No but like seriously. All you did night and day was practice for your next game. Night. and. day. Sometimes your family would get concerned asking you to take a break for a few weeks. This time they managed to convince you.
“this is a nice family dinner don’t you think!” Your mom doesn’t really enjoy the idea of you becoming the best striker. She says those are dreams that could possibly be achieved, but…
“wouldn’t you want a much.. more professional job? the family would look up to you.”
Even through the smile, you couldn’t bring yourself to share that feeling. The only reason your mother wanted you to have a business life rather your dreams, was to get back at her family. Maybe trying to show them that it’s possible for her to achieve something, her daughter just did it for her instead. your mother was still very successful, but at other things. she was a manager for a very popular company that helped deign houses. You didn’t know much about her work just that it could be exhausting, and that she didn’t like it. you find that your grandma and mom are almost exactly the same. They have the same tactics. Whenever you were misbehaving your mom would take something you held dear to for a little while. When you were 10 your mom took your favorite crayon for months, when you were 14 your mother took away your favorite sweater, for months. At 16 your mother took away your soccer ball for a month, only because of you begging.
“but I really like soccer mom , It makes me happy.” You smiled taking a sip of your favorite soda that you always order, You still loved your mom despite her endless attempts to push you away from soccer.
“well. whenever you want to actually start your life, you can call me.” She stands up abruptly wiping her face gently with a napkin before walking off silently towards the exit, leaving you alone. you look at her left over plate, only a few bites were taken of the pasta. You felt embarrassed not having the energy to look up and see all the eyes that were on you.
“hello? is it okay if I sit here?”
A young woman with a unique shade of brown hair and a soft smile was standing at the edge of the table of the table a clip board in her hand, possibly a business woman. You laughed to yourself, what a coincidence after having this emotional argument with your mom a young successful woman. You wouldn’t be surprised it your mother hired her to have a casual talk to you.
“yea of course!” you smile softly moving the plate on the other side of the table aside so she has room to sit down. The brown eyed girl sat down softly pulling out a piece of paper and penicl before looking straight at you with a determination causing you to feel slightly nervous. “I didn’t park into that person’s car I swear!” you exclaim looking around awkwardly as you realized you might have said that a little to loud, you smile as your cheeks warm up. The young woman in-front of you has a surprised expression before chuckling softly,
“no no! I was being slightly nervous and noticed you and.. your mother? were talking about soccer?..” She smiles softly tilting her head slightly, The sun from the cafe window hitting her hair making her look angelic. She waited no time continuing her sentence as she grabbed her clip board writing a few words. “I’m the manager for a blue lock, a soccer program to train player’s to become the best striker’s in the world. I was being nosy and heard your conversation with your mother about soccer, I was going to ask if you would like to join! we only allow the best so I would like to see you play before you accept the offer.” she spoke with determination like she genuinely believed you had what it takes to become an amazing striker.
“you wanna see me play?”
you murmur softly, you usually would be excited for an opportunity like this but something about being in a program with the best teenage strikers they’ve seen scares you. The young woman smiles holding out a business card “call me for your next soccer game, I’ll be there!”. she wink before standing up from her chair gathering her things rather quickly. “I have a-lot to do so I do have to leave rather quickly!” she exclaims smiling before she rushes out of the exit. You felt stunned, how could this day get any weirder? you groan hiding your face as you sink into the chair.

was after your stressful football game. Your team won but you didn’t seem to feel as excited as you usually would, your mother’s words replaying in your head every time you scored a goal. You sat on the grass wiping the sweating dripping from your forehead as you stared at the moist grass. Was there even really a reason you were playing football? you knew you played partly because it made you think less, helping you not almost lose your mind as the year’s went by, did you really make it to the point of being accepted to a soccer program? you look up to the small bleachers of your school as you saw your other team members parents and friend, obviously not seeing anyone for yourself but you did enjoy seeing all the excited parents. Your mouth parts slightly as you see a familiar face smiling at you, Anri. You smile softly, waving at her before dusting yourself off to talk to her.
“was I good?”
“amazing! but there’s a few things we need to discuss before we make the finalized decision.” Her smile seemed to have a more professional look as the words came out of her mouth.
“The owner of the blue lock program stated only men strikers could join the program.”
You look down feeling sort of hurt you honestly felt like crying frustrated that you couldn’t show your true potential to people. Anri smiles before lifting her hands up in a apologetic matter. “buttt, I had a idea.. could go wrong so don’t hold me to it, but I was thinking.. your just to good to decline! And you seem to have a-lot of strength. Maybe you can’t play as a girl, but you could possibly play as a boy. I have a very realistic wig that you can wear! I managed to get a fake back story too. Only if you want to of course!” she smiles looking down as you squeal jumping up and down shaking the bleachers slightly. “you don’t understand how happy I am to here that! mhm-“ You cough slightly before trying your best man accent. “that would be great.”
her mouth parts slightly before she becomes a laughing mess, “you could just be a femine boy..” she manages to mutter before laughing more, you make a confused expression before laughing with her.
You couldn’t believe that you actually really had the power to become one of the best strikers now. You could only dream of this for so long, sharing a room with a bunch of nasty teenage boys did not sound very fun tho.
“uhm can I get my own room?”
“well, I can try to squeeze that in for you, just show ego your a very good player and I’m sure it could work.” she smiles softly grabbing her phone from her back pocket before nodding and turning away seeming to be in deep conversation with someone.
You realized you would have to leave your mom for a fee months, or possibly even longer. You didn’t know much about the program but you hoped it was worth being away from your stressed mother for more than a month. It felt like this time, you were taking her favorite thing away.
You walk through the door, the creaking could probably be heard from a mile away as you stepped in placing your bag down and taking off your shoes. “mom?”
“hm?” A dazed voice could be heard from the living room over the loud sounds of the television. You chose to forget everything that happened st dinner, you and your mother seemed to have a great habit with avoiding problems as much as possible.
“Someone gave me an offer.” you state nonchalantly as you walk over to the kitchen hoping to see or hear excitement, but when you looked over all you could see was hurt.
“mom?”
she smiled softly tears welling up in her eyes , “my baby got an offer I’m so proud!” She cried out sitting up from the couch and hugging you, that definitely wasn’t the reaction you were expecting. You spoke up after feeling warm droplets hitting your skin. “mom?” You didn’t really enjoy crying in-front of family members because you weren’t use to it, it didn’t feel normal.
“it’s just a soccer program, no need to cry” You mutter patting her back before pulling away and taking a bite of the frozen chocolate bar you had in the fridge.
“I realized what I said wasn’t the best, but I really want you to know I’m trying. I love y.. you so dearly.” she smiles before wiping her tears with her sleeves containing herself. “this calls for celebration! I’ll go get some of your favorite snacks for your trip!” she smiles grabbing her keys and racing out the door before you could say anything more. You felt weird sitting in the kitchen alone with your now melting chocolate, You take another full bite eating the whole chocolate.
two more days till blue lock. and she absolutely cannot contain her excitement.
