Tobirama can never keep his eyes off of Izuna, not just because they are rivals but because he takes up every spare moment of his thoughts. He fantasized about mounting Izuna and rutting the other alpha into submission. More than that, he even fantasizes about the opposite - something that should never be considered.
No alpha should ever want to be mounted by another alpha. It’s a hidden desire of his, away from light and judgment of others if they knew about it.
He can’t explain it, but the feeling he has when he fights Izuna is something else. It feels like his body is calling to Izuna’s. And it’s obvious that it's the same for Izuna. The other alpha can never keep his eyes off him either.
They are like magnetics, always pulling at each other.
The way Izuna’s eyes travel up and down his body tells him everything. The way they sniff at each other when they are close enough says more than enough.
He feels certain that if they had the opportunity they would drop their swords and fuck. But in the middle of a battle it just isn’t possible - and what a treasonous thought. What would the clan think of him if they knew?
Well. It wasn’t like it would happen, there was no way for them to have privacy in a battle, nor to be far from prying eyes.
That is, until today. Today’s special because Tobirama decides it’s time for the first field test of his new jutsu, hiraishin. He has a marker almost an hour from here in the middle of a dense forest, a thick bedroll and oil hidden in a scroll just in case he is wrong and Izuna doesn’t want the same thing. Though he really is sure that he does.
Instead of using this powerful new jutsu, one that even the sharingan can’t track to kill his rival, he gets up close, grabs Izuna’s arm and pulls on that seal he has hidden away.
Izuna drops to the ground in disorientation, he felt the same the first few times he tried it, before looking up at him in judgement. “What did you just do? Where are we?” He snarls, but it lacks any real bite.
“We are about an hour away from the battle. Far enough that we shouldn’t be easily detected, not even by your brother. It’s just us here. No battle. Just us.”
Tobirama watches as understanding slowly creeps into Izuna’s eyes. “Just us?”
“Just us.”
There is only a moment of hesitation before Izuna is dropping his sword and barrelling into him, knocking him straight back onto the ground. Izuna’s face goes straight to Tobirama’s shoulder. As much as he wants this right now, he isn’t about to sit back and let Izuna bite him, to be the one to overpower and mount him. If Izuna wants that right he’s going to have to fight tooth and nail for it.
The tumble and roll around, punching and kicking before Izuna finally overpowers him - this time, he thinks - next time Tobirama won’t go down so easily. Next time he’s going to shove Izuna’s face in the dirt and fuck him hard and dirty.
For now though, he’s happy to let Izuna take him. He’s thought about it enough times that he’s more than willing to make it happen.
“Bedroll,” Tobirama pants while Izuna takes the opportunity to bite, kiss and lick his neck in as many places as he can see.
Izuna lifts his head up and furrows his brows, “we can’t exactly go to an inn right now.”
Tobirama just rolls his eyes, “there’s a scroll right at the base of that tree over there,” he says as he points to a tree a couple yards away from where they stopped fighting.
Izuna hops off him and hurries over to the scroll, Tobirama takes the opportunity to strip off his clothes. Just in case this is his only chance he’s going to make sure that they get to fully experience each other. No clothes blocking access from each other. He wants to feel Izuna everywhere. Wants the feeling of his skin seared into his body.
As Izuna moves back to his side he sees what Tobirama is doing and quickly does the same. They have always been equals, always met each other movement for movement and this is no different.
As soon as Tobirama is undressed, but while Izuna is still working to catch up to him Tobirama unseals the bedroll and oil and starts working himself open.
-.-
Izuna pushes Tobirama onto his back and pushes his legs apart to make room for himself.
“You don’t get to take that away from me,” Izuna snarls as he pulls Tobirama’s hands away from where they are working to stretch himself open. Izuna grabs the oil Tobirama had set to the side and coats his fingers so he can replace Tobirama’s.
Izuna isn’t as slow as he should be, not considering there is almost no way Tobirama has ever done this. Alphas don’t submit for alphas. Except them. They are two sides of the same coin. Meant to be together, to complete each other.
But just because he isn’t slow doesn’t mean he doesn’t do it right. He works one finger, two, three then four. He has to make sure Tobirama is as stretched as he can manage so that he can take his knot. They really shouldn’t. They really should just fuck and keep knots out of it. But he can’t. He has to have Tobirama fully. And he knows without asking that Tobirama wants the same. Why else would he bring them here?
“Roll over,” Izuna demands. They aren’t sweet with each other. That’s not how they are as people and they could never be that as partners.
Tobirama rolls without question, his ass up and down on his elbows giving Izuna full access to the unmarred beauty that is Tobirama’s backside.
Izuna can’t help but activate his sharingan so he can memorize this moment. To his surprise Tobirama doesn’t even flinch, instead he moans. Like the idea that Izuna needs to keep this moment forever turns him on even more.
Izuna grabs each ass cheek and squeezes them before spreading them apart to really get a good look at the hole he’s about to ruin for all others. Not that there will be any others. Izuna will kill anyone who ever thinks of touching what’s his. His rival, his enemy, his lover. Just his.
“I’m going to fuck you so hard you won’t be able to move without thinking about me for weeks,” he groans.
“You think I go long without thinking of you?” Tobirama counters.
“You better not. Never again.” Izuna demands. Fuck he would do anything to take Tobirama home with him, lock him in his room and never let him go. If only this war wasn’t keeping them apart.
Izuna doesn’t waste another moment, he just fucks right into Tobirama’s willing and pliant body. He stretched him enough that this doesn’t cause too much discomfort. It’s the knotting that’s going to be rough on Tobirama.
Tobirama moans and pants just as much as Izuna does as they fuck each other. Tobirama fucking himself back onto Izuna’s cock just as much as Izuna is pumping into him. It’s so good. Too good. Before he knows it his knot is forming.
If Tobirama intends to say anything against it now is the time. Instead Tobirama growls, “make me yours. And then never knot another.”
The words do something primal to him. He’s going to fuck Tobirama so hard, make his mark so deep in him it will never go away.
As soon as his knot forms and they are locked together Izuna feels himself calm just enough to have a moment to appreciate the glory that is Tobirama’s vulnerable pale back.
He needs to mark it. Mark Tobirama’s back and neck so anyone who sees his body will know he belongs to him and only him.
While they wait for Izuna’s knot to go down Tobirama just stays in position and moans as Izuna bites dark teeth marks into his skin before licking them as if to sooth the sting of the bite.
When they separate they both know it’s time to go. They can’t just keep going as they are.
There is a battle they need to get back to. He would feel more guilty not being there to protect his kin but he never fights anyone other than Tobirama anyway. So them being away doesn’t change much.
As they dress in silence Izuna keeps looking at Tobirama’s mating gland, a place he bit over and over. But as expected the bite looks just like any normal bite. No chance of it taking, not that there was ever a chance. Alpha’s can’t bond with each other. It’s just a fact. Still a part of him aches for it to be possible.
Tobirama is standing there staring at him as he slowly dresses staring right back.
“Next time I’m going to mark every part of you until you have to wear full coverage clothing even at home. Not even your arms will be safe,” Tobirama says with a feral glint in his eyes.
Izuna believes him completely. And he can’t wait for the opportunity to make it happen again. Will it happen as they run into each other on a mission? Or are they going to start running away during every battle? If so they will only get to see each other every couple of months. Battles only happen a max of four times in a year, and only if there is extra provocation.
Since Hashirama and Madara took over they have been avoiding battles as much as possible. Is it wrong of him to hope that they can see each other sooner?
“I need to take us back now. Both clans have retreated but I can feel Madara and Hashirama looking for us. I can bring us back just a little ways away from Hashirama. No offense but I don’t trust your brother not to cut me down if he sees us fighting. Hashirama will never hurt you unless it’s to save my life.”
Izuna grimaces but nods. They both know it’s true. Just as much as they both know it’s them that are keeping peace from happening. Neither of them trust each other's clans to hold peace. To be honest neither of them trust their own clans to hold peace. It’s not something they can risk. Not for this.
-.-
In the two years since that first time they fucked they have managed to meet with each other a couple dozen times. Due to Tobirama’s immense sensing abilities he’s able to keep track of Izuna’s missions and plan his own so they can overlap as much as possible.
They fight for dominance every time, sometimes they top multiple times in a row, sometimes they trade back and forth. Each time they mark each other more and more. The desire to really mate each other is stronger every time. Even though they both know it will never be possible.
Tobirama will admit he’s researched more than once if there is a way to change one's designation. If he could change himself into a beta, or better yet an omega. He would do it in a heartbeat. He wants so badly to be Izuna’s in every way. For Izuna to be his. But they both know it can’t happen the way they are.
But all his research turns up nothing. There doesn’t seem to be a way to change what you are. Because it’s more than just a physical change. It’s their scent, it’s their mating glands. He’s certain that if he wanted to he could find a way to give himself a cunt instead of a dick, but it wouldn’t change his scent, it would make them suddenly able to mate. So what’s the point? He likes his dick just fine and enjoys the way they fuck as it is.
So imagine his surprise when one day after two years of failed research, when he is relaxing in the bath house Hashirama comes in and starts freaking out about his mate.
“What on earth are you talking about anija?” Tobirama grouches with his head still leaned back on the tiles behind him. Whatever nonsense Hashirama is spouting isn’t going to stop him from enjoying his bath. After that last mission when he met with Izuna, Izuna had fucked him hard, and without as much prep as they usually do because they were hiding in a closet in a noble’s house. So he needed this bath to relax and soothe his very sore backside.
“Your mating gland! Who bit you? How did you court someone without telling me? Who is it?” Hashirama exclaims in excitement as he sinks down in the bath moving over to Tobirama to inspect his mating mark.
Tobirama jerks up and slaps a hand to his gland. Hashirama had to be joking. He can’t have a mating bite. He just can’t. He pokes around it and sure enough there are four indents from Izuna’s teeth, and his gland is pulsing. How did he miss this? How did Izuna? Was it that last parting bite? He bit Izuna too. Does Izuna have the same mark? Does this make them mates?
He needs to see Izuna. He needs to see him now. But he can't, he can't and he doesn’t know what he’s going to do.
It takes two months for an opportunity to come up again. For him to see Izuna. Unfortunately it’s during a battle. And as much as he wishes he could just take them away as soon as the battle starts he knows he has to wait. He has to wait until they are farther away from everyone. So that people don’t start to realize what is happening. As far as the Senju are concerned Tobirama leads Izuna away to keep him from hurting any of their clan mates. As far as he knew Izuna’s clan thought the same.
The battle is just heating up, and they are slowly moving away, closer to the tree line when he sees Izuna’s eyes widen, he throws his sword behind him and lunges at Tobirama. He doesn’t understand what is happening. Until pain blooms through his chest, he looks down and sees a sword piercing through his chest.
Izuna goes flying right by him, tackling someone behind him.
Oh. Oh. Izuna wasn’t lunging for him. He was lunging for the Uchiha behind him.
Little too late. He tries to laugh but blood bubbles out of his mouth instead.
His fall to his knees is stopped by Izuna’s arms wrapping around him. “Tobi. Tobi no. No. It’s okay. It’s okay. We can fix this.” Izuna is panicking, he can see it in his eyes and hear it in his voice.
He wants to respond but blood is filling his lungs so he knows he won’t be able to get any words out.
At least his last moments will be seeing Izuna.
“Hashirama! You Senju bastard get over here! He’s dying! Hashrama!” Izuna is screaming. Why is he screaming for Hashirama? It doesn’t make any sense. Hashirama might kill him if he sees this. Izuna needs to run, he needs to run far away.
Tobirama weakly tries to push Izuna away, but Izuna just clings to him tighter. Still screaming for his brother.
The sword is still in his chest and that’s probably all that’s keeping him alive right now. The second that blade is pulled out he knows it’s all over.
He tries to tell Izuna to go, but blood just bubbles on his lips again.
Izuna suddenly goes flying and Hashirama is in his place. He tries to tell Hashirama that it wasn’t Izuna. But his vision starts to go black and the last thing he sees is the glow of Hashirama’s hands.
-.-
The force of the vine that hit him takes his breath away. For a moment he thinks his ribs are broken. But even if they are, Izuna needs to get back to Tobirama.
He needs to get to his mate. He doesn’t know if Tobirama is marked the way he is, but he hopes so. In the end it doesn’t matter, Tobirama is his mate and he has to get back to him. If Tobirama dies he needs to be there, if he lives he still needs to be there.
He gets up as fast as he can, which is slow with his body aching the way it is but he pulls himself up and starts running back to Tobirama.
Madara catches him around the waist. “Give it up! You can kill him next time. You can’t take on Hashirama. He’s not that distracted even while healing. If you make one move to attack them his vines will skewer you before you even realize it.” Madara says as he tries to hold him back.
“Let go! You don’t understand he needs me!” Izuna screams as he kicks behind him trying to get Madara to let go.
“What do you mean he needs you? Who needs you? Kenji? You aren’t going to get him with Hashirama there. You’ll have to wait until they retreat. I don't even know if he’s alive.”
Izuna suddenly realizes that Madara didn’t see what happened at all. He doesn’t know that it was him that took out Kenji, he didn’t kill him but he did hit him with a chakra reinforced fist hard enough that he knocked him out before turning back to Tobirama.
“Fuck Kenji. Tobirama needs me. He needs me to survive.” Izuna is still screaming. The need to get to Tobirama is overwhelming. Exactly like every story he ever read. Mates, true mates can’t survive without each other. And he knows, if Tobirama dies, he’s going to die with him. But with that same strength true mates can speed up the healing process just by touching each other.
He’s not being dramatic when he says that Tobirama needs him. His best chance of survival is if he can get to Tobirama.
Madara is still fighting to keep a hold of him, even with all his fighting back. “What the fuck are you talking about?”
“He’s my mate! He needs me! He won’t survive without me. He needs me,” Izuna is pleading now, nearly crying.
Madara lets go in shock, and Izuna takes the opportunity to run for Tobirama.
He’s not stupid though, and Madara was right, Hashirama is more likely to kill him than to let him touch Tobirama.
So the moment he gets away from Madara he yells at Hashirama. “Senju! You have to let me help him! He’s my mate. Tobirama is my mate! He needs me. He needs me if he’s going to survive.”
He sees Hashirama look up from where he is healing Tobirama, slowly working the sword out and healing as it’s removed.
Izuna isn’t sure why Hashirama doesn’t need more convincing, why he so easily believes him, but he isn’t going to question it. He drops to his knees the second he gets by Tobirama’s side, grabbing his hand and kissing his forehead, he whispers, half sobbing and half trying to appear strong, “you’ll be okay. You’ll be okay. I’m here. Hashirama is here. He’s going to save you, okay?”
He doesn’t know how long he sits there before Hashirama leans back to tell him that Tobirama will survive. The second the words are out of the Senju’s mouth Izuna is grabbing Tobirama and pulling him into his arms. Holding him tight and crying into his shoulder. “Mate, my mate. No one can take you. You’re safe. You’re mine. I won’t let anyone hurt you again. We can run away. Fuck this war, fuck it all. We will leave. Okay? We will just leave.”
“Fuck this war?” He hears Madara ask behind him. “What is going on? You said that we couldn’t trust them and you’re what? You’re mates? Tobirama is an alpha, right?” His brother asks, confused.
It’s Hashirama that responds, “yes, he’s an alpha. But he’s mated. I saw the bite myself. He wouldn’t tell me who it belonged to. He said it was too dangerous.” Hashirama pauses, he can hear him shuffling behind him but he keeps his eyes on Tobirama. Waiting for those beautiful red eyes to open again. “It’s you. That’s why he won’t say. Because we are at war. And it’s you.”
He hears Madara’s intake of breath before the heavy sound of armor and a body hitting the ground follow it and suddenly Madara is right at his side with a hand on his shoulder. “Is he right? Tobirama is your mate? You’re mated? More than that, is he your true mate?”
“Yes,” Izuna whispers. His hands running all over Tobirama’s body, just feeling for any injury. “He’s my everything. I’m done with this war. I don’t care about any of it any more. He’s all that matters.”
Silence follows his words. He doesn’t even know if his clan is still there. Did they retreat? Or are they all watching this? Listening to him become a traitor, listening to him choose his enemy over them?
“Well. Maybe we can make peace happen. Or at least a ceasefire?” Hashirama says from somewhere to his left.
“Don’t think we have another option. This makes us kin. We can’t very well have a war with kin now can we?”
He hears muttering all around him but hears none of it as Tobirama’s eyes flutter open. “Zuna?” His mate whispers hoarsely.
“I’m here,Tobirama. I’m here and everything is okay.” Izuna reassures him. Tobirama smiles weakly at him before closing his eyes again.
Before he has a chance to panic again Hashirama is speaking, “he’s okay. He lost a lot of blood. He’s going to be out of it for a couple of days.”
Izuna slumps with relief.
“Come on Izuna, we need to go home. We can talk about all of this later after everyone is back.” Madara says sternly. Every bit the pack alpha and clan head that he is.
But his words mean nothing compared to a true mate bond. “I’m not leaving him. I don’t care if that means I go with the Senju. I’m not leaving him.”
He hears Hashirama and Madara argue behind him but ignores it. None of it matters now. Tobitrama is alive and in his arms.
In the end it’s decided to build a temporary shelter here. One big enough to hold ten people from each clan. The rest are sent back. Hikaku leads the Uchiha back and agrees to talk to the clan elders, while Touka does the same for the Senju.
But everyone agrees. Their bond makes their clans kin. If it had been some random clansman things may have been different. But they are the heirs to both their clans. They can’t afford to lose them, and no one is willing to kill them for the sake of a war no one remembers the reason for.
Izuna and Tobirama both have to admit, if only to each other because they have too much pride for anything else, that they were wrong about peace not being possible. It was being built right around them. Because of them.
They were never going to have to part again.
And to the misfortune of nearly everyone close to them, Tobirama and Izuna never stopped their constant need to mark each other. The way they wanted to possess each other.
The number of times they are told to get a room are too high to count. Neither of them care, and no they don’t stop being absolutely feral about each other.
-.-
The end.
