Collared But Not Tamed :: Chapter Summaries + Information

Summary:

A separate work for things like chapter summaries, world information, scents, Second Selection ranking, etc. Not necessary to read, but a way to keep up with information.

Notes:

Summary for chapters 1 to 5. These are the main points of the chapters. Starting from chapter 6 forward, I'll post the original outlines plus the final changes since I think it's interesting how so much can change.

Chapter 1: Summary Chapters 1 - 5

Chapter Text

Chapter 1 - Invitation to Blue Lock Part 1

Isagi is giving the opening performance for a Classical Music Competition. His fans greet him eagerly, and he notes their increased enthusiasm (ahem, stalking) since it was his last year in the prestigious Regis Academy. He catches his reflection as he prepares to return home. Despite his teachers’ efforts to mold him into the perfect Omega, they could not dampen the silent power in his eyes.

The Mikage patriarch greets him after his mother's fussing. Isagi feels awkward when compared to Reo, and is relieved when his mother cuts in.

Isagi reflects on his life following his presentation at 10. He feels frustrated and envious of his fiance because he, as an Omega, was restricted from pursuing his passion in football. Then, he finds a letter from Blue Lock.

On Reo's end, he accepts the Blue Lock invitation on behalf of himself and his best friend Nagi. Currently, he's troubled because he has to marry his Omega fiance right after graduation–a subject that has led to many arguments with his parents. This is a huge factor in his poor view on Omegas, so much so that he doesn't even know what Isagi looks like (knows his name and title).

He sees Blue Lock as a chance to prove that football could be profitable and get his parents to listen to him.

Chapter 2 – Invitation to Blue Lock Part 2

Isagi is immediately recognized when he enters the Blue Lock meeting room. They use his title, Omega Prince.

Important information: Prime Omegas are rare and highly sought after. The Mikage's want to keep Isagi's status a secret so that they don't have to deal with anyone contesting their claim on Isagi. Only after a permanent marking could the information be revealed.

Permanent markings are strictly recommended for Prime Omegas. That’s because, as the name suggests, these marks cannot be reversed or removed even with death. If one partner dies, the other follows soon after as the mark begins to physically rot. (A sort of protection, but also a shackle)

Ego gives his little speech which gets Isagi's heart racing. His Omega football club did play with each other, but they lacked ambition. So used to being beaten down, they didn’t know how to fight for anything. That’s not what soccer is about. It’s not just a game. It’s Isagi's life. So, Isagi is the first to sprint forward.

In an unspecified location, the Isagi Yoichi Fan Foundation also gains a new resolve–to support Isagi so that he can “fly freely like a phoenix.”

Anri, a fan of Isagi, directs him to Stratum 5 where he meets the others in the same team. They act strange and say disrespectful, sexist things. Ego explains the tag game. The Oni: Igaguri Gurimu.

Reo of course passed the Tag game. He overheard that an Omega was invited to the program, but he showed no interest.

Chapter 3 – Tag Game and First Days

Igaguri struggles to tag someone. He tries to go for Bachira, but fails. He eventually sets his eyes on Isagi, but with 8 seconds on the clock, there was no chance. Isagi was going to let the ball fly by untouched but then Igaguri opened his big mouth. Isagi kicked the ball back at Igaguri for revenge, only for the Beta to duck. Kuon is eliminated.

During the training days, Isagi kept to himself. He didn't want to get along with sexist Alphas and Betas at all. That doesn't mean the others didn't try, especially Kira and Bachira.

On the final night, Isagi couldn't sleep. He ends up training with Bachira and listens to the Alpha talking about having a ‘monster.’ Isagi realizes that Bachira isn't like Kira. He looks at Isagi like an equal.

They get reranked and Isagi is now Rank 269. First Selection officially begins.

Reo nearly chokes to death when he realizes the Omega in the facility is his fiance.

Somewhere else, Sae decides to remain in Japan after hearing about Blue Lock. Specifically, the participation of a certain Omega.

Chapter 4 - Team Z vs Team X

After a game of rock-paper-scissors, Isagi chooses the forward position. This is met with resistance from the others until Kira steps in. Isagi feels stung when the Betas follow along Kira’s words when they discarded him so easily.

Team X and Team Z’s match is a struggle. There are 7 Alphas on Team X, and, just like Team Z, they looked down on Isagi. They were mocking him before the game even began. The only one who didn’t was the one leading the pack–the Prime Alpha Barou.

The game starts and chaos begins. Despite Isagi being the forward, Raichi tries to steal the ball from him. Then, Barou easily shows his domination over the field with his skill and makes the first goal of the game. The most frustrating thing to Isagi wasn’t the loss or disrespect, though. It was himself. His limited experience playing with anyone other than Omegas meant he never truly felt the pressure.

Not wanting to be held back by this, Isagi confronts Barou. He managed to steal the ball from the Prime, pass to Bachira, and take back a point. As Barou notes, though, he didn’t make that goal on his own. It was because of Barou’s own misjudgement.

The game continues with Kira being shut out as the largest threat in Team Z. After the break, Team Z covers Barou together instead of taking 1 on 1 battles with a bit of success. Barou manages to get through and breaks past Isagi to make another goal. Isagi makes the goal back due to Barou being effectively caged. Kira then steps up to say they just need two more goals to win the game as though he made the point.

Barou follows Isagi closely now. Compared to the rest, he begins to see the threat in the Omega. Unfortunately, he was the only one. Isagi manages to pass the ball again to Bachira who ties up the game.

The game continues. Isagi uses the chaos to slip away from Barou and gets the ball. However, he was stopped by 3 Alphas. Because the uniforms were only prototypes and all the sweating from running around, their scents were stronger than ever. With the sensitivity of a Prime Omega’s nose, it’s the same feeling as being run over by a truck. Isagi manages to break through with his own ego and–with Barou caging Bachira–passes the ball to a waiting Kira.

The Alphas on Team X claim foul, not happy with their loss. They are about to close in on Isagi. Fortunately, Ego interrupts and gives them a heavy warning. Barou also steps up and says his piece to Isagi.

Isagi feels a new resolve.

What was he afraid of? Why was he afraid? This fear was a parasite, draining his energy and leaving him vulnerable–useless.

If this was biology, then he'll personally rewire his DNA to his bidding.

If this was biology, then…

Isagi will evolve.

Reo, whose opinion of Isagi had raised slightly when he’d thought the Omega was a kindred spirit, dropped to the gutter at the rumors of Isagi using his wiles to win the game.

Chapter 5 - Interlude

Team Z has dinner together. Bachira gets a bit too close, his hand nearing Isagi’s glands, which is inappropriate. That was something only family or lovers can touch. Kira then butts in. The Alpha pheromones mess with Isagi’s already throbbing head and he snaps before storming off.

In bed, he falls into thought. It was an Omega’s instinct to submit, at least that’s what biology dictates. He thinks of the match with Barou and how confronting the Prime caused his instincts to go haywire. Additionally, he was affected negatively from the exposure to too many pheromones all at once. However, he wasn’t going to let this stop him. He wasn’t going to even entertain the idea of failing. He would succeed in becoming the best striker. That’s his ego.

Anri recalls going to watch Isagi play after having doubts on allowing an Omega to enter the program. She saw Isagi’s passion for football and was moved. While technology has improved to make professional sports much safer and more accessible, these changes were more so for Prime Alphas and Alphas to not kill each other on the field. Even now, nations were still wary of creating a subdivision for an Omega league. Isagi will have a difficult time going forward, but she wants to support him on his path.

Isagi has a bit of a confrontation with the Alpha from Team Z who had tried to attack him. An apology which meant absolutely nothing. This was then interrupted by a mysterious person.

He then joins Chigiri, Bachira, and Kunigami in the practice room. Unbeknownst to him, Chigiri’s thoughts are a mess. Previous to his arrival, Chigiri had listed some ‘common’ facts about the Omega which freaks Kunigami and Bachira out and lands him the title of ‘stalker’. After being in close contact with Isagi, Chigiri resolves to get to know Isagi and unveil his secrets. Of course, because his mind has been filled with Isagi’s presence for so long, he sees nothing abnormal about this.

Chapter Text

Chapter 6 - Team Z vs Team Y

Team Z gathers in the locker room to prepare for their match against Team Y. Kira decides they should try a new approach: a rotation from lowest to highest where everyone gets 10 minutes to play as striker with Isagi supporting as midfielder. Isagi speaks up, but is pushed down verbally by the other Betas who weren’t so convinced by his performance against Team X. Finally, Isagi agrees, but he’ll only pass to those who are necessary to win the game.

At the field, Team Y’s ace Okawa enters the field with a weak presence compared to Barou. The game starts and Isagi is effectively barred from entry by Niko, a Beta. Isagi’s frustrations rise when Team Y manages to trick Team Z up without anyone realizing and leaving space for Okawa to make a goal. When Niko makes some snarky comments about having better field vision, Isagi tells him to not get ahead of himself. He follows it up with a threat to rip Niko’s eyes out. The first half ends with [1-0].

In the locker room, the Betas are frustrated with their performance. Not to mention Isagi who was rendered ineffective. However,  Isagi coldly tells them he’ll take care of it.

The second half starts. Niko recalls how he studied Team Z’s match with Team X and realized the similarity in their playstyle. It’s just too bad that Isagi’s an Omega. More so, Isagi's opponent is him. Just as he thinks so, Isagi tells him that what he hates more than unruly Alphas are Betas who act outside their place. His flash of pheromones freeze Niko in place and Isagi bursts out to steal the ball. He kicks it to Kunigami who is outside of his range. At Kunigami’s hesitation, Isagi tells him to prove his worth. They make the goal. The score is [1-1].

They stayed equal for most of the game, but Isagi was confident that Team Y would try something. He was proven correct when they started pushing forward aggressively. Unfortunately for them, Isagi saw through their plan. He stole the ball, broke through their defense, and ran towards the goal. He wondered what the most logical decision was. If he shoots from this distance, he wouldn’t make it–but why not? Isagi kicks a curve shot and makes the winning goal.

Niko is sobbing on the floor when Isagi approaches him. He says that Isagi’s different. An Omega Devil. Isagi rides the high of winning the game and crushing the opponents, a feeling that follows him into the night. While reflecting in the bath, he’s embarrassed by what he said due to the influence of his Omega.

During the party, Bachira gets close to Isagi to show off their relationship. Jealousy causes the others to say insensitive things which Isagi expected but still bothers him to hear. He leaves to clear his head and meets someone in the cafeteria.

Bachira waits in front of Isagi’s room. He usually doesn’t care what others think, but he hates the idea of hurting Isagi. Isagi was his first real friend. He didn’t want to lose him. So, if that means changing, then he’ll do it…

Meanwhile, the Isagi Yoichi Fan Foundation receives some orders. The head isn’t pleased but decides to trust their judgement.

Chapter 7 - Team Z vs Team W

Isagi decides to stop by the monitoring room for something to do since he wasn’t feeling tired. There, he finds Chigiri who looks like he’s been watching videos for some time now. Upon Chigiri’s invitation, Isagi enters despite his reservations after discovering the pink-haired Alpha’s intense observation.

Isagi watched his winning goal with disbelief. It was hard to believe that was him. Chigiri then starts speaking. He corners Isagi into the wall, eyes absent even as he talks about figuring Isagi out and the reason he wants to give up on football. Chigiri finally lets Isagi go after thanking the Omega for giving him a reason. Isagi grabs the chair as he gives up distressed pheromones. Chigiri seems confused and calms him down with his scent. Isagi snaps and calls him a coward. He can forgive the overstep, but he won’t forgive Chigiri’s lack of resolve.

In the monitor room, Anri is trying to find the button to electrocute the Alpha and failing. Ego remains unruffled. He says that this was good because it gave Isagi new resolve not to fall into the same gutlessness.

Isagi returns to his room only to get bowled over by Bachira. The Alpha is acting strangely, a bit more cautious about his distance with Isagi. His palm was injured from clenching his fists earlier. Seeing this, Isagi invites Bachira to his room to patch up the wounds. After Bachira pulls back again, Isagi finally pushes the Alpha to tell him what’s going on. He tells Bachira not to worry about what others think. Isagi liked him for who he was, and he wasn’t going to stop being friends with Bachira just because of others’ opinions.

A few days later, the team scores are revealed as well as new rankings. Tied at the top are Team V and Z with 6 points while Team W and Team Y tied with 3 points. Team X had 0 points. Additionally, Isagi was bumped up to Rank 265. Chigiri was 274.

In the cafeteria, Isagi is annoyed that Kira decided not to watch the match between Team V and W because it might demoralize the others. Kunigami praises him for his insight and ability to read the field like a book. He, along with Bachira, ask Isagi why he doesn’t lead Team Z instead since he’s now the highest rank. However, upon consideration, Isagi decides he doesn’t want that burden. With Kunigami’s words clearing up some things for him, he goes off to practice. Bachira and Kunigami follow.

The day of the match comes soon enough. The Wanima brothers were only Betas, but they played like they could read each other’s minds. Their quick passes let them break through the defense. They recognize Chigiri and bring up his past trauma to break him. Isagi cuts in, tripping one of the brothers and sending the ball to Bachira. As the Alpha scores a point, Isagi finally gives Chigiri a piece of his mind. He steps on Chigiri’s knee, the one whose ACL had been torn, and gives a warning. “Watch your back. If you’re the reason we lose the game today, I will personally end your football career .”

The brothers make another point, but Gin is able to take one back leaving them tied once more. Kira tells Isagi that he spotted a weakness in Team W’s right wing. Isagi’s response was that it didn’t matter as long as Kunigami made the point. He is proven right when the Alpha scores from outside his strike zone.

By the final 10 minutes, the Wanima brothers made 2 more points. The score was now at [3-4]. Despite Team Z’s attempts to split the brothers up, they still broke through. They were a lot more trouble than they first appeared. Chigiri especially was feeling the heat. The brothers were constantly mocking him at every corner. In the game, he was nothing–but no. That’s not right. The hesitation and doubt, he didn’t need it. Chigiri finally breaks the chains holding him down. Up in the field, the others are confused when Isagi suddenly passes to an empty field. In the next second, Chigiri was there to receive the pass and make a goal.

It was a tie: [4-4]. They were head to head, point for point, but Isagi couldn't help the strange feeling–like they should have won. That's when he realized. Kira. He was on the field, wasn't he? Since when was his presence suppressed so much that even Gin surpassed him? Isagi looks at Kira who contributed nothing to the game and realizes the Alpha is unnecessary for victory.

Later that evening, we discover that the mysterious person Isagi has been meeting was Barou. Isagi banters playfully while Barou seems embarrassed when the Omega calls them friends.

Afterwards, Isagi gets a nightly visitor, Chigiri who apologizes for what happened in the monitoring room. The Alpha then states his new resolve. “Until these legs give out, until every bone breaks in my body, I'll continue playing. I won't stop… until I crush you beneath my heel.” Isagi feels a newfound respect for the Alpha. As for Chigiri, he decides that he will uncover Isagi’s secrets to himself.

Nagi has a growing suspicion. There’s something going on with the Omega in the program. After all, Reo has paid special attention to said Omega despite trying to hide it. He had wanted to search this Omega Prince up online, but the others returned before he could.

Points made in Team Z thus far:

Isagi–2

Bachira–3

Kunigami–2

Gin–1

Chigiri–1

Kira–1

Chapter 8 - Final Match Prep

  • Add other scenes–extend the flashback scene + at the end of the chapter, add Reo's own perspective versus Nagi’s
    • Change: put Reo's perspective first, and then Nagi's last.
  • Kunigami, Bachira, Isagi practicing when Chigiri joins–this time, he plays with them
  • The scene between Barou and Nagi’s team is mostly fine(?). Minor changes are preferred.
  • The scene in the monitor room is okay. Minor changes are preferred (Maybe just the Betas?).
    • The Betas make plans with Iemon eventually leading the conversation. He proposes that since ego has brought them this far, they should focus on that for the final game. Ego and Anri are listening in with Ego having the time of his life.
  • Finally, Kira and Isagi have a conversation. Since it's the last match where winning doesn't matter, Isagi finally speaks candidly with Kira about his true feelings. Kira doesn’t react well, only to be stopped by Nagi. Finally, they meet with Team V.
  • Reo’s point of view. He knew it was Isagi at first sight. There’s no other option of who he was, and the image was burned into his retinas that even with only a single glance, Reo couldn’t forget it. But as expected, the Omega was only looks. Here he was, seducing Alphas left and right. He didn’t want to believe the rumors. Everyone always spoke highly of the Prince even if Reo barely paid it any mind, but now. He knew for sure.
    • Isagi Yoichi was inadequate.
    • Isagi asks Barou to train with him using the full brunt of his pheromones. It was the hardest trial of his life.
  • They have a conversation, if it could be called that, and Barou tells Isagi to destroy Team V. (Find a way to make this sound cooler and in-character)
    • “Beat those vermin to the ground.” “For you?” “No, peasant, for you. Why the hell would you win for anyone else?”

Chapter 9 - Team Z vs Team V

  • Because Team Z won 2 games and tied 1 (with Team W), they are set to pass. The strategy is basically an all out war zone where they treat each other as obstacles. Everyone will maximize their own weapons while taking advantage of their own teammates.
  • Team Z pushes offensively. The ball gets stolen by Chigiri who had sped up ahead, but Zantetsu caught up and blocked the ball. Reo then tries it with Nagi who shows his trapping skills and gets a point. Reo makes some snide comments, talking about Nagi as his treasure.
    • They make another score using the same trick which gets Isagi heated. What were the defenders doing? Was this really the best they could do?
    • Reo steals the ball from Bachira and passes it to Zantetsu who makes a goal.
  • While Isagi is heaving, staring at the glaring [3-0] on the screen, Reo says that he’s the better player because he doesn’t have to rely on underhanded tricks to win the game.
  • Kira is getting frustrated because of the chaos. He doesn't understand why the others are playing like this and aren't listening to him. He confronts Isagi about it, and the Omega gives him a glare lethal enough to kill a man.
    • “Don’t you remember what I said? I’ll only pass to those who are essential to winning. You haven’t shown me once in this match that you’re needed.”
  • Bachira makes a super special solo-goal, all by himself without Isagi, and fires the others up again.
  • “Even though you suck, you’re still trying so hard. Why? Isn’t that a waste of effort?” Why waste time when Team Z can just forfeit and give Nagi more time to play games?
  • Half-time. The real game starts here.
    • Talking, saying that teamwork wasn't doing anything and they would lose at this rate.
    • Bachira's goal as proof of the effectiveness of pursuing ego.
  • Isagi’s resolve:
    • “Raichi, mark Reo. Make sure that pompous prick doesn’t get the ball to fool’s gold over there.”
    • “Are you ordering me around!? The hell you think you are!?”
    • Pressure. “Your betters. Now be a good dog while I’m being nice.”
    • “Tsk… Whatever. Psycho bitch…”
  • Reo is suppressed. Bachira passes to Kunigami who goes beyond his limits and makes a goal from 40m.
  • Isagi pushes forward, ready to make a goal. However, he feels a heavy presence that causes his path to falter. Nagi gets the ball, tossing it over to Reo. He then gets on Isagi’s case, wondering why he’s fighting so hard. Why does he keep trying? There’s no hope in a useless dream.
    • Didn’t happen:
      • “Shut up, mongrel. It’s getting to the good part.”
      • Ego: Finally! Some good fucking food!
  • Thinking, thinking, thinking! Nagi was right, he was wasting his time. These pesky instincts were getting in his way. Useless, unnecessary, unprofitable.
  • Reo gets angry and elbows Raichi, earning him a yellow card.
  • Nagi’s ego awakens at the most inopportune time. He manages to cross the field, getting a goal.
  • Team Z gets concerned when Raichi surprises them all with his outburst of his efforts being wasted. He then says he was doing his job of holding the fort midfield. Isagi’s eyes widened and he looked at the Beta who resolutely refused to meet his eye.
    • “Hah! Good boy.”
    • “... What just happened?”
  • Nagi gets blocked from stopping Chigiri, accidentally toppling the Omega over. The distraction allowed Team Z to somehow get a goal, tying up the game again.
    • Nagi feels guilty when he sees blood coming from Isagi’s temple, but he is interrupted from checking on the Omega by Team Z. They all crowd Isagi, and hostilities rise.
    • Isagi says he’s fine and tells the others to get back into the game. One of them mentioned they just have to defend. However, Isagi shows his ego by saying he won’t be satisfied with a tie–he wants a win.
  • It’s an intense final 3 minutes. Isagi finds himself blocked by Reo of all people. The Prime Alpha starts talking bullshit about his dream, about his treasure, the cage of this engagement and being tied down to Isagi who had somehow tricked the world.
    • “This is as far as you can go.”
    • “I don’t care.”
    • “What?”
    • “Move out the way. Right now, you’re just a stepping stone to my evolution.”
    • Reo’s physique was stronger, and Nagi appeared to assist. Two Prime Alphas. A bit overkill, right? Their pheromones were enough to get the field rattling. Isagi faltered in his step.
    • “See? When faced with an Alpha, you Omegas are–.”
    • “I said to shut up.” Pressure. It was only for a brief second, but it was enough for Isagi to slip through. They were hot on his trail. That’s right. Stay behind him where they belonged.
    • “Isagi-chan! Go!”
  • Don’t think. It’s not a fluke, it’s not a miracle. Kick.
  • 7-6. Team Z wins.
  • Reo gulps, feeling a burning sensation. What was this feeling? What was that? Is this what a Prime Omega was like?
    • He turns to see Nagi whose eyes were glued to Isagi.
    • The Omega didn’t turn to look at them, not once.

Chapter 10 - Con(front)versation

  • Celebration for Team Z
  • They then see who passed the first selection:
  1. Team V and Team Z
  2. Team W’s Wanima - 6
  3. Team X’s Barou - 10
  4. Team Y’s Niko - 4
  • Didn’t happen: Isagi goes to get water followed by Bachira. They run into the losing teams, seeing their crying faces. Ikki Niko appears suddenly, saying that he will get his revenge on Isagi. Then, Reo appears and drags Isagi away. Bachira tries to follow, but Isagi tells him to bring the water to the others.
    • Isagi wasn’t at the party because he was taking a bath. When the others found out, and also realized that Bachira got a head start, they started rioting. Kira gets the bad end of Bachira’s ire because he passed by when Isagi was leaving the bathroom. Isagi leaves the chaos as he leaves to the cafeteria.
    • There, he sees the fallen players leaving. He also talks to Niko who managed to become the top scorer and remain. He challenges the Beta in his own way. This was too much for Niko who ran off flustered. Reo saw all this.
  • Isagi didn’t want to talk to Reo, to see Reo, to interact with Reo, but he knew he had to get this over with.
  • Reo looks nervous and uncertain. He officially introduces himself and says that he misjudged Isagi. Now, he sees that Isagi takes soccer seriously. Perhaps this arrangement can work out–.
    • Important stuff to add!!!
      • “You have to be careful of how you act.”
      • “It'll be bad if it gets out that the Mikage heir’s fiance is a person with loose morals.”
      • “I get you want to do everything you can to stay on the program, but really…”
      • “What Alpha would be happy with their fiance flirting and messing around with others?”
      • “Also, you're not doing a great job of hiding. At this rate, everyone will find out you're a, you know…”
      • “You owe my family this at least.”
  • Isagi is nothing but repulsed. He had resented Reo for a long time now, and this was pushing him over the edge. He tells Reo that they will get married as the contract stipulated, but until then, Isagi didn’t want anything to do with the Alpha.
    • “You didn't choose me, but Reo… if it was up to me, I would never choose you.”
    • Didn't happen:
      • And tell your ‘treasure’ to stay away from me, too.”
      • “What? Nagi? Is he bothering you?”
      • “Has been. I’m not interested in disobedient mutts.”
      • Reo… doesn't understand what he did wrong.
  • Isagi makes the phone call. When he finishes, he has a strange expression on his face. Perturbed? Disbelief? Hope?
  • Ego’s announcement about the second selection and the 10-day wait period.

How the points were used:

Isagi 3 (phone)

Bachira 5 (saved for Jenga tower)

Kunigami 2 (always cashes in for steak immediately)

Chigiri 2 (1 for massage before; using for steak and another massage)

Kira 1 (Steak; to think he thought he'd get enough points for a bed; thinking about Isagi, about the match, about the team, about the Second Selection)

Barou 10 (day off BLLK - went to bowl and ended up picking a fight with some bastards who were disparaging Isagi - given a business card by some sketchy looking people in black - “Is that donkey Yakuza???”)
