Bakugou (Y/N) has always been the invisible one in the family according to everyone except her dad. Katsuki was always her mother's favorite and it showed in more ways than one.

(Y/N) loathed the two of them with everything she had, but still she tried to please them. Most of the time her mother punished her for things her brother had done, leaving her with more scars and more pain. She just prayed that one day she'd make it out of the hell she called her home.

All she wanted was some peace.

Chapter Text

"Get your hands off of him!" (Y/N) shouted as she shoved Katsuki off of Midoriya for the third time that day.

"Stop getting in the damn way, (Y/N)!" Katsuki shouted as he got up from the floor.

Glaring, (Y/N) said, "Well if you weren't such an asshat I wouldn't have to get in your way!"

"Just step aside and let me teach this worthless Deku a lesson! Does he think he can make it into UA without a quirk? He needs to learn his place!" Katsuki shouted.

Rolling her eyes, (Y/N) couldn't help but feel her hatred for him grow. "Again with this crap? He can at least try! Let him try and reach his dream. No harm comes from it. Can't you just leave him alone for once?"

"Try? Do you think this is some sort of game? Well, news flash, it's not. He needs to learn that his dream is impossible," Bakugo said as he watched her help Midoriya off the floor. He felt his anger boil up as she ignored him and asked Midoriya if he was alright.

"I'm okay. Thanks, (N/N)," Midoriya muttered, a blush on his cheeks as she tended gingelry to his small injuries.

"I'll pay for a new uniform. Looks like this idiot behind me charred right through your current one," (Y/N) sighed before turning toward Katsuki. "Stop bothering him before I get you expelled for bullying. This school has a no bullying policy so don't think I won't go straight to the principal with this."

"Don't you dare put a stain on my perfect record. Or else," Katsuki growled.

(Y/N) scoffed, "Or else what? You'll go crying to Mom and Dad to try and get me in trouble for doing the right thing? Shut up for once and leave us alone!"

"We both know I'm the favorite. That old hag will take my word over yours any day," Katsuki smirked.

Once again, (Y/N) rolled her eyes. "No, you're only mom's favorite, and that's because you look just like her. Dad is the only voice of reason in our home and I know for a fact he'll believe me if I put my foot down."

Katsuki shook his head. "Not if both me and the old hag are at his throat."

"Jesus, stop calling her an old hag. She's our mother. Show some respect for once." Now it was Katsuki's turn to roll his eyes.

"Like I give a damn."

Sighing, (Y/N) simply turned back to Midoriya. "Let's go, Izuku. Don't let this knucklehead bother you anymore. If he does anything else let me know and I will not hesitate to knock him out."

Katsuki growled, "As if you could ever knock me out. My quirk is so much superior to yours. You can barely use yours."

"You've rarely ever seen me use it, and never at its full potential. I think you'd be surprised at what I can do," (Y/N) said as she picked her bag off the ground and walked off with Midoriya.

“Hey! I wasn't finished with him!"

As Katsuki tried to grab Midoriya's shoulder once again, (Y/N) used all her force to whack her brother in the face with her heavy backpack. "What the hell?!" Katsuki shouted. "Oh, I'm so telling the old hag! She'll beat your ass!"

Chocking on her own spit, (Y/N) stiffened. She tried to act brave but both males could tell that she shivered at the mention of her mother. Even so, she gave off a firm stance.

"What? Can't you beat my ass instead of running to Mom? Unless you're too chicken to do it yourself because you know Mom will beat your ass for hurting me," (Y/N) said as she continued to walk off.

As the two friends walked off, they could hear Katsuki shouting obscenities at them.

"(Y/N), did you have to hit Kacchan like that?" Midoriya asked.

(Y/N) nodded her head. "Yes, he deserved it."

"I don't need you getting in trouble with your mom again. The last time you got in trouble for fighting him, we couldn't hang out for a whole month. I couldn't even make sure you were okay because she took all your devices away!" Midoriya said.

(Y/N) would've gone out sooner if it weren't for the bruises in obvious places. Luckily for (Y/N), it had been during summer break so she didn't have to go to school.

"Damn witch even took my old DS," (Y/N) grumbled but shook her head. "It doesn't matter. It's not like I'm not the scapegoat of the family. Even if I hadn't defended you, Katsuki would still find a way to get me in trouble. Not like my Dad can stand up to her enough to stop either of them from causing chaos. The man has no backbone."

Midoriya shook his head. "I know, but it worries me that your mom is so... strict with you. I don't need you getting hurt again."

(Y/N) breathed out a sigh and said, "I'll be okay, Izuku, as long as you are. I promise I'll go straight to your house if anything happens. Okay?"

While Midoriya wasn't sure she even believed her own words, all he could do was hope she would keep her promise.

"How about we head to yours for a quick bite before we go looking for heroes fighting crime?" (Y/N) said, changing the subject and lightening the mood.

"Yeah, okay. My mom will probably have dinner ready soon. I'm sure she won't mind having you over again," Midoriya said as he pulled out his phone. "Let me let her know."

As Midoriya typed away, he heard (Y/N)'s phone ringing. They both froze, knowing exactly who it was. Hesitating, (Y/N) pulled it out of her pocket and saw her mother's name on the caller ID. She knew she had to answer if she didn't want there to be consequences.

"Hey, Mom. Everything ok?" Midoriya could hear the woman berating his friend through the phone. "Yes, ma'am. I'll be right there. I won't be long." With that, Mitsuki hung up the phone with a quick threat, not caring enough to say goodbye.

"Sorry, Izu. I guess Katsuki went straight to Mom for what happened. I have to go. Maybe next time," (Y/N) said with a smile, even if she knew what was to come. Midoriya looked at her sadly and nodded, unsure of how to help.

Midoriya felt so useless as he watched his friend walk away hurriedly. While (Y/N) never outright said she would get hurt, Midoriya could tell. She always tried to hide her bruises but he could always see a few peaking out from under her uniform. He resented himself for not protecting her but he felt he could do nothing.

Without a quirk and without the teachers taking him seriously, he couldn't do much. He couldn't wait for the day he got to give her parents a piece of his mind. In the meantime, Midoriya could only support her when she needed him.

Meanwhile, (Y/N) had finally made it home, practically sprinting the entire way there to not piss her mother off even more if she took longer than 10 minutes. As she entered her home, her anxiety grew, not wanting to call out to her mother but knowing she had to. "Mom, I'm home. You wanted to speak with me?" She said shakily.

"I'm in the kitchen, dear," Her mother called out from across her home. (Y/N) didn't want to move, realizing that she was in real danger.

Not only was her mother in the kitchen where all the knives were, but her mother had called her dear. A pet name that was only ever used when her mother was seriously angry. Forcing her body to move, she entered the kitchen to see her mother holding something in her hands.

"(Y/N), how many times have I told you? You mustn't cause any trouble to your brother. Much less cause any physical harm to him. Why did I hear from Katsuki that you hit him today?" Mitsuki said, eerily calm.

"Well, I didn't necessarily hit him. I swung my backpack over my shoulder and he was in the way. It was a complete accident," (Y/N) said.

Mitsuki simply stared at her, "Are you lying to me, (Y/N)? We both know I hate liars."

"Mother, I would never lie to you. I was just clearing things-," (Y/N) tried to say but was shut up when Mitsuki held her hand up.

"I don't want excuses, (Y/N). Now, come here, and give me your arm."

(Y/N) did as told, giving the woman she called her mother her arm. "Start counting," Mitsuki glared.

Nodding with a gulp, (Y/N) began to count every mark her mother cut into her skin, the blood beading up on her skin. (Y/N) had gone numb by the time they reached 15, her mother finally stopping when she realized blood was on the floor.

"Look at what you've done. My kitchen is a mess because of you," Mitsuki grumbled. Turning, she put the knife down. "Now, what do we say when someone questions you about these?"

"That I did this to myself... because I deserve it," (Y/N) said, her voice monotone.

Mituski smiled, "Good girl. Now, clean up this mess and head to your room." (Y/N) cleaned up and headed up the stairs.

Once she was in her room, she dressed her wounds and lay in bed, tears running down her face. She didn't move until she felt her phone buzz. Unlocking it, she immediately saw a message from Izuku, asking if she was alright. Not wanting to worry him, she texted him back with her usual chipper response and a few emojis.

By the morning, she had soaked through her bandages. Not wanting to cause any commotion, she changed her bandages and wore her long shirt to school. Fortunately for her, it was dark enough to hide any stains if she bled through her bandages again. Taking in a deep breath, she made her way to UA.

It was entrance exam day, and she dreamed of becoming a hero. (Y/N) knew if she got in it would only piss off her brother, which in turn would piss off her mother. Yet, she didn't care. (Y/N) wanted to prove to herself that she could make her dreams come true if she tried hard enough. That she could be the hero she wished she had in her life.

As the day dragged on, (Y/N) felt confident in the results of her written exam. She was always an exemplary student and would be at the top of her class if it weren't for her brother beating her at the only thing she thought she would be good at.

After the practical side of the exam, (Y/N) met up with Izuku, who was so tired from healing his injuries that he could barely think straight. It was safe to say, he hadn't noticed the slight red stains in (Y/N)'s uniform.

Katsuki, who had seen (Y/N) at the entrance exam, was upset that he wasn't aware that his sister was going to try to get in. He doubted she would get in, not with her useless quirk, so he didn't bother to inform his mother. That is until she received her acceptance letter in the mail.

Katsuki had gotten to it first, opening it up without her consent and watching the acceptance video. He was pissed she had gotten second place, right under him by a few points. How the hell did this loser almost beat him?

Katsuki ran off to show his mother, who had been drinking her evening tea. She took one last sip of her tea before calling out to her daughter. Upon hearing her name, (Y/N) came down the stairs and once she saw the video playing, knew she was in deep trouble. Shaking, she approached. "You called, Mom?"

"Care to explain this?" Mitsuki asked, replaying the video. (Y/N) didn't expect to be accepted into such a prestigious school, much less have her family find out about it. Even if she hadn't expected this outcome, (Y/N) had prepared a response.

"I was planning on surprising you, Mom. I know I should've told you sooner, but I thought I could become a hero so I could pamper you with the money I earned. You only deserve the best of the best, and I thought that being a hero and earning enough to support you would make you happy," (Y/N) explained.

Mitsuki eyed her, trying to find any sign that she could be lying. Nodding, Mitsuki smiled. "Very well. I do suppose you're telling the truth. After all, I love the idea of not having to work in the future."

"Damn it, old hag! You can't let her go," Katsuki would've continued, but their mother had shot him a glare.

"Now, now, Katsuki. Give her a chance. Even if she does become a hero, I doubt she'll be a good one. Let her entertain this. She'll deal with the consequences when she realizes being a hero is not the right fit for her," Mitsuki smirked before turning to her daughter. "(Y/N), go finish your chores. I have guests coming over later."

Nodding, (Y/N) rushed off to do said chores, finishing them quickly before she was banished into her room. There, she listened to her mother's friends talk and laugh from a distance. It wasn't anything new, but she wished she could go down there and enjoy herself with them.

Katsuki could bring over any friends whenever he wanted to play video games, but she couldn't even have anyone over to help her study. (Y/N) knew it was unfair, but she couldn't do anything about it. Not until she was old enough to move out.

Until then, she could only pray and wait for the day she could escape this hellhole.
