And I’ll be honest, I was going to redraw everyone in the background of the last image as the Ninja, but I just couldn’t. So more basic background it is

I’m proud of all of this because this was my first attempt at a lot of stuff. Using new brushes, drawing a fully colored background, lighting in said background, using text within a drawing program, blurring a background, doing something this detailed in an actual drawing app instead of just Notability, doing a redraw of something for another fandom, I could go on and on. It was a journey, but I learned so much I’m glad I took it

With all the lore I’ve created for Brad and pre!show Lloyd… yeah, this is pretty much how its going (dw tho, Lloyd’s doing better.. other than in Lurches & Loss, I mean)

Chapter 4: Lloyd’s [SPOILERS] Traits Notes (a tiny sneak peak for Lurches & Loss ch3)

I’ll be real, originally this was only so I could get a concrete and consistent handle on what Lloyd would look like after his crash out in Lurches & Loss. But after some urging from my sister and irl friends, I’ve decided to post it online. I used bases that came with ibisPaint X for the legs, the back, the heads, and the hands because, again, this was originally only for me exploring less than human traits, not rehashing human anatomy (which I really should get around to practicing). (Plus I didn’t want to sob over proportions for a year instead of actually writing Lurches & Loss.) But everything else was drawn and designed by me

I learned so much by this process. Wings, tails, tail body language, different acrylic nail shapes, mouths, teeth, fangs, horns, skin and nail and gum coloration, and so much more! Thank you everyone online for your helpful tutorials and reference drawings because without you my shit would be even more shitty. Also special thanks for the people who gathered gifs of Okumura Rin and the people who posted about cat and big cat body language that I used for tail movement. Not to mention thank you to the people who put brushes out there for other people to use. My main drawing brush I found online forever ago and if I could source it, I would. And I’d do the same for the scales brush I also found quite awhile ago

 

 

The base of Lloyd’s wings kinda furry that thin out until they’re taken over by scales. The scales start off with oni purple but slowly turn into dragon green. The tips of the wings have claws that mimic sharpened bone. The leather of the wings are a gold though (homage to the Golden Power and creation) with a hint in purple near the bone (oni and destruction). To show that he really is the perfect balance between creation and destruction (like how Crystallized was originally intended)

(Also I was going to draw the wings how they look when folded, but I just can’t. I just can’t okay? So instead, here’s a doodle of me sobbing)

 

 

At the base of Lloyd’s horns they’re oni purple that look like cracks in the gradient from dark to bright green. They’re blunted and pretty small (comparatively to full blooded oni or dragons)

His ears are slightly pointed. Like, they look round at some angles and pointed at others

 

 

His pupils are now a dark purple. They look black, especially with them being surrounded by green, but when the light hits them in just the right way, they have a purple tint

His incisors elongated quite a bit. Specifically his top two are a bit longer than his bottom two (Lloyd’s oni form is the only oni [that I know of] that has an overbite). They don’t peak pass his lips, but it’s a near thing. They’re way sharper now, too. When he kisses Brad, he’s gotta be more careful. Plus, the inside of his mouth is slightly greener in tint from his mouth accommodating for the possibility of breathing his element (like dragons do). Can he actually breathe his element? I haven’t decided yet

 

 

His nails have the most subtle change. They’re a bit thicker, making his nail bed appear to be less pink and more white. It also causes the nails to be tougher, which makes it a pain to keep short (with having to use stronger nail clippers and eventually even metal files). Especially since they grow faster than they used too. But he needs them short to be able to parkour and he really doesn’t want to relearn how to use any weapons with super long nails. If he were to grow them out, they would come to a point, naturally. Like really sharp, long stiletto nails

 

 

Lloyd’s tail is covered in iridescent forest green scales that shrink as it travels to the tip. The end has a curved tuft of coarse blond hair (a la Blue Exorcist). It’s significantly thinner than a dragon tail and only slightly thicker than an oni tail. And it’s short enough that when it’s drooping, the hair is a few inches above the ground. At both ends, its scales are purple. And at the base is a tiny ring of fur

 

 

For Lloyd’s tail expressing Lloyd’s feelings, a lot of this is what I picture when reading other people’s fics where Lloyd has a tail. Very cartoony in how it shapes itself. But other poses are based on cats (since I headcanon Lloyd’s dragoni instincts are a mix of cat/bat/lizard). The length proportions and default position are similar to a cat’s, but the threatening pose is more like a lion’s
