A year and 57 days.
A year and 57 days since Eddie’s husband, Evan “Buck” Diaz has left for deployment in Afghanistan. And it's been a year since Eddie joined the 118.
Christopher has missed his other dad so much, Buck and Christopher loved spending time together. They loved to bake together, they loved to make craft together and so much more.

Eddie has been off today at work. He has been zoning out, not eating, shaking his leg constantly, and much more. Eddie is thinking if something has happened to Buck, he was meant to call Eddie last night. But Eddie never got a call, and Christopher being a 9 year old missing his other dad made him cry.
Eddie got Christopher to calm down about 30 minutes after he started crying, he helped Christopher get ready for bed then put him to bed.
Eddie had been acting off ever since then. He doesn't realize his team is calling out to him as he sits at the dining table with them as they all have a coffee in their hands.
“Eddie! What’s going on man?” Chim said, making Eddie snap out of his thoughts.
“Nothing..” Eddie said, as he has a worried tone in his voice.
His team looked at him, obviously knowing Eddie is lying currently. Eddie notices straight away, Eddie just sighs. He didn't want to tell the team he has a husband that's currently deployed.
“Fine. Just please don't freak out..” Eddie says as he sits up straight in his seat.
“Dont worry Eddie we won't, just tell us what's on your mind.” Bobby says after taking a sip of his coffee
Eddie takes a sip of his coffee before talking.
“Well, first. I’m gay.. Second, I have a husband. And third, he is currently deployed, it's been a year and 57 days since he left. He was meant to be calling last night, but he didn't and Chris is really worried and so am I. I don't want someone coming to my front door saying my husband is dead.” Eddie blurts out, tears in his eyes as he says the last part.
His team doesn't say anything, they all just get up from their seats and hug Eddie as Eddie softly cries.
“How about you show us a picture of all of you guys?” Hen suggests.
Eddie gets his phone out and finds a photo and shows his team a photo with Buck, Christopher and Eddie in it and whipped cream on all of their faces. The picture was taken around christmas time, they were in the living room with the christmas tree in the background. They were all laughing when the photo got taken, Christopher got a handful of whipped cream and put all over Buck’s face so Buck did the same thing to Christopher. Buck and Christopher were whispering and then all the sudden Eddie gets a handful of whipped cream in his face too.
Eddie told them to huddle together and Eddie took a picture. It has been his wallpaper ever since.

Two weeks ago:
Nick “Nicky” Thomson is Buck’s best friend in his team. They are always there for each other if they get hurt, hell they are there for each other no matter what.
Nick has met Eddie before, years ago. Nick has always liked Eddie, Nick knows he is a great husband to Buck. At Eddie and Buck’s wedding, Nick made a speech that made Eddie laugh while Buck cried.
The whole team is currently in their tent, just sitting on their beds getting ready, definitely not knowing what is going to happen in two hours.
“Yo, Buck. How’s Eddie and Chris? You called them last night, right?” Nick says as he ties up his shoes.
“There good, thanks Nicky. Yeah, I did call them last night. I’ll probably call them in about a week or two.” Buck says, answering Nick.
Nick nods at Buck and then grabs his MK 12 Mod 1. And Buck did the same.

Buck sees whiteness everywhere, he hears screaming and Buck is about to get up but screams in pain as he tries to get up.
He sees someone running to him, he instantly knows it's Nick because of his messy brown hair. Nick drops down to Buck and puts his body over Buck’s as another bomb gets dropped.
Once the smoke clears Nick gets up and screams for a medic. One comes running over and puts gauzes all over his arm, what the fuck has happend?
“N-nicky..” Buck says quietly and out of breath and somehow Nick still hears him.
“Yeah, what's up Buck?” Nick says as he plays with Buck’s hair knowing he likes that when he is hurt.
“C-can you tell.. Eddie and Christopher that I love them lots..-” Buck starts saying but coughs before he can finish saying his sentence.
“No, Buck. You're going to tell them yourself when you walk into your house.” Nick says before Buck can say anything.
Buck is still lying on the dirt as the medic it working on him, he has to keep putting new gauzes on, Buck has no fucking clue has want happend to him but his arm fucking hurts a lot.
“Nicky.. m’ tired” Buck says as his eyes slowly close.
“No! No! Buck, keep your eyes open bud!” Nick says nearly yelling and crying.
Buck tries to keep his eyes open, but he can't. His eyes slowly close and then everything goes black.

Buck’s eyes slowly open, the lights are bright and his arm still fucking hurts like a bitch. He tries to sit up but grunts as he sinks into the pillow and realizes there is a sling on his right arm. Buck then feels a hand on his shoulder, he looks to the side where Nick sits.
“Hey bud, how are you feeling?” Nick asks as he gives Buck some water, and Buck nearly drinks the whole thing in seconds.
“A-alright.. What happened Nicky?” Buck asks as he slowly sits up.
“We got ambushed.. Everyone is ok, Jones got a gun shot in his leg but is good. Lills got a broken arm and a few deep cuts in his legs.” Nick says everyone else's injuries.
“What about me Nicky.. What are my injuries?” Buck asks, staring at Nick.
“You got it the worst.. Four gun shots in your arm, so your arm is going to be in a sling for a month. You died for about 4 minutes Evan..” Nicky says.
Buck is so confused, how did he nearly die from gunshots in your arm?
“One nearly hit your lung, that's how you nearly..” Nick says with tears in his eyes. Oh.
Buck finds out the whole team got flown to LA for treatment. He also finds out it's been 4 days and he has to stay for another 3 days before getting distarched.
About 4 hours after Buck wakes up everyone comes and says hi to him, they all hang out for about 2 hours before visiting hours are done.

Present day:
The 118 just got back from a big fire in a warehouse, everyone goes and has a shower and gets into clean clothes. The whole team is upstairs all talking while Bobby makes dinner.
Bobby is about to serve dinner but Peterson calls him down since someone was here. Bobby goes downstairs and everyone gets up from their seats and goes to the edge of the loft, they see a man. Mid thirties, blond curly hair, blue eyes.
Eddie blinks once, then twice before he runs downstairs.
He stares at the man as he smirks and then Eddie runs to him and hugs him instantly crying.
“Buck, baby. I thought I lost you..” Eddie says into Buck’s shoulder while crying and Buck uses his free arm to hug Eddie back.
“You're actually here!” Eddie says in a muffled voice.
They keep hugging each other for another minute before moving away from each other, and they are both definitely crying. The whole 118 are watching from the loft and are all smiling as they watch Eddie reunite with his husband.
“O-oh Buck, this is the 118. Bobby, our captain. Hen and Chim, they are the best duo.” Eddie says as he points to them.
“Nice to meet you all, it’s good seeing people taking care of my husband.” Buck says smiling.
Eddie leads Buck up to the loft and Buck shakes all of their hands.
“Buck, how about you have dinner with us?” Bobby asks as Buck shakes his hand.
“That would be lovely, thank you!” Buck says as he takes a seat next to Eddie at the dining table.
They all enjoy dinner together, laughing and all sharing stories with each other.
“Buck, I forgot to ask. What happened to your arm?” Eddie asks as cuts his food.
“Uhh, long story short. We got ambushed, 2 weeks ago. I got shot four times in the arm.. And once near my chest. I nearly passed away but I'm ok now!” Buck says quickly.
Eddie stares at Buck with his eyes widened and jaw dropped, definitely not the story he thought he would be hearing.

Bobby gave Eddie the rest of the day off, so he could spend it with Buck. As Eddie was putting his clothes into the duffle bag, Eddie and Buck decided how to surprise Christopher, very simple.
Eddie will walk into the house and say hi to Christopher then say he has a surprise, then Buck comes out to Christopher.
They just got out of Eddie’s car and they silently walk up to the front door, Eddie carefully opens the door and both Eddie and Buck silently walk to Christopher’s room. Buck has a look at the house, nothing has changed.
Eddie knocks on Christopher’s door and slowly opens it.
“Hey buddy, how are you?”
“I’m good dad! How was work?” Christopher asks.
His son’s voice nearly has Buck crying, but he can’t. He has to hold it in.
“It was good buddy, I have a surprise for you!” Eddie says.
Eddie slowly moves to the side and Christopher looks, his other dad is there. Buck smiles as Christopher quickly gets up from his bed and crashes into Buck.
“Papa!” Christopher yells out crying as he hugs Buck tightly. They are both definitely crying, happy tears, and Eddie is also crying as he watches his two favourite boys reunite.

Eddie got back from getting dinner, from a pizza place. The three of them sit on the couch with pizza in their laps while watching sponge-bob, which is Christopher’s favourite show.
They have a great dinner, and both Eddie and Christopher are so happy to have their favourite person back after a year.
Eddie can’t stop smiling the whole time they are eating and watching tv, all of them laughing while telling their story’s, and about everything that has happened during the time Buck was gone.
“Also, I have a little surprise!" Buck says.
“What is it papa?” Christopher asks as he turns to Buck.
Buck gets up and goes to his and Eddie’s bedroom, he then comes back with a white letter and gives it to Christopher.
Christopher slowly opens the letter and as he finishes reading it, he crashes into Buck.
“You're never going back to war again!?” Christopher asks, making sure he read the letter right.
“Never. I’m staying here, with you two.” Buck says smiling.
Eddie instantly hugs Buck and kisses him on the cheek.
His husband is staying in LA, and is never going to war again. After a few tears, and kisses they sit back down and keep watching sponge-bob.
This is all Eddie needs, his husband and their kid. His boys.
