Chapter Text
“You know what fine! I fucking hate this family anyways!” It was the last thing Touya said as he walked out of his father’s house leaving his siblings there and for once being fully on his own at the age of 18.
“But that doesn’t explain why I have an invitation to Shoto’s graduation of all things,” Dabi said as he waved the envelope in front of Tomura’s face.
“Beats me,” Tomura said with a shrug as he lounged on the couch playing his DS, swatting his best friend’s hand away.
“Tomura, it's been seven years. Why does my family want to connect with me now? It's not like I sent them a text or a letter saying ‘Hello family and abusive father I would love it if you let me back into your lives’,” Dabi mocked, steadily pacing the floor.
“Did the stupid thing come with anything or did it just say to show up at this time and at this place?” Shigaraki asked, finally looking up from the game.
“It came with Shoto’s number-” Dabi didn’t even get a chance to finish because his blue-haired friend answered for him.
“Call him then. I just don’t want to hear your burnt ass complaining to me right now,” Tomura said as Dabi flipped him off and he returned the favor.
Dabi wished he was able to make the decision on if he should call or not call at the moment, but he was feeling way too stressed. Taking a deep breath he decided to go outside, happy that he and his roommates agreed on finally buying a house, as he started to smoke a cigarette. He was tired of moving from place to place. Now he finally had his shit together with a family that he cares about, he would never tell them that, and a dumb bird that stole his heart and his family thinks that he can just drop everything and come back to them.
It was just as he was about to put the thing out on his skin, not like he could feel it anyway, that he saw a teenage girl with blonde hair tied up in two buns walking towards him, making him change his decision to squash cancer stick out with his foot. He’s been doing that more. Back when he was younger and it was just him and Shigaraki he didn’t really care what he did with his body. Something must have changed in the last few years to make him. . . happy?
“Hiya Dabi!” she greeted him excitedly.
“Hey crazy,” Dabi greeted her as she jumped up and gave him a hug, him returning grumpily.
“I finally got it!” She said as she held up a sheet of paper.
“What’s that?” Dabi asked her.
“My graduation date along with the tickets and of course you’re all invited!” Toga shouted with excitement as she handed Dabi one.
“You are coming right?” She asked and Dabi would be the devil reincarnated if he ignored the look in her eyes.
“Of course I am. I didn’t go through the hell of helping you study these past four years to not show up,” Dabi said as he waved the invitation, but he knew his words meant a lot to Toga after all the girl’s own family doesn’t want anything to do with her. They only keep her around cause they don’t want a scandal getting around that they kicked their mentally ill child out. It disgusted Dabi.
“I’m gonna go and give Jin and Toma-Chan their invites!” She said excitedly as she ran into the house.
It was after she went inside that Dabi finally looked at the invitation in his hand and right there was the date. May 29.
“Well, shit,” was all Dabi said to himself as he felt the weight of the invitation in his pocket which had the date of May 30th. Sure they were a day apart but Dabi moved as far away as he did for a reason. It would take a full day just to get to the kid’s school.
“It’s not like I actually want to go,” was what he said, but that didn’t stop his fingers from typing the phone number into his beat-up phone or from asking if he could bring a plus one.
Lil bro: Can’t wait to see you
Dabi: I never guaranteed everything. I don’t know if I’ll have time
“That’s a good answer doesn’t guarantee anything but it also keeps it open that I might be able to make this work. I just have to get permission from Toga,” Dabi said to himself as he sighed, but got up, feeling the staples pull at healthy skin, and walked inside. After all the changes his body has gone through there was only so much the tattoos Shigaraki had given him could cover the mess and disaster that is his body.
It did make Dabi smile to see his family, no not the one he left behind, but the one he made for himself.
Shigaraki Tomura. The two met when they were fourteen, maybe fifteen, and decided to rebel against their asshole dads later they moved and opened their own business, a tattoo and piercing parlor. They’ve been through a lot together. Tomura is the only one to know who Dabi was before the burns and Dabi has decided he knows too much information to lose him.
Then came Jin and Dabi snorted at the guy’s last name, luckily enough he preferred to just be called Twice. Dabi and Tomura were around twenty when they met the man as he walked into the parlor one day asking for a job. Not as an artist or a piercer but just a guy who can do busy work and they shrugged and allowed it. It wasn't long until he became part of his makeshift family. Poor guy was always caught up in something that wasn’t his fault. Dabi didn’t mind bailing him out when he needed. Just had to keep an eye out for Okuta. That damn Brooker was more worried about Jin then all of them combined.
They agreed to let the guy live with them when his last landlord kicked him out for being too disturbing even though he had a legitimate reason.
Next came Toga Himiko. Dabi met her a year later when she walked into the shop trying to get a piercing done but was denied as she was a thirteen-year-old girl, but she kept coming back and Dabi was getting annoyed at her until he caught her crying behind the shop one day.
This was the day the two bonded and Dabi learned about her shit home life. From that point on she became the desk girl and if she wasn't working she would just spend her time doing her homework, getting the three guys to help her if she needed it. It didn’t take long and she had everyone in the whole house wrapped around her finger ready to kill for her. The first night she showed up with a bruise around her eye was the day Dabi decided they needed a bigger place so Toga could have a safe place to sleep. That was the day three males went from living in a two-bedroom apartment with a comfy couch to a big house that had ten rooms. To this day Dabi doesn’t know how they paid for it in full and he would rather not ask. All he knows was that Tomura’s adopted dad was involved in a lawsuit.
Kurogiri was always there with Tomura. Happy to follow the kid around. Dabi suspected he didn’t like how his dad was treating him either. He was once a personal butler to Tomura, now he keeps the whole house running with Sako.
Sako had to be around Kurogiri’s age. He was introduced to him and Tomura one day from Okuta. The guy walked in the shop and asked if we could hide Sako for a few days until everything around him cools down. Tomura through a big bitch fit about it, but after a few days, he became useful. He stood in as Toga’s parent at any meetings she had to have and signed her forms with a perfect copy of her parent's signature. Now she had to go home even less. When things finally settled down Sako asked if he could stay. Hew would pull his weight and not bring any trouble. Shigaraki was gruff, but he allowed it with a groan.
Next came Spinner. He had a freak mutation that caused him to look like a green lizard. He likes gaming and is a major fanboy, but after being chased into the shop one day by a group of bigoted assholes, Dabi offered him a job. Well actually it was Toga, but her eyes begged for the two owners to say yes and while they deny it, her eyes can make them do anything.
Spinner doesn’t leave his room often, but not for a lack of trying. After being scared and hiding in allies all his life, he’s just happy to have a bed. Dabi knows that if anyone in the house asks him to go outside he would do it, but they could never demand that of him. They’ll just have to wait till he’s ready with small pushes.
Magne came next. Toga dragged her into the store after seeing her stand outside the shop for multiple days. The first day they met Dabi asked him what he wanted to which Magne punched Tomura in the face and said “I’m a girl dumbass!” Dabi laughed his ass off his chair and while Tomura was grumpy he just waved her off. “Course you are. My mistake.”
She ended up coming into the shop on most days just to talk to Toga, saying to many males are a bad influence. “If your’re going to be around her all the time then you might as well move in,” Shigaraki grumbled as he handed her the address. She didn’t know that Toga complained to them about her landlord raising her and only her rent because of her body issues.
Last and maybe Dabi’s favorite was Keigo. They met shortly after Toga started working with them in the shop. He came in asking for the worst thing Dabi has ever heard and laughed when Shigaraki denied him immediately. He came in day after day asking for the same thing. Only coming in when Dabi was working. To make a long story short Toga forced him on a date. It was hard to admit, but Dabi loved the dumb blonde. He doesn’t know everything about Keigo but he doesn’t know everything about him either. They’ve had their bad fights, but after all these years they're still together.
This wasn't all the people in Dabi’s life after all there were regulars and there were others who just liked the shop or who enjoyed the atmosphere of the bar that Kurogiri ran, but these were the people Dabi decided to live with. This was his family. The family he willingly runs two businesses with. Kurogiri manages the bar, with Magene, Sako, and Jin as bartenders, letting Spinner work in the back. Then with Shigaraki who owns their studio. He’s a master artist and lets Dabi handle the piercings and Toga handles the desk work. One day Spinner will work there to once he’s ready.
This was his family that currently had an annoyed Tomura just trying to play his DS getting ready to rip the invitation Toga was waving in his face as Twice helped to annoy him.
“Thank fuck you’re done with your smoke. Get this child off of me,” Tomura said with a glare, holding his DS as high in the air as he could to avoid it being broken.
“Just accept the fucking invitation,” Dabi told him with an eye roll as Shigaraki grumbled, but complied as Toga jumped up and spun in a circle.
“Yay! I can’t wait for you guys to see me walk down the aisle and accept my diploma! Now I can actually go to college!” She said happily.
“Did you apply to any?” Twice asked.
“Yeah! I applied for the local community college. They have a lot of options there and I didn’t want to be far from you guys. Plus It’ll be cheaper since I don't have to pay for a meal plan or dorms or anything, just books and tuition.” Toga explained and Dabi was impressed she thought this much into it, but a part of him was disappointed.
It’s not that he wants to see her leave, but he knows she could be so much better if society would just give her a chance.
“I’m sure you’ll get in. In the meantime, I’m hungry and want some dinner. Anyone else?” Dabi asked as three humans agreed with him, but seeing as how only he and Toga could cook he decided to take charge tonight. Sako and Kurogiri were on a business trip and wouldn’t be back for a few days, this left them starving and in a messy house. Dabi wasn’t kidding when he said they held this family together.
It wouldn’t be till later that night when Dabi was enjoying a nice smoke outside that Tomura would join him and confront him once again about his family.
“I saw the dates. They’re right next to each other,” he took the smoke out of Dabi’s hand bringing it to his mouth and passing it back over.
“Thanks for pointing out the obvious,” Dabi gladly took it back.
“I know you want to go. Try as you might, you've always cared for your siblings. You have an older brother complex, it's why you’ve been caring and helping Toga since you found her crying that night,” Tomura said, and wow did that feel like a stab to the heart? The truth can really be hated. “I won’t stop you from going, but you’ll miss Toga celebrating. Then she’ll be angry at you for at least a week and when she’s angry at you she’s angry at everybody,” the blue-haired male said in a bored tone, but Dabi knew exactly what he wanted him to say.
“I have an idea, and I don’t know if Toga will like it. I was going to talk to her about it tomorrow,” Dabi said as he brought the stick up to his lips.
“It’s a stupid idea, isn’t it?” Tomura asked.
“C’mon Tenko, you know the answer to that.”
“Fuck it is a stupid idea. Just make sure no one gets arrested, died, or brutally injured,” Tomura said as he walked away leaving Dabi with his thoughts.
Sorry I haven’t texted much It’s been a busy week
Text me when you’re ready to meet up next
-Hawks
Dabi smiled at the text. “At least one thing can bring me joy right now,” Dabi said to himself as he blew the smoke out and replied to the message snuffing out the stick to walk inside and go to bed.
It’s gonna be a stressful week soon enough Birdie
I’ll message you when I have a free moment but if anything, just stop by the shop
You know where to find me

Chapter 2
Summary:
I really don't like this story much anymore, but here it is
Chapter Text
“So let me get this straight. You want to go to my graduation and celebrate with me, but you have to go to another graduation, that of your kid brother’s the next day and you want me to come with you so you can still celebrate with me?” Toga recapped the whole conversation.
“Pretty much yeah. I don’t know why I was invited but it wasn't a mistake and I didn’t want to miss out on celebrating so I thought I’d just bring you with me,” Dabi told her.
“In other words,” Toga started as a smile grew on her face, “I get to meet your family.”
“Yeah. You get to meet the family,” Dabi said as what he said is fully settled in, but as she was cheering Tomura, the ball of sunshine he is, joined in. “Don’t be too excited, I bet his dad is still a dick.”
“Shoto says he’s trying to ‘be better,” Dabi said as he quoted the better part.
“And you believe him?” Tomura asked with an eyebrow raised.
“Fuck no! Once an abusive piece of shit always an abusive piece of shit, but I’m not blaming that bastard for missing Shoto’s graduation.” It only took a small silence before Dabi spoke up again, “Okay fine! I’m also wondering why they’d want to contact me after so long.”
“I think it would be fun to meet your family Dabi and this way we still get to celebrate and you get to come to my graduation!” Toga said happily as she gave him a hug and Dabi was just happy that she agreed.
“Did you let the idiot know you were going out of town yet?” Tomura asked, knowing his best friend of over ten years can be a dumbass.
“Nah I was gonna let him know as I was leaving. Just don’t pierce anyone till I get back,” Dabi told him.
“I wouldn’t dream of it. I hate doing your job. It’s why you have it.”
“And because I can’t draw worth shit,” Dabi said back.
“That too,” Tomura agreed.
Toga just rolled her eyes at the exchange and got up suddenly very energetic.
“Don’t forget we have to get me my graduation gown and cap along with an outfit and I still have to take my senior photos,” Toga told them as the two men groaned and that is how you find Toga pulling the two men around the mall as she tries to find herself the perfect dress.
“Why are we helping you?” Tomura asked and Dabi couldn’t help but want the answer to that question. It’s not like the two men were known for their fashion sense.
“Because I need to find the perfect dress and you two are the ones who are going to help me,” Toga said as she skipped ahead of them but it just made the blue-haired male sigh.
“I didn’t ask why we were helping you in an oblivious way. I mean to ask why did you ask the two males with no fashion knowledge to help you? Magne would be better or even the idiot would’ve been a good fit for this. He at least has a fashion sense,” Tomura said, pushing a rack of clothes away from him in disgust.
“Do you have to refer to him as an idiot every time?” Dabi asked.
“Yes. I have proof of it too,” Shigaraki said and when he didn’t answer for a few seconds only Dabi glared at him when he finally answered, “He’s dating you isn’t he.”
“Don’t be mean to Kei!” Toga said playfully, but she still had a smile on her face.
“Of course, you two would team up against me,” Tomura said as he kicked another rack of clothes that were in his way. “Let’s just get this over with.”
It took a while but soon Toga found a dress that fit her perfectly. It was a two-piece that showed her belly and it was short shorts that were black but on the side had red blood drops going down and then the top was a hoodie crop top that was black as well but on the sleeves had red blood droplets. She wore fishnet tights under it along with a pair of black heels that had a nice red bow on them.
“Of course, Crazy goes for the outfit that has blood on it,” Tomura said in fun banter.
“It’s cute and it makes me look cute,” Toga said as she bought the outfit, the cashier eyeing the two males with her suspiciously.
“Now that we have the outfit can we please go home?” Dabi asked, knowing from previous experience he doesn’t last long in clothing stores.
“Yes we can leave,” Toga said as she was handed her bag and rolled her eyes.
It was a week later that you saw Dabi, his boyfriend Keigo, Tomura, Magne, and Twice in their best outfits as they walked into the high school gym to watch the crazy blonde girl walk down and receive her diploma. “Shame Mamagiri and Daddypress couldn’t be here,” Dabi said, making the others snicker.
“They’ll be back in a few days. Their watching it live anyway,” Tomura waved him off.
“You know they hate to be called that,” Magne glared at the three males playfully.
“They're not here to defend themselves. I’ll call them whatever the fuck I want!” Twice added to the conversation, but quickly stopped as the ceremony started.
If Keigo and Twice screamed the loudest when she was handed the diploma, no one said anything as the two others in the group glared at the other families, daring them to say anything.
Toga appreciated them as well as she waved and gave them a big smile to show that she was happy that they were there.
“So you’re taking Toga to visit your family after this?” Keigo asked Dabi as he sat back down in the stands now that Toga was off stage.
“I was invited to Shoto’s graduation and it intrigued me as to why I was invited. I mean sure I gave my siblings my address but I never actually expected them to do anything with that information. They want something other than just me going to his graduation and I want to know. The only way for me to make it is if I take Toga with me so she’s going to meet them as well,” Dabi explained to his boyfriend.
“She’s going to be okay right? Toga’s never gotten good responses from the general public,” Keigo said and as Dabi looked in his face he could tell the birdbrain was worried.
“If anything happens to her then I’m taking her and storming out of that place. You know I wouldn’t let anything happen to her,” Dabi assured him as Hawks grabbed his arm and leaned on his side.
“Yeah I know you have a big brother complex,” Keigo said tiredly with a smile.
“Tomura said the same thing.”
“Then maybe it’s a sign that we’re right,” Keigo said with a laugh as Dabi glared at him.
“You gonna be fine while we’re gone?” Dabi asked. Even though Keigo doesn't live or work with him he spends a lot of his time with Dabi when he’s not working and Dabi might be worrying a bit too much about that.
“I’ll be fine hot stuff. Show Toga a good time and take pictures for me,” Keigo said as he gave Dabi a kiss and the two sat back and quietly watched the rest of the ceremony.
It was after the ceremony that the two had already put their bags in the car and were getting ready to leave.
Toga was in the process of saying goodbye to all of them while Tomura just gave him a look to make sure Toga was taken care of. Dabi responded with a head shake to show he acknowledged it.
“Be careful kay hot stuff,” Keigo told him as he dragged Dabi in for a kiss and Tomura very much voiced his dislike.
“Don’t worry we will be bird brain,” Dabi responded after the kiss and it wasn't long before the two were on the road.
