Chief Prosecutor's Office.
Open windows allowed a cool gust of wind to flow through the office. Sebastian always enjoyed Fall, it was a reminder of the countdown to Halloween; He was super excited for Halloween this year as his Dad promised he'd take him trick-or-treating - He had said it the year prior, but never followed through, using the sorry excuse of: "I'm very busy with work, Sebastian." But this year, he had promised and his Dad rarely broke his promises.
Sebastian sat at his Father's desk, clenching a black crayon in his hand, scribbling drawings of himself and another person on a scrap piece of paper he found laying on the rustic desk. The office was elaborate, of course it was, he was sat in the Chief Prosecutor's office. There were all sorts of medals and awards scattered around the room. Debeste's ego seemed to be fueled by his awards.
Humming, the boy happily kicked his legs and tilted his head to the beat of a familliar waltz. While he was drawing, he couldn't help but think about the other person he once met, who immediately became his first - and last - friend. She was the daughter of another prosecutor; when they had met, Sebastian's Dad had told him to play with this girl while he talked to her Dad. This girl was welcoming, she didn't turn him away unlike everyone else.
-
He was sat on the floor, red plastic car in hand, other toys scattered around him, he refused to make eye-contact with anyone; he heard a crisp but soothing voice coming from above him. He didn't look.
"Hi! My name is Kay Faraday! What's your name?"
He had never heard a voice so cheerful, it was dripping with excitement. It took him by surprise that someone was talking to him. Sebastian tilted his head upward, his gaze meeting with an outstretched hand, and a beautiful girl before him.
"…Sebastian." He muttered under his breath. Sebastian wasn't sure of the 'correct' way to introduce himself, but he was trying his best.
Kay lowered her hand, and sat beside Sebastian.
"Woah.. That's such a cool name!" A cheesy grin was smeared across her face.
She picked up a green plastic truck layed near Sebastian "Can i call you Sebby?" Kay asked.
Sebastian had never had a friend prior to this, it was almost like he deterred everyone away. Now having someone be so warm and friendly towards him was something that he never knew; he struggled to wrap his head around how to socialise.
-
He missed her.
Suddenly, the door burst open and there his Dad stood, staring directly at Sebastian with nothing but fury in his expression. He didn't pick up his father's rage, and dropped his crayon and jumped off of the cushioned chair he rested on.
Sebastian looked at him and smiled. "Dad!" He was so excited to see his father, he ran over to him, little footsteps pitter-pattering towards Blaise.
"Sebastian Debeste." He looked down upon his son, arms crossed behind his back.
Uh oh. Sebastian did something, he was sure of it. He stopped in his tracks, his excitement quickly turned into something resembling fear, he grabbed one arm with the other, looking away.
"What have i told you about going into my office, you useless child." Blaise walked further into his office, using his hand to guide - although it would almost be classified as him 'shoving' rather than 'guiding'- his son out of the way.
His eyes layed upon the desk, an important document with scribbles of black wax coating the top. Blaise strode over to the desk and picked up the sheet, his face scrunching up at what he would call 'repulsive'
He turned around swiftly, paper in his hand. He knelt down and snapped his fingers to get Sebastian's attention. Usually whenever Blaise snapped his fingers, it was a subtle sign for Sebastian to look at him.
He looked his way and saw the paper in the strong grip of his Father's fingers.
"How dare you, enter MY office, and start.. drawing on whatever paper you can get your grubby little fingers on. You know my policy on entering my office, Sebastian." He took a deep breath, Sebastian had looked away "LOOK AT ME." he spat and Sebastian snapped his head towards his dad, tears welling up in his eyes.
Sebastian wanted to run away and cover his ears. He hated when he got collared by his father.
"You don't enter my office AT ALL, unless i give you explicit permission, Do you hear me?" He took the sheet of paper and crumpled it up and threw it in his son's direction; It bounced off of his chest and onto the floor.
"Pathetic." he muttered.
"Get out of here. Now." Blaise held the bridge of his nose with his index finger and thumb. "I'm not taking you anywhere later this month either, I have work to do."
That was the last straw for Sebastian, he ran out of the room, tears running down his face. He hated his father, he hated him.
