Work Header

He kissed the brick (yet when he threw it, it grew spikes)

Summary:

The air was thick with anticipation as Sokka grinned, pointing the log of firewood to the stars. “Alright, who’s ready to spill some secrets -or risk getting their butt soaked in the spirit oasis!”

Or. Gaang play truth or dare, unexpected secrets are revealed (when I say that I don’t mean unexpected lmao, the gaang are just oblivious to a LOT).

-this is a wip and I’m js trying to work out how posting works now I finally got an account invatation!

Chapter 1: Kinda like a summary while I write the rest

Notes:

Random thing I went on a 5 Day Skl trip with my class right? And we had two instructors -the class got split into two groups- we had to name our groups so we could refer to them, I managed to get everyone to agree on ‘the gaang’ being our name. The 5 days I was there people kept on saying ‘the gaaaaaang’ smh.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

———

The evening sky stretched out in shades of purple and gold, and for a moment, the world seemed perfectly still as the group settled around the campfire, only the sound of crackling flames could be heard. Although the silence was acquainted, everyone was reluctant to speak up, all unsure how to break the comfortable quiet, so they left it.

They left it till Aangs bubbly voice could be heard through the warmth of the fire, “since we’re all here, why not play something as a group? It’s been a while since we’ve had free time!”

“I would advise we don’t go running around in the dark,” Katara said in a way that sounded like a tired mother, eyes gazing at Aang unsurprised.

But this time it was Sokka’s turn to vocalise, “Who says a game has to be reckless running?”
“Didn’t we always used to play things like the train game?”

If anyone didn’t know what that was, they didn’t let a whisper out.

Katara looked considerate for a moment, before mumbling about him having a point.

“But what game?”

Notes:

Again this chapter is just a taster I’m only planning from 2k-6k tho.

Chapter 2: Sokka is hosting a gameshow, i guess

Summary:

And so the game begins..

Notes:

(No this is not all of the chapter, but i just feel like i need to get something out rn while i work on the rest. Life has just started to be less busy, but i am on holiday right now soo.)

Chapter Text

It was decided: Truth or Dare. Oh, how could that go wrong?

Toph’s voice cut through the night’s air -bold and sharp; lively and smooth. “Well, somebody here’s gonna have to teach me the rules.”

Eyebrows rose. Jadegreen moonlight and dancing shadows highlighted the question in the silence. Toph wasted no time with niceties, every syllable had her usual edge.

Then they had remembered, growing up Toph was secluded from her peers, from being human.

The silence stretched for what felt like thirty seconds, oh! -Was that a cricket?

Zuko scratched the back of his neck, awkwardly gesturing to the group. “I’m sure Sokka will explain as we go..?”

Katara's shoulders tensed, and she muttered under her breath- loud enough for all to hear, really.“I’m so gonna regret allowing this.”

———

The fire crackled. Warm, flickering light. Quiet pressure of the moment.

Sokka stepped forward, the wind whispering behind him. The moonlight dazzled; it was his spotlight.

“So…” He began, drawing it out.“Truth or dare.”

Sokka leaned toward the group, peering at everyone dramatically

“Secrets shared.. or dirt built”

Some were sweating. Others were wide-eyed and ready.

Sokka continued to explain, pointing in every direction theatrically.

He looked one way. -“You pick a truth..” and then he looked the other,
“or dare!”

The fire burned brighter -the smell of charcoal filling your lungs- Sokka covered his face with his clammy hand. Imitating a magician, he raised a finger to reveal his eye peaking out.

“If you pick truth—you speak the truth. Dare? We can make you do ANYTHING!”

He dramatically brought his staff to his chest. (No, he did not just pick it up off the ground, don’t ask).

The air was thick with anticipation as Sokka grinned, pointing the log of firewood to the stars. “Alright, who’s ready to spill some secrets -or risk getting their butt soaked in the spirit oasis!”
