Chapter 1: Beginning / ROUND 〔1〕
Chapter Text
Qing Su's gaze kept focused at the sky, as the shorter grass beneath her slowly moves with the wind. The sun wasn't entirely in front of her sight, so it was nice to skygaze.
Or she's just waiting. But what is she waiting for, really?
It was shortly interrupted with a silhouette towering over her.
“Boo.” A girl with blue hair and yellow details suddenly popped up in the middle of Qing Su's skygazing, she had a smug look on her face. Was that even a smug?
“Feng Yi!” Qing Su flinched at the sudden appearance, her expression was of shock before her lips now curled up into a smile. She let out a small, soft chuckle, “Don't.. do that ever again..”
The girl, supposedly Feng Yi, also let out a small chuckle. Surprised at Qing Su's reaction, “Sorry, sorry.” she sheepishly waved her hands forward.
Feng Yi sat down on the comfortable grass next to Qing Su, she opened her lips, “...so.” but that was all what came out. She didn't have anything in mind, but the peaceful silence just feels right, in a way.
It was a moment after she finally found the right words, and what she was planning to say to Qing Su, and to finally strike up a conversation to push away the boredom, “Do you believe in God?”
Qing Su didn't mind the sudden topic, but she was curious and confused. She stayed silent, letting Feng Yi continue.
Oncе upon a time, mankind had religion and beliеved in God.
They believed in that which could not be solved by human strength, was the will of God — Believed that the entire universe revolved around the Earth.
They thought that unreachable place that connected with the sky was.. where the Gods lived.
From the moment humanity left the universe, we all forgot about God.
But if belief in God is human, if all I can do as a human is to believe..
My god.
My universe.
The crowd shook their glowsticks up and down, left and right, their disfigured faces surrounding the entire stage lit up into joy from this sight. Either that, or something else.
Feng Yi just sat frozen on the stage, near Qing Su's unmoving and lifeless body. A puddle of warm maroon was running down from Qing Su's neck.
Was that really the consequence after you lose?
A faceless figure walked up behind Feng Yi, reaching down to her upsetting state before putting on the white collar around her neck. Feng Yi flinched a tiny bit, but her composure remained the same. The figure had walked away afterwards.

“Give it back, idiot!” A boy with baldness was trying to reach for his glasses away from the other boy's grasp. He squinted his focus at where the shades where, shaking his hands and trying to reach it, but to no avail, the other kept backing up, with the shades in hand.
The other boy with dreads playfully snickered at the bald boy's attempt, shaking the shades around like it's a keyring. “Keep up, D-Lin! Maybe you'll have them for once!”
D-Lin finally reached for his shades back, carefully sliding it between his focus. He blinked twice, before letting out a slight frustrated groan. “I hate you.”
The boy with dreads smirked at his comment, not taking it seriously in the slightest, but he kept silent.
He noticed the glasses was a bit loosened, so he reached for the head of the shades to tilt it in the correct way.
D-Lin brushed the boy's hand off his face, “Ritchy, don't you have something better to do?”
Ritchy, supposedly the one with dreads, shrugged in response. Then gave another reason that wasn't entirely related to the question, but related to what he was trying to do. “Geez, I was gonna fix your glasses.”
”It is perfectly aligned, thank you very much.” D-Lin, why are you stupid? Or is he aware of his glasses being tilted in the incorrect way?
Ritchy shot him with a glare of ‘you are in denial’, “Sure it is.” his tongue met with sarcasm.
D-Lin was offended in a way, so he shot a glare back at Ritchy.
〔D-LIN | AN XIAO〕
〔ROUND 2〕
The memories of this deadly industry came coming back to D-Lin, but he kept his composure. Focusing on his victory.
Those memories weren't really related to the oldest bickering he had with Ritchy, but rather related to those distorted looking figures. The way they treat him, and a few other scenes from afar this timeline.
His opponent, An Xiao, couldn't even get a chance to sing against D-Lin, not at all. His rushing vocals always took a chance to steal An Xiao's place, only in this competition though.
D-Lin threw his makeshift guitar to the floor as it had met with the hard material, resulting it to separate into bits and pieces. D-Lin had a grin on his face, looking down at what he broke.
At some point, everything had turned red. The lights itself, I mean. The weird and disfigured crowd was in disbelief at what D-Lin did on stage.
D-Lin was panting from all of this, it made him exhausted, somehow. He looked at the holographic screen above him, shining in red, ‘D-Lin win.’
He still had this grin on his face, and he kept letting out tired shaky breaths, before it had now been gone when he got slammed onto the ground by someone, or something.

so black, black as it can be . . .
〔RITCHY / XUAN YU〕
The platforms — that supported their weight — lifted the two of them up.
The environment around the participants was oddly.. ‘satisfying’, in a way. The glimmering aura that shifts into a gradient with the fake dark background, the flooring was smooth and shining.
Though, the sparkle of the flooring was mildly dull.
The boy with dreads held onto the microphone and started his turn, as his opponent kept watch.
Ritchy's world was bland. To him, at least.
Every taste he had, it wasn't as bland. Yet, it was slightly lacking the colors that he once saw.
He was standing there by the tree, watching the small grass flow by the lukewarm breeze, watching the others play around. Or, more specifically, conversing with each other.
His world was in mix of color and dark between D-Lin. Yet, his world was splotched with gray when he — D-Lin, includes his other friend. A woman with black, silk hair, a strand drooping onto her face.
For Ritchy, that woman was off-putting. Highly off-putting. The way she looks, the way she speaks, everything. And the way D-Lin always focuses on her. But Ritchy always focuses on D-Lin.
Out of everyone he knows, he didn't respect this one, the enigmatic one right in front of him and D-Lin.
D-Lin showed affection for her, but her? She didn't show it back. That could've been obvious enough for Ritchy.
If anything,
how would he show and reveal his purpose to D-Lin? How would he word it without coming off as heavily blunt? How would D-Lin react? How would he finally realize how it works?
How would he know?
“Oi. Stop staring at me like that.”
Ritchy's temporary trance was then broke into pieces as a certain someone called him out. He didn't realize that he was staring directly at D-Lin.
He stayed silent.
Ritchy continued to sing his heart out. Even though it was mildly hollow. He screamed in melody, his scores rising up, stealing the numbers from his opponent, Xuan Yu.
He took a deep breath as his competition was declared complete.
His victory.
