Chapter Text

It had been so long since he had last seen any of them,
Both a blessing and a curse
Amethysts visits were painful
And he didn’t know how to take his love’s face grinning down at him
While trying to torture him for information.

It would be so much hotter
If Amethyst wasn’t so good at getting him to scream in pain….
And not the fun kind.
He could really go for a Red cuddle today.
He missed those.

Looking back over at his cell door
He sees Sapphire staring at him in shock.
It takes a second for the differences to kick in.
For the lack of commands yelled out
And the subtle recognition in his Blueberry’s eyes.
A soft, “Blue?” Etched into the silence,
Almost a plea for mercy to the goddess.

“Shadow? How… How are you alive?!?!?!?”
Shrieked out as the shock becomes horror and grief.
“You were dead. I- I remember you dying.”
Blue’s mind swirling. As her lacking memories still cause problems.
In spite of her shock and horror she hurries to the cell bars
As if pressing herself into the bars will determine whether this is a lie.

Shadow pulls himself up from his cot,
Grief turning into hope
As Blue’s eyes shine with recognition
At least some.
“No, no. I’m not dead.
Vio brought me back, remember?”
His hands coming up to clutch at Blue's.

The hope tinged Horror in Blue's eyes
Turning to grief and anger.
Her frustration at not remembering her own life made her wince,
As the lack of memories continues to destroy herself and those around her.
“I don't. Shadow, something happened.
I don’t know what, but I’m the only one to remember anything….
And even now it’s still not enough!”

She wants to punch a wall.
She wants to ring somebody's neck.
She wants her memories fully back!
To stop feeling like she’s in this nebulous place where she doesn’t know what is and isn’t true.
It’s Shadow’s hand on her cheek that pulls her back up.
Frustrated tears in her eyes
Eased at the smile on her Shadow’s face.

“I’m just glad you remember me, Blueberry.
Everything else can wait.
Just… stay here with me for now, please?”
Trying so hard not to beg
But he really needs her to stay
To remind him he’s not alone
Not anymore at least.

The two lean against the bars of the cage,
Both sat on the grimy dungeon floors
Ignoring everything around them as they speak.
Hands held together with no wish to stop.
Broken shards coming together once more
As the two heal just a little from their time together.

Notes:

Giggling and kicking my feet. I love Blue and Shadow.
