Work Text:
A little while ago, Zack had gotten up at the moment the sun's rays illuminated his face. Right now, the individual yawning and still sleepy was heading towards the kitchen while scratching his abdomen over the bandages; with eyes half-closed from sleep, he opened the cupboard and took a cereal box, leaving it on the counter.
He took a bowl and a spoon. Having them, he opened the box and poured the cereal into the bowl.
"Uh?" he articulated when he saw that the cereal had strange shapes.
Then after a few seconds, realize that those "strange" cereals were letters, the same ones he was learning with Ray, in his eagerness to learn to read and write.
Having an idea (Yes, he was thinking)
He pushed the box slightly, so that the cereal was scattered on the counter. In a matter of seconds, Zack found himself in the difficult task of finding letters to form those words.
After a while he was able to form the easiest "Ray" with the cereal. Being the next the most difficult, in that, his memory brings him a memory.
...
"How do you write those words that are of love"
"Uhh"
Ray looked at him strangely.
"And well?"
"Like the word: I love you?"
"Exactly"
"Why?"
"To not write those cheesy things! Agh! just thinking about it makes me want to vomit"
Ray didn't understand his logic, but nevertheless, she wrote "I love you" on the sheet they were writing. Zack felt happy, he smiled when he saw that word written by the girl on the paper, but he hid it when Ray looked at him.
...
"Ray, I love you"
He finished writing, feeling embarrassed instantly. Immediately, he turned around and opened the fridge, looking for the soda to pour into his cereal-filled bowl and finally eat his breakfast.
There wasn't any! Damn it!
After a while, standing without knowing what to do, he realized that last night he had left a half-finished soda can near the living room sofa.
That would do, he thought. Until Ray buys more.
"Where the hell is it?" he asked after checking the surroundings, all he saw were empty cans, maybe he had finished it off! Damn it! It was a mess! Puff, he had to clean up.
He picked up the various cans from the floor, but when he was heading to the kitchen to throw them in the trash can, he saw Ray coming out of it. He was stunned remembering what he had written on the counter, the cans fell, making a loud sound on the floor.
Ray looked at him and Zack averted his gaze, going to the kitchen to erase the evidence, being stunned when he confirmed that not only had she read it, she had also replied to him. His cheeks blushed furiously when he read: "I love you too, Zack"
