Chapter Text

The skies above Megapolis had never looked so strange.

Clouds churned in slow spirals, unnaturally tinted with blue and white light. An eerie silence settled over the city—just for a moment.

Then, every screen flickered.

Phones, billboards, news drones, tablets—everything.

A figure appeared.

Bai Lu smiled directly into the camera. His voice rang across the entire city. “Hello there, citizens of the Megapolis. You humans have ruled this world long enough. You cast us into the shadows. You mocked us, feared us. That ends today.”

"For too long, we've hidden what we are. Demons, spirits—we are not your monsters. We are your betters. And now, with the power we've claimed, we will reshape this world."

The camera panned to reveal the massive cylindrical chi tank, pulsing with swirling blue light.

"The children you mourned? They served a greater purpose. This is not conquest—this is evolution.” Bai Lu continued.

The whole city's citizens were confused, shocked, worried, staring at their screens with mouths agape.

“The acting mayor?”

“Oh no, my son!”

“What're they talking about?”

The camera zoomed in on a big red button. Vivian's voice rang out. “Ooh~ I wonder what this button does.”

“Wait, so I press it?”

“Yes yes, do what you must.” Bai Lu said exasperatedly.

“You sure you don't want to be the one to do it?”

“Just press the button already!”

“Ok!” Vivian's hand smashed down onto that red button.

A shockwave of chi rippled through the entire Megapolis. The energy released creeping into every alley, every nook and cranny of the city, locating all the demons that were hidden away.

The demons now powered up, all crawled out from their hiding spots, eyes twitching and glowing red, hungry for violence.

In seconds, the city descended into chaos.

They pounced on cars, tore through shop windows, and roared into the streets, attacking everything in sight.

Pedestrians screamed and scattered. Some ran as fast as they could, sprinting, dodging traffic and avoiding debris; while some were frozen still at their spots, paralyzed by the nightmare unfolding in front of them.

Back inside Pigsy's Noodles

Sounds of glass shattering, explosions, chaos in general could be heard from outside.

Mei and MK poked their heads out of the door to check just how horrible the situation was. They ended up locking eyes with a demon’s eyes glowed and it immediately lunged at them.

They immediately slammed the door back shut and pressed their backs against the door.

Thud!

The demon's face smashed against the door. It began clawing and pushing, trying to open the door by force.

“Yep. Definitely horrible,” MK panted, bracing the door.

Mei only nodded, eyes wide with panic.

“The Megapolis isn’t safe anymore,” Crimson said firmly. “We need to leave. Now.”

Pigsy slammed his ladle down on the counter. “And how exactly are we supposed to do that—with a literal apocalypse outside?!”

All eyes immediately landed on the Macaque.

Macaque raised an eyebrow. “What?”

“Can't you do that shadow portal thingy?” MK asked, voice strained as he shoved his shoulder against the door.

Mei nodded, putting even more of her weight to keep the demon from busting the door open. “Yeah! Teleport us to Flower Fruit Mountain or something!”

Macaque sighed exasperatedly. “So you're all just gonna stare at me like I'm some taxi? Tang has that khakkhara too.”

That reminded Tang of that, he summoned his khakkhara. “Oh yeah. I sometimes forget I had that.”

With one final push, the demon successfully broke the door open, making MK and Mei stumble onto the floor.

Everyone screamed. In the chaos, Tang slammed his khakkhara to the floor—light engulfed him, MK, Mei, and Pigsy, pulling them out of the noodle shop just as the demon lunged.

At the same time, shadows burst open beneath Sandy and Crimson. Macaque’s voice echoed, low and steady: “I’ll cover the rest.” The three sank into the darkness.

They all reappeared on Flower Fruit Mountain in front of Wukong's house

Mei staggered upright, blinking. “Huh, that worked.”

Monkey King stepped out, tail flicking, eyes sharp. MK immediately sprang up, worry written all over his face, the panic in his voice clearer than day. “Monkey King! Th- the city! It’s- it’s bad...like, really bad!”

Wukong’s ears twitched. “Woah, slow down, kid.”

“No, I can’t slow down! There are demons- everywhere! Like- like, Bai Lu and Vivian, they... they had this huge tank thing full of chi, and then they pressed this big stupid red button and boom! It exploded, and now every yaoguai in Megapolis is juiced up and tearing the place apart!”

MK’s words tumbled out so fast he nearly tripped over them. He waved his hands around, trying to explain and point at the same time. “Cars, exploding, people screaming, we almost got mauled at Pigsy’s, Tang had to teleport half of us, Macaque shadow-ported the rest, and Black Tail...Black Tail’s with them! She helped them-”

He stopped only because he ran out of breath, clutching his knees and gasping.

Wukong’s expression darkened, the faintest flicker of concern behind his eyes. “...Alright. Start from the top. Slowly this time. But let's head inside first.”

Inside Wukong's house, MK relayed everything that happened in the Megapolis, a bit calmer this time, just a bit.

Wukong's brows furrowed, disdain creeping up onto his expression. “I had a feeling it's them, they had some weird thing with children going on with them.”

Pigsy, who had been quiet the whole time, spoke up. “So what's the plan? We can't just sit here while disaster unfolds.”

The whole room fell into thoughtful silence.

Crimson's brows furrowed as the gears turned in her head. “Right now, the city is rampaging with demons, children are trapped somewhere and of course, Bai Lu and Vivian… three problems.”

“Three problems…” MK echoed, his eyes widening. Slowly, determination replaced the panic on his face. “Wait—that’s it! There’s enough of us to split up. We can take on all three at once!”

“Sandy, Mei and Crimson— you three will handle the demons.”

The three exchanged glances before nodding in unison, determination flashing in their eyes. Mei stood up, whipping out her sword with a grin. “Yeah! Time to kick demon butt!”

“Pigsy, Tang— you two will free the children.” MK continued. “And as for me… Bai Lu and Vivian are mine.”

The room fell silent.

“Hang on, you're not going alone, I'm coming along.” Macaque cut in sharply. Everyone could swear they saw a flicker of concern in his eyes.

Before MK could argue, Wukong finally spoke up, his tail flicking. “Good. Because you’re both going to need each other. And I’ll be right behind you.”

Mei raised her sword. “Now what're we waiting for? Let's go!”

“Yeah!” Everyone cheered in unison.

As the group charged off to prepare, further away in the underground facilities of Bai Lu and Vivian's lair…

Black Tail stood before a shattered mirror, staff in her hand. Her cracked reflection stared back at her, fractured but still whole. Her expression hardened with hesitance, her shoulders rose as she inhaled sharply. The glass crunched under her shoes as she took a slow step back. She gripped her staff tighter, then turned, her steps steady as she walked toward where Bai Lu and Vivian waited.

Meanwhile, back in Megapolis, silence was the last thing anyone could find. Screams filled the air, demons prowled the streets, and cars lay overturned in the chaos.

“This… is much worse than when we left,” Sandy muttered, scanning the destruction.

“Where do you think Bai Lu and Vivian could be?” Tang asked.

“Simple. Just look for the world's biggest, ugliest nightlight, like over there!” Mei gestured to the giant glowing tank in the distance.

After that, she bolted to the first demon she laid eyes on, sword in her hand in standby. Crimson gestured for Sandy to follow. “C'mon, let's go!”

“What about the kids?” Pigsy asked.

“Alley next to the creepy toy shop—hidden door in the bricks! You’ll see it!” And before either Pigsy or Tang could react, he was already on his cloud, darting into the sky.

“Hey!– you better not die out there!” Pigsy exclaimed, a pinch of concern hidden underneath his annoyed exterior.

Tang adjusted his glasses. “Looks like we've got no time to waste.”

And with that, everyone sprung into action.

On Mei’s side, a demon lunged at her—but before it could land a hit, a shimmering shield burst into existence. Crimson stood firm, hands glowing.

“Great timing, Crimson.”

Crimson waved a hand, a smile on her face. “Just a little magical shield, nothing much.”

Sandy on the other hand was trying to help as many pedestrians into safety as possible; some were shielded behind him while some were hidden away in places where the demons couldn't reach.

Another demon tried to attack Mei and Crimson from behind but Mei quickly blasted it with a green beam of light from her sword. “Take that!” She wiped the sweat off her brow. “Phew, that was a close one.”

“You doing ok there, Sandy?” Crimson yelled out.

“Yep! All good.” Sandy answered from a distance, trying to fend off a demon with two pedestrians behind him.

Meanwhile, in the underground facility,

Tang shuddered, sticking as close as he could to Pigsy. Instead of the giant chi tank, the place is now dimly lit with torches of white fire on the walls, the very same ones from the dungeon. “O-okay, nope, I don’t like this. This is bad déjà vu…”

Pigsy sighed. “It's just a little dark, quit shaking like a leaf.” he gestured towards the rest of the place only for his words to die in his throat as soon as he laid eyes on the endless amount of cages, each having one or two children laying motionless and weak inside.

Tang quickly rushed to the nearest cage, gripping the bars. “C'mon, Pigsy! We gotta help them!”

Pigsy ran over to his side, tugging and pulling at the door of the cage, it didn't budge. Of course, it's locked.

He turned to look at Tang. “You know how to pick locks?”

“What?! I'm a scholar, not a burglar! Do I look like I know how to pick locks?!” Tang yelped.

Cutting to MK's side, the city blurred past below him as he flew towards the giant glowing tank. He landed not too far from it. Right after MK stepped foot on the ground, Macaque emerged from his shadow, arms crossed.

Bai Lu strutted out from behind the tank, with Vivian cackling next to him. “Well well well, look who finally arrived. Took you long enough. And I see you brought… someone too.” Bai Lu gestured at Macaque.

Vivian leaned in with a grin. “Aw, you didn’t tell us we’d be having guests.”

Macaque smirks. “Yeah, well, surprise. Try not to get too excited—I’m not here for the hospitality.”

White foxfire curled around Vivian's fingers. “Hospitality? Who said anything about that?”

MK clutched his staff tighter, his shoulders tensing. “You think this is some kind of game?! People are getting hurt!”

Bai Lu scoffed. “The people are not of our concern. The only thing that matters to us is our success.”

“And we're not letting some boy with a stick– get in our way!” Vivian added.

Vivian’s grin widened– In a blink, she was right in front of MK, foxfire curling around her fist.

MK barely had time to even gasp before she swung.

Clang!

Shadows rippled outward. Macaque had stepped in front, intercepting the blow with his staff. “Stay focused kid, she's faster than she looks.” With a twist of his wrist, he pushed Vivian back, planting himself firmly between her and MK.

“Oh Vivian,” Bai Lu's voice rang out from behind. “Don't hog all the fun to yourself.”

MK turned around, barely just in time to witness Bai Lu lunge at him. The impact knocked the air out of his lungs as he tumbled into his back. He gripped his staff with both of his hands as he tried to push Bai Lu off.

“Honestly, I expected a bit more fight in you, Monkie Kid.” Bai Lu mocked, a wide grin spread across his face.

With a raw grunt, he shoved upwards, twisting his body and kicking Bai Lu off. He scrambled back onto his feet, shoulders rising and falling as he caught his breath.

Macaque huffed. “When is Wukong going to be here?”

As if on cue— “Aw, you guys started without me?” Wukong's voice rang out from a distance.

They all whipped their heads around, and there he was, flying towards them on his cloud. He hopped off once he got close, and casually booted Vivian square between the shoulders with his foot before touching the ground.

“Oof!” Vivian's face planted onto the ground.

Macaque rolled his eyes. “You're late.”

Wukong crossed his arms, a smirk plastered on his face. “Nah, you two are just early.”

Vivian lifted her head– glaring up at Wukong with a scowl. Then, she crawled back up, hand rubbing the sore spot on her back, a finger pointed at him. “You… filthy!–”

Before she could spit out another word, Bai Lu's voice cut through, sharp. “Sun Wukong… it's certainly been a while.”

Wukong turned his attention towards Bai Lu. His grin faded by a fraction of an inch. “The white deer spirit! Nice to see you're trying to make a comeback.” The same light and casual tone carried his words, but there was a buried pinch of disdain that everyone could hear.

Vivian huffed behind Wukong, she straightened her shoulders. “You filthy monkey! I'll rip your smug face off!”

Wukong turned his head around, raising an eyebrow. A short pause. “Ah, you must be the white… What spirit again? Uh… Cat? Rabbit? No? Hm.”

“The white vixen spirit!” Vivian yelled.

“Oh! I remember now. Aren't you supposed to be dead or something?”

Vivian's eye twitched, fingers curling into a fist.

“It was a painful and long revival.” Bai Lu said, pinching the bridge of his nose.

Macaque and MK stood frozen, eyes darting between the three. It was almost awkward for them.

“Uh, how about we argue after this entire thing is over?” MK spoke up.

They turned their heads towards MK. Bai Lu and Vivian shared glances, grins spreading across their faces. A beat later, they lunged at MK.

MK's shoulders tensed, his grip on his staff tightened. “Ok– I take that back!”

He raised his staff, blocking their fists before it could touch him, ankles strained as he tried to remain standing. With a twist of his body, he pushed them back.

MK stumbled back, catching his breath, staff at the ready but eyes darting nervously between the two veterans.

Bai Lu’s eyes flicked past MK, locking onto Wukong instead. Then, charged at him.

Wukong shifted his stance, blocking Bai Lu's fists with his own with a grunt. The ground cracked beneath them.

“Not bad, for a deer.” Wukong remarked, voice slightly strained.

“Tch, you've gotten soft.” Bai Lu shot back.

Vivian leaped, claws raised, foxfire sparking around her arm, ready to strike Wukong from behind.

Clang!

The crack of impact echoed. Macaque stepped in once again, shadows rippled as his staff collided with her claws. “Eyes on me, fox.” He spun his staff around, then swung it at the side of her torso, sending her flying for a few feet.

Vivian tumbled, she slid back on her heels, claws digging into the pavement to steady herself, an arm clutching the spot that was hit. “That wasn't very nice…” she growled under her breath.

For a split second, Vivian's eyes darted to MK behind her. Suddenly—she grinned. With a snap of her fingers, white, large spots pulsed beneath their feet before white spirits crawled out.

MK staggered back as one of them reached its arm out towards him as it crawled. When he looked back up, there were at least a dozen of white spirits, all of their attention locked onto him. MK's stomach dropped. Vivian's aiming for him.

Aaandd that's pretty much it, I gave up writing the full thing. But the ending should go like this, Bai Lu and Vivian would be kinda cornered and when Bai Lu goes "where's that fox when we need her?" Black Tail would swoop in like "right here, bozo." And bam! Hits Bai Lu with her staff and stun him for a bit. Then insert epic fight scene and then cue Black Tail destroying the tank.

While fighting, apparently Black Tail swiped the keys for the cages that had children and she frees them, the previous child will kinda be like "ooh, she's my hero :0" and then afterwards it's a slice of life kind of shit and the girl is now a child Black Tail needs to babysit because her parents went "my daughter likes that fox girl... Great! Let's just shove her and some money into the fox girl's hands then run off without waiting for her to agree with this." And the girl's name is Yi Lan btw.

Notes:

I lost motivation at the very end I'm so sorry ; - ; I might try to continue if I feel like it tho and who knows I might edit this chapter to make it actually complete! Though I feel that it's unlikely
