No Mercy

Summary:

Edit.
A friend told me to continue, so...

Just KATSEYE playing UNO No Mercy... And maybe some other games.

Notes:

Lara doesn't want to play UNO. Manon insists. Let’s just say… she really shouldn't have.

Chapter 1: Seven Swap

Chapter Text

Playing cards in their downtime was never simple. Not with KATSEYE.
And especially not when it was UNO No Mercy.

They didn’t just bend the rules. They shredded them. Stacking +2s and +4s into ten-card chains? Allowed. Stacking skip cards? Encouraged. Using a literal roulette when the Wild Color Roulette Card was in play? They didn’t even remember who thought of it. The “25 card rule” had been vetoed weeks ago after Yoonchae got knocked out too early, which meant that in their games nobody got mercy. You could sit with forty cards in your hand and still technically be alive. Chaos was guaranteed.

It was loud, lawless, and exhausting.
But they wouldn’t have it any other way.

The six of them sat cross-legged in a circle on the living room floor. Sophia was already glowing with anticipation. To her left sat Manon, shuffling the deck like a smug dealer. Then Yoonchae, bouncing lightly on her knees. Lara sat opposite Sophia, closest to the couch, calm and withdrawn, knees tucked in. Next was Megan, arms crossed but smirking. Then Daniela, legs stretched out, eyes sharp.

Sophia had fetched the deck, but Manon claimed it instantly. She shuffled with exaggerated flourishes, cards snapping loud enough to echo.

“I’m not playing,” Lara said flatly before the first card was dealt, moving to sit on the couch instead.

Sophia gasped like she’d cursed the group. “Blasphemy!”

“You can’t skip UNO night,” Daniela said, scandalized.

“I mean…” Megan started, a smirk tugging at her lips. “She can.”

“Unnie!” Yoonchae latched onto her, preventing her from getting up from the floor. “You have to play.”

But Manon was relentless. She dealt the cards with a theatrical grin, sliding a pile in front of Lara with finality. “No, she can’t skip. I’m not asking. You’re playing.”

Lara sighed, fanning the cards slowly. “Fine. But when this ends badly, don’t look at me.”

“It always ends badly,” Yoonchae giggled, finally letting her go.

“She’s just mad about yesterday,” Daniela laughed. “She was so angry at Megan.”

“I was literally just playing with the cards I had!” Megan defended herself. “And when our knees touched she was like ‘Stop hitting me,’ and I was like, ‘Bro! I barely touched you!’”

“I wasn’t angry. I’m not angry,” Lara said.

“Oh no, you were,” Sophia said. “You got sooo red in the face.”

The attention was dragged back to the game when Manon put the first card on the pile.

It was a blue +2 from Manon.

“Ohhh, we’re starting strong,” Manon said proudly.

Yoonchae immediately stacked her own yellow +2, squealing.

Lara flipped through her hand twice. She couldn’t really do anything. “…I hate you.” She drew four with deliberate slowness.

Sophia clutched her chest. “She didn’t even want to play, and you’re already bullying her!”

“She’s getting mad again!” Megan screamed while putting down a yellow 3.

Lara tucked the extra cards into her hand without a word.

The rounds spiraled.

Sophia gleefully threw down a Skip Everyone, leaning back smug as the game jumped straight back to her. “Bye, losers. It’s me again. And again. And I’m changing color to blue!”

The table groaned. “You’re insufferable,” Megan muttered.

Manon smirked at Yoonchae and threw down a Wild Color Roulette Card. “I’m sorry,” she said innocently.

“Nooo!” Yoonchae cried when Sophia pushed the roulette toward her, but soon the youngest was giggling. “It’s going to be yellow, you’ll see.”

The spinner clattered. Yoonchae had her hand over the draw pile as the roulette landed on yellow.

“Oh my god!” Daniela screamed. “You can’t be that lucky!”

“Let’s see the card now! There’s no way it’s yellow!” Manon pushed.

Yoonchae kept giggling and then drew the card, showing everyone that it was, in fact, yellow.

“Yeeeeeeeeeeeeees!” she screamed, as if she had just won.

“I can’t believe it!” Manon was flabbergasted.

“I hate the roulette. It’s broken,” Sophia said.

“It’s okay. She hates you too,” Yoonchae teased.

“Cinema,” Daniela declared, clapping once.

Lara barely smiled, playing a yellow 6. Megan also played a 6, but green.

Then Daniela played a Discard All in green, shedding half her hand in one move.

“Look at that!” she crowed, tossing her hair dramatically.

“Nooo!” Megan groaned, staring at her own fat hand.

“Skill issue,” Daniela said smugly.

Megan narrowed her eyes.

“I got you, Megan,” said Sophia. “Try this.” She dropped a reverse +4. Daniela howled when she had to draw.

“You’re obsessed with me!” Daniela accused.

“Correct,” Megan said, completely deadpan, and Sophia laughed.

Throughout the game, Sophia and Yoonchae had formed their own warzone: skips, reverses, wilds. The problem was Manon sat directly between them.

“Stop skipping me!” Manon cried after Sophia played her third skip in a row in a color she knew Yoonchae didn’t have.

“You’re collateral damage,” Sophia said sweetly.

“Strategic!” Yoonchae added, cackling. She slammed a reverse, flipping the game back at Sophia, surprising her and Manon, who had to draw because she didn’t have the color anymore.

“STOP USING ME AS A SHIELD!” Manon yelled, clutching her cards dramatically.

“You deserve it,” Sophia said.

“You’re both evil,” Manon groaned.

Through it all, Lara played quiet.
A yellow five. A blue nine. A discard-all that wiped out her blues.

No celebrations. No complaints. Her hand swelled, but she stayed unreadable.

But her eyes flicked constantly: Sophia burning through yellows, Yoonchae hoarding reds, Daniela flinching every time it turned green. And Manon—her pile shrinking fast, suspiciously fast.

They thought Lara was sulking.
But she was watching.
And she was waiting.

The tension built. Sophia got knocked with a ten-card draw, slamming them into the floor so hard the pile bent. Megan laughed until she fell sideways. Later, Yoonchae squealed as she dodged another stack by passing it to Lara, who just sighed. Daniela and Megan’s duel escalated into screaming insults, softened only by laughter.

And then it happened.

Manon dropped a blue four, her pile down to one. She slapped her card down with a triumphant shout. “UNO!”

The table roared.

“Cheater!” Daniela yelled immediately.

“She definitely cheated,” Sophia gasped.

“I did not!” Manon crowed, grinning so wide it hurt. “I’m just better than all of you.”

Yoonchae slapped the pile dramatically. “You’re not walking out alive.”

Then she giggled and played a red four.

And Lara, with absolute calm, placed her next card. “It’s just a seven,” she said.

A red seven.

Manon froze. Sophia sat up straight. “Wait... what?”

“Ohhhhoooo,” Megan and Daniela started laughing.

Yoonchae was stunned.

Lara gathered her mountain of cards neatly, extended her hand across the circle, and murmured, “Give it here.”

Manon’s grin collapsed. “No. Don’t you dare. Don’t you dare.”

Sophia screamed, “Seven swap!”

Daniela fell backward, wheezing with laughter. Yoonchae squealed, covering her face. Megan shook her head slowly. “She’s evil.”

Groaning like she’d been cursed, Manon shoved her single card at Lara, dragging the swollen pile toward herself.

Lara plucked the lone card. She didn’t even look at it, set it in front of her, and whispered, “UNO,” with a smile.

The circle erupted.

Manon wailed, flopping onto her back. “NOOOO!”

Megan wiped her eyes, shaking with laughter. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, this is all I had!” She tossed a red reverse into the pile.

“Don’t worry, babe,” Lara said calmly. She looked at her own card and then smiled, sliding her last card down. “Me too.”

Another red reverse.

Game.

For a heartbeat, the room was silent.

Then Sophia shrieked, pointing at Manon. “This is YOUR fault! You begged her to play!”

Manon shot to her feet, pacing like she’d been robbed. “I had it! I HAD IT!” She stormed toward the door, yanked it open, then slammed it shut again as she turned back, still shouting. “I can’t believe this!”

And Lara broke. The silence she’d carried all game shattered into wild, breathless laughter. She stumbled to her feet, doubled over, clutching her stomach as tears ran down her cheeks.

“You made me play!” she gasped between wheezes. “You made me! I didn’t want to play!”

Manon rounded on her, laughing too but furious through her grin. “You’re evil! Actually evil!”

Megan fell sideways, helpless. Yoonchae shrieked, squealing as she kicked the air. Daniela hid behind her hands, shoulders shaking violently. Sophia clapped like she was at a concert.

At the center, Lara and Manon faced each other, both furious, both undone, both laughing so hard it hurt.

Raw. Unhinged. Ridiculous.
UNO No Mercy.
KATSEYE.

Chapter 2: Sophia vs. the world

Summary:

Sophia swore she was untouchable, well, that's not true.

Chapter Text

It was a new day, a new game, and somehow, the same chaos.

They had promised to keep it simple this time. The same UNO No Mercy, just no physical roulette wheel, no experimental rules Megan had found at three in the morning. Just their usual brand of stacked, twisted, unhinged play.

Of course, simple meant nothing when it came to KATSEYE.

They sat in their usual spots, split across the dining table like rival armies. On one side: Manon, Sophia, Daniela. On the other: Yoonchae, Lara, Megan. It gave the game the feel of a standoff. Each girl had a rival directly across from her: Manon against Yoonchae, Sophia against Lara, Daniela against Megan.

But today, the spotlight was squarely on Sophia.

Sophia, who thrived in this environment. Sophia who just wanted to win. She leaned forward, elbows on the table, her grin bright and dangerous, her cards fanned out like a deck of knives.

“Okay, okay,” she said, voice rich with drama, “I am warning you right now. Nobody touch me. Nobody target me. I am innocent.”

Manon snorted beside her. “You? Innocent?”

“Angelic,” Sophia declared, one hand to her chest.

“More like a gremlin,” Megan muttered from across the table, making Lara laugh.

Daniela clapped once, sharp. “Focus. We are not letting Sophia win today. Last time she got away with murder.” She glanced at Megan, then at Lara, who only shook her head with a small smile.

Manon shared a look with Yoonchae across the table, who was already bouncing in her chair, ready to cause trouble.

“That was my pure skill,” Sophia shot back. “You were all jealous.” She said while tossing her hair back over her shoulder, then, she looked at Daniela. “Stop looking at my cards!”

“I’m literally looking at Lara!” She said exasperated, seeking help from the younger girl, who nodded trying to appear serious. “If someone cheats, that’s you. Exactly like last time!”

Sophia looked flabbergasted. Manon, helpful as always, called on her too. And so did Yoonchae.

“You cheated,” Yoonchae said flatly, her eyes already sparkling.

“I did not cheat,” Sophia corrected, smug. “I bent probability.”

Manon set the first card, she usually started, saying she was the oldest: a blue +2.

“Lovely,” Sophia purred, and stacked her own +2 on top.

Daniela immediately followed with another +2.

Megan grinned, staring Sophia down from across the table. “Eat this.” She slapped another +2.

Lara calmly placed down a +4.

Everyone turned to Yoonchae, who lifted her hands dramatically. “Don’t look at me. I don’t have one.” She dragged fourteen cards from the pile, fanning them out like a ridiculous bouquet. “This is bullying. You don't respect the maknae.”

Sophia leaned back, her grin wider than ever. “Consider it divine justice.”

“Divine?” Yoonchae laughed. “You’re going straight to hell.”

Megan folded her arms smugly. “She can sit next to me and Lara.”

Within minutes, the dining table was already a battlefield. More +2s were chained into +4s and +6s, no +10s yet. Wilds were slammed one after another until the draw pile groaned. Skip Everyone cards left the whole table screaming in protest. Typical.

The game stretched on. Voices grew louder. Every round came with groans, cheers, and accusations.

At one point, Lara slapped down a 7. “Swap.”

Megan didn’t hesitate. She reached across, and the two exchanged hands. Their fingers brushed as they passed cards, and both smirked.

“You just wanted to see what I had,” Megan teased.

“Now I know your secrets,” Lara replied calmly, but smiling.

Daniela groaned. “Play the game, not each other.”

Megan placed one of Lara’s old cards without blinking. “We are playing.”

From then on, Lara and Megan acted like a team. They shielded each other when possible, even blocking chains that would have destroyed Yoonchae.

The youngest noticed quickly. Her grin turned wicked as she raised her hand of chaos — wilds, +2s, +4s, +10s, skips. “Boom! Skip All. Boom! +4. And the color is green.”

“Why me?” Manon groaned.

“Because you’re across from me,” Yoonchae said sweetly, as a matter of fact.

Manon suffered through the punishment but found her revenge quickly, stacking cards to push the damage straight into Sophia’s lap.

Sophia screamed. “Why always me?!”

“Because you declared yourself innocent,” Daniela said smugly.

“And angels must fall,” Yoonchae added, gleeful.

Sophia clawed her way back down to three cards, then two.

She leapt to her feet. “UNO! The heavens protect me!”

Daniela narrowed her eyes. “She’s hiding something.”

“You’re the one peeking at her hand,” Manon accused.

“I am not!” Daniela gasped.

“You are!”

Sophia whipped her head between them. “Wait, you’re both spying on me?!”

The two kept bickering until, with perfect timing, they leaned over her shoulders and swapped cards behind her head.

The others broke. Megan fell against Lara’s arm, wheezing with laughter. Yoonchae squealed so loudly she nearly toppled out of her chair. Lara shook her head, but her smirk betrayed her.

Sophia didn’t notice, but she still feel betrayed. “What’s going on? You traitors!”

“Strategy,” Daniela said innocently.

“Collateral,” Manon added.

“That’s my line!” Sophia shrieked.

They made Sophia eat cards, but surprisingly, after a while, once again she had a single card.

“This is destiny!” she cried, holding it high. “The angel triumphs!”

Daniela, Megan and Lara keep playing as normally as they could, they couldn’t do anything, but they knew Yoonchae could. After all, they secretly were feeding her with cards under the table, without Sophia noticing.

“Not today,” Yoonchae said, eyes sparkling. She dropped a +10 on Manon.

Manon groaned but immediately turned it on Sophia with a matching +10.

Sophia screamed, collapsed onto the table, and dragged twenty cards into her hand. “This is blasphemy!”

The others were crying with laughter.

The end came fast after that. Megan and Lara kept playing as one, keeping Yoonchae safe, giving her o taking her cards under the table. Manon and Daniela never stopped their fake feud, slipping cards back and forth over Sophia’s head whenever she wasn’t looking. And Sophia, for all her dramatics, was drowned under an avalanche of cards.

In the end, it was Yoonchae who played her last wild.

“And that’s a game!” she squealed, slamming it down. “Maknae wins!”

The table erupted in cheers, well…

“Nooooo!” Sophia howled, cards scattering as she threw herself onto the floor. “I was robbed!”

Daniela and Manon high-fived above her. Megan leaned into Lara, both laughing helplessly. Yoonchae kicked her legs under the table, basking in her chaos.

Just another game night for KATSEYE.
