They stopped in front of a half-open door. Sobs and screams came from it. Jack peered inside cautiously. A man was lying on the floor, bloodied and covered in bruises, being beaten by other men. In another room, a woman screamed while she was being forced to submerged in icy water.
“Man and woman were made for each other,” he said in a firm voice. “Each person has a place, a destiny. That's what we're born for: to love as God intended. That man got sick, Jack. He fell in love with another man. And that woman got sick too; she kissed another woman. They both strayed from God's path. Being sinners.”
Or; Gazerbeam and Gamma Jack fall in love. Being in love in the 1950s/1960s makes everything more complicated than it should be.

Summary
It's only been days, but the sticky stickiness on his hand seems to refuse to let go. He tries with all his might to tear it from his skin, scraping his hand until, unbelievably, his hand burns with pain. He bites his lip as he tries to work his magic where the stickiness refuses to let him go.

"Kent—" he gasps, falling with a thud onto the bed. The blue-eyed man places his hand on Damian's shirt, with a flirtatious smile.

Summary
It is irrational. It's childish. But the image of his mother, tears in her eyes and a warm touch on his skin, makes him want to hold on to this moment.
So he simply nods. And blows out the small candle.
"You have to be strong, habibi" whispers his mother, sliding a hand down his back in a gesture he doesn't know how to receive.
Damian tries not to tense up. He fails.
"Shujaa" she says one last time, laying him back on his bed with unfamiliar tenderness. And when she disappears into the darkness, Damian feels something break inside him.
The next morning, and in the days that follow, his mother is nowhere to be found. No matter how much he waits, no matter how many mistakes he makes on purpose, she never comes back for him.
Or; Instead of Talia take Damien to Bruce, she disappears from the boy's life. Years later, the family he didn't know he had breaks into the league of assassins.
And Damien hates them.

Summary
Simon James Paladino had a great deal of problems.
Well, to say that it was a great deal of problems was an obfuscation. Objectively, it was just one problem; or, more precisely, one man causing many problems.
Gamma Jack.
His archnemesis, who was complicating his life in ways that he couldn't solve. This problem becomes incredibly more complex as when he critically injures the villain in a fight, he takes it upon himself to care for the man until he is well enough to not immediately die upon his arrival in jail.
That is, until Frozone tells Gazerbeam the story of how Blazestone became a hero. She was initially a villain, until she dated Frozone, and he was able to convince her to reform.
With Simon's acute people skills, and Jack's willingness to open his legs for anyone, it should be easy for Gazerbeam to do the same as Frozone. He can solve his problem with ease. Just date supervillain and personal archnemesis, Gamma Jack, convince him to become a Super, and then break up with him. Easy, right?

Jack told Simon once that people bore him and that there’s only a selection of people whose faces he bothered remembering—but Simon was different; his image had long etched itself onto his mind with the persistence of a dying star. He told him that while they were still in bed, warm skin sliding in, his soft hands were gentle as they caressed Simon’s cheek like it was fragile glass.
“Don’t you dare,” Jack choked, his head thrown back while his own hands clawed at both the white sheet of the bed and Simon’s skin. “I wanna cum with you,” he begged, a rare and sweet moment.
“Oh, Darling,” Simon kissed him on the mouth again, tongue clashing and moist with heat. “You only need to ask,” he said.
