-Devil in Disguise {The Skies}-

Chapter 31: -Betrayal-

Summary:

The angels land in hell and Keziah is not happy.

Chapter Text

Keziah stared at her phone as Abel hung up. "That little motherfucker. Shit!"

The Nephilim ran out from her room, merging into flames and appearing in the lobby. Eve, whom she landed beside, jumped at her sudden appearance. "Kez? What the heck are you doing?" Emily asked her fiancée worriedly.

"Abel is doing something stupid! He called me back!"

Keziah exclaimed. "He didn't order the attack on Alastor and he's doing something stupid. Said he's handling it when I mentioned that fucking deer." Sasha appeared beside her. "Anything else?" She asked, desperately trying to hide her worry for her father even if everyone had figured out she was worried by now.

"Nope, hung up on me. The little fuck. He simply said he's handling it, kept repeating it in reality. Annoying as fuck." Keziah replied with a groan, flopping onto a couch.

"Abel? Is he alright?" Eve asked and Keziah was reminded that while Abel was Adam's son, he was also Eve's child.

"He sounded stressed, but fine otherwise." Keziah assured her, but Eve did not look calmed down. Lute surprised them by speaking. "He is a bit of a coward, but I don't doubt he can trick people. His weapon is his words, not a sword." She said, holding a glass with some drink.

Lately, Lute had become more easy to deal with for two reasons. One, she barely talked to anyone and secondly, when she did speak, she was actually usually useful. "Oh, you think that?" Eve asked in surprise. "Don't push your luck sinner." Lute snapped.

Of course, Lute was still Lute, no matter what happened.

Eve rolled her eyes, but did seem genuinely calmed down, only a little but it was better than her panicking.

"Okay, let me get this straight." Lucifer said, rubbing his templates.

"The bellhop is stuck in heaven and Abel is handling it? In what way does he mean that?" Lucifer asked and Keziah didn't have a response. "I don't know. Hopefully he knows what he's doing, but I can only hope that it works out." She said, Emily placing a hand on her shoulder.

The two engaged partners had yet to actually tell anyone about their engagement. The only one who knew was actually Abel, who was Keziah's oldest friend and she trusted him to keep it hidden.

While they knew they probably didn't need to hide it, there was just too much going on.

Niffty came skipping in, holding a dead rat. Lute made a disgusted expression, but stayed silent. "Niff, where the hell have you been? Haven't seen y'a for a while." Angel Dust asked the small maid. "Chasing rats. They thought they could hide in the walls." Niffty laughed creepily before running away, dead rat in one hand and a bloody knife in the other.

"She's...something alright." Jojo commented with a creeped out look. The Overlord had talked to her father fully now and sat by the bar.

Husk had been unsure if he should give her alcohol or not, but Jojo snapped at him, telling him that she was far into adulthood when she died ("You served me alcohol when I came to visit you when we were alive! Why does it matter now?!) and Husk relented.

Keziah had found the exchange funny, but snapped out of her thoughts. "There is not much we can do, not from here." She said, sitting up correctly from when she flopped onto the couch. That fact pissed her off.

The biggest reason Keziah joined hell was so she could make a change and now she could do nothing either way!

Why can't I be part of both worlds, not just one of them?

The Nephilim sighed, leaning back and looking up into the ceiling, which she regretted a second later.

A crash and suddenly wood and metal rained down at the residents in the lobby. Keziah called out in shock and vaporise the piece of metal that almost hit her in the head as she flew up from her seat, her blackened wings keeping her in the air.

"What the fuck?!" Angel Dust swore as he appeared from behind a piece of wood. "Must this place always get attacked or destroyed?!" But they had not been attacked, which Keziah realised as a red figure rose from the rubble, holding a staff.

"Alastor!" The Nephilim exclaimed in shock. "~Hello my dear.~" Definitely Alastor. "Al!" Charlie called out, also in shock. Sasha appeared from the shadows, having hid in them as the roof came crashing down.

"Dad!" The doe sinner called out as well. "What the fuck?!" Her worry shifted into anger again. Keziah had to resist rolling her eyes, but was distracted as someone sat up.

It was a winner that Keziah didn't recognise. "Oh fuck." She swore, flying down to the girl. "You okay? Alastor! Why are there angels here?!" Keziah exclaimed, but was interrupted. "Hey Kez! The plan worked, somehow."

Keziah turned to glare at the blonde Abel, who was now sitting up. "Plan? THIS WAS YOUR FUCKING PLAN ABEL?!" Keziah yelled at him, horns poking through her hair. "Kez! Calm down!" Emily yelled at her, calming the Nephilim down. "What the fuck Abel." She grumbled under her breath.

The residents could now see two more angels other than Abel and the winner. Another winner similar to the first one and an exorcist. Keziah looked at the exorcist suspiciously. "She's with us." Abel explained as he noticed her stare. "How many fucking people have you recruited?!" Keziah exclaimed as the rest of the residents reached them.

"Abel?"

It was Eve. "Mom?" Abel asked in shock as Eve brought him into a hug. Eve did not answer him. The exorcist stood up, an X shaped scar across her face. "Fuck me, Layla?" Vaggie swore in shock upon seeing the exorcist and Keziah finally recognised the angel.

It was someone Vaggie had been close to, but she had been punished for some reason that was never explained. Now Keziah knew what the punishment was judging by her face.

A hand poked out from under some rubble and Keziah lifted it up. "Motherfuck- not you too." Keziah complained as she recognised the former sinner below.

"Hello misss." Sir Pentious replied as he stood up. "Pen!" Charlie exclaimed, throwing her arms around her friend. "Charlie! I have missssed all of you!" Sir Pentious exclaimed as he was tackled by Cherri Bomb. "You motherfucker." She swore, but hugged him anyways.

Keziah looked up, realising what happened. "Did you all fucking jump from heaven?" She asked, Lucifer's face paling (somehow) as she spoke. "~This angel here opened a portal halfway to hell, the rest was a fall.~" Alastor explained, ear flicking away a piece of wood in his hair as he gestured at Abel, who Eve had yet to let go off.

"Um Eve? Abel's gotta breathe." Acai nicely pointed out, Eve quickly letting go. "Oh I'm sorry!" Eve apologised with tears in her eyes. "It's fine, I think my broken ribs will heal." Abel commented, Eve wincing. "Sorry." She repeated.

The two winners that looked quite similar to each other stood up. They were to Lucifer's shoulder, so quite short. "Damn, that hurt." The girl complained and the boy smacked her arm. "So, who are you two?" Molly asked, not recognising her fellow winners, but Niffty jumped up on a fallen over couch.

"I have so much to clean now!" Niffty complained, but then noticed the two winners, eye widening in shock. For once, Niffty seemed to be clear in the head. The two winners seemed to know her as well. "Niffty!" Charlie scolded her. "Not now." She said, but Niffty ignored her. "Niffty? What name is that?" The girl asked. "Then again, you always loved weird ass names."

Niffty jumped at the two, the residents calling out in fear, knowing how Niffty reacted to angels. But she surprised everyone by wrapping her arms around the two winners necks. "Ugh, okay, can't breathe." The boy said, but looked amused.

"Um, who are you two?" Emily asked in confusion. "I'm Yoko and this is my brother Akira." The girl said as Niffty let go, staring at them with shock, but a big grin was on her face. "We followed this, interesting group, to find out mother in hell." Yoko said.

"And we found her." Akira finished, looking at Niffty, who climbed up and sat on Yoko's shoulders.

"Okay how many people have secret children?!" Angel Dust exclaimed. "First Alastor, then Husk and now Niffty?! Niffty!" No one noticed Eve looking away from Sasha especially.

"It is weird, really is." Vaggie said in some stunned shock as Layla looked around. "Eh, where did our drama queen go?" She asked, looking around. "How many fucks did you all bring?" Keziah said with a grumble, glaring at Abel. "No more than her."

That didn't answer much. "Who is "her"?" Keziah asked suspiciously.

"Someone you might not be super happy to see."

And Keziah's world froze to ice.

-

From the rubble the furthest away, a figure rose. She rose far above the rest of the group, taller than Angel Dust, who was the tallest there. A majestic purple gown fitted her body, a golden crown perched in her golden blonde hair, wrapping around her blood-red horns and decorated with a purple gem.

Lilith, The Queen of Hell.

Keziah and Charlie's mother.

The whole group knew who she was without question. The queen's face had been on many resist posters throughout the years, so it was undoubtedly her. Lucifer had froze, pale and golden eyes wide in shock.

But swirling inside the gold was betrayal.

Lilith dusted off her clothes, seemingly not that bothered by the stares. She looked right at home in hell and as queen.

"...mom?"

Charlie's voice was a whisper, but echoed inside the silent hotel. "Hello Charlie." Lilith replied and found Keziah with her piercing red eyes as well. The Nephilim was staring at her with an open mouth, golden eyes piercing right through Lilith's soul.

No one moved and no one spoke for at lest twenty seconds until Keziah finally asked the question that was now nagging at her head.

"Why are you with the angels?"

No hello, just straight to the point. Keziah was pissed the fuck off.

Lilith frowned, hands behind her back. "A long stor-" She started.

"Cut the bull, you could tell stories for ages when I was a child, the length of your story doesn't matter. I want to know." Keziah snapped at her, landing on the ground from having been in the air.

The daughter of the devil's body had changed, horns penetrating her skull and a tail swishing behind her angrily. Eyes had gone red, just like how her father and sisters did. Keziah was glaring at her, hellfire threatening to be unleashed.

Charlie had teary eyes, hands over her mouth as Vaggie supported her. Keziah appreciated it. The two might have a complicated past, but Keziah had seen how supportive Vaggie was and how much Charlie loved her.

The Nephilims father was pale, staring at Lilith with wide eyes, tears threatening to fall from his eyes as well. But Keziah could see the same emotion that was in her chest in his eyes.

Betrayal.

"I- I made a deal." Lilith admitted and Keziah had to bite back a psychopathic laugh. "With who?" She growled, teeth gritted.

"Adam."

Keziah was shocked, stumbling back. Eve looked shocked as well, speaking up. "What? Why in all of the sins names would you do that?!" Lilith looked at Eve with genuine surprise. "Eve, haven't seen you-"

"-since Eden, yes I know." Eve cut her off. "Why would you make a deal with Adam?" She snapped in confusion. "To protect my family!" Lilith suddenly fumed, eyes glowing.

"They weren't going to spare the hellborn, so I made a deal. Adam keeps an eye on me in heaven while he spares the hellborn...and my family."

Keziah wasn't sure what to feel, betrayal burning in her chest.

"And you couldn't talk to me about that?"

Lucifer's voice was burning with betrayal as well. "You hate heaven Lili! Why the fuck would you make a deal to go there?! With Adam off all people!" His demon form slipped through, wings out and tail swishing as hellfire burned between his borns.

"I had no choice!"

"T̵̟̎H̶̷̪͠A̴̸̳̽T̴̴̰͌ ̸̷̞̿D̵̸̟̎O̶̷̪͠E̴̴̳̽S̴̷̰͌N̸̴̞̿'̵̷̟̎T̶̸̪͠ ̴̷̳̽C̴̴̰͌H̸̷̞̿A̵̴̟̎N̶̸̪͠G̴̷̳̽Ḛ̴̴͌ ̸̷̞̿T̵̴̟̎H̶̸̪͠E̴̷̳̽ ̴̴̰͌F̸̷̞̿A̵̴̟̎C̶̸̪͠T̴̷̳̽ ̴̴̰͌T̸̷̞̿H̵̴̟̎A̶̸̪͠T̴̷̳̽ ̴̴̰͌Y̸̷̞̿O̵̴̟̎U̶̸̪͠ ̴̷̳̽C̴̴̰͌O̸̷̞̿U̵̴̟̎L̶̸̪͠D̴̷̳̽ ̴̴̰͌H̸̷̞̿A̵̴̟̎V̶̸̪͠E̴̷̳̽ ̴̴̰͌T̸̷̞̿O̵̴̟̎L̶̸̪͠D̴̷̳̽ ̴̴̰͌M̸̷̞̿E̵̴̟̎!̸̷̞̿"

Lucifer screamed, voice distorted as his demonic form took over. Tears ran down his face as he stared at his ex-wife.

"That was fucked up, I won't deny that." Charlie suddenly said, also crying. Keziah was pretty sure she was as well. "You left, you never answered any calls or texts. I called you everyday for the past seven years and you never answered!" She was genuinely upset and angry. Also sad.

Lilith looked slightly desperate, but said nothing, realising it was a lost cause. "You can stay, but I need to process." Charlie said, leaving the scene abruptly. Lucifer said no more words as he disappeared in fire.

Keziah was the only one left.

"I am pissed off and I am betrayed." The Nephilim said. "You are my mother and I love you, but I need time to...process. I am not forgiving you anytime soon, I'll tell you that. Charlie got dad's niceness. I got your coldness. Do not expect any warmth from me-" Keziah met Lilith's eyes.

"-Lilith."

Lilith flinched like she'd been hit as Keziah called her by her name and not "mom" or "mother" Keziah almost regretted it as she disappeared into hellfire.

Almost.
