Oliver was happily flying towards his friends to play and watch Quidditch. It should be a splendid time. He started to feel a pull upwards, which confused him because all he could see was blue skies and white fluffy clouds. When he passed through a cloud, he felt a strange shift and did a double-take. “Where the bloody hell am I?”
“Welcome to Asgard, Midgardian.” A dark skinned man with gold colored eyes and long dreadlocked hair.
“Asgard? Midgardian?” Oliver hopped off his broom and went into defensive mode, holding a wand in one hand and his broom in the other. “Who are you?”
“Please, stand down, I don’t mean you harm. I’m Heimdall, the son of Odin. I’m also the gatekeeper of the nine realms.”
“Nine realms?” His brows shot up.
“Yes, nine realms and the one that you come from is called Midgard or as you know it, Earth.”
“Why am I here?”
“As safekeeper of all realms, I can feel and see everything, which can be a burden. I felt you going by on that thing.” He pointed to his broom, “and was curious about that and your type of magics?”
“Oh, do you have magic up here?” He straightened up.
“Yes, but not everyone has it.”
They were interrupted by some riotous noise behind Oliver. He turned to see two males around his age running toward Heimdall.
“Those fools are having a prank war.”
“Are they?”
“Yes, it’s been going on for a while and getting tiresome.”
“Oh, I understand you. I knew a set of twins who would prank all the time.” He sighed. “They even opened a shop for it.”
“Thor! Loki! Stop this madness!” He held up his hands.
Thor skirted around them as Loki flicked his wrist. His eyes widened when he realised that they had a visitor next to the gatekeeper, and he just changed their clothes to look like a Midgardian pirate. “Oops.”
“LOKI!”
Thor came out and started laughing with Loki at them. “Nice one, Loki!” He gave him a high five.
“That’s it!” Heimdall shouted, snapping the Hofund. “Off you go!”
“No!” Thor and Loki yelled as the other one joined them on the Bifrost. They’re not sure what the destination was, but they’re going anyway.
Heimdall looked around and realised that he had sent the Midgardian too. “Bugger, I'd better message Freyr and Freyja to keep an eye on our guest.”
Damn, where am I going now? I’m going to give those men a piece of my mind once we land. They passed his realm, where he belonged, and Oliver was curious to see where they were going.
The three of them landed hard on a wooden surface and tried to rise to their feet, but one of them couldn’t. Oliver started to laugh when he saw them. Loki, the one who jinxed him, was wearing a captain pirate outfit and the other one was stuck on the floor because he had turned into a merman.
“Who are you laughing at?” Thor roared at him. “What the blazes am I?”
“I don’t know, but it’s hilarious.”
“He’s a merman!” Oliver told them. “We have them in my world if I ever get back there.”
“Do you have any idea who I am?” Thor bounced.
“No, but I’m Oliver Wood and I am a Midgardian?” He gave them a confused look.
“Midgardian?” Loki squinted his eyes at him. “Why would Heimdall bring you up there?”
“He said something about my magic, allured him to it. I was flying my broom to meet some friends.” He looked around. “Bloody hell.”
“What the?” Loki realised that he was swaying on something. “Are we on a boat?”
“Yes, we are. A pirate one because of the Jolly Roger flag.” Oliver pointed. “Where are we within the nine realms, and I still don’t know your names.”
“I’m Thor, son of Odin! I’m also the God of Thunder!” He pounded his chest. “I demand to be back to my normal body.”
“I’m Loki, son of Frigga, God of Magic and Mischief.” He rolled his eyes at his brother. “Nice to meet you, Oliver.”
“Thank you, but you didn’t answer my question. Where are we, lad?”
“Ah.” Loki took a good look around and groaned. “Damn it, Heimdall.”
“Where are we, brother?” Thor snarked.
“Vanaheim.”
“No!”
“Yes, we are, and that would explain your look.”
“What’s wrong with Vanaheim?” Oliver tilted his head.
“Only the fact that we have to deal with wild magics, delusion sights, wild forests and are known for their fertility,” Loki grumbled. “Try some magic.”
“Alright.” He took out his wand and waved it at Thor to change him back, but it didn’t work, and he had to dive out of the way before it rebounded on him. “Bloody Hell!”
“Yep, we are going to have to work together if we want to change him back to normal.” Loki focused. “I know it’s not going to be easy because it’s a different type of magicks.”
“And my Mjölnir only works for me.” Thor boasted.
“Your what now?” Oliver arched his brow.
“He’s talking about his hammer there.” Loki jerked his head. “Only the noble can pick it up.”
“Ah.” Oliver thought that they were joking and walked over to it and tried to grab it. He grunted at first because he was surprised by how heavy it was. He took a deep breath, focused his inner magic into the handle and tried again. He felt his magic shift and was able to lift it six inches before dropping it.
“How?”
“How what?” He smirked at them.
“Loki can’t even pick it up.”
“Oh, I just used a bit of inner magic.” He decided to look around. “Oh, we have an island nearby. Maybe we can find a way home from there?”
“What about me?”
“What about you? You should jump into the water, Thorman.” Oliver waved at the water. “You could swim to the island. Maybe the realm will take pity and change you back?” He shrugged.
“It’s THOR!” He yelled.
“That’s a good one, Oliver!” Loki smirked at his brother. “Go on, swim, my brother, to the island. We will meet you there, once we figure out how to sail this thing.”
“Fine.” He tried to move to the edge but couldn’t move very far. “Someone give me a push.”
The other two grinned ferally before giving him a running push into the water below. “Walk the plank, matey!”
“What?” Loki looked at him strangely.
“It’s pirate talk, since we are dressed the part.” He waved at them both. “Now, how do we steer this ship over there?” He pointed to the island.
“Ever been on a boat before?”
“No, you lad?”
“Well, sorta, and it has something to do with this wheel over here.” Loki walked over to the big wheel with spokes on it. “Let’s see if we can turn this ship.”
“Aye, aye, Matey.” He faked saluting him before checking the masts, grabbing the rails as the ship slowly turned towards the island. The masts flapped in the wind and helped it glide behind Thor, swimming away from them.
“Being a pirate is fun,” Loki yelled out.
“Not for your brother.” Oliver laughed as he watched him flop onto the beach. “We need to figure out how to help him so he can walk.”
“Well, we could probably call Freya or Freyr to assist us.” Loki tapped his chin, or we could work our magic together and could overrule it.”
“Let’s touch land, and we shall see what we feel like.” Oliver jerked his head.
“Lower the plank, matey!” He beamed at him as he joined him. He watched him go down it with no problems. “Great, my turn.” He started walking down, and suddenly the plank wobbled and he slipped off before he could react.
Thor roared in laughter as he put the board down when Loki rose, soaking wet. “Got you this time.”
“Can you two knock it off for now until we figure out how to get out of this realm?” Oliver threw up his hands in frustration.
Their eyes went wide when they saw the trees moving beyond the sand.
“Oh, Godric’s saggy balls, we have a forest full of Whomping Willows.” Olver grumbled, “And I don’t even have my broom.”
“Who’s Godric?” Loki asked.
“Never mind that.” Thor snapped at his brother. “We have a two-fold problem, and our answers are in there.”
“Oh, and what are they?”
“One, we need to help our Migardian in this strange land that he’s not familiar with.”
“Okay, and?”
“To find Bifrost to get out of here!”
“You have one other one, Thorman.” Oliver snickered. “You are still a merman. I was hoping the magics would take pity on you, but you must have made it mad.”
“Right, I need to apologise to Freyja for that childish prank that I pulled recently.”
“Thor, you didn’t!” Loki shook his head. “I might be mischief, but I know when to toe the line.” He noticed Thor’s look, “when we aren’t in our realm.”
“Freyr?” He called out.
The three men on the beach jumped when the fourth one popped up on the deck of the boat that they had just got on and glared at Thor.
“You are one lucky child, Thor. Suppose Heimdall hadn’t warned us that you were all coming, including this Midgardian. You would have suffered the wrath of Freyja.”
“Why didn’t you show yourself?” Thor thundered.
“Really, Thorman.” He smirked at his discomfort. “I wasn’t going to show myself until it’s Oliver, yes?”
The Midgardian nodded. “Yes, it’s Oliver Wood.”
“Yes, if I hadn’t moved my Skioblaonir to catch you. Freyja was going to create more chaos than you, Loki.”
“And that’s saying something.” Loki groaned. “What can we do for Thor at least?”
“I will reverse her magic on his legs for now, but you need to find the portkey in there to get home, all of you.”
“A portkey could be anything!” Oliver threw up his hands.
“Heimdall made sure to drop your broom, Oliver,” Freyr remarked, which perked up Oliver. “If you can find it, it will take you back to your realm and you can carry on with your flight.”
“Yes, bloody brilliant!” He beamed at the possible ray of light through all this.
“What about us?”
“That I can’t help you with unless you truly do repent and appease Freyja somehow.” He shook his head. “One piece of advice. Don’t use your magic in there.”
Thor snorted as the Vanir god fixed his legs. “Thank you, Freyr. I will speak to Freyja when I see her.”
“Very well.” He dipped his head as he returned to the helm of his ship and sailed away. “Good luck!”
“I’m going in!” Oliver had a determined look about his face after slipping his wand back into its holder.
“You aren’t going to wait for us?” Loki inquired.
“Are you going to put the pranks on hold?” He quirked his brow.
“I can if it would get me out of this realm. Thor?” He watched him finally able to stand.
“I was having fun!”
“Thor, it was your fun that got us in this mess as it is.” Loki snapped, “Plus, we should try to help this man get back to Midgard.”
“Fine, I’ll behave, but I won’t be happy about it.” Thor started to storm towards the forest. The other two rolled their eyes before following him.
Oliver, using his athleticism, was able to dodge the first branch that tried to swing at him before dunking. He heard a grunt as it hit Loki. “You need to be light on your feet.” He gasped out as he kept on dodging and swerving away from the branches.
The God of Lightning got mad and swung his hammer at the branches, which they didn’t like and started hitting him harder in the stomach and back. The roots were popping up to try to trip him, as well as the others.
“Thor!” His brother yelled. “Don’t use the hammer.”
“Why?” He screeched back.
“It’s magical.”
“So?”
“Didn’t you listen to Freyr?” Oliver spat out. “He said no magic in here.”
“Oh.” He slumped before getting whacked in the back. “How do you not get hit?”
“With my agility,” Oliver replied as he ducked again. He heard another grunt behind him. “Are you having issues, Loki?”
“No!” He grumbled. “I’m trying not to snap and use my magics.”
“I bet you can’t do it, Loki!” Thor yelled out. “If you mess up, you have to wear something that I give you when we get home.”
“And if you mess up?” Loki arched his brow.
He paused before resigning to the fact that he might have to do the same. “I’ll wear something that I don’t normally.”
“Yes!” Loki pumped his fist before running up to fist-bump him. They started watching each other more closely.
Oliver rolled his eyes and kept his eyes out for his broom. He was ready to leave them. He hopes his clothes go back to normal when he crosses the realm. He noticed a wider opening and darted forward, but it closed quickly when Loki tripped on a root branch. “NO!”
“What?” Thor turned around to look at him.
“Loki made a gap close.”
“Aha!” Thor turned. “I won!”
“Don’t be ridiculous, Thor.” Loki jumped up. “You know this forest is difficult to navigate.” He pushed him into a tree.
“Argh!” He bellowed as a branch poked him.
“Oh my Merlin, I need to find my broom. I’ve had it with you two. You two can be monsters together!” Oliver darted into the gap and left the two brothers behind, gaping at him. He kept on slipping through a small opening while shifting away from moving branches and roots. He finally broke through to a meadow and smiled broadly. “My broom.”
He ran up to it and picked it up. He looked around and saw trees in the distance still moving closer to him. He jumped on his broom while watching something crash through the trees. His eyes widened when he saw a chariot pulled by cats coming out with the most beautiful woman in the carriage.
The woman gave him a curious gaze and smile when she realised it wasn’t Thor or his brother. “Hello. You must be the Midgardian.”
“Yes, I’m Oliver, ma’am.”
“Oh, you have manners.” She beamed. “I’m Freyja, Freyr’s twin.”
“Much obliged. Thor said he was going to apologise.”
“Did he now?” She quirked her brow. “I’ll wait for him by the Bifrost. We are sorry that you had to put up with them.” She flicked her hand to change his clothes back to normal. “Just fly up to the clouds and you should be back in your realm, my friend. You did well dodging the trees.”
“Aye, we have one where I went to school.” He smirked.
“You had some training then.” She nodded as she heard stomping feet behind her. “Go. I have to take care of these wayward boys before sending them home.”
“Thank you!”
“You are welcome, Oliver.” She dipped her head before she slowly turned around.
Oliver pushed off and soared up into the sky as the two brothers came out. He didn’t wait to see what happened to them. He passed through a cloud that felt like the one earlier. When he broke through, he whooped and did a loopy loop before going home. I can meet with my friends another time. I don’t think anyone would believe me.
