Cranky

Summary:

Class 1-A always tried to be prepared for anything. But no one was prepared for a cranky Izuku Midoriya.

Notes:

This honestly kind of sucks, but I'm posting it anyway! Hopefully the next story I post is better :)

Work Text:

Class 1-A always tried to be prepared for anything. But no one was prepared for a cranky Izuku Midoriya.
It started with Izuku not giving his usual greeting to his friends in the morning, instead opting to ignore everyone in the room as he ate his breakfast.
Ochaco had tried to talk to him, but that ended with him rubbing his head and saying, “Shut up, your voice is giving me a headache.” Uraraka was rightfully taken aback by this, but didn’t say anything else.
Izuku didn’t eat as much breakfast as usual, which Todoroki pointed out.
“So what, I’m not as hungry this morning! Got a problem with that?” Izuku had snapped back. Todoroki ever-so-slightly flinched and muttered an apology.
“Hey man, he’s just showing concern. No need to get upset,” Kirishima put in. Izuku glared at him until he walked away.
Izuku was just as cranky at school whenever he was awake. None of the students dared to wake him up. The only one that probably would have been was Bakugo, but he was absent that day due to unspecified reasons (meaning that I, the author, don’t know what the reasons are).
Izuku seemed the most annoyed during English. Present Mic’s voice felt like it was grating into his skull, causing a slightly annoyed twitch of his fingers. Part of him wanted to use Air Force and knock the loud blonde into next week.
“Hey, Deku, are you still coming to our group hangout tonight?” Uraraka requested nervously during lunch.
“Why wouldn’t I go?” Izuku asked sharply.
“You just don’t seem like you’re in a good mood,” Ochaco replied. “I also wanted to ask if you were okay, since you never-”
“I’m fine, get off my back!” Izuku interrupted. He went back to slowly eating his lunch.
“You sure you’re okay? Usually, you’d be scarfing down Katsudon, but you’ve barely taken a bite,” Iida joined.
“Didn’t I just say to get off my back? That goes for all of you!” Izuku then got up and walked away from the table (after clearing his tray, of course).
During combat training, Izuku ended up having to sit out due to him fighting with his team too much. This did make the match more fair, making it so they had two teams of five and two teams of four. (since Bakugo is absent on this particular day for reasons I haven’t determined and likely never will)
Izuku barely watched any of the battles, instead relaxing on a bench and closing his eyes. He probably would have fallen asleep if it weren’t so uncomfortable. He wanted nothing more than to go to bed, but he still had a hangout with his friends that he had to get through.
Finally, school was over. Izuku, Ochaco, Iida, Shoto, Tsu, and Aoyama were all out on the couch, hanging out. Izuku was barely engaging in the conversation, instead leaning back on the couch and staring at the ceiling.

Bakugo was finally back from wherever he had gone, and promptly ignored Deku and his friends in the living room, heading up to his dorm. He ended up being dragged into a hangout with the idiot squad.
“Today was pretty normal, honestly,” Kaminari started.
“Other than Midoriya,” Kirishima continued. “If any of us even spoke one word to him, he snapped.”
“He also looked particularly annoyed in English earlier,” Sero noted.
Katsuki sighed and got up.
“Hey, where are you going?” Mina asked.
“To test out a theory,” was Bakugo’s answer.
“Okay, anyone else confused?” Kaminari asked when Bakugo was out of sight. The rest of the squad agreed.

“Deku!” Katsuki yelled as he stomped into the room.
“What do you want, Kacchan?” Izuku groaned and glared at Bakugo.
Bakugo stomped over until he was right in front of Deku. Then he promptly placed a hand on his forehead, causing quite a shock to anyone who saw.
Katsuki clicked his tongue. “Just as I suspected,” he said with surety. “You’re sick, now get in bed, you **** nerd!”
Izuku just sank further into the couch, not having the energy to move. All his friends looked a bit confused.
“Something all you extras should know: Deku only gets cranky and mean when he’s sick,” Bakugo stated. “Now get him to bed, because I’m going to wash my hands before I catch whatever he’s got.” The explosive blonde left the room.
Ochaco gently put a hand on Deku’s shoulder. “Why didn’t you just tell us you weren’t feeling well?”
Izuku sighed, before it ended up turning into the coughs he’d been holding back all day. “I didn’t want to worry anyone.”
“Well, it’s pretty worrying when your usually happy friend is in a bad mood,” Iida stated.
“Come on, let’s get you into bed, ribbet,” Tsu said.
Izuku was taken to the elevator by Tsu, Ochaco, and Aoyama. The three then put him to bed.
