Clemont was tinkering with one of his inventions, muttering about “perfect calibration,” while Bonnie bounced around, excitedly showing off her drawing of the pokémons.
Ash, of course, was leaning against a tree, Pikachu on his shoulder, trying—and failing—to impress Serena with his “ultimate Poké Ball throwing technique.”
Serena watched him carefully. “Ash… maybe aim away from the cafeteria this time?”
“I can do it!” he insisted, squaring his shoulders. He tossed the Poké Ball… straight into Clemont’s latest gadget, which immediately sparked and made a sad wheezing noise.
“Ash!” Clemont shouted, running to save his invention. However, he was too late, and the group was left with an afro.
Serena broke the silence, shook her head, and started laughing. “You’re impossible.”
Ash grinned sheepishly, scratching the back of his head. “Not me, right? I didn't purposefully blow it up.”
Bonnie rolled her eyes, but her smile quirked into a smirk. “Both of you are impossible!”
Pikachu squeaked in agreement, Clemont groaned in despair, Serena chuckled lightly and Dedenne clapped happily. Somehow, in the middle of chaos, the XY gang was exactly as they should be—messy, loud, and ridiculously fun.
