Chapter Text
Tony was sitting around with the other Avengers when JARVIS interrupted their brooding.
“Sir, you have a call,” JARVIS announced.
“I don’t care if we lose the deal with that other company! I don’t want to speak to Alex right now!” Tony yelled.
“Apologies, sir, but this is an important call which you have labeled ‘NEVER IGNORE’ and you told me to pester you for infinity until you answered this one,” JARVIS told him.
“Please just push ignore. I’m not in the mood,” Tony announced.
“This is a call from Stiles,” JARVIS said calmly.
“Wait what? Put him on, why’s he calling me at this time of the year?” Tony wondered aloud. Soon Stiles’s voice came over the speakers.
“Hey, Tony. I was wondering if I could ask for your help. I know you told my dad that you would always be there and I’m in real deep shit,” Stiles said softly.
“Hey Smalls. I’d help you with whatever. Something bothering you?” Tony asked.
“Yeah, something happened to my whole town. Nobody remembers me, not even my own dad. I thought it was a practical joke at first, but even the sweet old lady at the grocery store said she’d never heard of a Stiles. I got really panicked and so I went to school during the night and cleaned out my locker. I also grabbed all my stuff from my room since I didn’t want to freak my dad out if he saw all of my teenager stuff in his guest room. I’m currently sitting in my Jeep in an old parking lot and I just have no idea what to do,” Stiles told him. Tony could hear the genuine sadness in his nephew’s voice and he was out of his seat before the boy had finished speaking.
“I’ll be there soon, send me your location and I’ll be there in a few hours,” Tony assured his distressed nephew.
“Thank you, Tony,” Stiles said softly. The call ended and Tony felt all the other Avengers’ stares on him, he had quite honestly forgotten that that were there.
“JARVIS, cancel all my meetings for the next week and prep a jet for me. I’m headed to Beacon Hills. Steve, tell Fury I have a personal matter to attend to and I will not be doing any missions for the next month or so. I don’t care if the world is ending, don’t call me. I’ll be back with a kid around sixteen years old and I want no one, I repeat, no one giving him trouble,” Tony shouted as he rushed towards the loading bay. He knew that practically the whole tower could hear him, but he didn’t care. JARVIS already had the key doors open and he ran to enter. The private jet immediately sped off into the sky. It only took them three hours to get to California, they were going really fast, but to Tony it felt like ages. Luckily, the parking lot was huge and JARVIS was easily able to land near where Stiles had parked his Jeep. Tony rushed to where his nephew was standing next to the rundown vehicle and pulled his nephew into a hug.
“Are you alright?” Tony asked.
“Not really. Scott, my best friend, asked if I was going to be a new student at the high school. I asked him if he was joking and he just looked at me as if I were crazy. I’ve known everyone in this town and now they all seem to have forgotten me,” Stiles sobbed. Tony could feel the tears dripping down the boy’s cheeks onto his shoulders. He pulled away from the hug and glanced at all the stuff piled in the Jeep.
“There’s room on the jet for all your stuff but I’m afraid you’ll have to leave your Jeep here. I’ve got a couple extra rooms at the tower and sure I can get you one next to me. I know this must be awful for you. Losing Claudia was like losing a piece of my heart and losing everyone you know from home should be devastating. I can get you enrolled under a false name and you can finish high school. Anything else you need, I’m here,” Tony promised him. Stiles gave a weak smile.
“Thank you for coming on such short notice and thank you for believing me,” Stiles whispered. Tony patted his shoulder.
“I taught you how to lie and I’d be one god awful teacher if I couldn’t tell if you were lying at any given moment. You’ve always been honest with me and I just knew you were telling the truth. Now let’s get going. Pepper’s sure to have a lot of questions for me when I get back and you look like you need some rest,” Tony observed. Stiles chuckled lightly and they both started to grab stuff from Stiles’s Jeep. Once they had gotten it all put on the back, Tony smiled as he watched Stiles fawn over every inch of the jet. Once they were in the air, Tony talked to Stiles about what all had been going on in Beacon Hills. Stiles had explained how werewolves were real and how Scott had gotten bitten by the Alpha, Peter Hale. How Stiles had helped Scott through all the troubles and how Alison’s aunt had turned out to be responsible for the Hale house fire. How Derek had become the new alpha and how he had bitten Isaac, Erica, and Boyd. How they had found out that Jackson was the Kanima and Gerard had kidnapped Stiles. Stiles ended his story, and while Tony thought it was hard to believe, he knew his nephew wasn’t lying. Tony promised not to spill the beans about werewolves and Stiles had visibly relaxed. They listened to some music and soon enough, they arrived. Tony had JARVIS bring up some moving carts so they could get all of Stiles’s stuff into his room and Stiles had promptly gushed over every minute detail about the tower. They arrived at Stiles’s new room, which was right next to Tony’s, and Stiles had declared it instant heaven. Tony’s young nephew had barely finished putting away all of his stuff before he collapsed on the bed. He was instantly asleep and Tony made an effort to quietly exit the room. He put a Do Not Disturb sign on Stiles’s door and then headed into his own room to work on creating a new identity for Stiles.
He kept the first name, but made Stiles’s last name be Jenkins. He figured that Stiles Jenkins sounded right and it seemed like a normal enough name. Once he had created an entire new persona for his nephew, Tony printed it out and set it aside. He fell asleep to the sounds of the printers beeping as they copied all the information.
