As the Heros joined hands and cast the spell of Hope to disrupt the ritual, the Villain turned to golden dust and the world rejoiced.
From the rubble of the old world that the villian had left behind they rebuilt the world even better than before.
No more corruption and abuse, no more smog and pollution. Just good honest people taking care of each other.

He did win....
They discovered years later a journal from the Villains childhood.
In it he details a plan to tear down all the evils in the world so that the world could be built anew. Brighter and Happier than ever before.
No more Overflowing Orphange or Slums. No more children dying in the winter because there's no food or heat.
He made the Hero visit all those disgusting places where those in Power were taking advantage of those with none.
He ensured the Hero knew what needed fixing.
He tore down everything to the very foundations.
There was never a plan to summon the armies of Hel to raise the human race from the earth and make himself a God.
His plans had always been to drag someone with the determination and Goodness to fix things through the He'll that had been his hel of a childhood, in order that the past not be repeated.
The plan was to draw together enough people with genuine Goodness in their hearts to rebuild a brighter happier world after he's destroyed it.
BTW he's also the Wise Old Mentor that showed the Heros visions of what needed seeing and told him where to go.
He's now living a cosy Cottage Core Life with his partner in the middle of nowhere.
