Bite to The Pomegranate (Or It’s a Peach?)

Summary:

Being a vampire hunter was never his first career of choice when he was growing up. Wukong knows very well that he has always been athletic while also just smart enough to get by. He knew very well that he could be anything he wanted if he tried hard enough.

And yet here he is right now. Inside of an abandoned building at the peak of night. With moonlight peeking from the tall window that has a lot of cracks and dust. Spider webs were decorating about every piece of furniture that was still inside of the abandoned building itself.

Wukong looked around, bringing his gun closer to his chest, trying to assess the situation.

“It’s too quiet here, I don’t like it.” Someone said, the tone was sharp and serious.

Or: Vampire Hunter!AU with Wukong as the hunter and Macaque as the vampire, hiding secret relationships while surviving in the world where they would always eventually meet in the middle of battle.

Notes:

Hi! I was thinking about this the other day and thought "Fuck it we ball let's write this up and be hell with the plot!" thus this abomination was done in record time (within a day, more or less)

Just so you guys know, this fic was first and foremost just me messing around with scenario rather than actually building up any proper plot. So pardon me if you realize there's basically a huge block of emptiness in the grand scheme of things within the world itself.

(IMPORTANT PLS READ BEFORE PROCEEDING) And another thing to note: Wukong and Macaque is still a demon monkey here, Macaque just happened to be a vampire on top of that. Treat this as a no brainer situation or like zombie parasite in which people that get bitten affected and start to crave blood instead of normal food. Actually: don't think too much about it ehe.

I hope you enjoy it!

Work Text:

Being a vampire hunter was never his first career of choice when he was growing up. Wukong knows very well that he has always been athletic while also just smart enough to get by. He knew very well that he could be anything he wanted if he tried hard enough.

Bringing justice to the world is all fun and great, as someone that kills the vampire. But then again, he might as well go for a guard if he wanted to do a more general type of justice. That way he can even rank up to the top and maybe have his own platoon to take care of, or even a whole army.

He honestly would like it more to become an adventurer, that has the most versatile jobdesk to keep him from being bored while also having all the possibility to explore the world.

And yet here he is right now. Inside of an abandoned building at the peak of night. With moonlight peeking from the tall window that has a lot of cracks and dust. Spider webs were decorating about every piece of furniture that was still inside of the abandoned building itself.

There were reports from the nearby village regarding sightseeing of possible vampires- or even a pack of them hunting around the area. Children were missing and so were a couple of adults, most of whom were loners. Which makes it harder to track when exactly this all started, and without any exact timeframe they could be dealing with a medium scale extermination. Or worse, finding an already powered up vampire.

The one that not only already has the enhanced physical strength as well as regeneration, but also has the power to turn humans to become vampires as well.

Which means they will forever become the enhanced vampire’s slaves for as long as the master lives.

Wukong looked around, bringing his gun closer to his chest, trying to assess the situation.

“It’s too quiet here, I don’t like it.” Someone said, the tone was sharp and serious.

Nezha had always been a stick in the mud, even when he was inside of an abandoned building armed with a couple of guns, he sounded like someone that should serve in the army with his precise walk and rigid posture. But Wukong guessed they are all having their own reasons for joining the vampire extermination unit instead of their own dreams.

Eh, he digress.

“Should we just call it a day? Seems like they already moved somewhere else.” Wukong said half jokingly. Nezha was quick to shoot him a glare, which was a bad move on his part because that only fuelled Wukong’s own humor. “What? You said it yourself, the place was quiet. We should get back to Erlang and get back to the village.”

“And? What are you gonna say to the people there? That you’re too bored to check around the area despite so many people missing?” Nezha shot back, but now he was back at his overly alert pose. The guy seemed like he would keel over if he didn’t follow the rule of conduct for more than a few seconds. Wukong honestly couldn’t relate.

Instead, Wukong chuckled it away as he waved his hand in front of the overly serious guy, making him all puffed up like an angry guard dog. “Nah, it wasn’t like that, Shidi. I think you’re right about this place being too quiet. In fact, I think it’s not just too quiet, but instead it was too empty.”

That caught Nezha’s attention, if that is what the deep frown actually meant. The black haired baby face guy was quick to walk toward the exit, Wukong right behind him walking just as fast. Now slipping into his serious expression.

Because if the vampires weren't really where the villager told them it would be, then it’s only normal to assume that if they did exist, then they would go somewhere else.

Notably, the village.

“Erlang, the building is all clear. It’s too quiet here.” Wukong said, a grin still plastered in his face while he said so. But Erlang just looked at him and nodded, it was always so easy to let him understand what Wukong was saying. Which is both great and also a little bit boring because he cannot really get a reaction from the guy.

But no matter, because now they are all full blown running back toward the village.

“Did you see anything suspicious?” Nezha asked, he was running right beside Erlang Shen, while Wukong was running slightly behind them. Making sure if there was no one tailing them, eyes focused on detecting anything amidst them to avoid any ambush.

Erlang clicked his tongue, from the sound of it, their situation has become infinitely worse than imagined.

“I see them, it is a group of vampires.” He said, tone gone cold void from any emotions. Wukong could see how Nezha’s overall posture became even more serious than he already was. Wukong unconsciously held onto his gun tighter than necessary.

“They really baited us good, eh.” Wukong slightly chuckled, he could now see the outline of the village. As well as the smoke puffing up the night sky from all the fire that had been consuming some of the buildings.

Nezha seemingly troubled by the sight, “... It’s our fault. If only one of us would stay at least-”

“Save it for later, Nezha.” Erlang cut him, he was already pulling up his own gun. Erlang then looks at both Wukong and Nezha, “We scatter and eliminate all of the vampires first. The rest will come later.”

Wukong and Nezha both nodded their heads. As soon as they arrived at the village they immediately scattered and Wukong took the left area while Nezha covered the right area, Erlang would take the middle while overseeing everything. This has always been their go to strategy in a wide ranged mission.

Most other teams would likely wish they had more personnel in their team, especially in facing a group of highly skilled vampires. In general, that would be preferred. But then again, Wukong is anything but general or normal for that matter.

He loves the rush of the moment. Having one or a couple strong opponents is far more exhilarating than just wishing for a boring one sided extermination mission. This way, he could go all out while smashing all of these assholes to pieces.

“Some fast little chimp, you are, Monkey!” The Bull looking vampires screamed at him, seemingly also excited for the fight.

He was one of those bulk bodies built with heavy attack, The Bull was quicker than Wukong would have anticipated. He kept dodging the bullets and Wukong should've been concerned about wasting too much on his ammunition. They keep going back and forth between attacking and defending, with The Bull occasionally ripping off parts of the building to throw his way.

Wukong grinned at him, dodging another one of The Bull’s heavy hand swings, pivoting on his feet to surge forward and land a hit to the guy’s jaw. It was a clean one, Wukong could feel the satisfying flesh smashing on his knuckle. The Bull, the vampire that he was fighting, staggered at the punch, seemingly shocked by the power.

This was the perfect chance to shoot, so Wukong took his gun quickly and aimed.

“It was a nice match, Bull.”

Before he could shoot the vampire, he could feel some sort of darkness pooling below his feet and cold started to seep in as he was sucked into the portal.

“Wait-!”

The last thing he could see was The Bull that seemed to not be surprised about what happened, if anything, he looks slightly annoyed.

He was pinned between a hard wall and a cold body of someone familiar.

The one glaringly obvious clue was heterochromatic purple and golden eyes watching him in complete glee.

“You-!”

“Shhh- Hunter, you can’t let any of my pack know that I’m bringing you here.”

One finger shutting him up, Wukong could see the long nail of Six Eared Macaque glinting by the moonlight. There were sounds of gunshots elsewhere, screams of people and the building was lit on fire. His heartbeat was raging on his ribcage like a rabbit that ran from its predator, and here he was, stuck in god’s know where with one of the vampires.

Wukong swatted the hand on his lips that decided to linger there.

“Ouch, didn't you miss me?” The black furred hand didn’t even hesitate to get back to his face, nudging him up to look at Macaque smiling at him.

“It’s been quite some time since we last met, don’t you think?” He initiated, purple and gold eyes looking at him with something genuine glinting on it. But all Wukong could see was the scar on his right eyebrow, slowly going down to his eyes and then Wukong closed his eyes.

“... You should get out of here.” Wukong finally said, thinking about how Erlang and Nezha probably notice him missing, and if they had already finished exterminating their respective opponent, then the worst case is that Macaque will have to fight all three of them.

“It’s okay, they're much stronger than you would expect.” Macaque said. Wukong raises both of his eyebrows, he can’t ever really do the one eyebrow thing like Macaque does, but that was irrelevant anyway.

“I just punched your biggest guy across the face and he was stunned.” Wukong commented flatly, Macaque winch at the statement.

“Eh, DBK is probably fine now. Don’t worry.” The Six Eared Vampire waves him off, instead now already keeping himself busy by shoving his face to Wukong’s neck, taking a big breath.

Wukong could feel how the heat started to rise up his cheeks, regardless, Wukong found himself relaxing by the gesture. His hands found its way to circle around Macaque’s neck, to which the other reacted to it almost immediately by purring and entangled their tails together.

”Whoa, Peaches. You actually missed me.” The Six Eared Nuisance commented. Wukong clicked his tongue and buried his face toward the other's shoulder. Mumbling his own response.

“Shut it, you ruin the moment.”

“Shutting right up.” He could hear Macaque chuckling.

...

...

...

“… I see, so you have been joining up powerful high ranking vampires all this time. No wonder I haven't seen you quite as often.”

“Well, leaving trails toward the hunter association would certainly lead to my head chopped as a souvenir as soon as they found out.”

They continued talking inside of this… shadow space that Macaque had created. Wukong had never known Macaque could conjure one, so perhaps it was one of few things he had up his sleeve now that he is getting stronger.

One of the high rank vampires…

If anybody at the association knew he had deliberately hidden Macaque existence all this time instead of exterminating him, they would certainly send him to the chopping block as well. Not that Wukong hadn’t already known that since the start.

“… In any case, have you ever heard of any of them…” Wukong started, something a kind of hope rushed forward as he started the sentence, but he tried to push it down and hide it from the tone of his voice. Macaque, having already heard the same question being asked all the time, sighed.

“Nope, none of them ever consider turning back as human either. And I haven’t met the leader of the highest rank in this pack. Nor it’s power.”

“… I see.”

Well, he should have gotten used to this already. But Wukong couldn’t help feeling disappointed each time.

“Hey, don’t make that face.”

Macaque told him, voice impossibly soft now that they come to this topic yet again.

Wukong sighed, “I know I should be more patient but… it’s been years. You still stuck like this… even getting stronger by day, now you are a high ranked vampire.” Wukong told him, hand unconsciously gripping Macaque’s shoulder. If it hurt by any chance, Macaque certainly didn’t show it.

“… I’m sorry, Liu er. It’s my fault-“

Macaque shut him up quickly with a soft kiss.

“Nah, we are not arguing about it again.” He said, licking his own lips. Wukong was stunned by the act, still not used to this… kissing thing that they kind of also been doing while in the middle of a long term mission on finding a cure for Macaque.

Wukong frowned still, “Hey, I’m not exactly arguing. I was just telling the truth that-“

Macaque kissed him again, now deeper than before.

Wukong melted to the kiss, noticing Macaque licked his lips, asking him to open up and so he did.

He couldn’t help but notice the metallic taste of human blood still present while they both melted to the kiss.

Fighting for dominance, even though he knew very well he would just get overwhelmed either way considering how persistent Macaque can be when he wanted to be, Wukong instead focused his mind on how he did in fact, missed Macaque so damn much. It was hard enough already to keep meeting in secret to discuss any update they have on their respective end, which the association keeps moving forward and recruiting new powerful members, or how Macaque would need to move from place to place in order to get just out of reach.

Macaque seemed to notice his mind wandering elsewhere, judging on the way he bit Wukong’s lips teasingly.

“Oy, don’t think of anyone else when we make out.” The Six Eared Monkey said, tails sway in displeasure while still holding his ginger colored tail while at it. Making both of their tails swing together.

“Heh, jealous much?” Wukong couldn’t help but say, grinning just a little.

Macaque raised one of his eyebrows.

“… Fine, I was thinking about you anyway so cut it out.” He admitted.

“Heee?” That perks him up quickly.

… Which makes Wukong realize he should’ve not just said that, now that it inflates the guy’s own ego.

“Heee?” Macaque said yet again, trying to get his attention. “The most revered vampire hunter, Sun Wukong, is thinking about me? A mere vampire?” He said, all dramatic. Innocently swaying his head to the side, totally fucking with him with that surpressed glee all plastered on his face.

“Oh, shut it!”

“Never-“

This time, Wukong is the one shutting him up with a kiss.

“Oh okay, shutting up. Fine you won.” Macaque said.

“Anything new on your side?”

“… Just some kid having transformation symptoms of becoming a vampire. Bai He, she was just a little girl that we found in some of the vampire mansions. Possibly one of the livestocks they have.” Wukong slowly recollects the event inside of his head, of a young girl terrified of her own reflection. Of the bloodshed all over her, of something sinister that might happen that she had yet to tell.

Macaque hummed.

“That sounds like a really good lead, why do you make it sound like it wasn’t?”

“I’m not- I just-“ Couldn’t handle seeing her, of how he failed to show up in time and instead make her suffer far longer.

If this… if she did finally become a vampire, If Wukong did in fact manage to ruin another life yet again…

“… I hope… It will turn out to be okay for her.” Wukong finally said. “They were trying to use everything to stop the symptoms. But each day it has become harder… but if it is a success, I will tell you more about it.”

“… And if it’s a failure?” Macaque asked. He had always been a keen one, Wukong hated how Macaque just knew that there was something Wukong tried so hard to not mention.

“… If it's a failure, then I have promised her that I will kill her myself.” Wukong said, eyes lowered. He didn’t want to see whatever it was on Macaque’s expression right now. “She said she didn’t want to kill anyone.”

“Well, that’s too bad.” Macaque said plainly.

Wukong looked at him. Macaque was sneering, his fang glinting by the moonlight, yet his heterochromatic eyes watched Wukong in complete adoration.

“My resolve wouldn’t just break because I need to kill off a couple more people each passing day.” Macaque said, hand tracing on Wukong’s cheek slowly. Wukong just let him.

Even if he said that, Wukong could feel something was missing from the picture.

Thankfully, Macaque didn’t bother to hide it from him. “… My only concern, however, is that you would slowly resent me for it.”

“I would never.”

Wukong told him, hand tracing back to Macaque’s own hand on his cheek, showing his own resolve.

Macaque smirked and kissed him deeply. He tried kisses to Wukong’s jaw and ended on the right side of his neck. Biting there so softly to not draw any blood.

“If you ever… give up on turning me back, we could always become a pair of vampires, you know.” He said, the tone dripped in teasing. But Wukong could sense there’s some seriousness to it.

“Well, guess I will think about it and practice by eating medium rare steak or whatever.”

Wukong replied back, to which Macaque chuckled.

“Wukong! Are you okay?”

Nezha was running toward him, shouting all the way. Despite his messy appearance, with scar on his cheek and bruises all over his shoulder- something must’ve been bleeding over there, ouch- he still however has enough energy to check on Wukong.

So much for acting all strict and proper. Wukong waves him off. “I just accidentally stumbled upon another high ranked vampire power. But it ran after I beat them up good. Too bad I couldn’t quite shoot them at the heart.”

Nezha mulled over his explanation. All the while Erlang was walking toward them.

“They were all really powerful demons, it was curious why they picked this specific village to destroy.” Erlang said.

“Indeed, even Wukong couldn’t kill his opponent. And I was ganged up on by two of them, the winged eagle and the elephant were strong and I couldn’t quite kill any of them.” Nezha reported.

“How about you Erlang, were you able to kill any?” Wukong asked, considering Erlang was on par with him in strength.

Erlang only shook his head.

“You too huh.”

“In any case, we should report this finding to the higher ups soon and have a search party ready to track them all down.” Erlang said. “I was fighting the lion, Nezha fighting the bird and the elephant. What are you fighting, Wukong?”

Wukong smiled at them, “Just one really big bull. He was quite the brute.” he said.

Notes:

HII I hope you did enjoy it!

For anyone that bothered to read tags and saw the "lot of kisses" tag, yes that was mostly the very scene I was thinking the whole time I'm writing this up. Heh, no wonder the plotting got overshadowed by them too busy catching up with each other :>

Anyway, have a great day! And please feel free to share your thought down in the comment! Many thanks!
