Chapter Text
All the leaves were turning yellow, and the sky was turning dark grey. The rain was gently hitting the glass windows and the thunder was coming closer to Ramon and Bullfrog's house. Their place was a small cosy house not too far out of what was once Megacity Four. The couple had wanted to move to the outskirts of the city so that they could have some peace and quiet, but not be too far out so that they could still both visit their friends.
Ever since the fall of Eden, Ramon and Bullfrog enjoyed the time that they finally got with each other. Their friends would always say that they were joined at the hip, that they had never seen two people so in love who didn't need to do much to display that fact. It was plain to see that they were always looking out for each other no matter the situation. It was good for the soul to see such a happy couple.
Ramon was starting to stir awake from his early afternoon nap whilst Bullfrog was reading that the Brotherhood had kept of an Assassin that lived in Paris during the time of the French Revolution.
"Bullfrog, you're still in bed?" Ramon murmured as he started to rub his eyes to get rid of the sleepy dust that had formed.
"I'm still in bed Ramon, I wanted to keep you company whilst you slept. Plus, you look so tranquil when you sleep. I just wanted to see your pretty face." The hybrid chuckled as he took off his reading glasses and closed the journal he was reading.
Ramon began to sit up slightly, still trying to shake the grogginess that comes with waking up.
"How long have I been asleep for? I hope it's not late afternoon."
Checking the time, the amphibian replied, "It's around 12:30 and you went back to bed at 11."
"Oh good. I haven't been asleep for too long then." The thingamajig laughed.
Shortly after speaking, the thunder began to bang and crash near their house, causing the blond to fully sit upright, the joy draining out of his face as fear clouded his eyes. Ramon never liked thunderstorms, especially after the events that had unfolded that caused him to flee to America. It would only keep reminding him of the day where he had lost everything. Bullfrog was starting to see that Ramon was having a panic attack so he began to hold the thingamajig in his arms, carefully rocking him back and forth to comfort him.
"It's ok amour, I'm here with you. No one can hurt you now." The assassin quietly whispered, laying his head on top of his partner.
"The thunder will be continuing throughout the day but we can stay here like this for as long as you need to." He told him, kissing Ramon on the forehead to try and calm him down.
"I don't want to keep you from doing what you need to do. I always end up being in your way..." Ramon sobbed, breathing quickly as if all the air in the room had been sucked out.
"Ramon, I am your husband. I promised to you in my vows that I will always be there for you no matter what, and I will stick to those words until I take my last breath on this planet. I love you too much to leave you feeling like this." Bullfrog reassured him.
For a while, they didn't exchange any words and sat there in silence, holding each other as the rain and thunder continued on. The frog sat still and closed his eyes as he let his partner softly cry into his chest until he finally spoke again.
"What were you planning to do anyways?" Ramon asked.
"I was going to go and prepare to make a homemade soup and wanted to know if you wanted to help me make it."
"That sounds like it could be fun." Ramon sniffed as he weakly smiled at Bullfrog, trying to stop showing the guilt and pain he felt over everything. However, Bullfrog could still see that he wasn't feeling good and still offered to stay by his side.
"No, it's ok honey, I'll be fine by myself for now. If you want to go ahead and make the food you can. I'll just join you in a bit." The thingamajig reassured him.
"If you are sure that you will be fine then I will go and get ready to make the soup." The hybrid told him as he walked over to the door of the room.
Chapter Text
Once he had gotten into a state where he was mostly calm, the thingamajig got into his favourite clothes and walked to the kitchen, ready to help his husband. Bullfrog was beginning to prepare all the pots, knifes, vegetables, herbs and spices that would be needed to make a hearty homemade soup. He had asked Ramon to peel certain vegetables to try and help the blond take his mind off of the fear that he felt. The frog chopped up the ingredients as finely as possible before seasoning it, ready to be blended with the stock. The couple stood there in the kitchen, letting time fly by as they talked about their lives. The thingamajig talked about some nasty singers that he had to deal with in his most recent recording sessions whilst the amphibian talked about his time training some of the latest set of assassin students in Megacity Three.
As Ramon watched Bullfrog nimbly dice some onions up, he looked down at his golden wedding ring and began to think about the happiest days of their lives. He was reminiscing about the venue that they had booked out in the rural countryside of France. The assassin suggested to go back to his home country since it had not been to destroyed by the Templar's sky-high buildings and motorways paved for futuristic cars. Even though everything hadn't gone fully to plan like they had hoped for, they still enjoyed being able to spend the day with each other, as well as the friends that they hold close to them. Snapping back from the thought, the thingamajig had asked Bullfrog a question that crossed his mind as he heated up the vegetable stock.
"Hey darling. Do you ever wonder if the other members of the Brotherhood have worked out that you are wearing a wedding ring on one of your fingers?"
"Well, it's gold like the other rings that I wear to activate my blades. I suppose that none of the students have worked out that it is missing out emblem being engraved on it. If they have worked it out, then none of them have pointed it out which is a shame. I train these people to have a keen eyes for small details as well as all the fighting and what the creed stands for." The hybrid replied, looking over at the wedding ring that Ramon was wearing on his left ring finger.
"I guess people have asked you about your wedding ring? I would be shocked if people did not notice it on your finger as you play your instruments." The frog questioned.
"Oh man do I get asked a million questions about it. They all want to know who you are and how we met. I don't really want to tell them that your job is to assassinate people and that we met when I was high and was left a cryptic message to go and find you so I just say that I married a hybrid who is into very creative things such as poetry and culinary arts."
"Also, no matter how many times I tell my co-workers that you are a guy, they all still think that you are a woman for some reason." Ramon said in a confused tone. "I guess they just can't grasp the fact that I like men." he laughed as he poured out some of the vegetable stock into the blender, and the rest into small containers as portion sizes.
"Hm, that's very interesting that they keep asking about me and also thinking that you are straight. I wonder if these people realise that bisexual men exist." The hybrid tittered.
"I don't really care about what these people think about me and our relationship. I'm done with letting people control how I feel. The only thing that matters to me is that I have you by my side." Replied the blond, gently pecking Bullfrog on the cheek.

Now that the food had been mostly prepared, Bullfrog had decided to do the dishes to clean up the pots and pans, as well as other utensils that were used, leaving Ramon in charge of pureeing the vegetables and mixing it into the stock.
"Is the lid on correctly cheri?" Asked the assassin, still standing at the sink with his back turned to the thingamajig who was trying his best to place the lid on the top of the blender correctly.
"Yeah, I'm sure I put it on. Don't be so worried honey." Reassured the blond.
As soon as the machine was turned on, the whizzing began, followed up by a scream and many curses being yelled out by Ramon.
"SHIT! GOD DAMN YOU BITCH! FUCKING HELL!" He continued to yell until he turned the blender off.
Bullfrog immediately turned around to see the carnage that Ramon had let loose. The lid was in fact not put on correctly, as orange soup was splattered all around the kitchen. It was mostly covering the walls, celling and floor, but also coated itself over the blond and his clothes. He turned to look at the frog as if he were a cat that had just been taken out of a bath.
"So uh, I may have fucked up..."
The hybrid just stood there silently, trying to process what happened with a shocked look on his face. All that could be heard outside was the distant, gentil sound of rain and thunder before the amphibian burst out into laughter, causing Ramon to laugh with him too.
"Oh Ramon, never change." Gently sighed Bullfrog as the laughter wore off.
The assassin dried his hands and walked over to the thingamajig, wiping off some of the soup that was on the side of his cheek and licked it from his finger trying to assess if the food was good or not. After all, Bullfrog was the one with the better palette and actually knew how to cook.
"Well, I feel like we could add a little bit more salt and some more mixed herbs to the soup we have left in containers. But other than that, I think we made something that tastes amazing!" He joyously exclaimed as he tried to kiss Ramon on a part of his face that wasn't covered in soup.
Suddenly, Ramon was struck with an idea.
"Hey Bullfrog. Do you want a hug?" The limbless thing teased as he mover closer to the frog, trying to give him a bear hug.
"Ramon!" He laughed. "Please don't hug hug me, you're covered in soup!" the amphibian continued as he playfully, but softly, pushed the thingamajig away.
"Alright, alright I'll stop and go take a shower." The blond laughed, walking out of the kitchen to head to the bathroom.
Once the shower was running, Bullfrog heated up what was left of the soup as he thought about the time he spends with Ramon. It had made him realise that whenever they were with each other, all of their troubles and worries seemed to slip away. It was almost like they were meant to be in each other's lives, like a fait that had been written for them and they didn't even know it. It all felt weirdly romantic yet poetic to the assassin.
