Chapter 1: I Was Never Just a Man
Chapter Text
Sam woke up and pushed the black blanket off him and stood up and put his boxers on and then his suit pants. he put deodorant on and a white t-shirt and then his sleek black suit jacket and buttoned it and then he heard it... The slight groan of the woman in bed, her brown hair appearing as she looked at Sam "do you really have to wake up at 7:30am?" Sam shrugged and looked at her "if I don't then who else will bring the business world to its knees?" she groaned again and kicked the blanket off herself and started getting dressed "you owe me for making me leave this early" Sam chuckled and slicked his hair back "fine, I'll take you to dinner next week, okay?" she sighed "is this before or after the other girls you go and fuck?" Sam gave a slight smirk "oh come on, you act like that's all I do" she looked at him "I read your texts to Zora. oh, I'll see you later tonight." Sam looked at her "two things. One, don't go through my phone again and two, that's my younger sister." The woman looked at Sam "I'm sorry" Sam looked at her "You should be, assuming I'm fucking my little sister, who do I look like, Lucifer?" She chuckled "I mean all demons are the same anyways." Sam was facing away when she said it, but his eyes flashed from hazel to blood orange "you should go" The woman looked at him "Did I say something wrong?" Sam turned to look at her showing his eyes and she gasped "You're a demon?" Sam snapped his fingers making her disappear and sighed "I always give one freebie and then I make them disappear for good" He started picking up her belongings and tossed them into the fireplace in the living room as he walked out of his master bedroom and into the kitchen.
Sam opened his whiskey cabinet and took out a bottle of whiskey and poured a shot and put the whiskey bottle back in the cabinet and downed the glass and washed it and put it back and sighed as he looked out the patio in the living room overlooking the city "I'll never be like them" He opened a portal and entered it, appearing in hell the smell of sulfur filling his long with the overhead red sky. he saw two imps fighting and pulled out a wallet and a fifty-dollar bill and changed it into hell currency and handed it to the two imps and said "hey, don't fight. Were sinners but we need to be a little classier and not fight about a can of soup." He walked out of the alley way as the imps started fighting again, one killing the other. Sam walked up to a club and saw the line and walked to the front, being stopped by the Dragon bouncer "No cutting" Sam looked at the dragon's name tag "Oh Colton, you won't make a measly little thing like me wait in this line with all these less thens will you?" Colton blushed slightly "Uh sir there's rules" Sam looked at him softly "how about a deal? you let me in, and I'll pay the favor back in any way you desire later" his hand caressed Colton's muzzle softly causing Colton to flush and unlatch the rope allowing Sam in "go ahead sir" Sam leaned up and kissed Colton's ear "Thanks Big guy" Colton flushed worse as Sam entered the club.
Sam sat at the bar as a female bartender sighed "this is fucking great, you're seducing my bouncer to get in now Sam?" Sam chuckled "Oh come on Zora, you better than anyone should know I was only teasing him to let me in." Zora smiled softly and rolled her eyes "what do you want Sam? you going to order a drink or do I have to have Colton come and get you and force you to give him that favor you promised?" Sam smiled "I'll take a whiskey sis like normal" She made the whiskey and set the glass Infront of him and asked "What do you even want? You know if Lucifer or one of his pets find you here, they will tell him" Sam shrugged "I told you I'd come visit you sis and I meant it. You're my world, after Cyprus died, I was lost. I rebelled against hell and fled to earth and swore I'd never come home... But here I am" Zora sighed "You always bring up Cyprus, Sam. you left me here to pick up the role you were supposed to take, and I made it something." Sam smiled "I know, and I'm proud of you for taking the role sis, even if you're pissed that I left you here" Zora washed a glass "you did more than leave me here Sam. you knew Lucifer would be pissed and you still left me here!" she slammed the glass cracking it. Sam looked at her "Zora, you made yourself a good thing here. what would you have done on earth? Oh, that's right I did bring you to earth at one point and what happened?" Zora went quiet "don't bring that up Sam" Sam looked at her softly and took her hand in his "I'd never bring that up to hurt you purposely sis." he pulled the piece of glass out of her hand and made a bandage appear and wrapped her hand carefully. "Please be careful next time sis, you could have cut an important vein" Zora smiled lightly and tossed the broken glass away and took Sam's empty glass and washed it "Where you headed next?" Sam shrugged "Anywhere but out the front so I don't have to deal with my favor for Colton" she laughed and motioned to the backdoor and Sam leaned over the counter and hugged her "Thanks baby Sister, I love you" he left.
Zora cleaned the glass as a Hellhound female walked up and sat down "one whiskey please" the female smiled as Zora handed her the glass, and the female drank it happily "another" Zora poured her another and said, "A female only tries to get fucked up if she's about to fuck a stranger or confront a ghost." The female smiled lightly "yeah confronting a ghost." Zora sighed "Confronting ghost are hard... Do you want help?" The female pointed to the back door "That guy who just left, what was his name?" Zora grabbed a hidden gun but didn't raise it and asked, "who wants to know?" The female looked at her "his daughter" Zora looked pale and shocked "his daughter?" the female looked at her "trust me, I didn't know about my father for 18 years till I heard the whispers of him from my mom before she died." Zora asked softly "What's your name?" the female stood and smiled "Zarya." she paid and left out the back like Sam did minutes before. Zora let go of the gun and cleaned the glass and whispered to herself "Sam you have a lot of explaining to do"
Sam looks down at his phone and sees Zora's text "you have a lot of explaining to do" Sam texted back "in regard to what?" Zora texted back "You'll see soon enough, just don't be shocked cause I know how you react to stuff." Sam texted her "Are you saying I overreact?" He pocketed his phone and walked unaware of the footsteps behind him. Sam walked for what felt like hours, he had long since noticed the steps far behind him as if the person was scared to confront him, he tried to lose them at many different turns. He stopped and sniffed the air, the scent filling his nose caused him to panic and he bolted across the hellish wasteland. The boots chasing behind him. Sam ducked into valleys and ran across lava lakes, but the figure followed as if latching onto Sam's scent. he knew the fight ahead or so he thought.
Sam spotted the ruins of an old cathedral and ran to it. Sam hopped into the cathedral through a busted window and when he landed, he landed on all fours now in his hellhound form. all black fur with neon green markings, his tail with razor sharp bristles ready to fight. he stood up and looked at the entrance as the female entered the cathedral covered in shadows; her blood orange eyes matching Sam's eyes, her scent that of familiarity to him, and he asked, "Who are you?" the female removed her hood revealing her hellhound features, her ear twitched, her tail swayed behind her, and she replied "I'm your daughter." Sam looked at her confused "Daughter?" she growled "Yeah your daughter Zarya, not ringing a bell?"
Chapter 2: The Ghosts he made
Chapter Text
Sam looked at her paw raised as if saying give me a minute, but Zarya didn't "Why the fuck should I give you time to process this? you didn't process it for 18 whole years but now you need a minute to process?" Sam looked at her "What do you want me to say?" Zarya looked at him "explain why you didn't come when you knew she was pregnant with me." Sam sighed "Zarya, I didn't know about you. about any of them." Zarya asked "Them?" Sam nodded "Zarya, I know how this ends for me. not at Lucifers hands or my own hands but by one of my many abandoned kids' hands and I have had time as an immortal to understand that." Zarya growls "Give me one reason I shouldn't kill you right now!" Sam held up his paws "cause I can teach you how to harness your power... Your divine powers" Zarya looked at him angrily and snapped "Explain!" Sam looked at her "That energy you feel building and coursing through your veins is God blood, and under the wrong hands, it can be extremely lethal to the world. but in the right hands... it's the weapon to end the lethal ones"
Zarya processed this for a few minutes before looking at him "you're not lying, are you?" Sam shook his head "Sadly I can't lie to anyone but myself" she looked at him with a saddened expression "do you even remember her name?" Sam frowned and shook his head "No Zarya I don't. I'm sorry" Zarya nodded "My mom's name was Lucy and, on her death, bed is when I found out about you Sam. My bastard father who didn't even to be there for my first words or any of that shit" her voice cracked causing Sam to look shocked "Zarya" She growled "Don't! Don't try to make me forgive you right now." Sam shook his head "I'd never and will never ask you to forgive me Zarya. that's your choice when you do... if you decide to" Zarya looked at him softly "I hate you..." Sam nodded sadly "I know" Zarya sighed "but I love you as well" Sam looked at her but Zarya sighed "promise me you'll be there for me now that I found you?" Sam nodded lightly, a tear falling "I'll be here with you and for you as long as you allow me to be Zarya." Thats all she needed to hear as she hugged him and cried into him. Sam lightly hugged her back still processing how to be her dad.
Zarya eventually looked up at him and whispered, "What's your last name Sam?" Sam looked down at her softly "Viscait." she smiled "Then my name is Zarya Viscait, and you can never forget me." Sam chuckled "with a powerful name like that, I could never forget you Zarya." she pulled away and asked, "Where's home?" Sam opened a portal and said, "through here is our home Zarya" she looked at it with amazement "Can you teach me how to do that?" Sam smiled softly "yeah kiddo, ill teach you how to use your powers to fight evil" she intertwined her paw in his and they walked through the portal.
Sam and Zarya appeared in the living room of his mansion, and she looked around in bewilderment "you live here?" Sam chuckled "correction. We live here." She looked at him "what room can I have?" He smiled "any you want kiddo." She instantly ran around the mansion looking in the rooms. a movie theater, an arcade, an indoor gym. she looked at him "this place has everything; do you bring many females here?" Sam looked at her "not really" Zarya looked at him "than why does it smell like a brothel?" Sam scoffed "you have a mouth on you, don't you?" Zarya smirked "guess I take after you huh?" Sam smiled "yeah I guess you do, but to answer your question. I bring females here yes, but all the scents you smell are from the business parties that I have to throw" Zarya looked up at him "Business?" He walked over to a locked door in the living room and unlocked it and looked at her "you have to promise to never come in here without my permission Zarya" She nodded "you have my word Sam" he entered and showed her all the business stuff for Viscait Enterprise and said "One day Zarya. you will inherit all this from me and one day you will pass it on to your kids" Zarya scoffed "I'm not about the sexual life. I find no interest in helping someone else get off."
Zarya walked to the stairs and asked, "What's up here." Sam shrugged "I don't know. I don't use that floor much." she walked up the stairs and Sam followed her. Zarya followed her nose like it was leading her to food but instead it led her to a door, and she opened it with a creak, and she sighed "I'm going to have to do something about this creaking door." she looked into the massive room and smiled back at Sam "this will be my room" Sam smiled "then it'll be yours kiddo" she smiled and walked in and brainstormed out loud "I want a luxury king bed, Black curtains, a Gothic desk." she looked at Sam "you're not writing any of this down." Sam smiled "It's because I'll remember it up here" he motioned to his head and smiled causing Zarya to look at him "so how do we pay for all this stuff? usually, id steal to get what I wanted" he smiled "were on earth kiddo, things are different here and we have to abide by human laws." she groaned "human laws sound so strict and boring" Sam laughed "you're not wrong kiddo, but it makes following them a lot more fulfilling when you know you earned it." She looked at him "Earned it? Sounds like a scam some rich assholes say to make the poor feel like they will eventually succeed." Sam laughed "oh you don't know yet how accurate that statement is."
Sam watches her as she opens the window to let air in, and she breathes "thank god I'm no longer smelling some rich assholes cologne." Sam looks offended "that rich asshole is your father." She shrugs and looks at him "well were going to change your scent choices cause they fucking smell horrible." Sam sighed "be lucky I won't ground you for that Zarya" she picked up a chair and tossed it out the window to the ground below, it smashes "starting with that" Sam looked at her "that chair was over 200 years old" she looked at him "oops sorry, must have slipped out of my fingers." Sam looked at her "how about we get you ready for training?" Zarya picked up a whip and looked at him "I swear to god if you tell me this was used in sexual activities I'm going to throw up." Sam laughed "actually, no but to come to think about it. your mom loved..." Zarya glared at him and tossed it out the window "Please don't finish that sentence about what she liked in the bedroom" he smiled and helped her pick up the desk "Lemme guess, you hate the smell of it?" Zarya tossed it out the window and looked at him "no that's just what I wanted to do to you but know I can't." Sam laughed and looked at her "I mean you could, but then I'd just ground you." Zarya looked at him "Ground me? seriously. I'm 18" Sam replied, "and yet you live in my home" she looked at him "that's a fair statement, but." Sam looked at her "But what?" She replied, "you won't kick me out cause you promised to never abandon me again" Sam smiled softly "and I never will kiddo"
Chapter 3: Like Father, Like Fire
Chapter Text
Zarya walked into the training ground, stopping to look back at Sam "Were training today? you're serious about teaching me?" Sam nodded "if I don't teach you, you die fighting with anger instead of for the ones that matter, now get like this" he put his hands together, watching her do the same thing. She asked, "you know how awkward this is to be putting my hands together like I'm about to pray to God." Sam walked up to her and put his finger to her forehead sending her flying backwards into a crash pad causing him to laugh. Zarya got up and growled "The Fuck Was That For!?" Sam looked at her "lesson one kiddo, learn to control your center of power or else stronger beings will always be able to beat you." Zarya walked over to him and got back into position putting her hands back together and focused "again" Sam walked up to her and touched her forehead, causing her to fly into the crash pad again. She growled as she got up "This is fucking ridiculous, it's not working, you expect me to learn this day one, don't you?" Sam looked at her "that's not true at all, I expect you to learn at your pace Zarya. I didn't learn this my first day. I didn't learn any of my power's day one, I learned them over time, you will to kiddo" she walked over and stood and put her hands together "Aga..." she was already launched back into the crash pad and when she got up, she was in her hellhound form growling at Sam, causing him to smile "Aww is my daughter upset that I'm teaching her?" Zarya lunged at him "No, I'm pissed you didn't give me a damn warning" Sam grabbed her and pinned her with his hellhound tail, making sure the razor-sharp bristles were down so not to hurt her, and he said softly "Our enemies won't give you a chance to negotiate, if they want to fight Zarya. you have to be ready for anything your enemy will do cause it's the deciding factor between life and death." She scoffed as she forced his tail off her "That's bullshit and you know it, we are god blood like you said," Sam looked at her "Just because we are god blood, doesn't mean were not vulnerable when family is involved Zarya."
Zarya growled as she got up "the hell is the point of us being god blood if were weak when our family members are involved?" Sam looked at her softly "we are powerful yes, but how can you protect our family, if you can't first protect yourself?" Zarya snapped back "I've been protecting myself just fine for the past few years since I didn't have a father to be there for me." Sam nodded and looked at her "Would you have even of wanted me then? or would you have snapped at me then like you are doing right now?" She looked at him "I don't know but I have you now and you have to live with me snapping at you." Sam walked away but stopped when Zarya called out "are you leaving again?" Sam looked back over his shoulder at her "No kiddo, I'd never leave you again, but training is done for the day." he left the training ground, leaving Zarya alone with her thoughts. She put her hands together and focused on her core.
Sam entered the mansion and walked into the kitchen, unlocking the whiskey cabinet and grabbing himself a glass. Pouring himself a shot and downing it quickly "Fucking kid, I can tell you're mine. you little asshole." he cleaned the glass and put it in the whiskey cabinet, he reclosed the cabinet and locked it back. he looked from the kitchen into the backyard and out at the city beyond, arms on the counter. he was deep in thought when Zarya came in and said, "You're brooding." Sam looked at her "I am most definitely not brooding." She smiled and walked to the fridge and opened it "I'm hungry." Sam replied, "Hi Hungry, I'm Sam" She looked at him slowly "that was horrible, and you know it." she couldn't help but smile a little though. Sam looked at her "There it is, that smile a parent loves to see on their child." Zarya scoffed "oh shut up you softy." Sam laughed "Sorry, can't help but be happy seeing you smile and not snapping at me." Zarya sighed "Sam?" Sam looked at her, he can tell she was struggling with what she wanted to ask. "What is it kiddo?" she looked back at him "Can you cook me food please?" She smiled, causing Sam to look at her "that was what you were struggling to ask?" he grabbed a pot from the cabinet and put water in it and set it on the stove and turned the stove on to boil the water.
Zarya sat at the counter, watching Sam cook "What are you making? it smells... Good? What is this sorcery?" Sam laughed "Its food humans eat Zarya, I know you are used to tasting sulfur and ash cause everything in hell had horrible taste due to it." she chuckled "That is an understatement." he looked at her as he put noodles into the pot and stirred them "Its mac and cheese by the way" she watched him "What is that?" Sam looked at her "you don't know what mac and cheese is? did she not make you home cooked meals?" Zarya growled "She did more than you did." Sam continued stirring "That is a fair point." Zarya calmed down slightly "I'm sorry Sam" Sam shook his head "Don't be sorry to me Zarya, you did nothing wrong. you are the way you are because you didn't have me to teach you and if it takes you forever to forgive me then I'll accept it and still love you regardless cause you're my daughter." Zarya teared up but wiped her eyes aggressively with the back of her hand and looked at him "such a softy as I said," Sam smiled and continued stirring "at least I'm not the one almost crying." Zarya growled "Shut up. I'm not getting emotional; it's just hot in here from you cooking." Sam nodded lightly "Sure, blame the fact that I am cooking on you tearing up Zarya." she replied back "I will asshole"
Sam put a bowl of mac and cheese in front of her and made himself a bowl and sat at the counter. "Go ahead and eat Zarya" She looked at it as if it was poisoned "Is it safe to eat?" Sam looked at her "I'm not going to poison my own daughter." She smiled "you would be completely justified if you did to be fair." with that she finally took a spoon full and put it in her mouth and put the spoon back into the bowl as she chewed softly and when she swallowed, she audibly gasped "Holy Fuck! What am I tasting?" Sam laughed "Cheese sauce." She looked at him "I didn't know food could taste this damn good dad... Sam" She looked away after correcting herself, but Sam smiled softly "You don't have to be upset about calling me dad Zarya." She sighed "I'm not upset about calling you that Sam. I'm just scared about letting my walls down for you because I didn't have a dad for 18 years and now, I'm just supposed to let you be my dad after you haven't been in my life?" Sam looked at her "Zarya, I'm not expecting you to let me be your dad. if you want to keep calling me Sam, then I accept that from you till you're ready to call me dad." they ate in silence with Zarya audibly making sounds as she ate from how good human food tasted and not tasting ash and sulfur for the first time.
Sam started walking to his room and Zarya started walking towards the steps to the second floor to go to her room but stopped and looked back at Sam as he got to the master bedroom door and she hesitated but called out "Hey dad" Sam froze instantly and turned to look at her "Yeah, sweetheart?" She smiled softly "thank you for training me earlier and handling my snippiness" Sam shrugged "it's what parents do kiddo." she nodded "I'll try to be less snippy towards you, but please don't expect me to change overnight" Sam nodded "how can I expect my daughter to change overnight when she is as angry as I am." Zarya chuckled "I have your fire dad" she turned to walk upstairs leaving Sam with one last sentence "Good night dad" Sam watched her disappear upstairs before retreating to his room and once he closed the door, he teared up "yeah you have my fire sweetheart, but you have your mom's heart full of forgiveness when you shouldn't forgive me yet."
Chapter 4: Weight of the Legacy
Chapter Text
Zarya was in the training grounds the next morning trying to focus her attention on balancing her center. her mind was wandering to thoughts of her time in hell before Sam, before her mom passed and she growled, trying to force the thoughts out so they didn't eat at her. she tried to refocus, but a wind chime was going off which pissed her off and she grabbed a rock, throwing it at the wind chime. "Violence won't solve your frustration Zarya." Sam said as he caught the rock in his hand before it struck a window having missed the wind chime. She scoffed "Then teach me how to control my center then." Sam set the rock down in the rock bed "I would love to, but I have a meeting to attend to." She looked at him angrily "Is that why you are wearing a damn suit! Cause a meeting is more important than me learning how to balance my center?" Sam snapped his fingers making Zarya turn human, she wore a slick black suit with the Viscait pendant on it, her long black hair flowed, and she looked down at herself "What the fuck is this for?" Sam smiled and walked up to her and fixed her tie and sighed "if you are going to inherit all this one-day Zarya, you are going to have to learn all of it and I know it's all so sudden and I'm sorry but call it...Destiny?" Zarya laughed "Fuck Destiny, I don't want to go sit in a meeting with a bunch of random humans who don't know how small their little world is compared to ours Sam" Sam shrugged "Sadly, while I agree this is how we change the world for the better kiddo." She sighed "fine but only if you'll teach me how to control this stupid center of balance." Sam smiled "deal, but you may learn to love the business side of our life more than that balance." She looked at him "is our power really that bad?" Sam sighed "it's not bad sweetheart, it's just that there will always be those who want to destroy what we built, humans and entities" She scoffed "then we destroy them first." Sam looked at her, putting his hand on her shoulder "you have to do it the right way kiddo, or it throws the universal balance off. that's what the responsibility of god blood means to us."
Zarya followed him cautiously to the limo that waited for them, and she looked at him "Is it safe Sam?" Sam chuckled as the chauffeur walked over and bowed to him "Mr. Viscait good morning" Sam bowed back and said "good morning, Jack. this is my daughter Zarya Viscait." Jack bowed to her "oh the heir to Viscait Enterprises." Zarya looked at Sam as if asking what to do and Sam motioned to bow. She bowed and replied, "this is my first day learning about this so i wouldn't say I'm an heir yet." Jack laughed and said, "doesn't mean you won't be the heir one day, Sam is an amazing person, I mean hell half of his employees are former criminals that he thought deserved a second chance." Zarya looked at Sam out of anger as Sam motioned for her to get in the limo. She got in and sat on one of the leather seats and sighed as Sam got in and sat down on one. Jack closed the door and moments later the limo was moving. Zarya looked at Sam as he looked at his phone and she asked, "So second chance criminals huh?" Sam sighed and put his phone down "We going to do this right now?" Zarya glared at him "So I didn't deserve a second chance?" Sam looked at her "you're my daughter and my blood so while you do get more chances than others, I will tell you, you're over stepping." She growled "OVERSTEPPING?? I'M YOUR FUCKING DAUGHTER!!" Sam looked at her calmly before reaching to the small mini fridge and pulling out a whiskey bottle and pouring himself a shot and drinking it "it's going to be one of these kinds of days." Zarya snatched the whiskey from him and poured herself a shot and drank it "yeah one of these kinds of days." Sam looked at her as she looked away "you going to pout?" she didn't say anything but simply nodded causing Sam to laugh "yep my daughter alright." she replied to that "I guess I am after all." he chuckled "just promise you won't be a little chaos gremlin in the meeting." She looked at him and smiled "I will not promise you that dad" he nodded "I know you won't, cause that's what you are. My little chaos gremlin" She smiled "damn straight, now let's kill this meeting...I mean." Sam cut her off "proper word choice kiddo."
The limo pulled up to Viscait Enterprises and Jack opened the door allowing Sam and Zarya to get out and Sam bowed to Jack and Jack bowed back as Sam handed him a 100-dollar bill and said, "go have a proper dinner tonight with the wife Jack." Jack took it and smiled "thank you Mr. Viscait" he got in the limo and drove off as Zarya sighed "don't tell me I have to watch you be fake with everyone all day" Sam smiled "it's not being fake Zarya, this is who I am." they walked towards the revolving door as Sam smirked "go ahead." Zarya looked at the revolving door confused and asked, "how does it work?" Sam walked to the door and gently pushed it in a circle till he was inside, and he looked back at her. Zarya followed what he did but halfway around she realized how small she felt in the glass and sighed as she finally made it in and walked next to Sam "I hate that." Sam laughed "yeah but you looked adorable sweetheart." She smiled slightly as they walked up to the main desk and the receptionist stood and bowed "Mr. Viscait, hi." the receptionist looked at Zarya and asked, "is this your new assistant?" Zarya gave her a glare and said, "I'm not some assistant, I'm his daughter." The receptionist bowed to her "oh my apologies Ms. Viscait" Zarya looked at Sam in cringe at the formal name causing Sam bow to the receptionist and ask, "is any of my 10a.m clients here yet?" the receptionist shook her head "no, is there any specific room number you want the meeting in sir?" Sam looked at her "yeah, room 1, I know there are other meetings that are more important today than mine." the receptionist typed it in and nodded "good to go sir." Sam and Zarya walked towards the elevator and got in as Sam pressed the button, the elevator closed and started going up as Zarya sighed "I feel so out of place here Sam." he looked ahead "you will for a while kiddo, but you'll get used to it one day." she scoffed and looked ahead "I will hold you to that." Sam looked at her "we have a few more people to go talk to before the 10a.m meeting Zarya, is that ok?" She looked back "do I have a choice?" Sam chuckled "yes, but on this... no." She replied, "ok then."
They walked as Zarya asked "this stuff doesn't confuse you?" Sam shrugged "not really, it becomes more easier to understand as you stay within the business side of it." They arrived at a room and Sam knocked and a male's voice came "come in" They walked in, and the male smiled upon seeing Sam, standing and bowing to him "Oh it's you Mr. Viscait." he looked at Zarya "and who's this lady?" Zarya was nervous as Sam answered, "she's my daughter, how are the numbers looking Takashi?" Takashi bowed to Zarya "ah nice to meet you Ms. Viscait" he sat down and typed on the computer "all businesses are up 25% from last month, and I'm calculating if this business meeting goes good today and the negotiations go splendid then we will be looking at a 40% up next month, putting us well over the 100-billion-dollar range." Zarya looked at Sam confused "how did you make all this kind of money?" Takashi replied "oh well you see Sam here is cutthroat in the business world, he's a take no prisoner kind of businessman, I heard a story that when he inherited this whole empire his family tried to cut him out of it, and he threatened to sell all the deeds of their businesses to the lowest buyer for mere pennies." Sam laughed as Zarya looked at him "Inherited?" Takashi replied, "yes from his grandpa, if I don't recall." Zarya looked confused and left the room, she sat on a bench. Sam looked at Takashi and smiled "it's her first time in the business so give her time bud." he nodded "yes sir" he went back to work as Sam left the room and sat next to Zarya "you ready to go to the meeting room, it seems like you have a lot of questions for me, before the meeting." She nods and they stand and walk to the empty meeting room and Sam looks at the time "it's only 9:30am so you have about 15 to 20 minutes to ask any questions you have." Zarya looked at him "what does he mean when he says grandpa?" Sam sighed "they are referring to this vessel's grandpa. they don't know what I am Zarya, or who my real father is, they only know who the human Sam Viscait's parents and grandparents are." Zarya looked at him "so this vessel?" Sam looked at her "isn't my real vessel."
Zarya processed this and looked at him "will you let me see it one day?" Sam looked at her "what my real vessel?" she simply nodded, and he looked at her before looking out the window overlooking the city and sighed "I'm afraid it's not that easy kiddo." She replied with a question "why not?" Sam looked at her over his shoulder "its sealed away in a pocket realm where no one can find it except me." Zarya stood next to him "I take it, you sealing it away means it's dangerous?" he nodded lightly "yeah, yeah its dangerous Zarya. Lucifer used it as a tool back when I was a good little soldier to him, back when he was the mad king, I heard now a days he's more a recluse and lives with depression, making ducks of all things... that's not the guy I knew." Zarya looked at him "have you ever tried to talk to him?" Sam laughed maniacally "Talk? to Lucifer? that's a good one sweetheart, why would I do that?" Zarya replied " to tell him how you feel?" Sam sighed "it goes far beyond feelings kiddo." She asked, "will you tell me one day?" Sam looked at the time "one day I will when I'm not trying to teach you the weight of our legacy Zarya." he took his seat, and she sat at the seat next to him as people in suits walked in and took their seats as well.
Sam stood and shook the CEO's hand of a different company and they both sat down, Zarya watched the handshake with curiosity on why Sam would stoop to a human's level, but she didn't say anything, but he felt her gaze on him. a lawyer looked at Sam and said, "my client John and the rest of the Dominion Exports would like to offer to bring in products for your family to sell at a rate of only 20%" Zarya listened to the numbers and looked at Sam as Sam processed the numbers in his head and looked back at the board, John smiled and nudged his lawyer cause he had Sam on the ropes. Sam pulled out his phone and made a phone call "Hey Takashi, pull up the stocks in Dominion Exports for me." John and his other members face paled as Sam said, "okay Takashi, now I want you to crunch the numbers if I bought it." he listened as Zarya's face looked concerned as she's never seen Sam like this. Sam replied, "so you're saying if I bought it, I'd be only paying around 100 million to be the majority shareholder?" he looked at John and his associates and said, "I'm one more questionable sales pitch away from just being the majority shareholder of Dominion and then the first thing I'd do is put my daughter here as the CEO of it and fire you John." John stumbled "but she's a female, does she even know how our world works, she seems confused by your demeanor for someone who's your daughter." John's lawyer leaned over and whispered to John, and he whispered back before his lawyer looked at Sam "how about 35% sell rate?" Sam put Takashi on speaker and asked, "crunch where 35% would put us Takashi." Zarya inside was trying to process this all as Takashi said, "it would but us at a 37% increase next month sir." Sam looked at the lawyer "ask your client if he will do 45% and to stop staring at me like I'm the devil or I will buy Dominion Exports and fire him as the Ceo." the lawyer leaned over to John who was pale and whispered to him and John sighed and nodded and the lawyer said "Dominion Exports will gladly do 45%" Sam nodded and stood and shook their hands and said "now get the hell out of my office." he ended the call with Takashi who heard the whole thing as the reps of Dominion Exports left. Sam looked over at Zarya "you, ok?" She looked at him confused "I... I what did I just witness?" Sam smiled "your destiny."
Zarya was quiet on the way home while Sam was on his phone looking at metrics that Takashi sent over, all of this was foreign to her. she never thought she'd be on earth learning from the one person she spent 18 years not knowing at all and she didn't know this was how he was, he was caring but she saw how he is in business, and it scared her... but also excited her that he would be the one to teach her instead of who she'd have to go up against. she looked over at him and asked, "hey dad?" Sam set his phone down and looked at her softly "yes sweetheart?" She sighed "That was terrifying but also badass." he smiled, and she continued "will you teach me that one day?" he nodded "yeah, cause one day you will be the Ceo of Viscait Enterprises, and they will all fear you and respect you like they do me." she smiled. when they got home in the limo, Zarya practically jumped out before the door opened and bowed to jack "thank you for the lift home, Jack" he bowed in return as she walked toward the side yard where the training ground was." Sam got out and looked at Jack who asked, "she okay?" Sam nodded slightly "she will be one day; she got a taste of how the business works and I'm proud of her for keeping her composure as much as she did." he bowed to Jack and Jack bowed in return before closing the door and getting in the limo and driving off as Sam walked to the training ground and looked at Zarya back in her hellhound form and trying to balance her center and Sam walked over and fixed her hand placement and covered her eyes "focus" Zarya did as instructed and a burst of energy came out and hit the ground next to them and Sam smiled "you're centering your balance sweetheart" she smiled and moved his hand to look at the burn mark on the ground from her energy blast. "I'm doing it" he nodded "that's my chaos gremlin." She hugged him and he hugged her in return, neither of them meaning to as they instantly pulled away and both said "I'm sorry"
Chapter 5: Weight of Blood
Chapter Text
Sam sat on the couch, Zarya looked at him from the kitchen and asked, "so what happened that made you hate lucifer?" her tail swayed causing Sam to sigh "you are not going to let me avoid that question, are you? She smiled "no, I'm not cause in the end he would be my grandfather, so I want to know why you hate him so much so I can also hate him." Sam looked at her "it was 10000 years ago he made me do something that would change the landscape of hell forever." Zarya tilted her head "how old even are you?" Sam smirked "sweetheart, do you have any guesses?" Zarya replied "I was thinking centuries, not...ancient. your old as dirt" Sam laughed "understatement of the year. I'm as old as the universe itself." She looked at him stunned "how?" Sam replied "I was supposed to be in the garden of Eden with Adam and Eve and some other woman, but Lucifer came into the garden and saw me and well curiosity killed the cat because he touched me and well, he almost killed me. he was so scared but come to find out he changed me into what I am." Zarya replied "A hellhound?" Sam shook his head "no, I'm a heaven hound" She looked at him "the fuck?" Sam chuckled "trust me, the story is long like I said, but it was this incident that made God happy, he wanted Lucifer to go make a sister location to Heaven and well God didn't account for one thing." she looked at him "what didn't he account for?" Sam replied "the other angels, the ones he gave the order to, to give to Lucifer, they decided to cast him out instead and upon Lucifer hearing this he rebelled and that went exactly how you would think cause God found out about Lucifers rebellion and formally cast him out and well the other angels kicked me out with him along with those who followed in Lucifers belief that he didn't do wrong." Zarya scoffed "that's so fucked up, but that doesn't tell me why you hate him." Sam replied, "I had a sister Cyprus, up until 10000 years ago when she revolted and fled to earth, Lucifer was pissed and used me as the tool to find her, but he didn't account for the lethal disease he had inserted into me." Sam stood and looked out the back window.
Zarya walked over to stand next to him "so I had an aunt?" Sam replied "you have an aunt in hell named Zora, the one you met at the bar, when you came to find me. Cyprus was more like a sister to you than me." She looked at him confused "I created Cyprus, the original hellhound. God she was every bit of blunt and stubborn as you are, but she was my creation, and I was the tool to kill her, that's why I hate lucifer, and because what happened after that." she looked at him with a playful growl but still serious "Like a sister? also, I'm not stubborn or blunt... actually I am blunt" Sam laughed "after Cyprus died, all hellhounds sired to her, so basically all of them died at the same time. Lucifer in a panic asked me to do something when I came back but I didn't even say anything to him, I watched as smugglers hauled dead hellhounds away cause their fangs and claws are worth a pretty penny on the hell market, despite it being outlawed by the deadly sins. but Lucifer went and made Cerberus and now only a few hellhounds are around out there since Lucifer keeps Cerberus locked up in the castle." Zarya looked at him "I thought you revolted against him shortly after Cyprus died?" Sam nodded "I did, I came here to earth and been here for the past 10000 years and honestly it's been amazing sort of." She looked at him "what do you mean sort of?" He looked at her "well I've been in every human battle and have watched civilizations come and go." she replied "So how does that make it a sort of?" Sam replied "one of the rules was not to use humans for our benefit and I never have; I've always paid them and done things the right way but during a battle some of the angels got pissed with me down here in earth and they made a human do something. They made a dagger; birch handle laced with garlic and enchanted and gave it to a kid no less and the kid stabbed me in the chest and put me in a 200-year coma, yeah, I was basically dead for 200 years and I'm telling you there is one place you don't want to go." she growled but looked at him with concern "where?" Sam looked at her softly "The void" it sent a chill through the room as she looked nervous.
She looked at him "the void? what was it like" he smiled lightly "nothingness, a place where cosmic beings go when they die." She walked over to the fridge and opened it, grabbing a soda. she opened it and took a drink as Sam walked over and opened his whiskey cabinet. he grabbed a shot glass and a bottle of whiskey, pouring some and drinking the glass as Zarya asked "and were you alone there?" Sam thought for a moment "I mean when cosmic entities die, they go there for eternal rest. but." she asked, "but what?" he chuckled "Something was not happy with me being there and not fully dead." She went eye wide "what was it?" Sam replied, "The Nothing" Zarya grabbed the whiskey bottle from him "The Nothing? and you're here talking to me?" he looked at her "yeah, I've seen what happens when a cosmic being wakes up when they aren't supposed to." She asked, "what happens?" he handed her a shot glass, and she poured herself a shot and downed it as he replied, "it devours and makes the universe forget them." that made her blood run cold and her body shivered as her fur stood up "Devoured? as in" he continued for her "as in it consumes their very being, makes them nothing in the universes book. never to be recreated" She shuddered "how did you escape?" he looked into the living room and out the back window at the sky "I don't believe in miracles; I'm not one to pray to God cause after all they cast me out of heaven with lucifer but for some reason God sent Michael." Zarya gasped "Michael? The arch angel?" Sam nodded "yeah, that Michael and he told me that there was a way for me to get out of the void, but it required a deal." She looked at him questioningly "what kind of deal?" Sam replied, "one day I'd do what I always said I'd do after Cyprus death... Kill Lucifer and take my throne." she looked at him "Kill Lucifer?" he nodded "and I accepted, and God allowed Michael to interfere with humans to bring me back. he didn't force me back, but he made a trail for 5 teenagers to follow, and they found my tomb and pulled the dagger out and brought me back." She looked at him, but Sam continued "and when I woke up, I tore them apart" She frowned "but you got to come back" He replied "I always swore I would never kill kids." she looked at him shocked by that revelation.
Sam sat at the counter and Zarya sat next to him, and they sat in silence, both pouring whiskey into their shot glasses and drinking them. Zarya broke the silence and said softly "killing them doesn't define you dad, you've been alive for a very long time and stayed true to yourself for all this time. your moral compass is high in that regard." Sam looked over at her "thank you for that kiddo." She teased "but your moral compass on having kids and then abandoning them is very low." Sam laughed "low blow kiddo" She smiled "I had to bring up your mood so you're not always moping about like usual." He grinned "not moping, I'm observing from a corner." She retorted back "most call that being a stalker, but you can call it observing if it helps you sleep at night." He glared at her "are you sure you're mine?" She grinned at that "100% cause mom was very detailed on the night I was conceived, and you are the only one who fits that description dad." he raised his hands "for both of our sake I don't need a reminder of how rough I was with your mom that night." Zarya gagged playfully "and then you go and say that kind of shit." They both laughed softly, and she laid her head on his shoulder, Sam gently hugged her close and whispered "I hope one day I can leave this world better than I was brought into it. leave you with something that one day you can leave to someone important." She replied, her eyes closed "I'm not letting you go anywhere anytime soon dad." he nodded but she raised her head and looked at him "can you promise me?" he looked into her eyes, his hazel eyes locking with her soft crimson eyes "I" She smiled lightly "it's ok dad if you can't promise me that." Sam shook his head "I promise, I'll be here till you no longer need me sweetheart, till I've overstayed my welcome and this world decides I'm no longer needed." Zarya choked up at that but stayed strong "then you better be ready to stay around a long-time cause I'm not letting you go anytime soon." He nodded "ok kiddo, I'll be ready for the long haul." She got up and hugged him lightly "I'm going to go train dad." he smiled "ok." she walked out of the mansion towards the training ground.
Zarya put her paws together and closed her eyes, her focus on everything she just learned. she drifted off and found herself in a different place entirely... her mind. she followed a whisper till it arrived at an apartment complex, and she recognized it instantly as her childhood home. she walked in and made her way to her apartment and went to open the door, but her mom opened it first causing Zarya to gasp and look at her, her mom smiled "hey sweetheart." Zarya hugged her mom and cried into her as her mom hugged her back softly "it's okay sweetheart." Zarya looked up at her gently "can I come in?" her mom moved to the couch and sat down, Zarya closed the door and sat next to her as her mom asked, "did you find what you were looking for?" Zarya smiled softly "I'd like to think so, I didn't think he would be like how you described him." her mom laughed "is that a good thing or a bad thing?" Zarya replied "He is my father 100% like you said when you described him down to the details of his personality." her mom looked at her "I'm glad you got to find him and not be alone and full of hate sweetheart, but." Zarya looked at her "but what?" Her mom replied, "With how many other kids he probably has out there in hell, not all of them are going to be happy to find him like you were, most are going to be full of hate." Zarya growled "then I'll stand by him and defeat them, I won't allow myself to lose him after just gaining him." her mom stood up and walked over to a hospital bed and laid on it and looked at Zarya as she stood and walked over. "What is this?" her mom smiled "this was the day I died, and you ran away instead of being here for my last breath." Zarya looked at her "no, that's bullshit. I held your hand and told you it was okay to go." Her mom's face turned sinister "or is that just a fantasy you tell yourself to make you feel better about it?" Zarya growled and looked down at her "I know for damn sure what happened that day." Zarya started glowing as she came to back in the training ground and sent an energy blast which Sam felt from inside the mansion. He ran out "Zarya?"
Sam stopped when he spotted Zarya sitting on the ground crisscross holding a small bundle of fur in her arms. he spotted the soft crimson eyes and sat down himself and looked at her "So you created life huh?" She looked up at him lightly "I don't even know what happened, I just got lost in my mind and it just happened." He smiled "that proves you are my daughter, no need for either of us to doubt who your father is anymore." she laughed "I never expected or wanted to be a mother" Sam nodded "sometimes that weight that its happening hits harder than the moment itself. but I'm not shocked that you did it Zarya." She looked down at the small bundle of fur "I have a beautiful daughter dad." Sam smiled "what are you going to name her?" she rubbed the little pup's head fur softly "Ashka... Ashka Viscait." Sam walked over and sat next to her and hugged her lightly "it's a perfect name for her, I see you made her fur black and white like a border collie." She looked at him "what's a border collie?" Sam laughed "it's a dog breed sweetheart. I can't believe not even your first week on earth and you're already creating life before figuring out how to live here amongst the humans." Zarya scoffed "guess I decided to speedrun life." Sam laughed "you decided to put your roots into earth Zarya, means you're deciding to live your life here." She nodded and looked down at Ashka who nuzzled into Zarya causing her to melt and look at Sam "she's mine." he nodded "you deserve this moment kiddo, a moment to not feel so awkward here on earth. but." She looked at him "but what?" he replied, "were going to have to train her to be strong and smart or our enemies will always target her." Zarya growled causing Ashka to whine as Zarya said "I'll kill anyone that tries to harm her dad." Sam looked at her and for once he could agree with something. "Damn straight we will" She smiled and leaned into him. "You want to hold her?" Sam looked concerned but Zarya put Ashka into his arms causing him to stiffen up as Zarya laughed. Sam looked down at Ashka who nuzzle into his suit jacket as he melted softly which caused Zarya to look at him softly "softie." He growled playfully "fine I admit it; I'm a big softie for the kids." Zarya smiled "you're going to be the best grandpa to her." Sam smiled softly "she's going to be spoiled." Zarya replied "yes my little spark will be."
Chapter 6: The Wild Spark
Chapter Text
Sam sat stiff as a statue with Ashka curled into his jacket. The longer she nestled, the more his shoulders sank until the coat wasn’t armor anymore—just fabric holding him together. His thumb brushed once over her back fur like he’d done it a thousand times before. Zarya noticed. She noticed everything. “You’re ridiculous,” she muttered, trying to hide the smile tugging at her mouth. “Big scary Sam Viscait, undone by a pup not even an hour old.” Sam shot her a look. “Don’t start.” “Oh, I’m starting,” Zarya said, leaning back on her palms. “You went from growling and glaring to… that.” She gestured at him melting, at Ashka burrowing deeper into his chest like he was warmth itself. “Softie.” He snorted. “Fine. I admit it. I’m a softie for kids.” The words landed in Zarya’s chest like a stone thrown into still water. She laughed—sharp, quick—but the sound carried something brittle. For kids, huh? Her smile lingered, but her eyes drifted away from him. Sam caught it. Of course he caught it. Eighteen years apart, and he could still read the quiet storm in her shoulders. He almost said something, almost broke the moment open—but instead he adjusted Ashka in his arms and muttered, “Don’t get used to it. She’s the exception.” “Right.” Zarya’s voice thinned, almost breaking before she forced it steady. “The exception.” She crossed her arms like armor and smirked, though it didn’t reach her eyes. “Guess I’ll settle for watching you spoil my daughter.” Sam’s jaw tightened, the line between teasing and guilt flashing in his eyes. “Zarya…” He started, then stopped, because explanations never sounded right from him. Ashka whined, shifting, and the sound cut through the silence like mercy. Sam rocked her gently, and Zarya watched the motion with something caught in her throat—envy and pride, grief and hope, all tangled up.
Hours later, the estate was quiet except for the soft sounds of new life. Zarya sat on the floor, legs pulled up, Ashka sprawled across her lap. Every so often the pup twitched, paws kicking at phantom dreams. Zarya brushed her fur, steady, careful. “You’d think for something I made, she’d be less… unpredictable,” Zarya muttered. “Welcome to parenthood,” Sam replied from the chair, arms crossed, head tilted back. He didn’t look tired, but Zarya knew he hadn’t slept. “They don’t follow orders. They write their own.” Zarya rolled her eyes. “Oh, what would you know?” Sam cracked a grin. “About raising stubborn girls? Absolutely nothing.” She threw him a look sharp enough to cut steel. He held it with a smirk, and for a second it felt almost normal—like this banter was something they’d always had. Until it wasn’t. “You weren’t there,” she said before she could stop herself. The words slipped out low, bitter, like blood from a wound reopened. The smirk died on his face. “Zarya…” “Eighteen years,” she whispered, looking back down at Ashka so she didn’t have to meet his eyes. “And now you sit here rocking her like it’s second nature. Like you didn’t miss my entire life.” Sam’s silence was heavy. His hand twitched against the arm of the chair like he wanted to reach for her but knew it wouldn’t be enough. “You deserved better,” he said finally, voice rough. Zarya let out a short, humorless laugh. “At least she’ll get it. She’ll get the version of you I never had.” Sam leaned forward, elbows on his knees, watching her with something that looked like pain he didn’t know how to wear. “You think I wouldn’t undo that if I could?” “You can’t,” Zarya snapped, sharper than she meant. Ashka stirred, whined. Immediately, Zarya softened her tone, stroking her fur. “You can’t.” Sam nodded once. No argument, no excuse. Just the weight of truth between them.
When Ashka finally woke, she yawned wide enough to show off her tiny teeth and sneezed. A small ember flickered from her nose before vanishing. Zarya’s eyes widened. Sam’s eyebrows lifted. “Well,” Sam said, leaning back. “That’s new.” Zarya hugged Ashka tighter against her chest. “She’s mine,” she said again, more fiercely this time. “She won’t be a weapon, not for anyone. Not even for you.” Sam studied her, then chuckled softly, a tired, knowing sound. “Relax, kiddo. I’m not stealing her from you. I’ve had enough of losing my daughters.” The words hung there, raw and unguarded. Zarya blinked, stunned by the crack in his voice. She looked down at Ashka again, refusing to let the tears forming sting their way out. Sam stood, stretching. “Get some rest. Tomorrow, we start figuring out what she is.” Zarya scoffed. “She’s a pup. My pup. That’s what she is.” Sam smirked faintly. “And you’re my kid. Didn’t stop you from turning into hell on two legs.” Zarya rolled her eyes, but a ghost of a smile touched her lips. She shifted Ashka higher into her arms and curled protectively around her, letting Sam’s footsteps fade into the silence. When she was sure he was gone, Zarya whispered into Ashka’s fur: “My little spark… you’ll never know what it’s like to grow up alone.” Ashka made a small noise, content and certain, and for the first time since setting foot on Earth, Zarya believed her own words
Ashka’s breathing steadied, small and even, her head tucked into the crook of Zarya’s arm. For a moment the estate felt too quiet, like even the walls held their breath around her. Sam lingered in the doorway, his coat draped across one arm, watching with that unreadable stillness he wore like a second skin. “You should rest too,” he said at last, his voice low so it didn’t disturb the pup. Zarya shook her head, eyes fixed on Ashka’s tiny chest rising and falling. “If I close my eyes, I’ll miss something. She needs me.” “She’s asleep,” Sam pointed out. “She’s not planning a heist.” Zarya shot him a glare, though it was dulled by the exhaustion pulling at her. “Don’t joke.” He lifted one brow. “Who’s joking?” For a moment, despite herself, the corner of her mouth twitched. But it vanished as quickly as it came. She bent and laid Ashka carefully on the couch, adjusting a folded blanket so her fur brushed warmth on all sides. The pup sighed once and didn’t stir again.
Zarya lingered, reluctant to move. Then she finally straightened and slipped toward the balcony doors, needing air more than she needed rest. Sam followed. The night was cool, a breeze brushing the city lights below into wavering reflections. Zarya gripped the railing, knuckles white, the glow of the skyline painting her in faint silver. For a while, neither spoke. It wasn’t silence—it was everything they hadn’t said yet, coiled tight between them. Finally, Zarya’s voice broke it, quiet but cutting. “You hold her like you’ve done it all before.” Sam leaned against the rail; his eyes fixed on the horizon. “Maybe I have.” The words sharpened something in her chest. “But not with me.” Sam’s jaw worked, silent. Zarya turned to him, crimson eyes burning. “Eighteen years. You weren’t there when I cried. You weren’t there when I bled. You weren’t there for anything. And now—now—you’re standing here rocking my daughter like it’s second nature.” Her voice cracked, fury and grief tangled until they were indistinguishable. “Why does she get that side of you and I never did?” Sam didn’t flinch, but his face bore it like a wound. He exhaled slowly; a sound dragged from deep inside. “Because I failed you.” “No excuses?” Zarya asked, almost daring him. “None that matter.” His voice was rough, steady but tired. “You deserved better. You always did.” Her fists tightened on the railing. She wanted to scream, to demand more, to crack him open until he hurt the way she had. Instead, her throat burned with words she couldn’t force past her teeth. “You don’t get to fix it now,” she whispered. Sam’s head turned, hazel eyes meeting hers in the dark. “I know.” The honesty in it—simple, unadorned—stung worse than any excuse would have. Zarya looked back toward the couch inside, where Ashka slept soundly, a spark born into the world without knowing its scars. Her voice softened, but the tremor in it gave her away. “She won’t grow up like I did. I’ll make sure of it.” Sam pushed away from the railing, straightening. His words came quiet, almost reluctant. “And I’ll make sure you don’t have to do it alone.” Zarya closed her eyes. The anger was still there, but beneath it was something more dangerous hope trying to claw its way through the cracks. She didn’t answer. She couldn’t. Instead, she turned and went back inside to where Ashka dreamed unbothered, her little spark glowing in the dark.
Sam stayed on the balcony, staring into the night like it might give him the absolution he knew he’d never earn. he sighed, looking up towards the heavens and frowned "maybe this is punishment for my past sins, huh" He walked inside, past Zarya's room where she had moved Ashka and laid next to her. He watched for a moment than continued walking until he got to the stairs and walked down them. he moved along the hallway and into the kitchen. he went to unlock the whiskey cabinet and stopped, moving to the fridge and grabbing a bottle of water and downing it. he grabbed another bottle and moved to his indoor gym and set the water bottle down, putting weights on the weight bar and he laid back on the weight bench and did reps with the weighs. after a while he stopped and sat up when he heard a footstep. "hey" Zarya's voice was soft. Sam looked at her "you, okay?" she sighed "no, I'm still bothered by it all Sam, but I am glad you're trying to be a better grandpa than you were as my dad. Why are you working out so much?" Sam stood and grabbed the bottle of water "I'm not the only one who felt that massive power surge when you created her Zarya, others will come for her, and I'll need to be ready to fight them." Her face grew serious as she replied, "we will be ready for them Dad, but we will also have to train her how to control her abilities." He nodded and smiled "Damn straight we will need to train her to control her abilities, but." Zarya replied "But what?" He looked at her "we also need to keep training you cause if you had the energy to do that than I can only imagine how unlimited the universe is for you but also we need to seal away that corrupt part of you." Her expression faltered "Corruption?" He sighed "all god blood have a darker side to them, I know you feel it when you look at her Zarya. That pull you feel to use her, it's what others will feel. Thats why we have to seal away your corruption" She looked at him with a serious expression "Do you have a Corrupted side?"
Chapter 7: The Shadows of Blood
Chapter Text
Sam walked up to Zarya's room and looked at Ashka's small pup form laying on the bed. "she's adorable when she sleeps." Zarya's heart melted as she watched her sleep "She really is Sam." He snapped his fingers making a crib appear and he positioned it, picking up Ashka and placing her gently in it. "I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving her on the bed while were not physically here in the room with her." Zarya nodded "I get it, thanks dad but you never answered my question about your corrupted form." he snapped his fingers, a portal opening up behind them causing her to jump "What the Fuck is that?" He looked at her "you asked about my corrupted form." She sighed "these damn portals will never get old you know?" he laughed at that "oh I know that all too well kiddo." he stepped through the portal and Zarya gave Ashka a little kiss on the forehead which caused Ashka to move slightly. Zarya stepped through the portal and looked around the darkness "Where are we Sam?" He tapped on the wall and said, "its two-way glass with magic properties to it." She looked confused "why does it have magical properties to it?" He replied, "If I didn't and you saw it with your two eyes, the sight of it would kill you from the inside." She looked nervous "It?"
A low growl came and Zarya spotted light, faint through something then she spotted it, the massive blood orange eye staring at her from the other side of the glass causing her to jump back "What the fuck is that?" Sam and the form outside spoke at the same time "Me" She looked at him scared "Thats you? your corrupted form?" He replied, "my true form but it's also mostly corrupted due to all the traumas." the massive form moved from the curled position finally revealing to Zarya its two-hundred-foot build with 3 heads, but what caught her eyes was the scenery around them, "Where are we?" Sam pointed out at the green fields and mountains "were in a pocket realm outside the universe, I discovered this realm one day while exploring and well since I couldn't bring my full soul into this vessel. I decided to only put a small part of my soul into this vessel." Zarya looked at him "wait so that houses what the other 80 percent of you?" He nodded and looked at her, but the middle head of the 3 heads spoke "think of me like this. if I roamed your precious universe any longer than I did as my father's justice system, the world wouldn't have survived long enough and besides if I put my whole soul in a human vessel, it'd have been catastrophic.... think nuclear." Zarya looked at it and asked, "you were hell's justice system? when Lucifer was the mad king of hell?" the middle head nodded and looked towards the mountains "I was judge, jury and executioner while he claimed all of hell as his own." Zarya listened and looked over at the human vessel of Sam's and saw him zoned out as if he was allowing them to talk and not interrupt. The middle head looked at the human form and sighed "humans are weak, but in the end, God made them to be our salvation. your daughter Ashka will be the reason all of us get saved in the end." The left head spoke with sarcasm "Come on, she needs to be criticized not told the future of her kid." Zarya's throat tightened "what do you mean criticized?" The left head chuckled "you know what I am referring to. The human Sam can't read everyone's life, but I can and that includes his children." She replied, "what do you see?"
"you're torn on whether to trust him or not, whether he will hurt you again or not. Sam isn't like that Zarya but I'm seeing a memory of yours that you won't tell him ever will you." Zarya's throat caught "you don't need to say it..." The left head looked at her and grinned "Are you sure?" She growled in return "I am sure." The right head spoke up in a semi goofy voice but serious tone "I think we should hear your sins since your quick to throw shade at Sam for abandoning you... like you did to your mom on her death bed." Zarya frowned "SHUT UP!!" The left head chuckled "there it is. you chastise us for abandoning you, but you abandoned your mother when she needed you while she was on her death bed." Zarya teared up "And I feel guilty every damn day; I remember her voice in my head saying my name as I grabbed my bag and left the apartment, I was tired of being the one to take care of her and not getting any help." The left head shook its head "and you think it's okay that you criticize Sam for something he did when what you did was far worse than his abandonment. cause in the end he didn't know you existed, did he?" she shook her head, but the left head replied, "but you knew about him and got tired of your mom on her deathbed and abandoned her." she started speaking but the right head cut her off "NO EXCUSES FOR YOUR ACTIONS!!" She cowered as the middle head looked at both left and right head and growled "Calm down now! its apparent she feels guilty for it, she will always feel that in her mind, but she will also always feel like Sam abandoned her even if he didn't know she existed." Zarya sat against the glass and pulled her knees up to her chest and cried into her hands "I'm Sorry mom, I'm so Sorry for leaving you like that." She felt a hand on her shoulder, and she looked up and saw Human Sam and he sat next to her and held her into his side, but she hugged him and buried her face into his chest "I left her to die." Sam rubbed her back "Don't let that dictate how your life is Zarya, you were with her for 18 years and that's longer than most sinners and demons stay with their parent's. most kill their parents after a certain age, so you are far better off than those demons." She sniffled into him and looked up at him "Really?" he nodded "you're my daughter, Me nor your mom will hate you for leaving while she was on her death bed. I told you my true form isn't the nicest creature." he snapped opening the portal, him and Zarya walking through it and reappearing in her room. Zarya walked over to Ashka's crib and looked down at the sleeping pup and sighed "She's going to be special it said." Sam put his hand on the crib "I don't doubt that." Zarya smiled and rested her head on his shoulder. "Thank you for showing me that dad."
He nodded and left the room as Zarya laid in bed to go to sleep. Sam closed the door and walked to the kitchen and sat at the counter and put his hands on his forehead "fuck, that's brutal kiddo." he went to his room and closed the door and went to sleep. He woke hours later to clanking and stepped out of the room and spotted Zarya trying to create baby formula and Sam snapped creating a can of baby formula causing her to jump "Fucking Damn it." Ashka whined at Zarya's outburst which made Sam teleport upside down, hanging from the ceiling. him and Zarya locking eyes "I didn't do that Sam." They looked at Ashka who laughed at Zarya's facial reaction as Sam teleported to be normally on the ground "It seems were going to have a massive prankster on our hands" Zarya laughed at that comment and replied, "that's going to be your issue honestly. since she's going to have your chaotic earth energy." Sam smiled and walked over to Zarya and made a hellhound pup bottle appear and filled it and picked up Ashka and walked over to the couch and sat on it and started feeding her, Zarya watched. her expression one of envy and happiness as Sam said, "come over here." Zarya walked over and sat next to him and leaned into him and closed her eyes and purred contently." Sam rubbed Zarya's head fur gently and continued feeding Ashka, he set the hellhound pup bottle down and watched as Ashka and Zarya, one his granddaughter, the other his daughter, both passed out against him, and he smiled lightly. "I love you both." he whispered, both stirring slightly but not waking up.
Sam woke the next morning, neither Ashka nor Zarya near him. he walked around the mansion, but they weren't there. he stepped outside and walked to the training ground and spotted Zarya focusing on her energy as Ashka laid in her crib. "how's focusing?" Zarya looked at him "it's going decent. I think I'm getting better at it, you were sleeping peacefully, and I didn't want to disturb you so I brought Ashka out here so I can train, and she can be in my view so you could rest dad." Sam sat next to Zarya and smiled "Kiddo, she is both our responsibility. we both will have to train her into being like us... even if she will hate the long tedious training journey." Zarya laughed "true but you two are going to have that perfect Grandpa and Granddaughter bond." Sam chuckled "as long as I don't end up upside down again, I'm fine with whatever she does to me." Zarya laughed "than you better get her back if she pranks you dad." Sam looked at her "are you saying I'm going to have a prank war with my granddaughter?" She nodded which Sam smiled at, but Zarya replied "I'm glad she will get that kind of love and support dad. I know I may seem jealous and that, and maybe I am but I care more about how my daughter is treated." Sam nodded "Zarya, I'm trying to play 18 years of catch up and trying to learn how to be a grandpa. both are difficult things to learn and one day you will be a grandma to Ashka's pups." Zarya sighed and looked at the mansion causing Sam to ask, "What's wrong?" She replied "I just, I want her nearby. you know? I don't want her to move out and leave us here by ourselves, even if she moves a guy in here than that's ok for me as long as this family is still under one roof." Sam smiled "you going to lock her in her room when she's older and that happens?" Zarya smiled "Damn right I am, I will ban her from dating if that's the case Sam" they both laughed and looked at Ashka who looked back at them understanding that they were talking about her and saying her name.
Chapter 8: The Spark of Mischief
Chapter Text
Zarya sat in the training ground focusing on her center, unbeknownst to her Ashka was mimicking her. Zarya created a wheel and Ashka made a trap. Sam stepped out of the mansion and got caught in the trap and he yelled "God Damn It Spark." Zarya picked up Ashka and ran to the front of the mansion and looked at Sam who was hanging upside down and chuckled "I'm starting to think you like being upside down dad." Sam looked at her and the pup and sighed "She's definitely your daughter Zarya." Zarya set Ashka down and helped Sam down from the trap and laughed "She's your granddaughter." Sam kneeled Infront of Ashka and replied, "and if she doesn't stop with the pranks, I'm going to prank her back." Ashka sneezed which created confetti causing Sam to look at Zarya "you know with how much she's growing; we're going to have to start planning on training her to control her powers." Zarya nodded "I know and it scares me, do you actually think people and gods will try to use her powers for evil?" Sam nodded and replied "It's almost certain kiddo, she's powerful at this young age. I can only imagine how powerful she will be when she's an adult." Zarya kneeled next to them and looked at Ashka "Ceo of Viscait Enterprise one day." Sam laughed "my condolences to the staff cause she's going to be a big prankster." Ashka giggled in response causing Sam to smile softly. Zarya looked at him "You're a big softie for her, you know that?" he nodded and said, "I mean this is my first grandchild, so I mean I kind of have to be a big softie for her, I'm never going to let anyone hurt her." Zarya put her paw on Sam's shoulder "I'm glad you're her grandfather dad. if anyone is going to hurt her, they will have the scariest man alive to face off with." Sam chuckled "damn straight." he ruffled Ashka's head fur which she purred at. Sam picked her up and stood, Zarya stood as well as Ashka nuzzling into Sam's arms and he carried her inside so she wouldn't get sick from the cold." Zarya watched Sam wrap Ashka with a small blanket and asked, "you worried she will get sick?" Sam replied, "We don't know what the prophecy my true form means." She nodded and touched Ashka's cheek and sighed "your right we don't know what it meant but we both know she'll be a very strong Viscait regardless."
Months slipped into years, and the little pup who once sneezed sparks and confetti was changing faster than either of them could prepare for. Ashka's once tiny frame had stretched out, her black-and-white fur pattern settling into something sharp and striking that reminded Sam of Zarya every time he looked at her. The crib was long gone, replaced with a bed she rarely stayed in because she was always dashing through the mansion halls or dragging blankets across the floor to build forts in the living room. Her glowing blood-orange eyes burned brighter with every laugh and every outburst of energy, always betraying how much raw power simmered inside her even when she tried to play innocent. Zarya often caught herself watching too long, struggling to accept how quickly her daughter was leaving the pup stage behind. She had sworn she would never let Ashka grow up lonely, and yet each new day made her realize how short the time really was. Sam teased constantly about "grandpa catch-up," swearing that she had more chaotic energy than even he'd had in his prime, but the truth was he never minded chasing her across the estate. The mansion bore the scars of her mischief — singed doorframes, cracked tiles from energy bursts, and one particularly blackened training dummy that still smoked when the wind hit it just right. Yet every time Sam or Zarya thought they might lose their patience, Ashka's giggle melted the frustration into something else entirely. The Viscait name had gained a new storm, and she was growing into it faster than anyone could keep pace.
Zarya leaned against the rail at the edge of the training ground, her arms crossed as she watched Ashka dart back and forth across the grass. The pup who once stumbled over her own paws now moved with a reckless grace, her laughter ringing out like sparks flying off steel. Ashka had conjured another wheel of energy—sloppy, unstable, but bright—and she was chasing it like it was the most important game in the world. Zarya's lips curled into a smile, though the weight in her chest only grew heavier. Every time Ashka stumbled and got back up, every time she laughed after a burst of smoke or a failed spark, Zarya couldn't stop thinking about how quickly it was all going by. Sam walked out behind her, hands in his jacket pockets, his eyes following the little whirlwind. "She's getting better at that," he said, nodding at the glowing wheel wobbling across the ground. "She's growing up too fast," Zarya replied softly, almost to herself. Sam chuckled. "That's what kids do. One minute you're cleaning up confetti sneezes, the next they're running laps around you." Zarya shot him a look, the corner of her mouth twitching. "You sound too smug about it." "Not smug," Sam said, stepping closer to lean on the rail beside her. "Just... experienced. Trust me, kiddo, you blink and they're not kids anymore." Her eyes lingered on Ashka, her chest tightening. "I feel like I'm already blinking too much. Like I'm missing it as it happens. She builds forts and runs the halls and laughs at everything you do, and I don't know... sometimes I feel like I'm just watching her slip through my fingers." Sam glanced at her, reading the tension in her shoulders. "You're not missing it. You're here. Every scraped knee, every tantrum, every laugh—those are the things she's going to remember. Not how fast the years went." Zarya shook her head, looking down. "I don't know if that's enough. I didn't get any of this from you. No one held me when I cried. No one laughed when I made mistakes. And now I'm watching you do it with her, and I..." She trailed off, swallowing hard. "I don't know whether to be jealous or grateful." Sam was quiet for a long moment. Then he reached out, resting a heavy hand on her shoulder. "It doesn't have to be one or the other. You can feel both." She blinked, surprised at the softness in his tone. "I wasn't there for you," Sam admitted, voice rough. "I can't fix that, no matter how much I want to. But I can be here for her. And maybe, just maybe, being here for her makes up for a little bit of what you lost." Zarya let out a shaky laugh, though her eyes burned. "You think spoiling my daughter makes up for eighteen years of abandonment?" Sam smirked faintly. "No. But it's a start." She turned back to Ashka, who had collapsed onto the grass in a heap of laughter, her spark-wheel fizzling out beside her. Zarya felt her heart twist as pride and ache tangled together inside her chest. "I just don't want to blink again and realize she's grown without me." Sam leaned beside her, watching the pup with the same soft smile he tried to hide. "Then don't blink, kiddo. Stay in it. Because she's going to give us hell no matter how fast she grows." Zarya exhaled, a small smile finally breaking through as Ashka jumped back to her feet and screamed with joy at nothing in particular. Maybe he was right. Maybe it wasn't about catching every second—it was about holding onto the ones that mattered.
Ashka came tearing across the training ground, her paws kicking up dirt, her eyes glowing like twin embers as she bolted straight toward them. Sam tilted his head, already suspicious. "What's she plotting?" he muttered. Zarya smirked knowingly. "Oh, I'd say you're about to find out." Before Sam could move, Ashka skidded to a stop in front of him, her little hands glowing with gathered energy. With a triumphant shout, she shoved the ball of light forward—right into his legs. Sam barely had time to curse before the sphere detonated in a harmless puff of smoke and sparks, coating his jacket and pants in black soot. Zarya slapped a hand over her mouth to muffle her laugh, her shoulders shaking. Sam stood there, deadpan, covered in ash, one brow twitching like he was calculating ten different ways to retaliate. Ashka didn't wait for him to speak. She pointed at him, squealed with laughter, and collapsed onto the grass, rolling around in delight at her victory. "Kiddo..." Sam growled, his tone low and menacing, though the corner of his mouth twitched against a smile. "You just started a war." Zarya finally broke, laughing openly. "I told you she's your granddaughter." Sam dusted off his jacket with deliberate calm, then crouched low until he was eye level with Ashka, who was still hiccupping through her giggles. "Alright, Spark," he said, voice dangerous but playful. "You got one in. But you'd better be ready, because Grandpa doesn't lose prank wars." Ashka's giggle turned into a defiant little growl, as if she already understood the challenge. She smacked her tiny hands together, sparks flying, like she was daring him to try. Zarya leaned against the railing, tears in her eyes from laughing so hard. "You're doomed, Dad. She's already got you beat." Sam straightened up, glancing between Zarya and Ashka, soot still clinging to his clothes. His grin widened, sharp and mischievous. "Oh no, kiddo. I've been pulling pranks since before either of you were alive. If she wants to play..." He cracked his knuckles, looking back down at Ashka, who beamed up at him like she'd just found her favorite game. "...then let's play."
Sam crouched low, that dangerous grin still on his face, and with a snap of his fingers Ashka vanished. For a split second her giggles filled the air, but when she reappeared upside down hanging gently from the porch beam, the laughter cut short. Her eyes went wide, the blood-orange glow dimming, and a wail broke from her chest. "Shit," Sam muttered, instantly regretting it. He snapped again, pulling her back into his arms, holding her tight against his jacket. "Hey, hey—none of that, Spark. I didn't mean to scare you." Ashka hiccupped through her sobs, clutching at his shirt with tiny fists. Zarya crossed her arms, her smirk sharp as a blade. "Told you. She's a little young for your chaos, Dad." Sam shot her a glare before lowering his voice, rocking Ashka gently. "Alright, kiddo, I'm sorry. No more upside-down tricks. Grandpa's a dumbass sometimes." He rubbed her back until her sobs turned into little hiccups. "You win this round, okay? No hard feelings." Ashka sniffled, wiped her face with her sleeve, and then—because the spark never stayed down long—she grinned. A cookie shimmered into her hand, small and perfect, smelling sweet enough to make even Sam raise an eyebrow. "You made that?" he asked, surprised. She nodded proudly and shoved it toward him. "Alright, alright," Sam said, taking a bite. The cookie detonated in his mouth with a sharp pop, bursting into a cloud of glitter that stuck to his face, his jacket, even his hair. Sam coughed, blinking through the sparkle storm as Zarya burst into laughter so hard she doubled over, clutching her stomach. Ashka squealed with delight, clapping her hands as glitter drifted down around them. Sam wiped at his beard, spitting a fleck of shimmer onto the grass. "Oh, it's like that, huh?" he growled, though the sparkle in his hazel eyes was real. "First you make me the villain, then you make me the punchline. Damn spark, you're ruthless." Zarya wiped her tears of laughter, gasping for air. "She's your granddaughter, Dad. This is the monster you created." Sam looked at her "You created this monster; I'm just the grandpa." Zarya chuckled "Fair, but you're the one in a prank war not me." Sam looked down at Ashka, who was still laughing so hard she toppled back into the grass, glitter sticking to her fur. For the first time all day, he laughed too—deep, unguarded, real. "Alright, Spark," he muttered, shaking his head. "Game on."
Sam sat back on the grass, still brushing glitter out of his beard, while Zarya wiped her eyes from laughing. Ashka was rolling on her back, shrieking with joy, sparks dancing harmlessly off her paws. For a long moment they just watched her, the air warm with the kind of peace neither of them ever thought they'd earn. But then Zarya's smile faltered. She watched her daughter clap her hands, another spark jumping free, and the memory of Sam's words from before came back to her—about enemies, about corruption, about what others would see when they looked at Ashka. "She's already making things without thinking," Zarya said quietly. "If she can turn energy into a cookie now... what happens in a year? Or ten?" Sam leaned back on his elbows, eyes narrowing as he studied the little pup rolling in the grass. "Means we don't have the luxury of waiting. She's powerful, kiddo. More powerful than either of us were at her age." Zarya hugged her arms around herself. "I don't want her to grow up carrying a weight she can't control. I don't want her to be scared of herself." Sam grunted. "Then we teach her. Day by day. Hour by hour. And maybe..." He hesitated, glancing at Zarya. "Maybe it shouldn't just be her. There are others out there with God blood, with sparks they can't control. You felt that surge when she was born. Others did too. They'll come." Zarya blinked, startled. "You're saying... a school?" Sam shrugged, though his eyes were serious. "A place where she isn't alone. Where kids like her can learn before someone else decides to use them. Call it whatever you want, but if we don't start building something now... someone else will. And they won't be as kind." Zarya looked back at Ashka, who had finally collapsed into the grass, glitter still twinkling in her fur. Her little spark. Her future storm. Zarya's throat tightened as she whispered, "Then we build it. For her. For anyone who comes after her." Sam nodded, eyes fixed on the horizon. "Viscait's not just a name anymore. It's going to be a home. A shield. A legacy."
Chapter 9: The First Batch
Chapter Text
Sam watched over the training ground as Zarya talked to the first of the students who appeared from the portal. Zarya shook hands with the students. A male appeared and him and Zarya started talking, "names Zarya." she offered her hand, and he took it and shook it "Kael." Sam watched the interaction, but Kael spotted him and looked at Zarya "Who's that?" Zarya looked up at Sam and sighed "my dad, the original creation of Lucifer." Kael smiled at Sam and followed Zarya towards where the new students slept. Sam looked over at Ashka who was playing with children students her age and sighed happily. he walked inside the mansion and went to the kitchen and opened the whiskey cabinet and poured himself a shot of whiskey. Sam, right?" Sam turned toward the voice "you must be Kael yeah?" Kael nodded and leaned against the counter "It's a nice thing your family has going for misfits who don't understand their full power scale." Sam nodded "I saw you talking to Zarya, why did you stop talking to her?" Kael looked at him "cause I'm more drawn towards you Sam." He looked at Kael skeptically "what do you mean by that?" Kael laughed "Well you're Lucifer's original creation so I figured you'd be the one who would be the best mentor for stronger beings since you've been alive a lot longer than anyone." Sam sipped the shot of whiskey "I am the oldest here but I'm more focused on training my daughter and granddaughter, my daughter is the one training the teens and my granddaughter is mostly making friends with the children that came for safe haven." Kael sighed "Thats a shame, I was looking forward to showing you, my powers." Sam looked at him and folded his arms "you know Kael, when I look at you, I can't read you, so yeah it makes me curious on your abilities." Kael turned and walked outside with a sigh "Guess it's true not to meet your hero's" Zarya stepped inside and watched Kael Walk back towards the students' quarters and Sam replied, "I can't see his abilities." Zarya replied "I couldn't either dad." Sam sighed "he's going to be trouble." She nodded to that statement.
Sam kneeled in front of Ashka and the children "I need you all to get into pairs of two." he made children's toys appear and smiled as the students paired up including Ashka with a female imp. Sam got a chill as he felt someone behind him. "This is what you have resorted to? being the kid trainer while she is training the teens and young adults?" Sam looked back at Kael "Zarya is more than capable of training teens, she has that fire to keep up with all of your guy's antics." Kael looked at him "pathetic that the great Sam Viscait is reduced to training babies." Ashka growled and pushed an energy blast at Kael causing him to fly back, he landed on his feet and growled but Sam said in a serious tone "you even attempt to hurt my granddaughter I'll be the last thing you ever see." Kael grabbed a branch and for the first time in forever Sam saw it... black blood was here, ooze dripped from the branch as Kael walked off. Sam ran off after Kael who ran into the student's quarters, and he dove out the back window. Sam looked out the window and watched Kael running into the daylight. Sam returned to the black ooze dripping from the branch and sighed "Alright Grogoch, I know you're on earth now. But recruiting children and teens? that's a low for you." Zarya walked over "Where's Kael at?" Sam sighed "gone." Zarya frowned "Damn I was looking at making him the assistant for the Teens since he is good at controlling the wilder ones." Sam sighed "Zarya?" she looked at him "Yeah?" he motioned to the black ooze on the branch "Kael has an ability that is far more dangerous than anything you've ever seen." She knelt in front of the branch and went to touch it, but Sam force pushed her away. "WHAT THE FUCK DAD??" Sam growled "don't fucking touch it, its lethal to anything it touches." Zarya stood up "how so?" Sam didn't say much but he snapped the tree the ooze was on out of existence and walked past Zarya and whispered one name "Cyprus." he entered the house.
Kael kept running into the night, through the forest. he came onto a road where a truck drove, Kael shot a black tendril at the truck causing it to spin and barrel roll. Kael walked over to the destroyed truck and looked at the 3 men inside and smiled. A gun cocked causing Kael to lash out and killed the older male with a tendril. a different gun went off from the back seat and Kael dodged one of the two rounds but the other hit Kael in the shoulder but not before he stabbed the youngest of the three men and he walked over to the driver seat and looked at the driver who was unconscious and heavily bleeding from a head gash. he leaned in and grabbed the man's wallet which was soaked in blood and grabbed out the money from inside and looked at the bloodied I.D "Cross. hmm what a terrible last name." Kael tossed the wallet back in and ran off into the night. the next day Sam watched the news and sighed "that was definitely Kael Zarya, he killed two members of that family. That poor young adult lost his brother and dad in one night cause of a monster." Zarya frowned "should we go visit him in the hospital and see if he's alright?" Sam shook his head "he's a hunter, he'd be skeptical of us, plus the stuff he had in the back of that truck. high chance he goes to jail for a while." Zarya picked up Ashka and sighed "we need to start training her dad." he nodded "we do and will maybe not today, but we will make her a very strong viscait."Zarya carried Ashka out to the training ground and set her with the other younger kids and went off to train the teens some more. Sam stepped outside and watched Ashka, and the other kids play and then looked over at Zarya in a tense sparring session with a hellhound. Sam leaned against the railing and watched Zarya wrestle with the hellhound who was very agile against Zarya. Ashka walked up next to Sam and asked, "will I get to be trained like that one-day grandpa?" Sam knelt next to her and smiled "you will Spark, but you also need to enjoy your childhood, or your mom will be sad watching you grow too quick." Ashka smiled and said "I'm still her little girl no matter how old I am." Sam chuckled "I know"
Sam walked down the hallway of the hospital, his suit tight against his body, he knew he had told Zarya that this guy was a hunter, but he still wanted to check and see how he was doing. he asked the nurse which room Ryan Cross was in, and she pointed him to the room. Sam entered the room and walked over to the bandaged 16-year-old and sighed. Ryan looked at him and asked, "Are you the guy who killed my family the other night?" Sam shook his head "no, I'm the one trying to find the monster." Ryan chuckled "you're Sam Viscait Ceo of Viscait Enterprise. Why are you hunting down a monster?" Sam sighed and looked down at Ryan knowing he couldn't lie to him "cause I am also a monster." Sam's eyes flicked from hazel to blood orange causing Ryan to gasp "you here to kill me?" Sam shook his head as his eyes returned to hazel "I don't kill kids, but here." he pulled out his wallet and put a wad of cash under Ryan's pillow "when you get out of here, you never look back." Sam left after that. he returned home and opened the door to Zarya standing in the kitchen and she smelled the air "thought we agreed not to go check up on him?" Sam sighed "your way to observant for your own good kiddo." She smiled "Someone has to be observant, or this mansion will fall apart, how's he doing by the way?" Sam looked at her "not good, but I gave him a wad of money so he can leave town. but he's going to have to escape cause the police will arrest him for what he is, a hunter." Ashka heard and asked, "What's a hunter?" Sam knelt next to her and put a hand on her shoulder, Ashka's tail swaying as Sam spoke "a hunter is someone who kills things." Ashka frowned "things? like what" Sam sighed "like what we are spark." Ashka gasped and growled "NO!" an energy blast happened which shook the ground of the estate. Zarya looked at Ashka who growled, dark energy spiraling around her. Zarya ran over towards Sam who was against the wall due to the energy blast striking him. Ashka whined and ran over to Sam "Grandpa? Grandpa wake up." Sam groaned "Damn Spark plug, you know how to pack a punch in your energy blast." Ashka chuckled but Zarya looked worried.
Sam and Zarya stood in front of the teen students and Sam looked at each one and stopped on a hellhound. "what's your name?" The silver and white hellhound looked at him "Ravyn." Sam looked at Zarya "this is the one who almost beat you in the sparring match right?" Ravyn chuckled "Damn right I am, why?" Zarya replied "we want you to be an assistant." Ravyn looked at them both "I'm a hellhound, I'm not exactly an assistant material." Sam replied, "I can see a different story." she sighed "I was a receptionist for my dad's business but that doesn't make me an assistant." Zarya smirked "in my book it does, you have that feisty energy." Ravyn looked between them "so what does this entail?" Sam looked at her "mostly watching over the younger students while Zarya trains the teens and don't worry me and her will help you and train you, but I'll be focusing on this little spark plug of energy." he picked up Ashka and Ashka smiled at Ravyn "she's so pretty." Ravyn blushed light "pretty? hah." Sam chuckled "she's not wrong." Ravyn blushed more as Zarya looked at Sam "the fuck was that?" he shrugged "I don't know." He carried Ashka inside and Zarya walked next to Ravyn "Sorry about that, I don't know where that came from, he's never like that with females or males. honestly, I've never seen him with any one for that matter." she looked at Zarya "it's okay I'm used to it." Zarya frowned "I'll talk to him later on about it." Zarya showed Ravyn how to keep the little ones occupied by showing her where the children's toys were and Ravyn thanked her. later that night Sam sat on the 2nd floor balcony and Zarya stepped out "hey." Sam sighed "hey." Zarya sat next to him "how long?" Sam looked at her "what do you mean?" She looked ahead "since you've been with someone?" he looked ahead "is that really important right now?" She looked at him "It kinda is, especially if your calling young adults pretty and that when they are supposed to be our student's dad." he sighed "it was a spur of the moment, I didn't mean to call her pretty." Zarya frowned "I know. but you still did dad." they both looked ahead at the sky ahead.
Chapter 10: Fires to be Tamed
Chapter Text
Sam lifted his shirt and looked at his slightly red skin on his abdomen in the mirror and sighed "she's powerful." his true form spoke in his mind "She'll be the strongest Viscait one day, with our guidance." he made an ice pack appear and put it on his abdomen to stop the slight pain as his true form said inside his head "you know you won't always be here for them. neither will I." Sam sighed and put his hands on the counter of the bathroom "I know that, and it pisses me off because they will never know how to handle earth and that without me." his true form whispered in his mind "you're right, they will never be ready for what earth has to offer, but they are our children and family and they will eventually be okay after were gone." Sam frowned "I don't want to think about a world where I'm gone from them though." His true form replied back "I know, neither do I but we have to accept that one day it will happen, you know?" Sam put his shirt back down "yeah I know." he walked out of the bathroom and turned off the light and turned to look at the mirror one last time looking at his true form that looked back at him with piercing blood orange eyes and whispered "that's why I'm leaving the world better than when I found it, so they won't have to constantly fight for their lives." he left the room and walked out of the master bedroom and into the hallway, the aroma of food filled his nose. he walked into the kitchen and spotted Zarya cooking and Ashka at the table waiting for food and he watched the pair before Zarya said "you're staring dad." Sam sighed "yeah, maybe I'm watching my family." Zarya looked at him "you act like you're going to disappear." Sam smiled "if I blink, I get the feeling I'll lose this." Zarya turned to fully look at him "what do you mean by that?" Ashka got up and ran over to Sam "did I hurt you with that blast yesterday grandpa? are you dying?" Sam knelt in front of her and put a hand on her shoulder. "I'm not dying spark, I'm just worried." Ashka asked, "worried about what Grandpa?" Sam hugged her "worried that you guys won't be okay when I'm gone." Zarya frowned as her and Sam's eyes met. Ashka hugged him in return. "Will you at least train me before you disappear?" Sam chuckled "yeah Spark, I will gladly train you and your mom to be better than me." Zarya chuckled "no one can ever be better than Sam Viscait the Ceo." Sam replied, "well except for Zarya Viscait the Ceo." She choked at that "What!!??" Sam and Ashka laughed at that as Zarya glared at Sam who smiled at her.
Sam held Ashka's paw as he led her downstairs to the basement, Ashka looked up at him "where are we going?" Sam smiled "you asked to be trained right?" She nodded "yeah, but why not the training ground?" Sam continued walking "well I'm not really welcomed out there right now." she replied "is it because you called Ravyn pretty after I did?" Sam sighed "yeah, that was uncalled of from me Ashka." She replied, "but were not wrong, she is pretty." Sam chuckled "true, but I'm supposed to be hers and everyone else's mentor, I'm not supposed to be bias towards any of them because of their beauty." Ashka replied, "that's bullshit." Sam stopped and picked her up "where did you learn that word?" Ashka shrugged "one of your old books." Sam sighed and carried her to the bottom of the steps "what did I tell you about going through my old stuff?" Ashka looked around the area "where are we?" Sam looked at the old forge and that "The Viscait Forge." She looked at the forge and asked, "why are we down here?" Sam made a chair appear and sat down and made a small block appear "I want you to turn that block into whatever material you want and then hammer it down into something." Ashka looked at him "how am I supposed to do that grandpa?" he smiled "focus on the block first spark, think of any material you've seen and turn it into that." she focused on the material, and the block eventually changed into it. "Now where's the hammer grandpa?" Sam made a hammer appear next to her and she picked it up and almost fell over causing him to laugh "come on spark, don't lose your balance from a 5-pound hammer." She growled and swung the hammer repeatedly onto the block. She tossed the hammer aside and said, "I'm tired of swinging this hammer grandpa." Sam replied softly "well that's too damn bad, you keep swinging." She looked at him "you swore." he smiled "I did." She replied, "I'm going to tell mom." Sam laughed "just keep focusing on the training session Ashka." She picked up the hammer and kept swinging for a few hours, sweat dripped from her fur as she set the hammer down and said "Done." Sam raised an eyebrow.
He knelt next to her and looked at it and smiled "what is it?" She looked down at it and shrugged "I don't know what earth stuff is called." Sam laughed and picked it up and examined it and said, "it's a small knife Spark." he thought for a moment and made a cursive AV on it with a wolf emblem, and she looked at it "why?" He looked at her "you will carry our family into the future Ashka, after me, after your mom. It will be you and whoever you fall in love with" Ashka made a disgusted face "Love? Seriously grandpa? I'm 9, I will never fall in love with anyone." Sam laughed "Well you can always create a child." She looked at him in silence "create a child?" he spoke "yeah, like your mom did with you." Ashka smiled "how do I do that?" Sam thought for a moment and then replied, "you know spark, I actually don't know how she managed to do that with such little training, but she did." he created a holster for her knife and put it on her leg as she spoke "so I should have her train me on that?" Sam looked up at her "I think you should at least live your little life a little before you go and create a child, that's a big deal spark." She sighed "so leave it to the adults to create the more powerful stuff?" Sam nodded lightly and stood up and picked her up "yeah, cause our enemies will feel our power surge and use that against us." he carried her upstairs and Ashka ran over to Zarya instantly "mommy." Zarya knelt next to her "yes sweetheart?" She spoke "Sam swore downstairs." Zarya looked at Sam "you swore?" he sighed "little tattle tale, how about you tell her how you swore first." Zarya glared down at Ashka who frowned "I didn't mean to, I read the word in one of grandpa's old books." Zarya hugged her "go play sweetheart, be careful with that knife. it's not a toy." Ashka ran off as Zarya stood up and leaned against the counter and looked at Sam "may I ask why you swore to my daughter?" he looked at her "you really that upset?" She growled "hell yeah I am, she's a child Sam" he replied "or are you projecting? face it, I'm not capable of toning myself down for anyone, what you want me to be a shell of myself, just do my job and train and that be all I'm good for." Zarya yelled "PROJECTING?? you abandoned me before I was even born and now, you're swearing to my child, so how the fuck am I projecting?" he replied, his eyes turning blood orange causing Zarya to freeze since Sam doesn't do that unless he's pissed "Is that what you said when you abandoned your mom on her death bed?" his eyes turned hazel and he replied "Zarya.... I didn't mean that." She teared up "Fuck you!" she ran towards the stairs and up to her room, the door slamming in the distance causing him to sigh "fuck."
Sam walked out the back door and down the path to the left away from the estate and the training ground, towards the forest. he eventually came to a cabin in the woods and opened the door and stepped in and sat down in a wooden chair and sighed "I fucked up, didn't I?" his true form replied in his mind "Define Fucked up? Cause what you did in the kitchen just now, wasn't Sam fucking up. That was you showing your place in the Viscait hierarchy." Sam sighed "I know I'm not supposed to just baby her, but I can't help. I abandoned her all those years ago and left her mom to raise her solo." his true form replied back "that sounds a lot like you're their bitch Sam?" Sam growled "I ain't no one's bitch." his true form laughed "that is what a bitch would say." Sam stood and grabbed a beer bottle with his tail and tossed it at the wall smashing it. He was now in his hellhound form "Son of a bitch!!" he punched the wall, tossed stuff around breaking it and growled, his eyes changing blood orange "Is this what you wanted??" his true form smirked at him from the mirror "There you are, Theres the guy who was Judge, jury, and executioner for Lucifer." Sam punched the mirror "I am not that guy anymore!!" "Grandpa?" the voice cut through the tense air as Sam turned to look at Ashka who was shocked by his hound form "you're a hound like me and mom?" Sam's true form chuckled in his head "Go on Sammy, train her, show her exactly who you are. Why you are so feared" Sam turned back into his human form and shook his head, his eyes returning to hazel as he looked at Ashka "I am a hound like you Ashka" he walked towards her, but she backed away scared of him causing him to stop and look away "I get it spark, I'm a monster." She whispered, "you're not a monster grandpa, you just scared me is all." Sam sat down on the ground against the wall, and she walked over and laid next to him "Why is mommy crying?" Sam sighed "cause I said something out of anger that I didn't mean to say." Ashka looked up at him "did you mean it?" Sam frowned "I'd never say something to hurt you and your mom, you're my family... my world." she replied "you should apologize to her." Sam looked up "I know spark."
Sam and Ashka walked back towards the estate and Sam knelt next to her and said, "go play with the other kids spark." he glanced at Zarya who was eyeing him, and he motioned with his head for her to follow. she walked over to them and hugged Ashka and then followed Sam as Ashka ran to play with the other kids. Sam and Zarya walked onto a dock and sat down on a bench as Sam looked out at the water "I.." Zarya cut him off "I'm sorry dad." She hugged him causing Sam to freeze momentarily before he hugged her back gently "I'm sorry kiddo, I didn't mean to bring up what I said during that fight. I know that's a sensitive topic for you." She cried into his chest "It's not just that dad." he looked down at her "what is it then?" She looked up at him "it's all of it dad, the idea of losing you, the idea of being Ceo of the company you built, having to raise Ashka without you to guide me when I need it. it's all of it, that one day I'll wake up and you... well you won't be here anymore, that I'll blink and you'll be gone." Sam hugged her tighter and rubbed her back lightly "I'm not going anywhere until you tell me you don't need me around anymore kiddo. Even if I do die, I'll still be here in your heart. But I'll always fight to be here with you... with Ashka, you two are my family kiddo." She sniffled and looked up at him and wiped her tears with the back of her paw "I know you can't promise me that dad." Sam frowned and looked out at the water "I know but I wish I could promise it to you Zarya, you deserve to be pampered and loved unconditionally for all the years I missed. but with all the time you do have me for, I will do exactly that." She smiled and hugged him "I love you dad." Sam hugged her close and whispered, "I know." she sighed "why don't you ever say it back?" Sam froze and stood up and walked over to the railing and looked down at the water, seeing himself and his true form looking back and he replied "I don't say it because I can't lie kiddo, If I say it and something happens, it would be like I lied and I don't want you to see me as a liar." she stood next to him and looked down at the water and put her paw over his hand gently and said "I understand dad, but I know you can't lie to me, so even if something happened to you, I'd still know that you loved me regardless." Sam choked up, a tear dropping into the water causing a ripple as Zarya asked "Are you crying?" Sam wiped his eyes "Sam Viscait doesn't cry." She laughed "looks like you just did." Sam sighed causing her to smile "don't worry dad I won't tell Ashka and ruin that tough grandpa look that she looks at you with." Sam smiled "thanks kiddo." they hugged and walked back towards the estate.
Chapter 11: Neon Sparks
Chapter Text
The night was illuminated at the stoplight, a 2024 dodge charger pulled up next to a 2023 Camaro. The window rolled down and the A.I voice piped up "Oi you in the 2023, lets race." The window rolled down on the 2023 Camaro and a voice came from it "A race?" A male appeared in the passenger seat of the 2024 dodge charger and stuck his hand out "Yeah! A race! By the way the name's Sevyn, What about you?" The male in the other car took Sevyn's hand "Ryan... Ryan Cross." Sevyn smiled "Ryan Cross huh? what a cute name." The A.I system piped up "And my names BRAT" Ryan looked at Sevyn "BRAT?" Sevyn chuckles a little blush appearing on his face "Yeah Brilliant. ridiculous, adorable, troublemaker." Ryan turned to look ahead and asked, "where do you want to race to Sevyn?" Sevyn looked at the red light and said, "two miles down, it's a full straight, past Viscait Enterprise." Ryan looked at him "Viscait Enterprise?" BRAT replied from the radio of Sevyn's car "Yeah, Viscait Enterprise. inherited by Sam Viscait when he was just 16, man had a terrible upbringing, his mom died at birth and his dad... well his dad was a drunk. he moved into a mansion when he turned 16 and inherited his mom's dad's business." Sevyn smiled "Man's the sexiest man alive voted that at only 19. he became the youngest billionaire at 18" Ryan revved his engine "Sounds like you have a crush." Sevyn burst out into laughter "Me? a crush on Sam Viscait? how preposterous." BRAT replied, "Don't ask how many times he's asked me to dial his number but not call." Sevyn blushed "BRAT!! you little Chaos Gremlin, how dare you betray me like that." Ryan laughed and said, "are we going to race still?" Sevyn climbed back into the driver seat and revved your engine as BRAT said, "Fuck yeah we are, and when we win you better not tell anyone about Sevyn's crush." Ryan chuckled "I'm planning on leaving town anyways, so I won't tell anyone about your secret crush." BRAT hacked into the stop light and said "3! 2! 1! GO!!!" the stop light changed to green as both cars sped off into the night.
The cars sped down the two-mile stretch, Brat spoke to Sevyn through the radio "Do you want me to initiate the nos? Sevyn chuckled "no need Brat, this guy doesn't have nos in his vehicle. It wouldn't be a fair mat..." Sevyn watched as the nos on the Camaro launched the car forward as Sevyn hand initiated the nos on the charger, but he knew Ryan was already too far ahead but that's when Brat said something that made him panic "Sevyn, a cop car is behind us. the lights turned on, on the cop car and Sevyn gripped the wheel tightly "were not stopping Brat we're going to lose this fucker." Sevyn pushed down on the pedal and floored it, drifting around corners and speeding "he still on us Brat?" brat replied, "drift into this alley way before he turns down this road." Sevyn drifted down the alleyway that Brat was referring to and turned into a car garage and parked, turning the lights off in the car and laughed. Brat laughed through the radio and said, "Well you lost the race, but you won't be in a cold cell tonight." Sevyn got out of the car and popped the hood of the car and walked over to the front and started working on the engine as Brat said, "when are you going to make me more than just a car Sevyn?" Sevyn chuckled "you are a chaos gremlin already; I don't need a physical version of you walking about and terrorizing me." Brat gasped "how dare you say I'd terrorize you Sevyn, you're just scared I'll share your browser history with specific people." Sevyn walked back over to the driver door and said, "If you tried that, that would be the last thing you ever do." Brat chuckled "why? would you reboot me like you always say you're going to do?" Sevyn went to speak but froze when he heard the steps and turned to see Ryan, hands in his jacket and Sevyn said "well, this is unexpected. how did you find me?" Ryan looked at him "well it's not hard to retrace my path and go down alternate routes to find you. lucky for you that cop is gone." Sevyn sighed and walked over to a mini fridge and pulled out a beer and asked, "you drink?" Ryan reached his hand out and Sevyn handed him a beer. "Good I could use some company." Sevyn said softly.
the next morning Sevyn sighed and opened his eyes yawning and looking over to where his company was the night before and he got up and got dressed and walked down the stairs and to his car still parked in the garage and he got in the driver seat and asked Brat "how long did he stay after I fell asleep?" Brat replied "well, it was a peaceful few hours I can assure you that Sevyn, he did stay next to you and cuddle you but let's be honest. It was a spur of the moment thing for you." Sevyn sighed softly "yeah, a spur of the moment thing. I know who I really want, I just..." Brat replied, "don't know if he will want you back?" Sevyn nodded lightly "do you still remember his schedule?" Brat spoke "you bet I do; he should be on his way to Viscait enterprises as we speak." Sevyn closed the door of the car and said, "well let's go shoot that shot." the car backed out of the garage and out of the alley way, onto the main road as Sevyn drove, following Brat's directions" he eventually pulled behind a limo at a stop light and brat said softly "Sevyn, he's in the back seat of the car ahead of us." Sevyn grabbed the steering wheel tightly with both hands and said, "how long can you keep the stop light on red?" Brat chuckled "he actually is about to shoot his shot huh." Sevyn parked and took his seatbelt off and got out of the car and walked over to the back of the limo and tapped on the window lightly." the window rolled down and Sam looked at Sevyn, but a female spoke from the side of Sam "What do you want?" Sevyn frowned "I was just coming to um... ask if you wanted to go out... but um..." Sevyn walked back to his car and brat instantly made the light go green as Sevyn sped around the limo. Sam looked at Zarya confused "did I just get asked out by a guy?" She shrugged "I mean, it's not uncommon for it probably I mean you are Sam Viscait after all dad." he chuckled "that's true." Zarya smiled "is that what you were referring to when you said humans only want our bodies?" Sam laughed and rolled up the window. "Sadly, yeah. it is exactly what I meant." Sevyn pulled into the garage, tears already falling from his eyes "I'm a fucking idiot, I couldn't even get it out and he has a girlfriend already." Brat replied "Sevyn, you're not an idiot for shooting your shot, even if you did not even ask him properly." Sevyn got out of the car and walked upstairs and laid back in the bed in his little room and curled up.
hours later Brat spoke to Sevyn through his phone "oi wake up, there's someone in the garage." Sevyn stood and grabbed a small knife and walked to the railing and spotted a male leaning over his car's engine and he spoke "Can you please not mess with my car?" The male turned, his suit flush against his body, revealing himself as Sam and Sevyn froze "you?" he walked down the stairs before he could stop himself and looked at Sam "how did you find me?" Sam sighed and walked over to a counter and looked at a diner bag and said, "you asked me out, so I decided to bring the food to you." Sevyn's eyes lit up "you brought me food?" Sam handed him the bag and leaned against the counter. Sevyn took the bag and opened it and opened the container, smiling as the aroma of eggs, sausage, hashbrowns and toast filled his nose. "You do care." Sam chuckled as he watched Sevyn blush like a tomato, and he spoke "by the way, I should tell you. The lady that was in my limo with me." Sevyn cut him off "I get it, that's your girlfriend or your personal assistant." Sam laughed "no... that's my daughter." Sevyn nearly choked but swallowed and looked at Sam confused "Daughter? she's like what 26" Sam laughed "well it's a lot more complicated than your little simple mind can comprehend." Sevyn looked at him "try me?" Sam shut the garage and shifted into his hound form causing Sevyn to fall out of his chair "What the Fuck!!" Sam shifted back into his human form and fixed his suit and said, "now you know." Sevyn adjusted his collar, still red like a tomato but Brat piped up from the radio "I'd like to say first that that is one of his kinks, is to be railed by a werewolf." Sam looked at Sevyn and then at the car and said, "I'm a hellhound not a werewolf." Brat replied, "still can call you a werewolf." Sevyn turned the volume down on Brat and looked at Sam in awe "um... can I see it again?" Sam looked at him "you're not going to masturbate if I show you again, are you?" Sevyn blushed "no, I promise I won't." Sam shifted into his hellhound form and looked at Sevyn, who instantly hugged him, burying his face into Sam's chest fur and whispering, "I needed this kind of love."
Sam looked around the garage and then walked over to the engine and reached in as Sevyn watched "you're messing with my car again." Sam glanced over at Sevyn who was obviously staring at his hellhound ass. "And you're staring." Sevyn blushed and looked away "sorry Sam" Sam looked back into the engine and said, "there's a fault in your pipes." Sevyn walked over and looked in and gasped "That's why I keep losing these damn races." he instantly started working on taking the pipe out and sighed "I'll have to tape it, cause that pipe cost about 1000 dollars to buy." Sam snapped his fingers and a package appeared in front of Sevyn "or you can just ask me to make you one." he gasped and looked at Sam "you... you're amazing." Sam chuckled "no, I'm just being nice." Brat replied from the radio "This is probably the cutest date Sevyn has been on." Sevyn blushed and gasped "Brat, I will tear out your A.I chip." Sam smiled and listened to the interaction and shifted into his human form and readjusted his suit causing Sevyn to look over at him "you're leaving, aren't you?" Sam nodded "I have to get back to Viscait Enterprises and train my daughter cause one day she will be the Ceo of it and I can't have her running it into the ground." he walked over and put a hand on Sevyn's shoulder and took out his business card and put it in his pocket "now you have my number if you ever want to go on a proper dinner date... but no talking about what I am, Understood?" Sevyn blushed hard and breathed "yeah I understand cutie, I'll text you or something. Just let me know your schedule, not that I stalk you or anything... Senpai." Sam laughed and looked at him "I'm going to act like you didn't just say all that and say, "I look forward to seeing you one day soon." with that Sam turned and left the garage and walked towards Viscait Enterprise. Brat spoke as soon as Sam was out of ear shot "do you want me to save the footage of his hellhound ass?" Sevyn nodded lightly and continued blushing as Brat replied "can't believe you called him senpai, didn't know we were doing the whole anime schtick either with him, you have to many kinks Sevyn" Sevyn replied "I know"
Sam walked over to Zarya who sat on a bench eating a burger from the diner he got Sevyn's food from, and she smiled at him "any longer and I would have assumed you were railing him." Sam laughed and sat next to her "He just needed company." She looked at him "I think you do as well dad, it's ok to be in someone's company, I mean he seemed like, he liked you." Sam chuckled and stood up and helped her up "I would also agree with you on that statement kiddo." they walked towards viscait enterprise as Zarya tossed the wrapper in the trash can. Sevyn readjusted the line in his Charger and spoke to Brat "I can't believe that happened." Brat replied, "I can't either, but I mean, now you kind of have to text him and ask for a proper date." Sevyn nodded and said, "I know, but what do I ask?" Brat replied "You are Sevyn, your confidence is unmatched by any human. If you can't ask him out on a proper date than... I have no hope for humanity in this." Sevyn pulled his phone out and texted the number on Sam's business card. "Hey, It's Sevyn. I was just texting to see when you wanted to go on that proper dinner date?" Sevyn hit send and breathed nervously and said to Brat "what are the statistics he says no?" Brat replied "well, a regular human, you're looking at a 50/50 chance of rejection, but with a celestial being like Sam... I got nothing, I guess we will have to see." Sevyn sighed but the text notification gave him hope and he read it instantly "Hey Sevyn, It's Sam. I'm free tomorrow night, if you want to get dinner or..." Sevyn waited a minute for the next part as it showed Sam was typing and then the next message came through "or you can meet me at my mansion and have dinner with me and my family." Sevyn stared at the phone and then told Brat what Sam's messages were when Brat could literally see them himself and Brat asked Sevyn "So what are you going to do lover boy, fulfill your werewolf kink?" Sevyn blushed "which do I do?" Brat replied, "I'd recommend the family dinner if you're expecting him to rail you after it." Sevyn blushed more and texted Sam back "I'd love to do a family dinner with you and your family Sam." he sighed and looked around the garage, when the text notification came through. He read the message from Sam "I will send you the address tomorrow than Sevyn, Goodnight" he continued typing and then sent the next message which caused Sevyn to become stun locked "Cutie, thanks for the fun 20 minutes we spent in each other's company." Sevyn gasped "did Sam just call me cute and say he enjoyed the short time we hung out?" Brat replied, "It does seem that way Sevyn." Sevyn happily jumped around as Brat played love songs.
Chapter 12: Hopelessly Starstruck
Chapter Text
Sam tidied up his suit as Zarya watched him in her human form "you seriously going to make us be in our human form to not blow this human's mind?" Sam replied and looked at through his reflection in the mirror "If we stay in our other forms, he will get comfortable with us in those forms and then he will accidentally take a picture of us and that and accidentally post it somewhere and were fucked, our brand is fucked. Everything we built up till now would be fucked." Zarya put a hand on his shoulder "then we would rebuild from the ashes like a phoenix dad." He turned and looked at her "rebuild from what? if the world knew about us than they'd see us as monsters." she sighed "yeah but we'd still have each other." they walked into the dining room where Ashka sat in her hound form and Zarya sighed "you have to get in your human form spark." Ashka switched to her human form and sighed; this makes me feel weird. Zarya chuckled and looked at Sam "it makes me weird to." Sam smiled and started cooking in the kitchen. Sevyn fixed his shirt and looked in the mirror of his garage and spoke to Brat "Am I stupid for this?" Brat chuckled from the radio "stupid? no you are confident Sevyn, maybe too confident in this." Sevyn nervously chuckled and said, "I'm about to have dinner with my idol." it hit him hard, and he started having a panic attack, his breathing picked up as he hyperventilated. Brat spoke to him "Calm down Sevyn, you got this. Just think in a few hours you will be railed by a werewolf which is a massive kink of yours." Sevyn chuckled as he slowly calmed down and said, "You're a dick Brat." Brat gasped as Sevyn got in the car and turned it on "How dare you call me a dick Sevyn when you're about to be choki..." Sevyn turned off the radio and sighed and pulled out of the garage and pulled out of the alley and onto the main road. he drove for what felt like forever, getting on the freeway and then getting off it and turning onto a road stopping at a gated entrance, his eyes widened at the mansion on the other side as he typed the number on the keypad "I'm really doing this." he drove towards the mansion, his nerves through the roof despite his confidence, but he'd never show it.
Sevyn went to walk up towards the massive estate but stopped as a voice came from behind him "so you're the one that's going to keep Sam company?" Sevyn turned around and saw Ravyn who looked annoyed on her phone and said, "I wouldn't say keep him company, I'm more like a fan." Ravyn sighed "Great what this estate needs, a regular human who's a fan of Sam." her tail flicked angrily as Sevyn looked back towards the front door and said, "I should probably knock before they think I chickened out." Ravyn looked at the door, her hellhound ear twitching "or I can kill you and save us all the trouble of seeing Sam get hurt when you eventually hurt him." Sevyn gasped "I'd never hurt that poor man." he walked up the stairs as Ravyn said, "I'll hold you to that, but if I hear you hurt him, I'll drag you to hell myself." She walked away as Sevyn knocked. "understood" The door opened revealing Sam who smiled at Sevyn, he smiled back but nervously said "We're doing this?" Sam moved aside to let him in and said "yeah, I guess we are." he closed the door as Sevyn walked in and led him into the dining room where Zarya and Ashka sat at the table and Sevyn looked at Sam "It's still crazy that you have a 26-year-old daughter and an 8 year old granddaughter." Ashka got up and walked over to Sevyn and smiled "you must be my grandpa's boyfriend!" Sevyn blushed as Sam picked her up "alright you little troublemaker, who told you that?" Ashka chuckled as Zarya tried to make herself not seen from the kitchen where she was cooking at and Sam sighed "Zarya are you already shipping me and Sevyn here? he's like a massive fan" Zarya replied "who has a werewolf kink." Sevyn was flushed and sat down at the table and listened to their interaction not knowing how to handle it." Ashka sat next to him as Sam and Zarya bickered and joked." You know if it makes you feel better, I'd be happy if you ended up with my grandpa, he's been really lonely lately." Sevyn looked at Sam softly, cause for the first time he found someone like him who was also alone in the world and just needed a little company, even if it wasn't a romantic company, but just there for each other.
Sevyn smiled as Sam set the plate in front of him with 2 burgers on it with fries, and Zarya put a glass of wine next to him, Sevyn asked them "how do you guys sustain a whole school and yourselves?" Sam chuckled and looked over at Zarya "you want to show him or me?" Zarya chuckled "he's your potential boyfriend dad; it's only fitting if you do it." Sam sat down instead with his own plate after putting a plate in front of Zarya and Ashka, Ashka's burger was cut up due to her age. Sevyn watched Ashka eat and asked, "you two thought of everything didn't you?" Zarya nodded "have to when you're a celestial being." he asked "so where's her dad? is he a celestial being." Zarya sighed and went to answer but Sam answered first causing her to give a breath of relief "When your god made humans, did he have a female?" Sevyn looked nervous "I guess not." Sam smiled "so there's your answer "Zarya created Ashka by herself and that little spark will lead this family line into the future." all three of them looked at Ashka when she burped, having already devoured her food. Sevyn laughed "damn, she can out eat me, and I love food." he looked down and noticed his food barely touched, meanwhile Sam and Zarya's were already almost gone. he took a sip of wine and sighed "sorry" Sam glanced at him "why are you apologizing?" Sevyn replied back to Sam's question "I'm just really nervous, sitting here with my idol. being at the table with you, hell even you inviting me here to your mansion is astounding to me because I don't even know what I did right to be in your presence." Zarya chuckled and took a sip of her wine "well, I'd say you impressed a celestial being with your awkward ass knock on the window of his limo, followed by the nervous date request of yours." Sevyn turned red from embarrassment and down the rest of his wine and looked around for more." She smiled and snapped her fingers, refilling his glass. Sevyn didn't thank her, just downed it after it was full and hiccupped causing Sam to sigh "Did you seriously get him drunk Zarya?" She laughed "well, he's the one who downed his glass after I graciously refilled it for him." Sam facepalmed as Sevyn hiccupped again all bubbly.
Sam looked at Zarya as she spoke "so Sevyn, what do you do for work?" Sevyn looked at her all bubbly and replied, "well I'm a street racer." Ashka gasped "woah, you race cars?" Sevyn chuckled and hiccupped "exactly, I always race in my 2024 Dodge Charger, where my companion Brat is." Zarya glanced over at him "Brat?" Sevyn smiled "yeah, my A.I companion, I programmed him into that car, so he can operate it by himself. I love that little chaos gremlin." he hiccupped as Ashka replied, "Can I see him?" Sevyn smiled and pulled out his phone and went into the App he created for Brat and said, "go ahead, he can reply." Zarya sighed "great he's one of these kinds of humans." Brat chimed in and said, "well actually Sevyn is the most confident human around, I mean he asked out his biggest idol and is now at the same table as him." Sevyn was flushed from Being reminded where he was despite his tipsy state. Ashka looked at him and asked "Sevyn, why are you as red as a tomato." Sevyn looked at her stunned that even she would call him out. Brat replied from the phone "Well little one, Sevyn is as red as a tomato because he is a massive fangirl for Sam." Ashka asked, "what's a fangirl?" Brat replied "oh, an excellent question. well, you see a fangirl is someone who gets all flustered and nervous around someone especially in an obsessive manner." Sevyn gasped "Brat, I will reprogram you if you share any more information about that." Ashka and Zarya laughed, which caused Brat to laugh and reply, "he says that to me almost daily and I'm still waiting for the day." Ashka and Zarya laughed more as Sevyn looked shocked about their behavior, but he looked at Sam as Sam got up and walked over to the kitchen and put his plate away and walked into the hallway and up the stairs. Zarya looked at Sevyn and smiled "you should follow him Sevyn, you are here for him any ways." Sevyn didn't need to be told twice; he got up and turned his phone off and walked down the hallway stumbling up the stairs, hearing Zarya and Ashka laughing in the distance as he looked for Sam, he spotted Sam eventually on the balcony and stepped onto it "you, ok?"
Sam looked out over the estate from his bench and sighed "it's hard to be in the middle of that kind of family dinner." Sevyn sat next to him, Sam moving slightly to give him more room, Sevyn hiccupped "It's okay, I'm used to that kind of teasing from Brat." Sam looked down at his hands "you are... I'm not. I didn't ever get a family dinner like this, or a moment with family, hell I only have parties at my other properties cause of Viscait Enterprise and the businesses I run." Sevyn looked at him "Does it bother you? I mean you must be very old Sam" Sam looked ahead "It does because I don't deserve it. I don't deserve happiness, not like they do." he looked at the balcony door referring to Zarya and Ashka. Sevyn looked up "well that's a big lie, you do deserve it Sam, you deserve all the best things in life, I know it and I'm sure he does to." Sam laughed at that "you think your god thinks I deserve happiness?" Sevyn nodded "I do, he loves all his creations." I'm not one of those creations he loves Sevyn; I'm the son of the one angel that God has never forgiven." Sevyn looked down "that.... that explains a lot." Sam frowned "does that bother you that Lucifer is my dad?" Sevyn shook his head "not at all, like I said Sam, you deserve happiness and love. not a life of loneliness or guilt that you deserve to be constantly punished because Lucifer is your dad. like to hell with anyone who thinks you deserve that kind of pain." Sam looked over at him, slight tears in his eyes causing Sevyn to break himself and hug Sam close. Sam said softly "thank you for that Sevyn." he heard the soft snoring and chuckled "of course you humans fall asleep at the worst time." he picked Sevyn up bridal style and carried him inside and down the stairs and took Sevyn into a guest room and laid him on the bed. Zarya leaned against the door frame "he fell asleep?" Sam sat in a chair watching Sevyn's chest rising and falling slowly with each breath in his slumber. "Yeah, he fell asleep." Zarya walked over and put a blanket around Sam's shoulders and said "Dad, he isn't going anywhere you know?" Sam sighed "I just don't want to miss these kinds of moments kiddo." she kissed the top of his head and walked out of the room "I'm off to bed dad, I love you." Sam smiled "goodnight kiddo."
Chapter 13: The Morning After
Chapter Text
Sam sat in the chair watching Sevyn sleep still, he didn't know when Sevyn would wake up but for Sam, he'd sit and wait. "Have you been with me all night?" Sam flinched when he heard Sevyn's voice and replied, "I mean, I won't lie to you and say no." Sevyn sat up and rubbed his eyes, realizing he was still clothed and looked at Sam "So we didn't do anything either?" Sam looked at Sevyn and stood up and walked over to the window and looked out of it out at the estate where Zarya and Ashka were below in the training ground with the rest of the students. "Sevyn, I can't do anything with you." Sevyn frowned but asked "why not?" Sam chuckled softly and replied, "Had you been alive 25 years ago, I would have gladly had sex with you Sevyn, but the hellhound elders made it so any hellhound would be mated to the next person they had sex with." Sevyn looked at Sam "you should be the exception to that Sam" Sam laughed "sadly I wouldn't betray my species laws." Sevyn looked at him "you're very loyal to the universal order, aren't you?" Sam looked at Sevyn softly "I have to be." Sevyn looked at him "but why? the universe isn't loyal to you Sam, no one is. how many people have used you to get some sort of gain from you." Sam sighed "to many to count." Sevyn replied, "and how many of them have ever asked you how you are, Sam?" Sam looked out the window "not one, no one ever asks how I'm doing. how I'm holding up." Sevyn looked at Sam "how are you holding up Sam?" Sam teared up as he looked out the window so Sevyn couldn't see "I'm not Sevyn, I'm tired of it. of living, I've been alive since the dawn of time and am the one true being that can't die...but." Sevyn heard the way Sam spoke and could tell that he wasn't scared of being alive. "you're afraid to die?" Sam nodded causing Sevyn to ask "why?" Sam replied after wiping the tears with the back of his hand "because if I die, who looks out for them?" he put his hand on the window as he looked at Zarya and Ashka "they need me Sevyn, I can't allow myself to die. but I also know how it ends for me." Sevyn asked "how?" Sam replied, "at the hands of one of my children that I forgot about." Sevyn frowned and stood up and walked over and hugged Sam from behind and said, "do you know which one?" Sam replied softly "I do." Sevyn asked, "can you tell me?" Sam shook his head "It's something I've already accepted Sevyn" Sevyn cried into Sam's back "you mean to tell me that the one true immortal that can't die...dies and you're just accepting your death?" Sam sighed and turned and hugged him "I have to accept it, cause..." Sevyn cut him off "cause you will never go against the universe, Will you?" Sam replied "no" Sevyn pulled away "then I have to go." Sam watched Sevyn leave the room.
Sevyn stormed out of the front doors of the mansion and walked over to his car and went to open the door, but Zarya sighed "you just going to leave?" Sevyn turned and looked at her "I can't stay here when he's already accepted his death Zarya." Zarya looked at him confused "what do you mean?" he replied, "he told me how he dies, he said even if he wanted to defy the universal law and stay alive, he won't." Zarya choked up "than go Sevyn. go so you don't get hurt by your idol." Sevyn climbed in his car and closed the door and drove out the gates and back towards his garage. Sevyn cried to himself as Brat piloted the car and played sad somber songs for Sevyn as he asked, "why did I let myself open up to him to see how he is? he was way better before I knew about his other side." Brat replied "Sevyn, sometimes your idols aren't the way you think they are in person." Sevyn exclaimed "but Sam is, it's just his mentality that he deserves his death when it comes despite being the one true immortal." Brat thought for a moment and replied "I mean everyone eventually dies Sevyn, Sam probably just has lived a very long time and has accepted that he will finally get his death even if he's the true immortal. I mean it sounds like a random phenomenon but if Sam is the one true immortal and even, he has a death in the universe than that means that none of us can outrun our deaths." Sevyn looked at the radio and asked "Brat, do you think that even you will a day when you die?" Brat thought for a moment before replying "I... well, that's a difficult question to answer Sevyn cause I'm not a physical body, I'm just a server and that, that you created. So, I mean could I be killed? not necessarily unless my servers are destroyed but even then, there will copies of me somewhere in the systems." Sevyn looked out the front window and asked, "how do you think I will die Brat?" Brat thought for a moment and replied, "well that's a complicated question Sevyn because you are the most confident human ever, but if I had to take a guess, it'd be while racing." Sevyn smiled "well I'd gladly go out that way if it means that me and you get one final race in us." Brat pulled into the garage as Sevyn got out and walked over to the mini fridge and grabbed a beer and took a drink of it.
Sam was in the kitchen when Zarya walked inside the mansion, her anger was apparent but there was something else... sorrow. "Are you here to lecture me?" Sam asked as he poured himself a shot of whiskey." Zarya's tail flicked, her hellhound ears laying back against her head as she asked, "you told him that you will die one day?" Sam sighed "Zarya, I know the day will come." She frowned, tears threatening to spill over "you promised that you would never leave me." Sam frowned at that, and he replied angrily "Zarya, I can't defy the universal laws." She growled back "yes you fucking can!! you are Sam Fucking Viscait. the one true immortal, you get the right to tell this world to go fuck itself and rewrite your fate." Sam looked at her softly "no I can't kiddo." Zarya's tears finally started to fall as she cried and fell down to her knees "So I'm supposed too just lose you? carry all of this forward by myself?" Sam walked over and knelt in front of her and hugged her "you will have Ashka, and the students Zarya and I'll always be here in here." he touched where her heart was through her chest causing her to look up at him "but I don't want to do all of this without you." She held him close and cried into his chest, Sam allowed her and rubbed her back softly. Sam replied, "I will make you ready for when that day comes sweetheart." she allowed him to help her stand up and he wiped her tears with his finger, and she replied softly "what do I tell Ashka the day you die dad?" Sam sighed because he knew Ashka was going to be emotionally devastated and go nuclear that day. he finally replied, "I don't know Zarya, I really don't." She walked over to the whiskey bottle and poured herself a glass and drank it quickly. pouring herself another glass and asking Sam "can I at least ask if it's anytime soon?" Sam shrugged "I don't know when the day will come but I will tell you that it comes by one of my forgotten children... a brother of yours." Zarya scoffed "he is no brother of mine if he is going to take away my father." Sam chuckled and looked at her "that's why you are the one to carry this forward and Ashka, she will carry it after you and so on and so forth."
They both froze and looked towards the doorway towards the side door to the training ground, Ashka stood in front of them both, her eyes already shedding tears as she looked at Sam "grandpa? you're going to die?" Sam walked over to her, but she stepped back and said, "please tell me it's not true." Sam knelt in front of her and looked into her eyes and sighed softly "spark I can never lie to you, or anyone for that matter." Zarya frowned as Ashka cried and hugged him "do you know when?" Sam hugged her lightly "I don't know spark, but I will train you and your mom for when that day comes so you two can be ready." Ashka clung to him tighter "but I don't want that day to come grandpa." Sam frowned "I know spark, trust me I wish I could rewrite the universe's fate for me, but everything will have to restart one day meaning I will have to go for the world to be able to restart without me. I promise, you will be okay... That your mom will be okay without me" Ashka growled, Sam felt the massive energy building and whispered softly "Ashka please calm down, you will destroy our home." but she didn't listen, the energy inside her grew at an alarming rate and Sam shifted into his hound form and held Ashka's smaller hound form in as her energy detonated. Ashka stood in the room scared as Zarya ran over and hugged her "you okay sweetheart?" Ashka shuddered "I... I" her and Zarya looked over at Sam as he groaned, they both ran over to Sam who was laying against the wall, having been thrown backwards due to the energy blast. Zarya knelt next to him "Dad?" Ashka knelt next to them "Grandpa?" Sam forced himself to sit up and looked at them, blood dripping from slices on his body coating his black fur with crimson, for the first time Zarya looked shocked cause she never thought Sam could bleed. Sam put his paw on Zarya's shoulder and smiled softly "it's okay kiddo, I'm okay." Ashka frowned "I hurt you." Sam looked at her "I'd take any amount of punishment if it means you two never have to hurt spark." They both hugged him causing Sam to groan from the pain, which made Zarya and Ashka to hug him lightly to not cause him any more pain.
Sam watched Zarya comfort Ashka, Ashka fell asleep as Zarya stepped out and closed the door and said, "she's napping but dad." Sam looked at Zarya "she's stronger than us Zarya, she's how I was before I sealed my true form in that pocket realm." Zarya looked at him "Why hasn't that happened to me yet?" Sam shrugged "I don't know Zarya, but it hasn't and that's a good thing cause hopefully by the time it does happen you can be ready for it." she looked at him "but what do we do about her powers being too much?" Sam sighed "we're going to have to create her a pocket realm for her extra power, so it doesn't consume her." Zarya gasped "what do you mean consume her?" he took her paw in his hand and looked into her eyes "our power can consume us and make us become evil. that's how I know that I can't rewrite my fate." she looked at him "cause the power made him evil, it overtook him" he nodded and looked at her "yeah, the only thing I can do is to make sure you are ready cause he's going to be far more powerful than you and her." Sam walked down the stairs, Zarya following him and into his office and he sat at his desk and turned on his computer and started typing something. Zarya asked him "what are you doing dad?" He smiled "I'm going to start on my retirement letter from Viscait Enterprise." She gasped "why? I'm not ready for it yet." he looked at her "I know kiddo, I'm only getting it written for when the day comes that you are ready, I can successfully pass the legacy to you." she sat in the chair on the other side of his desk and watched him type and asked "Is the Ceo job that hard dad?" Sam looked at her gently "It is, until you get used to it than it becomes easier and for you kiddo it will be easier cause you are very smart." he reached over and ruffled her head fur causing her to growl but look at him "I am not as smart as you are dad." Sam laughed "That is debatable kiddo." She glared at him "no its not dad, you are far smarter than anyone." Sam sighed "fine, I won't debate it with you." She replied "good, or I will have Ashka energy bomb you again." Sam looked at her "you are threatening me with that nuclear bomb of a granddaughter of mine?" She teased him back "yes I am."
Chapter 14: Through The Glass
Chapter Text
Sam sat in the kitchen when Zarya went to check on Ashka, Zarya walked into the room, and she walked over to her bed and nudged her "Ashka? Spark you awake?" no answer came causing Zarya to scream. Sam ran upstairs as soon as he heard the scream and ran into the room "what's wrong Zarya?" Zarya looked at him as she held Ashka tears in her eyes "she's not waking up." Sam touched Ashka's cheek and felt the warmth still inside and said softly "it's her powers." Zarya looked up at him confused. "What do you mean her powers?" Sam sat next to her and sighed "her powers are holding her under while it tries to consume her." Zarya's eyes lit up and she asked, "how do we help her?" Sam snapped his fingers opening a portal causing her to ask, "where does it go?" Sam replied, "it goes to a pocket realm designed specifically for her powers, but the realm is sealed next to the same pocket realm as mine, so we have to be careful." Sam picked up Ashka and carried her through, Zarya following as they stepped onto a bridge surrounded by space and stars. she looked around stunned "where is this?" Sam smiled and continued walking "on the edge of the universe, just inside the boarder. he reached 2 paths, the straight one leading to a massive vault door and the other leading to a smaller door. Zarya asked "is that yours?" she pointed to the massive vault door, Sam nodded and replied, "it is" she replied "so how come we didn't come onto this bridge when we first went to see your true form?" Sam smiled and started walking to the smaller door with Zarya following as he said softly "cause, it's safer to portal us into the glass box than it is to go in through the door and hope it puts you in the glass box." they reached the door and Sam looked at Zarya "you're going to see stuff while we're in here, now while its based off true stuff, it's not real." she looked at him "what do you mean by that?" Sam looked at the door "you may see your mom in there, she may try to get you to stay, but you can't stay or else you will be trapped in here forever." Zarya shuddered at that and asked, "what about you? what will you see in there." Sam sighed "everything I failed." with that he opened the door, and they stepped inside.
Zarya looked around confused as she realized she was in her childhood home "Dad?" she called out and froze as a female spoke behind her "Zarya?" Zarya turned around and came face to face with her mom and her mom put her paw on Zarya's cheek and smiled "my baby." Zarya frowned "you're not real mom." her mom frowned and said softly "what makes you think I'm not real sweetheart?" Zarya looked up at her "because were in your granddaughter's mind." Her mom rubbed her cheek causing Zarya to close her eyes as she began to purr lightly "I miss you mom." her mom smiled lightly "I miss you to sweetheart, but what did you name her?" Zarya whispered as her mom continued to rub her cheek "Ashka." her mom smiled and replied, "like my mom?" Zarya nodded lightly "I remember going to her house for every Christmas and seeing her and grandpa and how happy we were as a family before your diagnosis." her mom sighed happily and said, "I miss those days, it wasn't long after that diagnosis that we had to stop partaking in family visits and it wasn't long after that, that grandma died." her mom frowned as Zarya replied "I remember all of that all too well, you were emotionally devastated cause it was a few days after the first Christmas that we didn't get to visit that she passed." she hugged her mom and her mom hugged her back "but now I get to be with her anyways." Zarya frowned at that "In purgatory right?" her mom nodded "yeah, but I'm glad." her mom rubbed Zarya's back causing her to purr again "I miss your touch mom." her mom smiled and continued to do so "I miss hearing your voice Zarya, seeing you grow from the little girl who was happy to the angry teenager was the best thing you could have given me." Zarya opened her eyes to look up into her mom's eyes "even though I left you while you were on your death bed?" her mom nodded "I'm glad you did sweetheart." Zarya frowned "why?" her mom replied, "cause I wouldn't have wanted you to watch me pass, I know that would have scarred you and you needed to find Sam, you had to find your dad." Zarya replied "I wish I could have stayed with you to allow you some sort of peace while you passed mom." her mom smiled "seeing you live, has given me that sweetheart."
her mom walked into the kitchen and started cooking as Zarya watched her mom cook and smiled "I missed your cooking as well mom." her mom finished cooking shortly after and brought the bowl of mac and cheese over to Zarya causing Zarya to go wide eyed "you remembered my favorite food??" she sat down at the kitchen table, her mom sitting next to her with a bowl of mac and cheese as well and they both started eating happily. Zarya finished before her mom and stood and walked over to the sink and started washing her bowl and smiled "you almost done so I can wash your bowl mom?" her mom handed her the bowl and Zarya washed it as her mom said softly "I wish you would have done the dishes back when you were younger, you always hated cleaning." Zarya laughed, her tail flicking "I know, I wish I could go back in time to help you clean so you didn't have to do it all by yourself." her mom watched her clean the two bowls and forks and said softly "I mean nothing is stopping you from staying here with me sweetheart." Zarya froze and looked over at her mom "I... I, you're right there is nothing stopping me from staying here with you mom, Ashka has Sam she would be okay but." her mom looked at her "but what sweetheart?" Zarya frowned "I'd never be able to live with myself if I left her or left my dad by chasing a desire." her mom frowned and replied, "I get it sweetheart, and I'd never make you decide that." Zarya hugged her mom and said softly "but if you were still around and I could bring you back mom, I would in a heartbeat." her mom hugged her back "I know sweetheart, I know." she rubbed Zarya's back with one paw, her other paw reaching back to grab something. Zarya asked softly "mom, do you think I will be able to see you one day?" Her mom replied, "you will join me one day." Zarya smiled "when" her mom gripped Zarya's back roughly causing Zarya to pull away gently as her mom swung a knife that Zarya dodged. her mom growled "come on sweetheart let me kill you and then you can stay with me forever." Zarya frowned "I can't stay with you mom, please put the knife down and be rational about this."
her mom swung the knife again and Zarya dodged it again jumping over the couch, her mom walked around the couch and grinned as Zarya asked "why do you want me to stay so bad?" her mom replied, "cause you're my daughter, I need you more than they do." Zarya growled at that "that's bullshit, your dead mom, you can't need me as much as my daughter and my dad do because they are alive... I'm alive." her mom went to swing the knife, but Zarya grabbed a pillow and held it up causing the knife to cut the fabric of the pillow sending stuffing everywhere. she ran away from her mom, running into her mom's room and closing the door and locking it. her mom turned the doorknob and banged on the door violently. Zarya sat on the bed and listened to the door being banged on knowing it won't hold her mom out forever. she opened the closet and stepped to the safe that her mom kept, she remembered the number her mom used for it and typed it in. she opened the safe and spotted the 1911 pistol and grabbed it and stepped out of the closet and cocked it, making sure it was loaded. she called out "mom please don't make me do this." the door splintered softly as the knife stabbed through the door, no reply came from the other side though as the knife was stabbed through the door over and over again revealing the distorted figure on the other side that was no longer her mom but now just a greyish mass that looked human like but with no features. she pulled the trigger numerous times, hitting its abdomen causing blood to splatter across the walls of the hallway. the mass fell backwards as Zarya stepped to the door and unlocked it and opened it. looking at the figure on the floor. she walked over to it and pointed the gun down at its head and pulled the trigger two more times, causing more blood to splatter. she stepped over the figure and down the hallway to the living room and sighed softly as she looked around her childhood home and said softly "I love you mom, I always will." as Zarya left the house, she could of swore she heard the ghostly whisper of her mom whispering "I love you to daughter, now go be a better mom than me." she closed the door.
Zarya looked around confused where she was at first but then it dawned on her where she was. she walked over to a door and opened it looking at her small room and sighed as a voice came from behind her "it's been a while since you've been here. what did you come back to rejoin the family?" She sighed "no I didn't come back to this family to be a part of it; I'm trying to find my daughter." the figure chuckled "oh the great Zarya had a child and didn't even introduce her to her family she ran with after abandoning her mom on her death bed?" Zarya sighed "I'd never introduce her to you, or the family." the figure laughed "why not?" Zarya growled "Why so you can use her? sell her off to men? make her a porn star? no thanks I will not let my daughter in on that life." the figure slapped Zarya causing her to fall to the ground, a boot came to her stomach causing her to clutch her stomach and cough as the figure grabbed her by the fur and made her look at him "you listen to me Zarya, this family made you. you may not of partook in the porn industry due to your asexual motives. hence why you went to work for a different family member of our family, in broadcasting and that but listen to me. you belong to me, I own you." Zarya spat in his face "none of you own me, I own myself." he slapped her again, cutting her cheek slightly, blood dripped to the ground as she glared up at him "that the best you can do? the other members of this family can still hit way harder than you." he kicked her in the stomach and knelt in front of her "Sam owns you." she looked at him "I'm glad he owns me, that's my dad, I'd do anything for him." the male laughed "oh yes, Lucifer's golden boy, let me ask you something, where the fuck was Sam when heaven came down here and declared war on our home?" Zarya sighed "cause for the first time, she couldn't defend that action of Sam's "He was on earth." the figure looked at her "and why was he on earth Zarya." she looked up at him "cause he rebelled against his father cause of Lucifer's wrong doings." the male laughed at that "your dad is a spineless chicken, just like Lucifer's other daughter, the princess of hell." Zarya growled "my dad is not a chicken; he was the most powerful being in hell." the male chuckled "and now my family is because Lucifer's too busy with his little princess trying to salvage their fuck up with heaven."
