Chapter 1: Run #74

Chapter Text

The slither of a heavy tail filled the emptiness of the dock.

Seline Hall had been your average expendable for.. She didn’t pay attention. After the endless cycle of: Go on run, die before door 30, repeat, some guards stopped her from going into the next sub. They took her somewhere and experimented on her. When she came back from it, nobody recognized her. I mean, who would? Instead of the mumbling 5 '4 woman, she was a 9' 11  snake-thing with a barracuda tail, spots of a giant grouper, and the horn-thing of a unicornfish.

Her skin was a dull pinkish-red on her back, arms, hands, shoulders, and the top half of her face. The rest of her was a calm dark blue, similar to her hair. She had a horn spouting out of her forehead, which went from that dark blue to a deep red.

As she climbed over the crates and grabbed the keycard, a feeling of unease crawled upon her. She opened the door, going through a few doors and picking up some data, and finding a flashlight.

Seline heard the door close behind her. Her heart started beating as a scribbled face of the p.ain.ter came onto the screen of the door.

“Hey,” He smirked.

“Want to see something funny?”

The red of the enraged shark filled the room. In an attempt to stop herself from looking, she closed her eyes and covered her ears. She almost didn’t hear the door open as the time ran out. Her eyes fluttered open gently, one by one.

Her head turned to each side as she continued on. The lights flickered as she opened the next door. She searched around for a side room, which there was. She had always thought her tail was too big to fit into a locker enough to survive, but she wasn’t dumb enough to try.

As she hid behind a desk, her hands instinctively drifted towards her ears. She hated how loud the angler was. She slowly slithered her way out of the room as the angler moved on, but stopped right in her tracks as she saw a bright yellow light in the darkness of the room ahead.

It turned to her, revealing a three-eyed face. They stood in silence for a few minutes before he pulled his gun out. By this point, the backup lights turned on.

He towered over her as she cowered down, her hand going up immediately.

“WHO ARE YOU?” He hollered, his hands beginning to shudder.

“Seline! My name is Seline Hall!” Her voice began to tremble as her breathing became more panicked. She had died many times, but never like this.

Why are you here? Are you an expendable?” His brows furrowed as his pupils moved shakily around her.

“Yes, I’m an expendable.” She spoke with haste.

He lowered his gun slightly as he squinted slightly.

“Why are you.. Why aren’t you human?”

“Urbanshade decided I was expendable enough to be mutated. I assume it’s the same for you?”

“I’m Sebastian.” He put his gun back, deciding she wasn’t worth the bullets. As he slithered away, she wasn’t too far behind.

She crawled through the vent of his shop, finding that it wasn’t that hard of a squeeze to get through. As Sebastian took his spot, she looked for somewhere to get comfortable. She found that the spot above him was nice to lay in, if she curled her tail slightly. They started to get to know each other more, which ended up in Sebastian trusting her.
