Work Text:
In contemplative silence, we walk side by side along the beach, savoring each other’s presence in the little time we still have together.
All too quickly, we reach the point of separation, I can't go any further. Despite the new alliance between vampires and daywalkers, I’m still not ready to test the boundaries Nova’s father has set for me—not because I’m a vampire; we’re getting past that—but because of my supposed potential as her new “boyfriend.” Can we even call ourselves that yet? Maybe it’s still too soon; we haven’t even had our first kiss yet, I think. Not for lack of desire on my part, of course, I just don’t want to push her boundaries so early on.
"So" I break the silence, not wanting to say goodbye "can we go out again?"
"Of course" she stops in front of me, smiling " soon. I promise."
"Alright" I smile back and take a step back as she begins to walk away, turning to head down the path we came from. I’m almost at the tunnel when I hear her voice behind me.
"Victor! Wait!"
I turn to her, startled by the urgency in her voice, only to see her running toward me, her face serious and determined. She stops abruptly in front of me, locking eyes with an intensity that holds me in place under the weight of her gaze. I swallow hard, taking a step closer, never once looking away from her eyes.
She’s the one who moves first, closing the small distance still between us and pressing her lips to mine in a passionate kiss. I don’t hesitate for even a second before kissing her back, lifting one hand to her face, cradling it gently in my palm, while the other wraps around her waist, pulling her closer.
Her lips are warm and soft against mine, her hands framing my face and gently caressing my skin, sending a wave of electricity and warmth through my entire body.
We stay like that for a few seconds that feel like hours, until she slowly pulls away, her eyes locked on mine and a shy smile on her face.
I know I’m smiling like a lovestruck fool, but I can’t help it, euphoria washes over me in waves, making me feel like I’m walking on air. I’m about to lean down to kiss her again when a loud sound of moving water echoes to my left, coming from the direction of the ocean, pulling my attention away.
Nova and I look at each other at the same time, furrowing our brows as a kind of water cone rises from the middle of the sea, quickly growing into a massive spinning hurricane reaching up to the sky.
" Wow " we exclaim in unison, stepping forward, curious. It’s all we can think to say before it suddenly explodes.
