Chapter 1: Chapter 1
Chapter Text
Grey stared into viridian eyes that stared right back before their owner pushed away from his computer and stood face-to-face with her. She could see his eyes bug out, before snapping back to attention. The ex-student of Atlas said, “Sorry? You want to repeat that for me?
“Sir feels… Sir feels like it would be a good idea for me to go to UA with you,” Gray said, a little less hurried than before.
“But why? Don't you need to be here to help him?” Izuku asked, “I mean, no offense meant to Waver, Gray, but he can barely keep things clean without you around.”
Gray nodded her agreement, before biting her lip, “Sir has… A personal project he wants to work on without me. He didn't say what, but it's clear he’s taking it very seriously.”
“Do you… want to come with me?”
Oh, the damn-
“Someone has to protect you if you get in over your head,” here, the Gravekeeper cracked a rare, fond smile, “Better me than anyone else.”
Izuku sucked in a breath, rocking on his feet. Finally, he asked, “And if Waver gets in over his head?”
Gray felt her smile shrink, and she went back to worrying her lip, torn between desire and duty. Luckily, Add wasn't taking the chance to tease her for once. Finally, she answered, “Lord El-Melloi feels it would be good for me to get out of England.”
And away from Blackmore Cemetery, after that case. Izuku scanned her face as he ever had, shyly, drinking in every feature, every contour of her face before he continued, ”You really want to come?”
“Yes!” Gray exclaimed, nodding her head once.
“You know we won't be able to come back until at least summer break, barring an emergency?”
“Yes,” Gray nodded again. Izuku sighed, running a hand through his mop of hair and staring into nothing again for a second.
“Ok, I’ll take you along. Dad’s still hell knows where, so we should have the estate to ourselves and my mom.”

Avenger stood inside the plane in astral form, as he had for the last 14 hours, feeling all the other servants around him. Imagining himself pulling up Gran Torino’s yellow cape, he stayed on guard until they landed in Tokyo. Even if fights between Servants were rare in the world “After” the Holy Grail War, it didn't hurt to be aware. He could practically feel Artoria doing the same next to him.
Finally, the plane landed, letting Izuku and Gray off. Materializing as soon as they did, Avenger walked beside them in a simple three piece suit. Next to him, Artoria did the same, heels clacking on the floor as they walked forwards, the King of the Wild Hunt looking as elegant as ever.
They walked to car rentals, quickly buying one to be returned later the same day. Climbing into the passenger seat as Artoria took the wheel, the two kids got into the back.
“Avenger?” Izuku said, “Are you alright?”
“Fine,” the Servant gruffed, “I have to get my hero license renewed.”
Even though he could, and did, shower whenever he wanted, Avenger could still feel the grime and blood and other unpleasant things all over his body. His constant reminder. Dammit, he had been an idiot, and where did it get him? He wasn't Midoriya Izuku, Midoriya Izuku was the Hero who saved the world, he was just a fragment, his nadir given life by the will of the Grail within Midoriya Izuku.
And, not for the first time and definitely not the last, Avenger couldn't help wondering why him? Why was he the version Izuku had summoned, instead of any of the other versions out there?

Chapter 2: Chapter 2
Chapter Text
Izuku stepped through the Bounded Field, letting Gray in a second later, before they walked to the front door. Opening it, they walked down the hallway to the smell of something delicious from the kitchen. When they stepped in, however, Gray gave something that resembled a "meep" of shock, eyes growing wide. Sitting at the table, already eating a bowl of katsudon, was a person who looked similar to Gray, same facial structure, same electric blue eyes, just their hair color and style separating them. One grey haired and done up in a bun, the other blonde and done in a spikey ponytail.
"Yo, squirt, this your girlfriend?" Mordred asked, causing both Gray and Izuku to flush and shift a few steps away from each other. Avenger manifested a second later, pulling up the chair and sitting next to Mordred, taking the bowl and chopsticks offered to him by Inko. A moment after that, Lancer manifested, face a mask of forced calm. Mordred said, mechanically, her face doing the same briefly, "Hello, Father. I see you've gotten… bigger."
"Yes, I suppose I have," Lancer said, "Shall we, ah, set aside our past grudges for the sake of our Masters?"
"I guess," Mordred shrugged, mask breaking as she grinned at Avenger, "Hey, Deku. How was London?"
"Good," Avenger said, though the perpetual tiredness never left his voice, "Though Izuku's class was quite hectic. How have things been with you?"
"Same old, same old," Mordred said with a shrug.
"Come on, you three," Inko urged, "I've made plenty of food, I went a bit overboard celebrating you coming home, Izuku, Deku."
"Thanks, Mom." Izuku said, while Avenger gave her a smile that didn't quite meet his baggy eyes. They never did, even when he sincerely meant them.
—
Avenger stood in front of a familiar gate, waiting for them to open with sad nostalgia as he glanced back at the building in the distance. UA. Had he really only left it for a month?
The doors opened, and he was one of the servants in the vanguard, activating One for All as he did, the students still trying to comprehend what was happening. He noticed a gray haired servant with a black armor and a spear in hand just before he reached maximum speed.
Lashing out with Black Whip, Avenger grabbed three robots and leapt into the air, pulling them off the ground before slamming them down, breaking them. Izuku was in the arena now, bursts of fire coming from him as he blasted the robots. Avenger shot out a wave of Airforce with a swing of his leg, the air practically shattering at the weight of the kick, while several robots just did.
Landing on the ground, he saw the grey haired Servant fighting around Aoyama. He watched Mineta fight alongside a scruffy black haired man with a hook over his right hand tearing through metal easily. His friends, his loved ones. Could they have the same relationship they did back then? Or would they dismiss him as a simple familiar? He hoped for the former, but felt he deserved the latter.
Avenger?
Sorry, Master, I got caught in my own memories for a moment there.
Avenger launched forwards again, kicking and tearing through robots again. The past was the past, and he had to live in it.
—
Lancer whirled around Yuga, each strike of the spear slicing through the robots. A short distance away was a Servant wearing a mouthguard and a ragged cowl that made him look like a demented rabbit, a torn yellow cape lashing around him as he leapt from robot to robot with explosive force, his Master coming up behind him with single count blasts of fire to take care of the rare robot he missed. Lancer manifested her second spear, doubling the destruction she was causing as purple flames burned where she slashed and stabbed.
Yuga had doubled over from the amount of shots he was firing, stomach no doubt aching. Even in the world of Quirks, Lancer could see that wasn't normal, a result of his deal with the proverbial devil, the despair she wanted to free him from. Lance met the robot at the same time as an axe-kick, the Servant she had been observing nodded toYuga, "He'll be fine… Lancer, I'm guessing?"
"You have me beat in that regard, unfortunately," Jeanne D'Arc said.
"Avenger," he said, before turning and leaping off the robot in one move.
Hmm, interesting.
