Chapter Text
It had been a few months since the world calmed down, but Japan was still in shambles and so was Hawks' life. Ever since he lost his wings, he felt like he lost his purpose, even if, ironically, its what had kept him chained to the Hero Commission. He knew he would get over it, but right now the wound was still fresh on his mind and on his skin. Whatever, now, it was time for Hawks - Keigo to get out of bed and go to work. That has become the normal routine and he hated it. He would wake up, eat, go to work for a lot of hours, come home, eat and go to sleep. Repeat. Then repeat again. Again. AGAIN. AGAIN. And he hated that. He wanted to be free, he's always wanted that his whole life and he didn't even had it when he had his quirk, but at least when he was stressed he would be able to fly and forget about everything, even if it was for 5 minutes, and now that was gone too. But alas, today is another basic day.
"Ugh, not work again..." Said Hawks annoyed at the fact that he needs to get out of bed. "Another hell day with nothing to do, ugh, how do civilians live like this?" Oh, well I guess I'm a civilian now too huh? After a bit of contemplation, he figured he should hurry because it was "7:50??!!! Shit, shit I'm gonna be so late." He hurried to his minimalistic closet, picked up his basic suit - oh how he missed his hero clothes, and went to the kitchen to grab a sandwich before running down the stairs, because the Hero Commission gave every former hero the basic necessities and somehow they thought that the best place for him would be on the 28th floor of a skyscraper, almost as if they were trying to rub it in his face.
Now he was on on the 13th and wasn't even thinking of slowing down, even if he almost fell 2 floors earlier, but it didn't matter because if he was late then he was done for. After 5 more minutes, he finally reached the ground floor, but when he got out, something in the air felt weird, almost electric, like the hair on the back of his neck stood up, but he figured that is was nothing and that he needs to stop being distracted by things that don't matter. Turning a few block over he finally reaches it...the office building.
Oh yes, the former No 2 hero was now working at a boring office building, god when will he finally do something fun and exciting. Probably never, because now he was a simple human, his bird marks were gone and his once golden eyes no longer shone like they used to. If you didn't know who he was - which is kinda impossible but okay, you would think he was a simple, boring, no fun human. But before he could think more about his new life that started a few months ago, someone interrupted him.
"Hey Hawks!!" said his co-worker Teya.
"Teya, you know I'm not a hero anymore, you can now call me Keigo."
"Sorry, old habits die hard."
Teya was very nice and helpful and Keigo liked having him around, even if he sometimes annoyed him by acting like a fanboy or calling him by his hero name, but he could deal with that. What he couldn't deal with though, was the fact that his name was way to similar to his. Dabi. Somtimes he would stay on his balcony and think of him, not that he would tell that to anyone, but he caught feelings for the villain. He would sometimes stare at Dabi and think how would his hair feel, his while, spiky hair between his fingers, how would his lips feel, could they be soft even if the man was burned? And Keigo had more questions about Touya. How could he forget? In between throwing blue fire at him, Dabi had revealed his name and it shocked him to the core. He had believed that he was dead, but nope! Touya was alive and living his life. He wanted to talk more, to confess his feelings for him, but he died. He fucking died. And that broke Keigo's heart. It was shattered beyond recovery and that coupled with his new life made the perfect duo.
"-go, Keigo??"
"Sorry, I must have spaced out, let's go work."
It was so uneventful at the office, it doesn't even deserve to be retold, but it was at least over and he could go home. Finally.
As he stepped out of the building, he felt the same electric feeling.
"Teya...are you feeling this?"
"I don't feel anything? Are you okay?"
"Ye-"
BOOM
An explosion was heard. Then a dome of black and yellow lightning covered the whole city, blocking out the sun. That feeling again...It can't be good.
People were in chaos, it couldn't be the villains right? They were dead and the small time ones were being handled by the police, but none of them were that powerful to cause this.
Thunder started rumbling and lightning struck in all directions.
"What the fuck is happening?!" Was the last thing Keigo said, or he thought he said it because before it could reach his ears, everything went black.
