hands, not even us" Elliot giggled. "It has only been a day or two since you have processed your feelings for him and look at you; you held hands with an admin." That was kinda big. Dusekkar was an admin, tech wizz and sorcerer and Taph was some demolitionist that was nowhere near his level. And seeing how high Dusekkar thought of both himself and his student and daughter character, Wanwood, it was surprising for Kar to even interact with Taph, let alone hold his burnt and feathery hand (and that weird hug thing that had happened).

But that wasn't a big deal for now. "Who are we betting is going to confess first?" Elliot teased, grinning at himself. Taph, narked, hid himself in his wings. Why do they have to embarass each other like that? Two time loudly thought about the question. "Taph. Duse will be too proud to admit his feelings." Taph thought about those words. "... too proud to admit his feelings." Did his crush actually like him or is he being delusional again? Was he a prop or item for Duse? No, he shouldn't think like that. They held hands for fucks shake! And they 'hugged' for maybe ten minutes. Unless... oh good lord. He shouldn't over think like that. "... then again, Duse seems to be down bad for Taph, so I wouldn't be surprised if he confessed first." Elliot added to the conversation that Taph missed out on.

They were still doing that stupid bet for nothing. Taph joined the conversation. When will your crushes notice your feelings? That shut the both of them up, who were to silent to speak. Taph had a victorious look on his face, like he just won a great battle. Two time changed the topic hastily. "Uh, so, you want to give him a gift? We could maybe convince 2x2 to get us something, since he still has access to the outside world." Taph thought for a moment. Maybe. "What does he like?" Galaxy stuff. "Like you." Elliot pointed out, laughing. Taph softly smiled. "I know some good flower arrangements with galaxy based flowers." Two time thought. "Come, let's go. We will talk to 2x2 about your gift." The God of Roblox and Dusekkar's boss knowing about this? Fuck no. Taph would've been less reluctant if the gift was something like sweet food or a necklace, something he could easily make an excuse out of.

But flowers? Everyone gives their lover that at some point. How would he explain that? Hey 2x2, I want to give some flowers to Dusekkar. Can you help? Two time, with a grunt, lifted Taph up by the wrist. "He's chill like that, Taph! He wouldn't care who Dusekkar or you dated! He would just want everyone HAPPY!" Elliot got up to join his friends, laughing at Taph. "Do you want to give Dusekkar a gift?" Yes, of course. "Then accept 2x2 is going to help me, because we don't get good enough flowers in Forsaken for me to work with." Fuck you man. "Fuck you too Taph." Two time continued to drag their friend by the wrist as Elliot choked from laughing so hard.

In the cabin

While the friend group was talking to each other about their gifting plans, the rest of the team were in the cabin enjoying the peace without the loud ass friend group. The admins, while stuck in purgatory, still had a job to do. The three admins sat at the meeting table while 007n7, Guest 1337, Chance and Noob were chatting in the next room, their laughs being faintly audible. Builderman was looking at sales, Shedletsky was inspecting games and Dusekkar had the most screens surrounding him, as he was checking everything tech and magic related happening. Builderman looked up from his screen to Dusekkar, who seemed to be losing attention to his work, writing some sort of thing on one of the screens. "Matt, take a break. You are clearly not in the mood to do your work."

Dusekkar, startled, like he had been caught doing something he shouldn't have done, nodded in approval. "Okay." He closes all of the light blue screens around him but one, which he was still typing in. Shedletsky's interest perked up now. He closed his tab and leaned near Dusekkar, who the aforementioned leaned away from his admin friend. "Who are you texting Duse?" Dusekkar slightly blushed. "I'm not texting." He slured his words, to the point where they sounded like one word. He looked over his writing, deleting everything in embarrassment. He quickly closed his screen, pretending he just wasn't typing a cringy love poem for a specific demolitionist. The other admins giggled. "Is this about your boyfriend?" Builderman teased. Dusekkar nodded and beamed with joy, which surprised his workmates. He didn't deny it this time. He always did. The other four survivors in the cabin walked into the kitchen to prepare some food as Shedletsky slammed the table and got up. "Wait, is Taph your boyfriend now?" Shedletsky exclaimed bewildered. It prompted Noob, Guest, Chance and 007n7 to join the conversation, equally astonished as the admins. "Wait, so you two weren't dating earlier?" Guest asked, grabbing a pot from the cupboards. Dusekkar blushed slightly. "We aren't dating exactly. I was too busy "hating" him"

007n7 enabled his flight and hovered over the pumpkin mage's head. "It never seemed like you hated him. More like you wanted him." Noob and Chance giggled. It confused the admin on what was going. Wait... Dusekkar took a breath in as everyone stared at him. "Were all of you aware about my feeling for Taph before I?" He queried, practically yelling. Everyone gave some form of yes, giving teasing and chaffing smiles and laughs, then going back to their work like they didn't just pulled on the admin of magic and technology's chains. "Oh my Telamon, you guys." He grumbled, grabbing his staff close to himself. 007n7 patted the admin on the head and floated over to his teammates. "Ay, nothing to be ashamed about." Chance added. "Not being rude, you are kinda old and don't understand basic emotions that well." Noob joined, grabbing some vegetables to wash. "So you guys were teasing us because you thought we were dating and I was too proud to admit." Dusekkar processed out loud. "Some of us." 007n7 floated to reach the higher shelves. Dusekkar paused. He showed a smile of pride.

"I am actually planning to confess this week." He proudly admitted. Everyone froze wide mouthed and Noob dropped a tomato on the ground. "Holy fuck." Guest murmered. Noob squealed like a child and Chance and 007n7 were left confused. "Please, I am begging you Matt, don't." Builderman held Dusekkar by the shoulders. Dusekkar looked morose. "Why?" He asked. "I am going to feel single as fuck because everyone here has a husband or wife or boyfriend or girlfriend..." Builderman rocked Dusekkar back and forward, still complaining. Dusekkar sighed in relief and sympathy. Noob approached Dusekkar, holding two magnetic bracelets she grabbed out of their pocket. "I have those bracelets ready if you still want them." She held them up in front of Dusekkar. He goes to grab the bracelets, which Noob moved out of the way and above her head. "Promise me the 10R Duse." He grumbled. "Okay, Noob."

The next morning rolled around. Taph sat on the docks and looked into the blue waters. He dragged his tail in it, spinning it in circles to entertain himself. How long is Two time and 2x2 going to take? He peered back into the crystal water again, this time seeing two familiar faces, smiling at him. Two time held a small bouquet. "Hey Taph, look what we made." She shoved the flowers into his face. Taph snatched them out of his friends hands. 2x2 kneeled next to Taph. "Hey friend. Wish you the best of luck. Tell me what happens later, if you don't mind." He spoke with a gentle voice. The God turned around and left with no further words. Two time grabbed Taph's hood and tugged on it, ushering the demolitionist to get up and follow her. Taph does so, a nervous feeling sinking in. What if he messes up, what if Dusekkar doesn't like it? He grips the white paper that surround the flowers harder, crumpling the paper. You better not fuck up.

The friends stopped next to the cabin's verandah, where Elliot was hiding in a nearby bush. What are you doing? "Me and Two time are hiding here for moral support." Taph looked ahead of him to see Dusekkar exiting the other cabin where Jane, Iris and 2x2 stayed. He gulped and hastily hid the flowers behind his back, spreading his wings out slightly to make sure they were definitely not visible. Two time called out for Dusekkar before hiding with Elliot. Dusekkar looked and saw Taph. He smiled and walked over to him. "Taph, there you are." Taph managed to pull of a forced grin. His chest felt heavy. He didn't know that Dusekkar felt the same way right now. It's just a small gift you dumbass. They both thought. Dusekkar sighed, rustled through his cloak and fished out two yarn made bracelets. One of them had the sun in all shades of oranges, the other had the moon surrounded by white specs. Both where connected to each other. "T-the sun one is yours." Dusekkar slightly moved hand back, a bit embarrassed.

Taph took the orange bracket and slid it on his wrist. The admin put his on. "They are matching bracelets I commissioned Noob to make. They are magnetic." He stuttered, looking for the right words. Taph took a quick peak behind him. Elliot and Two time both gave thumbs ups and reasuring smiles. Taph took a big breath in. With no warning, he pressed the flowers in front of himself, looking at the ground, waiting for ridicule. This caught the pumpkin mage off guard. Flowers for him? No one has ever gave him such a gift. There wasn't that many in there. Maybe five or seven. And they were moonflowers, and some sunflowers. His favourites. Taph must've gotten help from 2x2. How else would he find such flowers in a dreaded place like this? Dusekkar carefully took them out of Taph's hands. The demolition fiddled with them, waiting for what will happen next.

Dusekkar snuggled his face against the flowers, laughing. Taph tinted a bit. "Taph, my dear. This is the nicest thing anyone has done for me." He came near Taph's face. Elliot and Two time, still hiding, tried their best not to snicker and reveal their location. Dusekkar would kill them if he found out someone was watching. The admin held Taph's hand, their bracelets snapping onto each other. Dusekkar paused, showing a straight face, like he was thinking about something. He leaned on Taph's cheek and gave a light kiss. Taph turned into a red mess as Dusekkar pulled away, wiping his lips. Taph's friends gasped in awe and quickly hid again when Dusekkar looked at their location, investigating the noise. He sighed, giving a light giggle. "That's your payment." He smiled with clear pride at what he did. Without another word, he entered the cabin as if that never happened. Taph extended an arm to him and stepped forward. Two time rolled out their hiding spot and Elliot soon walked out and stood next to Taph. "Did he just..." Elliot questioned. None of them expected that to happen. Taph held his face, which was burning with humiliation. Dusekkar entered the cabin, hand over his mouth and sat down on the couch. Noob, who was sitting on the chair opposite, looked the admin as she put a huge grey patch of fabric on the sweater she was fixing. "What's wrong?" She asked with concern. Dusekkar put his head in his head with shame. "I just kissed Taph. And I... liked it?"

Chapter Text

Here it is. The last day before the torture cycle continues. At least for everyone else. Taph wasn't aware who Dusekkar will choose to stay with him for the rest of the week. Noob maybe. Yeah, maybe. The demolition sat near the waters edge, closer to the trees, where no one could see him as easily. He wanted some alone time for now. To think. His love for that pumpkin head was growing with each hour that pass. It started off small, but it grew like a fire. Like a passion. Like a real desire. Like love. It was his Builderman obsession all over again, but this time it was more different. More fierce. Taph cuddled up against himself thinking about the admin.

A small rustling noise seeped in the air, as if something was approaching Taph, but he didn't notice it. A snarky giggle soon followed. The demolition's interest started to peak. Two time? No, the voice was too deep to be hers. Without warning, Dusekkar pounced on Taph's back, scaring the daylights out of Taph. "Rahh!" The yelled out, before giggling like a maniac. Taph struggled to control his heartbeat. His soul might as well have left his body. The admin nuzzled against Taph, creating a high pitched squeak, like a fox. "Did I scare you?" This felt weirdly out of character for Dusekkar, but it was kind of funny. Don't do that again, you dickhead. Taph answered, before growing numb. He said that to an admin. Oh lord. "Am not." The admin teased back, rubbing his face on the back of the demolition's head. Taph calmed down slightly. Phew, he isn't mad.

Someone is feeling silly today. The demolition patted the admin on the head. "Yeah, I have a bit more energy today." He lied. He just wanted to scare Taph like that. And also check on him. Taph patted the pumpkin on the head once more, messing up the vines on his head. He laughed as the admin struggled to fix it. Dusekkar gazed across the river, seeing Two time and Elliot talking to each other. Taph's closest friends. The demolition wasn't the one to be away from those he cares about. That's a bit odd. "Why aren't you with them?" He asked. Taph shrugged, not answering further. "... do you want to talk about something?" Dusekkar ducked under Taph's wings and sat next to him. Taph fiddled with the grass, avoiding eye contact. "... Taph." He whined. "Is something bothering you?" The demolition ignored again. "Taph." He said more firmly, grabbing on his hand. "You can tell me anything." Taph thought for moment and raised his hands up to form symbols. I... am fine. Just wanted to be left alone and collect my mind a bit. He curved his lips slightly under the bandanna. Dusekkar nervously laughed. "Ha ha, I understand that. Sorry for interrupting your quiet time." He gets up to leave Taph alone again.

Taph, no warning, grabbed Dusekkar's tail. The admin squeaked, embarrassed. "Taph, what are you-." Please stay Duse. He sighed and sat down again. "What happened to your alone time?" Taph looked at the ground, looking called out. "Ah- No no no! You don't have to answer if you..." Dusekkar slapped his face and huddled his legs to his chest. What is he doing? He is an admin fumbling for words like a child. You good? "I seem to not be able to talk right now." He muttered. "How foul." He felt Taph's wings wrapped around him and dragged him closer to the demolitionist. Take your time. I like your voice. "That was better than the time you complimented my eyes." Man, shut up!

The two laughed their hearts out. How stupid. "So, how have you enjoyed your week?" It was good. Being with you was nice. Maybe the highlight. Dusekkar gave a soft smile. "Yeah, I guess it was. Spending time with an admin such as I is always a highlight." You are my favourite admin, Duse. Dusekkar got startled. He wasn't expecting that, but there seemed to be no lie in that statement. "Ah..." He blushed. "You are my favourite demolition then...?" He awkwardly complimented. He was the only demolition that Dusekkar knew. Taph chuckled anyways. Thank you Mr. Admin. Taph was oddly charismatic, yet so so so weird. Dusekkar liked that. He liked that in a robloxian. He would confess now, but he was sure a better moment would come soon. Plus, he felt like he wanted to talk to Taph for a bit.

"So, what do you plan to do after Forsaken?" Taph seemed disturbed by that question. But, aren't we stuck here... forever? Dusekkar leaned on his shoulder to reasure Taph. "In the name of the Telamon, Spawn, 2x2 and any other God out there, you, I and everyone here shall be free. Look on the brightside for a bit. So, what do you want to do after all of this is over? Come on, just take a peak." Taph contemplated those words. Retire. "Wha- Why? You were so good at your job!" I loved my job, don't get me wrong... Taph looked up at the sky, seeing some birds circling overhead. I want to be free like those birds, not having robloxians attacking me for doing my job. "Understandable. Some Robloxians don't appreciate our work enough." Dusekkar gazed at those birds above them. They were crows. Crows like Taph. Their caws echoed through the air as they disappeared into the forest behind them. What do you plan to do later? Dusekkar closed his eyes. "Meet my student Wanwood again. And maybe move to Robloxia, closer to work..." Taph laid down on the grass to look up at the sky. That sounds great. Dusekkar smiled and leaned into Taph's face, pressing his lips on his cheek, before laying down next to him.

What is your obsession? "Obsession with what?" Kissing me? "I only did it twice, dang it!" He nervously chuckled. Dusekkar turned to face Taph, slightly getting up so his horns wouldn't get in the way. Yeah, twice to many. "Oh... if you don't like it, then I can stop." No! I do-. Taph quickly hid his face embarrassed. Why do you like doing so? We aren't dating. "Well, we don't have to be dating for me to do that." The feeling for a confession crept up his throat. No, not yet. He didn't feel like he was ready. "Kissing is a way robloxians show love, no?" Usually romantically, but yes. The demolition looked into the glowing face of his crush, smiling at him. "Are you up for tomorrow?" Taph tilted his head. "Heh, you are staying with me, remember?" Taph froze, but then nodded multiple times enthusiastically. "Careful Taph! - You'll get a headache." He teased, holding onto his face. Taph grinned, narrowing his glassy eyes. Dusekkar kissed his hair. "Good. See you later my Taphy." Dusekkar gets up and leaves, smiling at Taph.

Taph squealed internally. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! I'll stay with him tomorrow!

Notes:

Slightly shorter chapter than usual. I wanted to get this chapter over with.

Fun fact: The little kiss thing Dusek does is based on something I do with my irl bf, especially before we dated. Btw happy pride month!

Chapter 11: Sote - Sleep

Chapter Text

Taph woke up early today. His team was still sleeping, evident by the snoring and light breathing. He grabbed his cloak and puts it on top of his shirt. He looks around the room and notices an empty bed. Fuck me. Dusekkar was awake too. He rolled his eyes and walked down stairs. How many times had they told him to sleep in now?

He reached the bottom of the staircase, seeing a head peaking from the couch. That's the admin all right. Taph walked to the couch and leaned against Dusekkar's head. The admin immediately pushed him off with his antlers and turned around. "Don't you dare-"

"Oh. Sorry Taph. I thought you were some one else." You're fine. "Yeah, sorry for that." Don't apologise. "Well I hit you." He giggled. Taph leaned on the back of the couch, peaking at Dusekkar's spell book. He flipped the book around, noticing it was upside down. Dusekkar gave a half embarrassed laugh. "I knew that." He protested, acting like nothing happened.

Taph narrowed his brow. He could have sworn Dusekkar was sleeping better now. He saw him sleeping a few days ago. The again, he only checked on him once and never again for the rest of the week. Maybe he wasn't. The admin yawned and leaned his head back, looking at Taph. He kissed his nose. "Worried about me?" Everyone is. Dusekkar looked back at his book, unsatisfied with the demolitionist's words.

Later...

"Crossiants?" Noob asked, looking at Elliot as the team sat down to eat. The pizza boy shrugged. "What, did you forget I was studying to be a professional chef?" He smiled at Noob. They did taste good. Dusekkar took a bite before declaring that he was full and leaving with no more words. The team looked at the half nibbled crossiant with bewilderment. Calling that a nibble was honestly very generous. It was almost like a mouse ate it.

"His lack of sleep is definitely catching up to him." 007n7 worried. Taph slammed his head into his plate, letting out a creaky groan. I swear to 2x2 he was sleeping better. Guest quickly changed the topic, not wanting to hear Taph ranting (or see, technically). "Uh... do we know who we have today? For the match." The team took a moment to recollect their thoughts on the match.

Taph pushed his chair back, stomping his foot on the ground. "Uh..." Chance stared with visible confusion. Two time knew almost immediately what Taph was doing. "We have John today." She said with a blank tone. The team all groaned annoyed as Taph nodded in approval. Two time smacked their lip. "Well, he would be easier if you were joining today, but you are stuck with your boy..." Taph grabbed his glass and lifted it up, threatening to throw it. Two time raised their hands. "Calm down. You know you have some weird situationship going on with him."

Fuck you all. He lifted the finger to his team before leaving them. "... Maybe we should be quiet about their relationship for now." Builderman proposed, finishing off his crossiant. They all nodded in agreement. Even if most of the team was aware of Taph and Dusekkar's crush on each other, Taph will deny it still when in front of the others.

The demolition took a breath in, leaning against a wall near the staircase. "Are you alright Taphy? You look mad, well don't you deary?" Taph rolled his eyes. Two time made another joke about us. "They do tend to get annoying after a bit." He turned back to his book as the team went upstairs to change. Taph, with a huff, approached the admin and snatched his book from his hands, much to the admins surprise.

"Hey!" Dusekkar reached out to grab it, but Taph put it over his head. The admin got up and tried to reach out for it again, gripping onto the demolitionist's shoulders for support. Taph moved the book further away. "Give it back, Taph!" He declared. Taph shook his head. The pumpkin mage was just smaller than Taph and Taph took advantage of that. Why was he doing this?

The team just came down the stairs, just staring at the scene with both confusion and amusement. 007n7 coughed into his fist and gestured for the team to leave before the two lovebirds killed each other. Shedletsky was the last to leave, wanting to see what happened next. "Hey just letting you both know, we are leaving. Uh, don't kill each other!" Dusekkar looked at the doorway, letting his guard down slightly.

"What gave you such and idea, John? Nothing is going wrong-" Taph tackled the admin onto the couch, laying on top of him. The spell book fell to the ground. Shedletsky took it as his queue to leave and slammed the door. "Taph, WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?" Dusekkar grunted. Dusekkar, I love you, but can you try to sleep? He pinned him down. There faces were close to each other, just barely touching. He blushed heavily. "I would if you get off me." Taph froze, just realising what he did. He scrambled to get up, sitting in the pumpkin mage's lap. Sorry... the demolition hid his face. Dusekkar laughed. "Don't be. You are right." He chuckled, struggling to breath.

"Just don't do that again, please. It was very... uncalled for. For me, at least? Taph nodded, placing his jittery hands in his lap. Never again. Nuh-uh. The two tried to ignore each other in the overwhelming silence. Dusekkar sighed, got up and kissed Taph on the cheek. "Mind getting off my lap now?" He whispered. Taph got up from the couch, chuckling nervously. He picked up the spell book, tauntingly waving it in front of Dusekkar. Sleep and I will give you this back. "Fine." He smiled at Taph.

He laid back down, looking at the ceiling.

Chapter 12: Darouna khwab - Nightmare

Notes:

Sorry for the long hiatus. I had personal stuff to deal with that made me icky on love (aka my bf broke up with me)

Chapter Text

Later that day

Taph woke up in the middle of the night again. Not because of he heard something, or needed to go anywhere. But rather out of intuition. He got up and stretched his back, allowing his wings to move freely.

He rubbed his eyes and tightened his bandana that covered his mouth. He looked around to see his team still sleeping. It must be midnight by now. Then again, there is no way to check. Only three idea of time matter now: morning, evening and night.

He is definitely not getting gifts this year with the amount of times he woke up at strange hours. But it's important, so he has an excuse, to him at least. He looked at the corner of the room where that admin would sleep. He layed on top of his sleeping bag.

A faint orange glow came from Dusekkar's face. He was holding himself, like he was trying to comfort himself. Was he okay? Then again, this is Dusekkar for crying out loud. He would always say he is fine.

Taph crawled towards the pumpkin mage and sat next to him, looking down at him sleeping. He looked scared and nervous, feelings Taph had never thought Dusekkar could feel. He put a hand on the admin's shoulder. It just seemed to make him more tense. Oh shit... he thought. He let go.

"Please..." Dusekkar weakily muttered. "Don't... no...!" Taph looked on with both curiosity and concern. He leaned closer to the admin's face. Dusekkar hurled awake, bumping into to Taph as he got up. "Ow..." Taph clutched his face. That was not a good idea.

"Oh my goodness, I am so sorry Taphy." Dusekkar quickly apologised. Taph gave a thumbs up. "Were you watching me sleeping?" The demolitionist immediately shook his head. "Taph." Dusekkar said sternly. Maybe. I got up to get water. He lied. You looked scared. What happened? Dusekkar sighed.

"Promise me that you won't tell the others." Taph gave a nod. "Okay..." Dusekkar sat up, gently moving his head to look at the ground. "I... suffer from bad dreams. It's a plauge that haunts my mind, makes me want to scream." He shook a bit. Taph held onto his wrists.

"It's always the same; death, war, blood - The ones I love are gone. And I am the one to blame." His voice seemed to shake as he spoke. This was the most vulnerable he looked since Taph got beaten. That stupid Spectre-. "No. For once, he isn't the one to blame."

"It's been like that... for years. I only see the bad outcomes. It's like a moth to flame." Wax dripped from his eyes. Taph slumped a bit, sharing some sympathy.

"I just saw you... die in my arms. And being told I did that. All that harm." His voice cracked a bit. He closed his eyes and continued to rant.

Taph lowered the bandanna from his face and kissed Dusekkar on the forehead, making the admin squeak a bit. It seemed to calm him down a bit. "I'm sorry you had to deal with this." The pumpkin mage huffed. Taph gripped Dusekkar's wrists tighter as a response.

"I know you care." He giggled softly. Taph brought the face cover back up to cover his mouth, nodding at the admin.

Do you want me to sleep with you? Dusekkar laughed. "You're funny Taph." The demolition, however, kept the same look. Dusekkar's smile slowly faded, being replaced with embarrassment. "You're serious?" He coughed. Taph just nodded. What? Embarrassed? He teased. "Yes?" He replied in a sarcastic tone.

"Taph, we are sharing a bedroom with eight other people- what are they going to think!?" And after everything, you think that is embarrassing? Kar, we are practically dating at this point. They won't care. "Do you think I am five and need someone to sleep with?" The two stared at each other, hearing snores and breathing. "...fine." He admitted.

Taph went back to his "bed" and layed on the ground. One of his wings were in the air while the other was spread out on the floor in front of him. He patted his wing on the floor, urging the admin to lay on top of it.

Dusekkar, rolling his eyes, did as he was told. The feathers, despite some being burnt, were soft and comfy. Taph brought his other wing on top of the pumpkin mage, like a makeshift blanket.

Goodnight. Taph signalled, before closing his eyes. Dusekkar could hear him breathing. He must be tired.

It was relaxing in a way. And he felt safe in his arms. And for the first time in a while, he didn't feel scared to sleep.

"Goodnight, my love." Dusekkar smiled and hugged him back, closing his eyes and allowing himself to relax.
