Work Text:

Upon starting the meeting, they could tell just by everyone's looks of bewilderment that this wouldn't be heading in the direction they thought it would be heading. Two out of the eleven eggbosses seemed to be the most against this after seeing who was conducting this group discussion.

"WHERE'S LORD EGGMAN? I DIDN'T COME HERE JUST TO HANG OUT WITH THESE LOSERS!" Thunderbolt glared at Neo, who rolled their eyes.

"I require all of you to have a little patience and self-control so that I can explain to you on why I deceived you. For the duration of this meeting, call me Milord, or lord Metal if you prefer."

A loud bang shifted everyone in their seats, a walrus brimming with rage looking directly at the robot overlord at the other end of the table.

"I'm starting to think that the doctor is playing us for fools these days because I could have sworn that he said this meeting was important. Now, why would he send his perfect little creation to order us?" Tundra lamented, making his opposing figure slightly tower over the others.

"This shouldn't be anything new to you, afterall, a noble servant to Eggman wouldn't dare bat an eye at this new direction of orders, unlike your boy…" Akhlut joked, yet the walrus rejected it with a harsh scowl.

Neo watched this show, unamused by his actions, and tented his hands on the meeting table in front of them, ready to address their concerns.

"Forgive me, but the doctor will be a bit busy in the upcoming days, considering most of the world knows of our existence and wants us to be eviscerated for our actions alone. He has entrusted this specific issue to me, so I'll be your temporary leader until he decides to return."

"Quick question, not that it really matters to the topic at hand, but how are you a mobian like us, Milord?" Maw raised his hand, noticing how quiet it had gotten after they had asked that question.

The robot only shot him a blank expression, before he refocused on the topic at hand.

"As I was saying-"

"So, you're ignoring me now?" The thylacine questioned further.

"Indeed, now be still. I shall go over the contents of this mission."

The eggbosses saw Neo get up from the front of the table, making a hologram version of Empire City appear, highlighting Casino park.

"In front of you is Empire City, also known as the home and domain of Breezie the Hedgehog. She is as cunning as she is beautiful, and her charm along with her quickwitted personality has propelled her career to new heights," The robot summarized, changing the hologram to show a familiar platypus. "Your objective is to scout every nook and cranny, no matter how high or low of that city, to find Starline."

"Excuse me?" Mordred hood chuckled out nervously, praying to whatever god was listening that Neo was joking. "We don't even know if he's there! For all we know, that platypus could be making his way to one of our zones as we speak!"

"Highly unlikely. The bounty of his has gone up by now. He wouldn't risk going to a new area, seeing that bounty hunters or mercenaries could easily catch them. He must've picked this area. It's practically a different world over there," Neo countered this concern, making Hood promptly sink into his seat.

A groan escaped the vulture's beak, causing her to raise her hand. "I also have some complaints, if you don't mind."

"Yes, go on, we're still in the discussing period for this plan."

"I understand that we're after this platypus because of his research for the roboticizer, but shouldn't we take turns going to the city instead of all of us going at once? Some of us still have areas and zones to monitor from any Freedom Fighter associated group."

"That was a thought that crossed my mind, Nephthys, which is why I've come to the conclusion that you all will be rotating on who decides to go."

Another hand raised at this comment.

"What if we can't necessarily make it? I mean, I hate to be that type of person to say it, but some bases are more loved than others and not everyone is a skip and a hop away from Empire City," Tundra explained, gaining a sly laugh from the orca across from him.

"Can't fully invest in the mission as usual, Tundra. Some things don't seem to change."

"You live near the trench of the ocean, you over grown sea urchin. That means you wouldn't make it in an orderly fashion, either. You'd be a nuisance to not only me but the entire team too," Tundra made this clear, with a direct point toward the orca across the table.

"True, true, but I can still show up for the cause. While I could be a nuisance, that doesn't mean I'm completely useless, my ignorant friend."

The walrus huffed out air, a tiny screen of icy wind leaking from his mouth to warn the orca to be quiet, as the Conquering Storm spoke up as well.

"I think it would be wise for the ones who don't have to hold down a position constantly go and rotate their place of deployment. I also would like to exclude myself from the selection if possible, knowing my background, Milord."

"Very well, your needs have been heard."

The rest of the group became shocked by this, which made Clove begin to speak.

"Pardon me if I sound rude, but, how come you allowed her to ditch this role easily?"

"Because this mission is a waste of my time, to put bluntly," The lynx mused out, sounding a little too cocky that her request was granted.

"Sounds like a cop out for the mission at hand," Axel commented.

Neo glanced around the room, examining the advantages of every eggboss's ability in this room, and put their hands behind their back, walking around the table slowly.

"Conquering Storm is a warrior first and foremost. Her skills will not be needed in these circumstances." The robot placed a hand over Battle Kukku XV's hat, making the bird glance over to him. "Your talents are needed in the skies. I aspire to have more ground troops, so I'll allow you to stay in your natural playing field."

"Hmm, you're a lot more reasonable than the doctor, anyone tell you that, Lord Metal?" Kukku expressed satisfaction with a grin, as it went ignored by the robot.

"Tundra's concern about traveling is a value criticism; thus he will be excluded as well as Akhlut, Axel, and Nephthys."

The water buffalo crossed his arms, leaning in his seat, watching the walrus and orca stare menacingly at each other. The robot's clanking footsteps stopped behind Maw and Mordred hood's chairs, getting the cobra to turn around, nervously smiling at Neo, who was looking down at them both.

"Let me guess, I'm too dangerous because of my enhancements?" Maw knowingly asked as the robot shifted his gaze to the cobra.

"Indeed, Maw. I was thinking of a better alternative."

"N-Now wait just a second! I could send someone else in my stead. I'm also busy with-"

"Your forces haven't been busy for the past few weeks due to the doctor not giving you any orders to act. The Woodland Kingsmen aren't daring enough to storm your base again if you haven't done anything, neither is G.U.N, unless you didn't follow the doctor's orders?"

"HA! You're truly something else, Lord Metal! As if I would betray the doctor's orders!" The cobra awkwardly phrased, hiding his uneasy to the best of his abilities.

"Then you won't have a problem with this task. It's merely a scouting mission to see if Breezie is assisting in Starline's escape in any shape or form."

Mordred Hood choked up on his own words, becoming silent, seeing he couldn't finesse his way out of this one.

"And as a reminder to you all, failure to cooperate will be met with harsh punishment. Your cybernetics that you all possess will become useless to save you if we ever make it to that stage, understood?" He peered down at the cobra particularity, seeing them nod at this threat.

"Can't slither your way out of this one," Abyss chuckled out, causing the snake to give her a sour glance to show his disapproval.

Neo stepped backed away, beginning to speak once more about the operation more in detail.

"Hood will be a part of this group, along with Thunderbolt, Clove, and Abyss. Any disagreements?"

The pronghorn was hesitant in preparing to answer, yet Neo spoke up again.

"If there are any worries about your base or fort being taken over, do not fret over such little things. Inform your troops of the situation at hand, and have them defend instead of having them deployed. If there are any personal concerns-" Their eyes immediately locked with Clove's, who shifted in her seat a bit, knowing that they must've seen her about to raise her hand. "-Then please contact me privately."

The robot patted Mordred hood's head, some of his claws slightly scratching the cobra's scalp, as if that were a warning that running away would lead to some deadly consequences. Neo sat back down at the front of the table, tenting their hands again on the surface.

"You're all dismissed. As for the ones that will be joining me in Empire City, await further instructions."

Everyone present for the meeting left the room, leaving Neo on their own. The robot stared at the door intently, and almost like he had predicted it, someone returned that being the pronghorn. She sighed out, dulling her senses, facing the robot with some of the courage she could muster.

"Would it be a farfetched idea to ask-"

Neo raised their hand, bringing her question to a stop.

"I already know about your sister and the agreement that you and the doctor made, however…" They got up, walked to Clove, who stood at the ready. "I am not my creator. Be that as it may, I have express orders to follow in finding that platypus, so to ease your mind, I'll allow your sibling to accompany you so that you can keep a close eye on her."

The pronghorn's ear twitched at the news of this, not entirely sure if Neo was playing her for a shrew.

"Why? She's fully capable of overseeing our facility, so what the point in her coming with us?" She asked, a bit too defensively for Neo's liking.

The robot for a few seconds gazed down at her, with no expression, until they placed a hand on her shoulder.

"I did say I wanted more ground troops. Make of that as you will."

Neo walked out of the room, arms behind their back again, attempting to get out of this area, however, a tiny yet imposing voice caught their attention.

"I said I was talking to you, you bucket of bolts!" The chinchilla kicked its leg, making Neo stop in their tracks.

"Hmm, I suppose you were. What seems to be the issue with you?"

She sucked her teeth, giving them a disgusted look, pointing up at him.

"You got a lot of nerve shapeshifting into the glorious lord Eggman!"

"Being his creation, I thought you'd appreciate the fact I stayed loyal to his design. I played his part to near perfection, did I not?" The robot countered, resulting in Thunderbolt sputtering on her sentences.

"I-I mean, yeah! But you didn't even call us your loyal henchmen in that summons to action to get us here! WHERE'S THE PASSION?"

She threw her hands up while muttering to herself, Neo surprisingly amused that she could figure out the act almost straight away. Then again, Thunderbolt had a reputation for being an Eggman enthusiast for the longest time. Perhaps, some extra motivation was in order for her.

"You are absolutely correct. I might be an independent system now due to the doctor's genius, but that'll never undo my error of misrepresenting my creator in such a way. Maybe when we're done with the objective at hand, I can put in a good word for you to the doctor himself?"

They heard the chinchilla squeal with delight, hugging the robot's leg.

"I TAKE EVERYTHING I SAID ABOUT YOU BACK, LORD METAL! YOU TRULY ARE AN INSPIRATION! Well, not as much as Eggman, but still!"

Neo grabbed Thunderbolt by her nape, gently placing her in the opposite direction of where they were going.

"Don't disappoint me."

"I wouldn't dream of it, lord Metal! I'll make sure to catch that traitorous, low life platypus!" She wildly cackled.

They allowed her to trail off into her own delusions. If it helped fuel the fire of finding Starline, then it didn't matter. Mimic was also a concern… To be fair, he was the very reason Starline got out of jail in the first place, but there was nothing really pressuring Neo into targeting him fully unless he got in the way.

"Hey, 'scuse me, spiky lord."

Neo turned to face whoever said that to reveal it to be Abyss, holding a tablet and facing it toward the robot.

"Yeah, I know I used the wrong name, but just wondering real quick. Is Mimic still with Starline as in they're working as partners? I remember from the reports that it said he was the one who broke the doctor's plaything out of jail, and rewatching the footage, Mimic practically carried him out of that cell."

"I have reason to believe so, yes. Mimic was last seen escaping to Empire City after he made a hit on Breezie. I highly doubt he's in the same city after his attempt in assassination went south. I'm assuming you both have history with each other?"

Abyss exhaled, then had a serious frown.

"Had history? We were a part of the same crew back then. He was just too much of a pain to really care about the team, but hey, this is me that we're talking about. I literally stole while he manipulated people. Of course, we had a falling out, but don't worry, Spiky lord, Imma set things right. He's gonna be begging for mercy when I get my hands on him."

"Great to know that someone is enthusiastic about tracking down Mimic, but he isn't our priority," Neo reminded.

"Huh? Yeah, sure, sure. I'll make sure to remember that as I'm beating his cowardly ass."

She barely contained her resentment for the octopus. Neo's job just got a lot easier if Abyss was targeting Mimic instead. At least the group that would be focusing on Starline wouldn't slow them down. The robot spotted a certain cobra near the entrance of the building, slightly agitated with how his tail was swirling around.

"Any problems, Hood?"

Their voice made the cobra flinch out of fear.

"No! No! None at all, Lord Metal, well, there is one, but it wouldn't really matter in the gain scheme of things."

Neo tilted their head in his direction, hearing the cobra clear his throat, being much calmer than before while talking.

"How do you expect us to get into Empire City clandestinely when we're the doctor's most loyal subordinates? Breezie has ties to almost everyone within that area, and it would be impossible for us to-"

"Do not worry yourself about Breezie. I have fully prepared a strategy that won't fail."

The cobra jolted up with relief.

"Oh, that's reassuring! What's the plan then?"

The robot silently stared at Mordred Hood, increasingly making them sweat bullets as time passed. It then clicked for the cobra, sending him into a spiral of excuses.

"No, you can't be serious, my lord! I wouldn't- You could- I'm not cut out for these-"

"Relax, just because you're going in first doesn't mean you're going to be alone for long. You're just testing the waters, as they put it? You should be fine."

The cobra heard a hint of smugness judging by the end of that sentence, as if they were hiding their laughter, already clueing him into the fresh hell this mission was going to be for him specifically.

And fresh hell it was…

Thanks to the lack of incentive from abyss and the lack of courageous from Mordred Hood, their progress was drastically slowed down. This lack of communication resulted in them starting four weeks behind schedule. Neo was for sure displeased with them, yet he never acted on it like the doctor always had. At least it was getting done.

Disregarding that fact, Hood would enter first, scout a bit, then wait for Abyss to take over the ground floor and take over their security systems if it called for it in order for the cobra to sneak past guards long enough for him to interrogate Breezie in a "friendly" manner. The others were merely a safety precaution in case anything bad turned up.

Hood stood in front of the Casino, grumbling and reminding himself that he could be at risk of not being able to live again, so he blindly followed orders like a good soldier, just to be met with a familiar hedgehog near the beginning of the entrance who were greeting guests coming in.

"Is that the Mordred Hood I see?" Her voice rang with delight.

Huge unease started to creep into his mind.

"Heyyyyy… Miss Information! I'm back again!" He chimed back, firing some playful finger guns her way, with a nervous greeting.

"I can see that! How have you been, oh my gosh. It's been forever since we saw each other. You're not gonna believe this, but Neo came to visit earlier in the month," She hinted, watching the cobra fidget with his tongue.

"He was here? What an interesting thing to say? Why do say that? It's not like he doesn't trust you! He talked about you in such a great way while we were having a meeting, last I checked."

"A meeting, you say? Are you here to investigate a possible platypus missing from the Empire?" She questioned intentionally, marveling at the fact his composure was being broken down little by little.

His eyes met with hers, the hedgehog placing an arm around his shoulder accompanied by a sigh.

"How many?"

"Five, including me," He uttered, feeling disappointed that she was able to see right through him. "Are you going to tell-"

"Whatttt? Did you expect me to tell Neo about me knowing? We are like this, Hood," She pushed his shoulder, making him come closer to her. "As long as you play along, I won't tell dear old Neo about the gambling streak you were on the last time you visited. Now, act like you're scheming. I'm pretty sure another unpleasant guest is here, watching my every move."

The female hedgehog guided Mordred Hood, making a show of the fact he was here, while she mingled with guests. Breezie made eye contact with a coyote sitting at the bar area, making a gesture, causing them to turn back around. Through one of the camera systems, a squid watched carefully, so carefully in fact that the camera displayed a gray platypus next to the coyote at the drinking establishment, talking causally.

"HE'S HERE!" Thunderbolt snatched the tablet Abyss was using, grumbling under her breath. "I KNEW THAT TRAITOR WOULD BE HERE! WE HAVE TO STORM THE PLACE NOW!"

"One problem, we can't. This is a public establishment and, technically speaking, Eggman's property as well since he did take part in building this city. We'll look like traitors ourselves if we just go in a wreck the place," the squid commented, leaning back against her chair, looking across the street, watching the Casino from afar.

The chinchilla growled at her, making Abyss put her hands up defensively.

"Chill out, you hyperactive fangirl. Hood acted like he knew Breezie personally. Why would he know the Breezie the Hedgehog? It's almost like-"

"HE'S ALSO A TRAITOR, THEN!"

She made a disgruntled expression at Thunderbolt, grabbing her tablet back.

"No, that just means there's more going on. He's hiding something like… Like…"

The squid silently looked back at the tablet, watching the camera that was directed at the bar. It showed the platypus, leaving the area, but what caught her attention was the fact that the coyote sitting on one of the chairs constantly had their hands in frame of the camera.

There were telltale signs of suction cups on his fingers…

Abyss felt her blood boil along with her two hearts spike in movement. This was undoubtedly an offer to accept. Abyss abruptly stood up from her seat, facing her teammate, having a gentle smile to boot.

"You know what, Thunderbolt?" She joyously spoke up. "I was so wrong thinking my approach would work, let's try it your way, shall we? We ignore everyone else, and get to the bar as quickly as possible to take Starline down."

Sparks of electricity wildly danced around Thunderbolt's body as she became excited at Abyss' agreement.

"YES! I knew you'd see things from my perspective!" She cheered, touching her communicator. "Squad 2 here! We're moving in now. We have bigger fish to fry."

"Wait, what? But Lord Metal told us not to-"

"Bye bye!"

The chinchilla puffed out air, waiting for Abyss to catch up. The squid stretched her back, preparing for an encounter she'd likely never forget.

Abyss eagerly took the lead, walking into the building with zero hesitation and one goal in mind. Thunderbolt's ranting was just noise to her through the journey, passing the crowds. She shifted when she saw him. That coyote… That damned octopus all alone.

"HEY!" The chinchilla's irritable words finally making it through to Abyss. "Should we split up to cover more ground like we usually do? I was thinking that-"

"Clove and Cassia are going to cover both the inside and outside of this place if we fail to do that in time, but right now, we have another traitor to deal with."

Abyss pointed her attention to the coyote in front of them. As if they could sense that they were being watched, he turned around with an amused expression written on his face.

"Didn't think you'd see my calling card to you. I thought it was strange to see that snake of all eggbosses to show up, but then I realized that you were probably spying on everyone through the cameras like the coward you are."

"Coward?" She sat next to the chair beside him, pointing at his chest. "Y'know, for a cephalopod like me with your three hearts, you sure are a heartless bitch, Mimic."

Thunderbolt, reading the situation, also taking a seat near her colleague.

"Abyss, you're really one to talk, you know that? You practically stole from them while their back was turned."

"It was a participation fee! They knew that!"

"They chased you off the ship along with me because they thought we worked together! WHY DID YOU INVOLVE ME IN THAT SCHEME?"

"YOU WERE IN THE WAY! YOU EXPECT ME TO ASK KINDLY FOR YOU TO MOVE? HOW STUPID ARE YOU?"

A glass cup was placed in front of them to stop their arguing.

"Everything alright here, folks?" The chimp bot questioned, filling the glass up with alcohol, sliding it to Mimic.

"No, everything is just peachy, you damn bot… While you're here, give me the hardest scotch you have here because Gaia knows that I need it to talk to him," She gestured, Coconuts looking at Mimic, who shrugged his shoulders.

"You forgot about me, you dumb bot!"

Coconuts halted and shifted his gaze to Thunderbolt, who was fairly pissed that her presence was ignored.

"How old are you?" He asked in an unsure tone. "Actually, scratch that, how did the guards even let you pass?"

"I am here on official business, so shut up and do your job."

This warning was met with Mimic laughing.

"It's okay Coconuts. It's not like these lightweights can keep up with me anyway."

The chimp bot laughed while fist bumping the octopus' tentacle, watching Abyss fail to conceal her disdain. The squid's appendages twitched as she downed her beverage, slamming it in front of Mimic, Thunderbolt finally showing signs of worry about her, seeing her attitude change.

"You got a lot of nerve to challenge me to a drink off after not seeing each other for almost five years."

Mimic coyly tilted his head.

"Did I? I hadn't noticed. You're not the same person you're cracked up to be anyway, with that fancy new title, so what's the point knowing that you'll lose?"

Coconuts quickly slid Thunderbolt a drink, in case she had any other problems with his service tonight, and it also was in an attempt to stop her from talking as a whole as the chimp bot watched the two stared at each other with nothing but malice.

"We can test that theory right here and now," She started.

"Please do. I'm just waiting for you to prove me right."

Both of them slammed their cups on the counter, Coconuts being uncharacteristically fascinated by this.

"So much for scouting the area…" Thunderbolt murmured, sipping her beverage, becoming a spectator to the chaos in front of her.

"ABYSS, GET BACK ON!" Clove yelled to not get an answer.

She murmured something under her breath, turning to her sister, who knowingly looked back at her.

"What did I tell ya? Thunderbolt probably distracted them."

"Forget about that. Currently, we need to think of a way to sneak in without causing suspicion. We could always try the brute force way? No, this is Breezie's place. We'd look like-"

"We could go through there," Cassia brought her attention to the staff only entrance, getting a curious look. "Hey, I know that face! You're really thinking about it?"

"Lord Metal did say that we needed to scout. Abyss and Thunderbolt are preoccupied as expected."

"As they should…" Cassia muttered to herself.

"And, well, Mordred Hood is currently missing, so our best option is to turn this into a stealth mission. Once we're in, we should split up to cover more ground and make sure your communicator stays on," Clove warned, hearing her sister laugh at her worry.

"I'm not like the others, sis. Don't worry about me, just worry about finding Starline so that we can put 'em back into his cell! Now, let me work my magic."

Cassia hyped herself up, kicking the door down, hiding to the side of the entrance. Clove took that as her sign to do the same, hearing a robot come to a screeching halt when they heard the destruction.

"W-WHAT?! The door was just up a second ago! I- What do I tell the boss about this?" A drill bot panicked, the sisters making eye contact with each other.

Clove shook her head no furiously as she watched Cassia slowly have a devilish grin appear on her face, making her move right there and then.

"Hey there buddy!" Cassia peeked her head out as Grounder screamed out in terror. "Dude, relax! I was just passing through on some official Eggman business, y'know? We got a call."

Grounder nervously poked his drills together out of worry.

"A call, you say?"

"YES A CALL! Actually, one more thing, bud." Cassia dramatically pointed inside as a signal for Clove to go, as she distracted the drill bot. "I was told this building couldn't possibly be at risk of any attacks at this current moment, yet forgive me for saying this, but you might be at risk of…"

Clove found herself quietly chuckling, steadily going into the hallway, making her way to an elevator on standby.

"Who knew watching every season of Columbo would help us during a mission. I swear, Cass." A small smirk appeared on her face.

The lift stopped at her requested floor as Clove cautiously checked the communicator, reminding her of the layout. Breezie's office was the farthest office directly in front of her. Just a straight line and she would get all the answers she would need.

She began walking, still carefully looking about, seeing that this floor was suspiciously average for a businesswomen's residence. This would've gone uninterrupted had a small crack in one of the doors not caught her attention.

"-With that being said, Breezie. I'm afraid I'll have to stop this game you got going on here."

Was that Mordred Hood's voice? Clove paused, stepping near the door, opening it a bit further to view her findings.

"Hood, I'd advise you to think carefully about your decision." She warned, the snake standing in front of her, his hood flailing up as if he were ready to use his vertigo inducers.

"You know fully well of what I'm capable of, so don't say I didn't-"

"Heads up!" A voice shouted from the far end of the room.

The cobra was flung to the floor suddenly, knocking him out cold, leaving Breezie impressed.

"That is one way to deal with this issue. At least I didn't need to get my hands dirty this time around," She boasted.

"These are the chumps after the doc? Geez, they're pathetic."

A green tenrec yawned, having Breezie put a hand on her shoulder in awe.

"The doctor wasn't kidding about you! But yeah, in a way, some of them do appear like that, but they're enforcers for a reason, Surge. Cut them some slack."

Surge huffed out air while snapping her fingers at the hedgehog, little bits of sparks emerging from them.

"I was! I mean, at least the person at the door hasn't attacked us yet. They at least know their place, right, Drippy?"

Chills swiftly went down Clove's spine, realizing what the tenrec just said. She saw her flash a smile at the crack she was spying on them from, but a flow of water opened the door, snatching the pronghorn before she had time to grab her scythe.

"Gah-!"

"You should've known better than to be eavesdropping on us," a fennec chided her, holding her in captivity.

"You can let her go, Kit. She's one of the more sensible egg bosses I've seen," Breezie ordered, having Kit begrudgingly do so.

The water surrounding Clove went away, returning into the fennec's waterpack they carried around. The pronghorn shifted her gaze to Breezie who was expectingly waiting for her response.

"Hello, Clove! Last I heard-"

"Cut the facade, Breezie. I want answers about Starline's whereabouts."

"His whereabouts? Why, Clove! You know that I can't do that!" She laughed in her face, then sighed. "In truth, if I were to tell you, then I wouldn't allow you to leave this room without some heavy penalties."

"Such as?"

"Your sister."

Starline entered the room along with Cassia, who was nervously waving at Clove.

"Hey there, sis… I umm, I found Starline. That's good news, right?"

Clove accessed the situation, then glanced back over to Breezie.

"What do you want?"

"She doesn't want anything to do with the likes of you," Starline snatched her attention back to him. "What I want is information about the current standing of the Empire."

He gently pushed Cassia into the room, closing the door entirely. The tenrec grinned again, while the fennec stared daggers at Clove specifically.

"No harm will come to any of you as long as you all don't try anything to put yourselves in harms way." Starline explained calmly.

"Basically, sit down and shut the fuck up when we talk to you, capiche?" Surge barked out that order, seeing the sisters nod their heads.

"Thank you Surge for the unneeded clarification," the platypus grumbled this, clasping his hands together.

He walked in front of Mordred Hood, picking up his head, seeing he was relatively conscious now.

"Ah, Mordred Hood… I remember you…"

The snake's eyes widened, only for the platypus to drop his head back onto the floor.

"My mistake, I must've thought of another sylvanian king, useless this is the same one who happened to, oh I don't know, insult me and my work behind my back while I was working for the doctor back then?"

"Yep, that the same one!" Cassia immediately spoke, pointing at the injured snake. "He practically called you pathetic at every turn each time he saw you."

"A-Are you throwing him under the bus?" Surge amusingly questioned Cassia, who nodded furiously.

"Pretty much! We're a part of the same team, but at the same time, we're not a part of the same team, if you catch my drift," The robotic pronghorn rested an arm around her sister to show that they were united in that thought, but Clove had a more dreadful expression than what she hoped for.

However, Starline did take that point into consideration.

"Yes, you did make me aware of how estranged everyone is," Starline pondered while facing Breezie.

"Every Eggboss has something that makes them tick. Simply put, some of them will not be as reasonable as these two."

The platypus stewed with this news, and walked in front of the sisters.

"I suffered from the likes of your team for an extended amount of time, thanks to the faculty I was placed in; however, I've come to realize that my actions do, in fact, have consequences. So, we'll be doing something a bit more different than what I originally had in mind."
