Chapter Text
Daniela and Megan have been the best of friends since Dream Academy, and their bond definitely grew when a radioactive spider (one that Sophia supposedly killed) bit the two of them in the KATSEYE house.
But that was months ago. All the girls had since moved out and rented apartments in pairs: Sophia with Yoonchae, Manon with Lara, and finally, Daniela with Megan.
The two figured it would be easier to live together, especially with their… condition.
Not that Manon and Lara ever complained or asked.
“But I want to be known as Spider-Mei!”
“We're a global girl group. Isn't that too obvious? Eyekons literally know your nickname is Mei.”
Daniela looked up and asked, she arched a brow at the girl in red spandex who was quite literally hanging upside down from the ceiling.
Megan rolled her eyes and jumped down, fiddling with her mask in hand. “Yeah but anyone can be named Mei.”
“Girl, we live in the States. Ain't no way that's a common name.”
“Stil!"
Daniela rolled her eyes and sat up from her position, sitting on the edge of her bed. “People know we live in Downtown LA, and a hero in the same area with the same name as you is—”
“Fine, point taken.” Megan groaned, puffing her cheeks. "Being known as The Spider-Women or just Spider-Woman is sooo basic.”
The Latina shook her head and stood, patting the younger girl’s shoulder affectionately before heading to her closet.
“That’s true. I want something unique too.”
Daniela mumbled as she pulled on her black spandex suit, marked by a red stripe and a spray-painted spider logo. She held her mask in one hand, thoughtful.
“Do you think we'll ever get real supervillains—like, from the comics?”
"I hope not. We barely managed to take down Fisk, and he’s just a normal—well, not really, he’s kind of a brute—but still, a powerless thug!” Megan exclaimed, hands flailing.
“Thank the skies for your venom powers, though. I want special powers too!”
Daniela chuckled, sticking her tongue out at her. “Sucks to be you, then.”
Megan sighed and peeled off her own suit, tossing it aside somewhere before crashing on her bed. “Oh well. Safe swinging, Dani,” she called softly, watching the older girl slip her mask on and flash a thumbs-up, just before casually leaping out the apartment window.
It was always like this. Taking turns fighting crime around the neighborhood. Megan handled the days while Daniela took the nights, doing the most they could around their packed schedules.
Sometimes, on rare days off, they even tag-teamed and saved citizens together.
No one in KATSEYE knew—none of them. The two feared they’d get a hefty lecture from Sophia about how dangerous it was and how it could derail their careers. They both loved being Spider-Women, but they also loved being idols. And sometimes, one outweighed the other—for the safety of the people.
Just as Megan was about to get some shut eye, her phone rang. She groaned, fumbling for it before answering in a deadpan tone:
"What?"
“Ah, sorry—were you about to sleep?”
Megan immediately scrambled awake at the sound of Yoonchae's voice.
“Yoonchip! No, no, no... I just finished doing something. What's up?” Her tone flipped instantly, bubbly and bright.
“Is Dani with you?”
"She left to... party with her friends! Yeah,” Megan chuckled nervously. “Why?”
“Sophia unnie needs her, but she isn't answering. She went out right now to go meet with Dani at their usual spot.”
Megan bit her lip thoughtfully, “I see, I'll let her know myself in case she responds to me. Need anything else, 'Chae?”
“Can you... can you come over?”
“Wait, what? Why?” The spider girl immediately widened her eyes, her cheeks flushed.
“Sophia isn’t here, and I wanted to watch that movie you recommended—the one with Devon Aoki.” Yoonchae's shynes was evident through the call, “Figured it’d be nice to watch it with you… but only if you want to!”
Megan let out a chuckle, shaking her head in amusement. She turned her gaze towards the red spandex on the floor with a small smirk.
“Alright, I'll be there in a bit.”

The streets of downtown L.A. had never been more lively. With people from all around the world stuck in traffic, the city buzzed in the aftermath of KATSEYE’s last show before their week-long break—a perfect window for Megan and Daniela to play friendly neighborhood vigilantes.
The Swiss girl swung eagerly through the city’s nightlife, headed toward a certain someone’s apartment (even if it was only a ten-minute drive away). Fortunately enough, she managed to save one citizen from being mugged by a bunch of thugs in an alleyway along the way... but not without getting a tad injured by a criminal who caught her off guard.
'Useless spider senses...' She grumbled through her mask as she swung through the streets, her abdomen aching from a punch. Both Megan and Daniela's spider senses have been frustratingly off due to their gruelling schedules and shows. Still, they hoped the break would give them the chance to recover.
Soon enough, Megan arrived Sophia and Yoonchae's apartment building. She hurriedly, though discreetly, changed out of her red and blue spider suit, and into a simple oversized jersey and baggy jorts.
The spider girl webbed her backpack—stuffed with all her Spider-Woman essentials—carelessly onto a rooftop water tank before swiftly climbing down the fire escape. By the time she reached the sixth floor, she was right outside Yoonchae and Sophia’s shared room.
Yoonchae’s senses prickled as if someone was watching her. She turned—only to find Megan Skiendiel grinning mischievously and waving through the window.
“Megan! What are you doing here?!” the younger exclaimed in utter confusion as she hurried to open the window, letting the girl climb inside.
“You told me to come over.”
“I expected a knock at my door, not on the fire escape window.”
Megan flashed a sly grin. “Well, I’m here now, aren’t I?” She plopped onto the edge of the bed, legs swinging back and forth. Yoonchae rolled her eyes and plopped down next to her.
"You're weird.”
“I think you mean gnarly.”
Silence.
Yoonchae gave her a flat, deadpan stare.
Megan's smirk faltered, her hands flew up in mock defense. “Damn, tough crowd.”
“I think I'm going to kick you out.”
“No you won't, you love me too much!”
Before Yoonchae could respond, the spider girl tackled her into a tight hug. The younger tried squirming free, even swatting at her arms and chest.
“Pabo—let go of me!” She demanded, her tone free of malice as she struggled to hold back laughter.
“How are you so strong?!”
Megan only shrugged smugly, still wrapped around her. “What can I say? I’m just amazing like that.”
They continued to bicker for hours, eventually forgetting the movie they were supposed to watch. Though, the mood shifted when Yoonchae accidentally swatted the side of Megan's stomach a bit too hard.
“Ow!" She winced.
Yoonchae's demeanour immediately shifted from playful to serious concern, turning dead silent.
Then Megan bursted out laughing.
“You—you thought I was serious!” The older cackled, clutching her stomach. In truth, the hit had stung a little—but chose to cover it up.
The Korean shot daggers at the laughing teen, though she couldn't help but let out a small snicker herself.
“You're annoying.” She swatted her again
“You love it.”
“Maybe I do.”
