Chapter Text
Wednesday stared at the crystal ball on her desk. The unfamiliar feeling of embarrassment hitting her in the stomach. How could she have been so reckless? It was a simple call home updating her parents on her existence at Nevermore, and of course her mother had to ask how things were with her roommate and if things had resolved between the two of them. Wednesday, grudgingly admitting, that things had progressed and that they were (as Enid put it), seeing one another.
This of course led to cheers and some equally embarrassing displays of affection and words. Then of course Gomez had inquired about how the wolf’s parents felt about their courtship. That is when things started to fall apart. No formal request had been made. She had missed a critical step in their relationship. There must have been a dark look that had crossed her face, because her mother’s face had fallen slightly, “Oh mon sombre nuage d'orage, it is alright. It is only natural to be caught up in the feelings of show one’s love and devotion.”
“It is not alright mother.” Wednesday had responded back bitingly, “Her mother is a bigoted dirty flea ridden cur that goes out of her way to make Enid miserable. Her father…well admittedly I cannot say much about him other than he seems like a pacifist that does nothing to stand up to that woman.” She had crossed her arms and paced the room, familiar frustration with the Sinclair family simmering in her veins, “Quomodo hoc tam stultus dissimulare potui?”
“Mi víbora, relájate. Todo estará bien. Puedes arreglar esto.” Gomez had stated gently to try and appease the young raven, “I mean sure the tradition is to ask your intendeds parents about courting. However, is there no one else tu lobo vibrante views as family?”
Wednesday thought for a moment before silently sighing to herself. She pinches the bridge of her nose and shakes her head, “There is, and I loath to ask this person.”
“Well do you care for Enid?” Morticia asks knowingly.
“Of course I do! How could you ask such an idiotic question like that?!” Wednesday snarled back, her voice might have been soft but the tone was stated like being cut with a serrated knife.
Morticia smiled gently, “Then you must talk with this person.”
Wednesday looked to the ground, willing the floor to swallow her whole, but she knew her mother was correct. Her arms were crossed and she internally swore at the position she had found herself in; but she knew she would do anything for Enid. Hell, she had been ready to raze Nevermore to the ground a few weeks ago; she had gone and tortured the wolf’s elder brother to find out where she had been hiding; she supposed she would have to endure this too for the sake of their relationship, “Alright. So be it. However, I need you to send Lurch to pick me up so I can come home and use the three-day school break to prepare.”
“Of course!” Gomez said cheerfully, choosing to remain oblivious to his daughter’s obvious disdain, “Whatever you need! We can tell the principal to excuse you due to family business matters, and you can do whatever you need to do.”
“Is my car still in one piece as well?” Wednesday asks curtly.
“Of course, my dear. Want us to discuss having your car at campus?” Morticia asks brightly as if knowing what her daughter had in mind and likely seen the outcome.
Wednesday internally rolled her eyes at her mother’s look with tone to match, but nonetheless forced herself to remain cordial, “If you would. Considering I have, as they say, toed the line thus far. I can also make a guarantee to…not abuse the privilege.”
“Very well! We will be in touch once the arrangements have been made and to let you know when to expect Lurch at the school. Oh, mi amor, ¿no es esto emocionante? Me recuerda a aquella época...” Wednesday had disconnected the crystal ball at that point.
Her arms were still crossed as she paced the length of the room. Thing tapping on her desk, having been present yet silent throughout the conversation, “I am a disgrace right now.” She growled out to his question about her attitude, “How could I have overlooked this?”
He tapped out something and she shook her head, “What do you know?” She demanded harshly, “Enid deserves nothing but the best, and I mess up the most important step?” He rapidly taps out another comment, “Well of course I intend on fixing it! This is why I am going home. There are things that I need that would make our relationship official and demonstrate my serious commitment to her.” She strode over to the mirror to look at her reflection, “This failure will not happen again. I cannot allow it to happen, and Enid must never know.” She added darkly still looking in the mirror but giving Thing’s reflection a dark look.
The hand shivered and bowed at the tone, knowing that pushing the dark raven any further was not a wise choice. He personally did not see a big deal. It was, after all, a simple oversight that could easily be fixed; however, he also knew that the Curse could make an Addams overly obsessive and devoted depending on their personalities. For the eldest Addams daughter, Wednesday could be obsessive on a good day when it comes to certain projects; and she can already be devoted to those she cares about.
Having this oversight happen to someone who is already detailed oriented and having a paramour on top of it- Thing wisely did not argue further and instead hesitantly tapped out a question, which he watched his mistress’s expression scowl, “I need to speak with Tanaka. Lucifer and Satan only know why Enid refers to her as a ‘sister’.” She turns back around and goes to her closet. She changes out of her uniform and puts on her stripped black and white long-sleeved shirt, her black hoodie, and a pair of dark jeans. Going back over to her bed, she laces up her boots, “Alright, I need you to stay here. When Enid gets in and asks where I am, say I am running an errand. Tell her nothing of this.” She orders taking the crystal ball and wrapping it back up, “Do you understand?”
Thing tapped out an affirmative before watching curiously as the goth opened her nightstand drawer and pulled out a stake and a knife that he knew had Holy symbolic runes secretly etched in the blade. He went to tap out a question, “Just in case. One can never be too careful…or in need of tools to help with persuasion. I will return soon.” He watches as she leaves the dorm. If he could, he would smack himself out of sheer exasperation.
Wednesday strode down the hallway, her fellow students already giving her a wide berth. However; she did not care, she only had one goal in mind as she crossed over to the other side of the dorm area with one destination in mind. Upon reaching the door she needed, she made her posture was straight and as tall as she could be. Two firm knocks were all she did before she heard through the door, “Coming!” The door swung open, “Oh Wednesday.” A surprised Divina greeted.
Wednesday remained passive as she placed her hands behind her back, but she could feel a bit of frustration bubbling up, “Good afternoon, Divina. I need to speak to…Yoko. Is she available?”
“Uh…yeah; one second. Yoko!” Divinia called over her shoulder before looking back at the goth, “Here, come in.” She allowed Wednesday entry to the dorm and gently closed the door behind her.
Wednesday stood close to the door, not daring to enter further unless invited, but she did allow her gaze to observe the environment. It appeared smaller than her and Enid’s dorm room, but not as chaotic. Her eyes trailed over to what she assumed was the vampire’s area and was intrigued by the décor. Not as dark as her own, but still there were pieces she was silently admiring, “Would you like to have a seat?” Divinia asked motioning to a bean bag chair.
“No. Thank you. This is not a social visit.” Wednesday started to say as the vampire appeared from the bathroom.
“What’s up Div? I was just about to-” Yoko looked over towards her girlfriend and saw Wednesday Addams in their entry way, “Oh this is surprise. Greetings Tiny Terror.”
In two three, out two one. Wednesday thought to herself as she stares at the vampire, “Wednesday was just telling me that this is not a social call.” Divinia stated with caution as she appeared to pick up on the dark raven’s slight change in demeanor.
Yoko’s blood red eyes looked at the goth with a raised brow and offered a teasing smile, “I see that.” She turns off the bathroom light and goes to the minifridge that is on her side of the room, “Care for a drink? I do have something other than blood in here.”
“No thank you. As you were just told, I am not here for informal socializing.” Wednesday now stepped further into the room as the vampire took a seat next to the siren, “In fact, may we have a private conversation?”
Divinia was about to give into the polite request, but is stopped from getting up by a pale hand on her arm, keeping her in place, “This sounds serious, so forgive me. I would like to keep my girlfriend here as a witness in case you decide to murder me.” Yoko explained eyeing the seer with a faux polite smile.
Wednesday scoffed and crossed her arms, “If I was to murder you, I would not be so careless as to keep a witness alive, much less any evidence tying me to such a crime.” She took it upon herself to pace the room casually, “Your bodies would never be discovered and the scene would remain spotless. It would be as if nothing ever happened and it would be a case of two young lovers who ran off to be with one another; never to be seen or heard from again.”
Yoko raised her lip, showing Wednesday her long fangs as she let out a growl as she stood up now, sensing that Divinia was in possible danger, “Explain why you are here, now.”
Wednesday turned and held herself back from reaching her knife and steak, “Lets dial it back. It sounded like Wednesday just wanted to talk. You egged her on and she responded.” The siren said as she stood between the two, “So let’s calm down and take a step back.”
The vampire and seer stared one another down, neither one backing off. Wednesday kept her face passive while the vampire glared at her. Normally the seer would have taken great pleasure in this, but then a thought of a certain werewolf came to mind and she recalled why she was here. Taking a deep breath, she sighed and nodded, “Very well. I am here on behalf of Enid.” She had taken a small step back, away from the vampire’s space slightly.
“What did you do?” Yoko demanded accusingly, recalling those few days the wolf had stayed with her in the dorm after the fight with the goth.
An uncomfortable dark aura nearly settled around them as Wednesday glared at her with murderous intent, “I did nothing.” She growled out, “To suggest otherwise without just cause is an insult to my love, devotion, and honor. Do it again and we will be having problems.”
“Ok. Ok, I am sorry.” She quickly stated, as she felt a chill run up her spine. The aura she was feeling was like that of a few weeks ago when Enid had gone MIA on all of them, “I did not mean to jump to conclusions.” She felt it alleviate as Wednesday pinched the bridge of her nose to try and calm herself down, “We good?”
“Yes. My apologies. The family curse…never mind that right now.” Regaining control, the raven watched as the two retook their seats to stare at her, waiting for her to continue, “As you know, Enid and I are seeing each other…romantically; however, there is a complication on my end in regards to my family’s tradition that I overlooked.”
Divinia and Yoko shared a confused look before refocusing on the seer, “Like what? No sex before marriage?” The siren asks, “I mean we are in modern times; it is not uncommon-”
“Absolutely not!” Wednesday countered, “We are…that is to say…we are not intimate like that…anyway that is certainly not of your concern.”
“Good, because I do not want to think about my best friend like that.” Yoko stated, although she felt her girlfriend roughly elbow her side. Glancing over, she notices the eye roll and knows she had been caught. She would have been dying to know about the emotionally stunted goth’s ‘performance;’ just not the all the details of course.
Of course, the ever-observant raven noticed the brief exchange, “Lucifer help me.” She mutters out, before looking back at the two, “It is our courting tradition. Normally, the person initiating the courtship goes to their intended’s family and asks for permission.”
The vampire nearly choked on her blood beverage at hearing this before scoffing out, “Oh good luck with that. Esther is the worst! She would rather have Enid locked in a cage than let her date a non-fur!”
“Date or not. I am her mate. Her wolf, and essentially the woman herself, chose me. That…dog…has no say in the matter.” Satan only knows why, the seer still had slight doubts herself about their status and how she had gotten so fortunate, not that she would ever voice this herself out loud of course.
“Oh, we heard.” Divinia confirmed, “We are just saying if you were trying to ask the Sinclair family for anything, especially what you did to Collin…you are not getting permission.”
Wednesday started to pace once more and the two just watched her, “That is neither here nor there. I would be courting Enid with or without their permission. No, I am here for…” Wednesday took a deep breath and stopped her pacing. Turning she faced the vampire, her posture the picturesque of perfect, “Your permission.”
Yoko had been in the process of drinking her beverage when Wednesday said that and, in her surprise, she squeezed the bag so hard that it ruptured on both her and Divinia; the women not even reacting due to their shocked state. Wednesday observed the scene with a delicate raise of her brow in amusement, she had not intended on creating a blood bath; but as someone once said: there are no mistakes, only happy little accidents. Maybe this day had a positive outcome after all.
