Chapter Text
You walk into the conference room. It’s your first day working for Dr. Gregory House. And what an honor it is! He has a reputation for being edgy and gruff, with a penchant for melodrama. You knew this going into the interview, but your first time meeting him was still the stuff of legends. His wit, his charm… the man was more magnetic than a small meteor. Quickly you ascertain that this is why he acts like the world revolved around him– it does.
Getting the job offer was one of the happiest, and perhaps scariest, days of your life. The man that was larger than life wanted you to be on his famed diagnostic medicine team.
Would you rise to the challenge?
Will you make friends with your coworkers?
Will you gain House’s approval?
Only time would yield these answers. Today marked the start of something new.
You arrive early for your onboarding meeting and are met with a stone cold fox. A classy broad who didn’t look a day over 27, introduces herself as Dr. Lisa Cuddy, and handles all of your certification paperwork. You can’t help but think during the entirety of your encounter about all the other things you would gladly let her handle as well. Hopefully, you’ll see more of her around. She gives you a tour of the hospital, ending with the conference room where House’s team meets on the regular.
9:00
Shit, I’m the first person here. Rookie mistake, but not much to be done about it now. An hour goes by before the first of your coworkers begin trickling in. Each of them, much like ants in a parade, repeat the same path from the door to the coffee machine, to the fridge and back with cream, and finally to their seat at the table. Once sat comfortably, with a few swigs of their life force warming their belly, they groggily introduce themselves to you.
You meet:
-
13, a tall and sassy brunette with haunting eyes and desperation to be seen as aloof
-
Cameron, a mousy woman, seemingly a water sign, with a dark edge.
-
Amber, a blonde neurotic woman with a gritty yet arrogant flair.
-
Kutner, an Indian orphan, kind and soft as a teddy bear
-
Taub, a humble-looking man, possibly closely related to Lord Farquaad with a dry and sardonic sense of humor
-
Chase, a trust-fund playboy, (Australian?) and flowing blonde hair
And finally, a Dr. James Wilson introduced himself to you that morning. It seemed his office neighbored House’s and that they shared a close relationship. How close remained a mystery, and part of you feels compelled to crack it.
House quickly starts listing out facts about the case. Demographics, symptoms, preliminary test results. It is looking like some sort of infection, and perhaps something bacterial.
Scenarios:
-
“Could it be meningitis?” You say hopefully and excitedly. Go to 6.
-
“It seems bacterial. Have we checked for toxins in the home yet?” Go to 7.
-
“Let’s do a lumbar puncture and run his marrow” Go to 5.
