The sun was shining brightly through the small window, hitting the shower curtains just in the right angle to make such a simple thing magical.
It was afternoon, the cheering from quidditch practice loud enough to hear even in the Gryffindor dorms.
For everyone else, it was a beautiful day. For everyone else, it was a normal, lazy day, a day where you didn't have classes and detention.
Not for the two teens though.
The dark haired prankster was currently sitting on the closed toilet lid while the other one was disinfecting the wounds.
"So.." looked up Remus from his handiwork. "Does it hurt?" The question was stupid. He knew it was. But he couldn't bear seeing Sirius being this quiet and sad. He had to get him to talk, even if it meant asking the most ridiculous thing that came to mind.
"No." It was a lie. Of course it was. But Sirius didn't want to see more sadness in Remus' eyes, even though he knew his Moony could hear the waver in his voice.
"It's okay if it does." Sirius teared up at that.
For Sirius, this was one of the worse days. He woke up at 4am and couldn't fall back asleep, not even next to Moony. Then, he got a letter at breakfast. From his parents. He hasn't talked to either of them since he ran away. He has heard about them through Regulus (after a very long talk - yeah, they needed that), but to get a letter from them?
He debated opening it at first, wanting to burn it to crisps. But his curiosity got the better of him.
I'm not gonna quote the letter. It would be too hurtful for all of us. But it was just the basic things. Like how Sirius is a disgrace and a failure. How he won't get anything in life. How nobody. loves him.
He should have shrugged it off. A year ago, he would have. But not now. He hasn't heard things like that since he escaped that rotting house. And the words cut deep. So he did, too.
Trust me when I say, Sirius didn't want it to get this bad. He wanted a little pain. Maybe one little slice. Just something to ground him. But one little slice turned into two and two turned into... well, a lot. His thighs were a mess. The bathroom floor was a mess. He was a mess.
And then came Remus. Oh, the dearest person a guy like Sirius could ever ask for. He was his safe place. His home.
The brunette opened the bathroom door slowly. Painfully slowly. At first he was just standing there, looking down at Sirius in a dazed state. Then after a moment, he snapped out of it and sat down besides the bleeding teen, cupping his face and pulling him close. They sat there, in each others embrace.
Sirius didn't know when he started crying, but Moony's sweater was a mess. It dodn't bother Remus though, that was the least of his worries.
He debated bringing Sirius to the nurse. Looking at his lover's face, he realised Sirius didn't wanna explain anything to anyone at the moment, so he pulled up Padfoot and sat him down on the closed lid of the toilet.
Remus fetched the medkit that was placed in every bathroom of every dorm and started working on the wound. That's how they got into this situation.
"I... I don't know why I did it." Sirius whispered. He regretted his actions now. The grounding feeling only stayed for a few seconds before dissapearing into the rays of sunshine in the room.
"It's okay, you know. Feeling down." Remus finished with the bandages and was now standing up. He pulled Sirius into his arms and was holding him bridal style. "Happens to everyone. It's also okay" he stopped talking for a moment as he manouvered through the doorframe "to talk to somebody about it. You didn't even need to talk. Just come to me if you ever feel this way, alright?"
He laid Sirius down on his bed and got in next to him. Sirius immidiately scooted closer and buried his head in his lover's chest. Remus draped the blanket on both of them then put a protective yet comforting arm around Sirius.
"I'm here. I'm not going anywhere. I wanna help you. I want to be by your side and experience everything with you. But you have to let me. Please let me." He whispered into the messy black hair.
They dozed off like that, in each others arms, legs tangled, heart full of love. Nonethless to say, Sirius went to Moony after this day.
