Chapter Text
In the not too distant future, in a world parallel to our own, a highly sophisticated computer virus called Venjix was accidentally unleashed. Taking control of Earth's computers and creating an army of robot "Grinder" droids, he destroys or enslaves almost all of humanity. Only the city of Corinth remains, protected by an almost impenetrable force field from the toxic atmosphere of the wasteland outside. To combat Venjix's encroaching evil, the mysterious Doctor K creates the RPM Power Rangers to fight him off.
The ragtag team consists initially consists of of Air Force pilot Scott Truman (aka Rangers Series Operator Red, also the son of Col. Mason Truman), hero obsessed mechanic Flynn McAllistair (aka Rangers Series Operator Blue), and reformed airhead socialite Summer Landsdown (aka aka Rangers Series Operator Yellow) to operate their weapons and gear. Later, Doctor K recruits Dillon (aka Rangers Series Operator Black), a rebellious amnesiac drifter whom Venjix had experimented on, and Ziggy Grover (aka Rangers Series Operator Green), a former mob henchman whom Dillon begrudgingly befriended. In addition to unique weapons, vehicles, and abilities, the Rangers can call upon powerful Zords, robots that can combine to become even more powerful.
In addition to his Grinder army, Venjix also has a group of robot generals consisting of General Shifter, General Crunch, General Kilobyte, and Tenaya 7, the latter a robot in the guise of a human female for infiltration missions. Venjix also creates various special robots with unique abilities to take down the Rangers, but all are defeated by their Zords.
It is eventually revealed that Doctor K was the one who created Venjix, having intended to only use it to escape her confinement from the treacherous underground think tank, Alphabet Soup, but was intercepted before she had a chance to install the safety protocols, allowing Venjix to escape into the outside world. Among the other test subjects were twin siblings Gem and Gemma, whom K thought had perished, but would discover they had escaped with the Gold and Silver Ranger prototypes. The two are a bit explosion happy, but over time became very valued allies.
Throughout the battle with Venjix, Dillon is trying to recover his lost memories, which includes finding a young woman he believes to be his sister. He must also struggle with a built in virus slowly taking over his body, which will result in him being a permanent slave of Venjix. In time it's discovered that Tenaya is in fact not an infiltration robot, but a cyborg, and Dillon's sister! At first conflicted, she joins her brother and the other Rangers in the battle against the evil AI, who constructs a body for himself to personally take out of the Rangers. In the final conflict all seems lost at first, but all forces are able to band together and destroy Venjix permanently.
In the aftermath, the Rangers retire their morphers and prepare for new lives. Scott, Gem, and Gemma are chosen to lead a fighter squad run by Col. Truman, Flynn plans to open up a computer store with his dad, Ziggy and Dr. K plan to open a school for children, and Dillon, Summer, and Tenaya leave Corinth to help rebuild Earth (and hopefully uncover their past).
This is not the end for them...
