Chapter Text
Stan Pines did not aways make the best decisions. Most of the time he relied on gut instinct and his will to survive alone. That led him to him ending up in some… avoidable situations. Now was a good example of this, as his car (which has been making suspicious noises since before he got to Oregon) broke down in the middle of the woods several miles from town in the middle of winter.
“No no no, come on! Not now.” Even with his pleas and multiple attempts to get his car to start she didn’t. No, instead she stayed stuck in the middle of the dirt road.
With a final curse to the universe and any other beings that got him here (so himself mainly) Stan gave up. He let his head fall forward onto the steering wheel with a thunk
(Ignoring the way it made his headache worse.)
“ok Stan, this is fine. Just got to keep moving, like you aways do.”
“How am I supposed to do that without my car?” His mind unhelpfully supplied. With a groan he fell back into his chair. He should have taken his car to the nearest mechanic once he got to town. Too bad for him, he’s out of money. (and strangely more forgetful than usual.)
Doesn’t help that despite the town being much quieter and smaller than most cities, it’s still too loud for his sensitive hearing. Normally he could handle it, but the full moon was fast approaching, so it was only going to get worse.
With a final huff, Stan opened his car door and stepped out, being mindful not to slam it once he was out. Just because he was mad didn’t mean he could take it out on the thing that had housed him since he was eighteen.
“I could make the most of this.” he thought. “Go explore the wood, see what the local wildlife is like I guess.” He’d, after all, have to be hunting since he’s broke. Stan didn’t particularly want to go hiking (lately, he had found that walking even short distances, had left his legs shaking) but it was the only thing better than standing around.
With his mind made up, Stan turned to his prized El Diablo, he patted her hood in what was probably a comforting manner.
“Don’t worry old girl, I’ll be back in no time then hopefully I can figure out what to do about our situation.” He gave her one final pat then walked into the woods.
Walking through the woods, Stan was disappointed to say that most of the animals in gravity Falls were weird as heck. Already he had seen a platypus that had a pattern on its coat similar to the one found on a lumberjack jacket. ( ford would probably call it a plaidypus or something)
Stan was unsure of his willingness to eat any of the odd creatures he found. Just because he knew from experience that his wolf form could digest raw meat did not mean he wanted to. especially if it was an owl with a cow face. A Cowl?
On the plus side however, he did find some cool crystals and a nice cave too. Stan was eyeing one particular clump of crystals when a plaidpus ran through a pink beam one of the crystals was making. Instantly the creature shrunk to half its size.
“What th-?” Stan rubbed his eyes. This has to be a hallucination or something like that he thought. In the back of his head, a tiny voice wondered if it could be from withdrawal.
Then just to prove him wrong a bird flew through a blue bean and grew instantly. Stan was left, staring at a thing until an idea formed in his mind.
Taking one of the crystals stan, rushed back to his car in wolf form(thankfully he didn’t get lost trying to find it) once there he turned back into a human and got a flashlight from his car. Without any precision he taped the Crystal to it. It didn’t look the best, but Ford was always the inventor not Stan.
Adjusting the flashlight to where it shown pink. Stan shrunk his car so he could pick it up in his hand and walked all the way back to the cave where he turned it back to normal. looking around at the said cave, which was big enough to hold his car and keep him protected from the elements Stan thought he just make this work.
