    By some luck, in Earth-35299, the timeline diverged and Loki never found Thanos or the Chitauri. Instead, he's found by S.H.I.E.L.D. and ends up living in the Avengers tower.

    “Loki!” Thor’s voice boomed in a way that almost irritated his ears as much as his brain. “There you are! It’s so hard to find you these days, brother. You’d think we weren’t living in the same tower!”

    It was almost as if he didn’t want to be found, Loki mused. He turned around to see the grinning buffoon trotting over. Twirling the stupid hammer around his index finger as if it was not forged from a literal star. What an idiot he was.

    “What have you been up to?” Thor asked, blissfully unaware of the insults Loki had been coming up with internally.

    “Just walking around,” Loki replied dryly, before handing Thor the crushed can. He, of course, just accepted the can with a curious look. “And crushing cans.”

    “What strange pastimes you have,” Thor remarked, looking at the can.

    Steve can hear Dustin beginning to argue with Robin, but he gets distracted at this eerie feeling. He looks around, trying to figure out what's wrong when he hears a chime. He slowly walks to the back of the store, a wave of dread washing over him as he enters the break room. His eyes frantically sweep over the area, looking for any source of danger. The only thing he notices though is a clock Keith must have bought, this is the source of the chime. The clock is creepy and old, the chimes echo in a haunting way. It feels as if he's drawn to it, before he can get to close to it he feels a hand on his shoulder. The unexpected contact scares him, jolting him back to reality. He whirls around to see a concerned Robin and an annoyed Dustin.

    “Sure, alright,” Eddie agreed. His expression softened, and he rolled his shoulders back, opening up. “I’ll watch your little sheepies for you.”

    “Really?” Steve grinned, “Man, that’s awesome. Thank you so much—”

    “I just gotta ask one thing,” Eddie interrupted, leaning over the table and closer to Steve.

    “Yeah, man,” he said, voice tight. “Anything.”

    “Why’d you leave me down there, Steve?”

    18 months after the earthquake, Steve starts having bad dreams. Which wouldn’t mean anything if it weren’t for the nosebleeds and the headaches. Hearing that clock can’t be great. Then Will feels Vecna getting close, and Steve thinks it might be best for him to sacrifice himself. He’s nice like that.
