Chapter Text
137. That's how many years Scott’s been living with his now demon brother, after they killed their parents.
Scott loved Xornoth, and he cared for them, he really did, but they were, complicated, bipolar, very, bipolar, to the point of intense, even dangerous mood swings. And there’s been loads of times where Xornoth has hurt Scott in a bipolar attack, to then be the one comforting him. Scott knew he had to escape Rivendell, but it wasn’t as easy, Xornoth had been there for him his whole life. They knew him better than anyone, even himself. He’s thought of escape plans before, but the slightest of love and affection Xornoth shows him, makes him lose all progress.
But tonight
That changes
...
Hopefully
Scott’s plan was to escape when everybody had fallen asleep, he’d fly out through the balcony window, and he’d stay with Katherine.
Easy enough..
⋯ ⋄ ❄ ⋄ ⋯
So.. tonight’s the night… This is a good thing.. yeah! This is a good thing! This is great! He’ll be ok… without his brother… the only person that has been there for him his whole life… that has… helped him in his darkest moments…
Yeah…
It’ll be fine…
⋯ ⋄ ❄ ⋄ ⋯
Everyone had fallen asleep already, Scott triple checked all the rooms. So he changed into more comfortable attire, and made his way into the balcony. The night was..
So beautiful…
So… calm..
He could’ve stayed there the whole night, but he couldn’t, he needed to escape.
He was just outside of the Rivendell walls, he was so nervous and scared, so to calm down he flew down, it was fine! He was already outside of Rivendell, no one would find him. He was so tired, and he didn't know why, he always slept at least 8 hours every night for the past 1037 years, so why was he so tired? He probably stayed in that spot for more time than he was supposed to, so much so that he started to fall asleep, he stopped being conscious of the world around him. Did he hear a noise? He wasn't sure, everything was merging together.
Suddenly. He felt a cold hand on his shoulder. He paralyzed. /Xornoth/. That long, boney, freezing hand.
Oh...
Oh no...
He fucked up...
He really fucked uo this time...
‘What are you doing here?.’
Scott’s breathing became uneven, slowly looking back at the shadowy figure behind him.
‘Xornoth i-‘ ‘You’re not supposed to be out here.’ he got cut off.
‘I'm sorry i didn’t-‘ ‘what did I say would happen.’ They said in a cold, serious voice.
Realization hit, tears forming in his eyes ‘No please no- i’ll be better i promise- i won’t escape again- i swear please’.
‘Oh you won’t.’ They said, teleporting behind their brother, suddenly, Scott was thrown in the ground, foot and knee, laying all of Xornoths weight on him, not allowing him to move.
‘please Xornoth i won’t escape again please’ Scott felt hands grabbing onto his wings, then the hands moved further up, still holding tightly onto the wings. He tried to move, to scream, but he couldn’t, his voice was nowhere to be found, and Xornoth’s weight wasn’t letting him move. But then, his voice came back, and he screamed, he screamed his lungs out.
His wings...
Were they...
Broken...?
‘There, that way you’ll learn your lesson’ The older elf said ‘Next time you won’t be so lucky.’
⋯ ⋄ ❄ ⋄ ⋯
‘How are you feeling?’ Xornoth asked calmly, bringing Scott back to reality.
‘I'm sorry...’ Scorr murmured, staying still, laying in the same position Xornoth left him in while they were bandaging his wings.
They sat in silence for a while
‘You do know... that I'm doing this for your own good... right...?’ They asked their younger brother ‘I just want to keep you safe... you're my little brother after all...’
‘Yeah...’
‘I know...’
Xornoth gave him a warm smile ‘I care for you Scott... i really do... even if i'm... bad... at showing it’
‘Im sorry’ Scott apologized, voice cracking up ‘I won't do it again I swear’
‘Why don't you sit up...?’ The elf asked
‘It hurts’ he whispered, almost unhearable
‘What?’
‘It hurts'.’ He said louder
‘What hurts?’ Xornoth asked in a protective, even possessive voice
‘Everything’
Then it hit them, Scotts wings are huge, so they’re crucial for balance, his wings being broken meant unbalance and pain all across his back, and almost all his body. Scott tried to move so he could face Xornoth , but he winced after moving slightly, Xornoth took it as a sign to help him. Scott was now sitting, facing his brother.
‘Oh... im...’ they took a deep breath ‘im sorry’
Scott looked up at his brother’s apology ‘you don't have to apologize, i'm the one who tried to escape after all, even though i knew what the consequences were if i did’ the blue haired elf ranted ‘And even then, you didn't do what you said you would, you broke the bone, that’ll heal, you didn’t burn them or rip them off like you said you would’.
Shock filled Xornoth’s face, he didn’t... Scott didn’t hate them? ‘Why... I thought you’d hate me...’
‘I can’t’
‘What do you mean you can't?’ Scott looked at Xornoth with pain-filled eyes ‘Even if i wanted to hate you, i couldn’t, you...’ he chuckled softly ‘I guess I gaslighting myself into not hating you, “they’re your brother, dont be ungrateful”, “you’re just being dramatic”, all that stuff’.
Guilt took over Xornoth, but also... excitement? They were sad and guilty about Scott emotionally depedning on them, but that also made him feel... powerful? Happy? Proud even.
They sat in silence for a while.
‘Do you... uh.. want some tea?’ Xornoth asked, breaking the silence, Scott just nodded in return.

A month had already passed since the escape attempt, Scotts wings were recovering well but slowly, he could even walk now! With crutches, but it was something. He spent most of his time in the library, reading, mostly about flowers, as he’d been learning flower language, and he often made flower crowns and wore them or gave them to Xornoth. They loved how happy Scott looked while being around flowers, and they’d help build 3 flower gardens in Rivendell, for Peonies, Azure Bluet, and red poppies.
Scott had been going to the Royal Medic once a week to check how his wings were doing. The medic said that in a few weeks Scott would be able to walk by himself, and in around 5 months he could fly again!
So, everything was going great, Scott was safe with Xornoth in Rivendell, he was recovering, and they could be happy together! Like before, like always. Like its always been. And always will be. Always.
