Alola adventure!

Summary:

After getting away from Katsuki’s bullying, Izuku starts new in Alola…where Kahuna Aizawa was being bugged by his colleague into sending more people on the island trial.

Now with Ochako, a girl originally from another region like him, but adapted by now, and a weird but energetic girl called Mina, he travels the region to go through an Alolan adventure with totem Pokémon, Kahunas, a conspiracy surrounding Nebby, and maybe some romance.

Chapter Text

The flight from Jotho to Alola was a long one. But despite the long time spent in the plane, Izuku was looking forward to it. A new place with new Pokémon and people.

A new start away from Katsuki.

“It sure is hot here.” Unfortunately for the Midoriya’s, they weren’t used to Alola’s tropical climate, having been living in the much colder Johto. Even Izuku’s Mareep was struggling, her fluffy wool drooping as if it were trapping the heat inside. She let out a weak bleat and leaned against Izuku’s leg for comfort, tiny sparks flickering across her fleece. So while a very nice girl next door helped them put the green family’s stuff in their new house, Izuku and Inko were struggling like they were getting hit by Heat wave.

“You guys must be the new neighbors. I’m Ochako.” A nice girl, a brunette with rosy cheeks, said as she helped Izuku up. “You’ll get sunburned, so let’s get you potato sacks, and this little puffball, inside.” She giggled, pulling Izuku with her while he looked around.

“…Pikipek, the Woodpecker Pokémon. A Normal/Flying type. They have strong muscles in their necks, so it won’t hurt itself even if they violently shake their heads.” He pointed at a Pikipek that flew by. “…Yungoos, the Loitering Pokémon. A Normal type. With its sharp teeth, it will bite anything. It did not originally live in Alola but was imported from another region to hunt Rattata.” Then a Yungoos ran by. “….Grubbin, the Larva Pokémon. A Bug type. If you find its nest, you shouldn’t put your hand inside. You’ll get bitten.” Lastly, he saw a Grubbin digging to the surface.

“Woah, buddy. You’re just here and already know the Pokémon.” Ochako laughed, causing Izuku to chuckle.

“Yeah…I love Pokémon…most of them.” He explained as he entered the nice cool inside of his new house. And not far behind them was Inko, who was being helped into the house by a green haired woman with an orange bandanna. Behind her was a little girl with white hair, carrying Inko’s Hoothoot inside. And behind them, Mareep literally rolled inside like a Wooloo.

“So you must be the Midoriya’s. I’m Emi Aizawa, and this is Eri.” The woman introduced herself and her daughter.

Eri’s eyes lit up as she reached out with one hand. Mareep blinked, then leaned down so the girl could stroke her wool. “She’s so fluffy…” Eri whispered, smiling as Mareep gave a quiet, happy bleat.

“As the wife of the Kahuna, I’d love to invite you to tonight’s festival,” Emi continued warmly.

“How lovely…please tell me it’s once the sun sets.” Inko sighed with a tired smile, making Eri giggle and Emi nod.

Once the sun went down, Izuku and Inko could leave for the festival, with Ochako showing them the way.

“So Ochako, have you lived here your whole life?” Inko asked their neighbor. “Maybe you can show Izuku around. He tends to get lost while in his own head. Mareep is more like his herder”

“M-Mom!” Izuku yelped, only for Mareep to bleat in agreement. “M-Mareep!”

“Don’t worry, Miss Midoriya, Mareep. I’ll take good care of him.” Ochako laughed, putting her arm around the flustered greenette’s neck. “In Alola, we’ll treat our friends like family.”

“That we sure do!” Emi, who seemingly appeared out of nowhere, cheered as she put her arms around Izuku and Inko. “You two finally made it.”

“We wouldn’t miss it for the world.” Inko laughed as she watched Mareep run towards Eri, who was drinking out of a coconut with a feline Pokémon laying next to her.

“Persian, the Classy cat Pokémon, an Alolan form and Dark type. Contrast to its lovely face, they are so brutal that they torture their weaknened prey instead of finishing them off.” Izuku explained from memory. Though this one seemed less cruel than the rest of their species.

“She sure does that. Forget Gumshoos and Yungoos, Persian is the biggest danger to the Rattata population.” A long haired man suddenly appeared behind the Midoriya’s and Ochako. “Though the Raticate are too much work for her. Still, she knows to behave herself in front of Eri.”

“Shooo, maybe introduce yourself first.” Emi singed, before doing it for him. “This is Shota. Our island’s Kahuna, and my husband and father of my child.”

“What a weird way to introduce me.” Said husband sighed before extending his hand towards Inko. “Still, welcome to our island. I hope you’ll enjoy it…though I need your son for something.”

“Mister Aizawa, aren’t you going a bit too fast?”

“I’ll get to you later, Ochako.” After all but telling her to be quiet, Shota turned his attention back to Izuku. “In other regions, like Jotho, you had the league. But here, we have the island trials. You go around the four islands of Alola, beat trials against totem Pokémon and their trainers called trial captains. Once you beat all of them on an island, which on Melemele is fortunately only one, you’ll take on that island Kahuna, and move one to the next island.”

“…I have one question.” Izuku began…before pointing behind Ochako. “What’s that?” What he was pointing at was a black, purple, blue and yellow gaseous creature, which was dancing with a dark-skinned girl with pink hair.

“N-Nebby No!” Immediately Ochako ran to the little guy, picking her up. “No running off, okay. You might get lost.”

But Nebby didn’t want to be held. She wanted to dance. So the only solution was of course to swing her arms around in Ochako’s face.

“I like this little one.” The pinkette laughed, waving at Nebby as Ochako brought her back to Izuku.

“I guess I have some explaining to do….Maybe later. So for now, thsi is Nebby. She loves dancing, eating sugar, watching sci-fi movies, and causing me stress.” Ochako explained while putting Nebby in her backpack. “So in busy places, Nebby goes into the bag.”

“I know the feeling. I used to put Eri on a leash, as well as Emi.” Kahuna Shota added before reaching into his own bag. “Normally, I wouldn’t do this since you already have a Pokémon in Mareep. But if you’re willing to already fill half your team, I could give you an alolan starter.”

“S-Sure!” Immediately, Izuku got excited. His first Alolan Pokémon..but then he started thinking. “Wait a moment, you can only carry four Pokémon?”

“You can carry more in Jotho? And don’t bring up that paint-licking idiot Lance. We all know he just revived that Dragonite of his when people aren’t looking.” Eraserhead ranted before Emi told him to take a breath. “Thank you, Emi. Anyhow, here are our region’s starters. I personally requested them from Toshinori. So a little thanks for not having to go to the other side of the region.”

He threw up three pokeball, from which three Pokémon came.

“Rowlet, the Grass Quill Pokémon. A Grass/Flying type. It feels relaxed in tight, dark places and has been known to nestle into its trainer’s bag or the front of their jacket.” Rowlet spun his head, turned around, and then winked at Izuku with his body turned around. “Litten, the Fire Cat Pokémon. A Fire type. While grooming itself, it builds up fur inside its stomach. It sets the fur alight and spews fiery attacks, which change based on how it coughs.” Litten was licking herself..inappropriately. “Popplio, the Sea Lion Pokémon. A Water type. They get on top of their bouncy water balloons to jump higher. It’s quite the acrobatic fighter!” Immediately Popplio blew a big bubble with his nose before pushing it to Ochako.

“…I’m taking that one..can I, mister Aizawa?” Ochako asked, already having Popplio in her arms. As for the water type, he looked content.

“Sure, have fun with him.” Shota shrugged before turning back to Izuku, whose gaze settled on Rowlet, something about its calm, watchful demeanor tugging at him. “I… choose Rowlet.”

“Excellent choices.” If he was honest, Shota hoped for this outcome. Because this meant he could keep Litten…only for him to immediately see Eri extending her hand towards Litten, who padded forward, brushing against her legs. Eri giggled, dropping to her knees to pet its fur. “So soft…” The Fire Cat purred, curling protectively beside her.

He supposed Eri was old enough for her own Pokémon.

After some partying, it was time to eat from the barbecue that was set up. And to his surprise, Rowlet was in fact a carnivore, as it scarved down an entire hamburger patty with Mareep calmly munching on some weeds and branches Eri had collected for her.

But then Ochako sat down next to him, with Popplio and Nebby not far behind. “Hey Izuku, wanna see something?” She asked before revealing another pokeball. She opened it, bringing out a Meditite. She levitated in the air while meditating, before grabbing a meatball from Izuku’s plate with Psychic.

“…I thought there weren’t any Meditite in Alola.” The greenette mumbled as seeing Meditite steal a meatball, Rowlet did the same.

“True, but I’m from Hoenn originally.” The brunette told him with a smirk. “I was a newcomer once and found my place, and so will you.”

That was the nicest thing someone had ever said to Izuku. That he, one day, would fit in.

Fit in, in Alola.

Notes:

This chapter is a pilot essentially. I already have a Pokémon X mha story, but even as a second attempt, it doesn’t fully click…ironically because it went in the complete opposite direction as the first one. So I’m seeing if this one is more liked.

So..four Pokémon max. Partly because gen seven is the smallest Dex, and with a couple exceptions, I want to use Alolan Pokémon. But also…So remember the black and white anime, where Ash had ten Pokémon and only half of them had a personality, with half of those being actually good in battle? We got three characters (Izuku, Ochako and Mina), plus ten Pokémon. Thirteen characters to follow is a lot…but again, gen seven has a small Dex. I could give Izuku six, but they would barely fit, and we would still have an entire region of trainers to give Pokémon too. A couple of them do have other gen Pokémon (from the top of my head, there are 14 characters who have at least one non-gen 7 mon), but I don’t want this to be like Jotho, where not even the trainers use gen 2 Pokémon half the time.

Also if you like this, PLEASE PLEASE let me know. Comment, kudos, whatever, I just want to know if this is liked or how it can be improved.

Chapter 2: I forgot

Summary:

Not an actual chapter, but something I forgot in the pilot

Chapter Text

Last chapter was a pilot…and I forgot to put a poll or something at the end to see if anyone actually wanted this.

So…a poll with some options since I wasn’t fully sure on Izuku’s first Pokémon.

  • I don’t like this story
  • I do, and Izuku is still a Johto native with Mareep.
  • I do, but Izuku is originally from Kanto with an Abra
  • I do, but Izuku is originally from Sinnoh with a Buneary
  • The Sinnoh one, but Izuku is a girl and we have lesbian Izuocha.

If I’m turning this into an actual story, I’ll probably start by expanding the pilot chapter into a more proper one. Then and up the maximum Pokémon from four to five, even if only two or three characters reach that.

Personally I’m leaning towards either Abra or Buneary. Mareep is fun, but I’m realizing that I have a fun personality for them in mind, which wouldn’t work with Flaafy or Ampharos. Still, I love Ampharos.

Answer here please. It helps me get the proper chapter out faster.
