A year later, after the final Battle at the Garmadon's sanctuary...
The warm sun’s glow bathed the peaceful land Clan Garmadon called home as peace reigned for the family.
The morning doves sing their melody while the leaves fall peacefully onto the healthy grass; meanwhile, an elderly man was watering the flowers with great care for the foliage. The blooming roses and lilies brought memories of joy and splendor before the venom consumed his soul, rotting everything away. But that is the funny thing about rot. At times, rot can be the fertilizer for something new to grow. Thus, from the rot of Lord Garmadon, the Cursed Son of the First Spinjitsu Master came the Restored Sensei Garmadon, Husband to Lady Iron Dragon, Father to the Golden Ninja Twins, and Teacher of Peace... He was still surprised she stayed with him, even after his confession to her... about their relationship. But what surprised how she responded to-.
“Beloved.”
Speaking of...
“Koko.” He breathed while the elder woman offered her husband some tea, “Thank you.”
“You have done wondrous work with the garden and for our new home.” Misako grinned at the love of her life while the warm sun’s glow brought out the beauty of their land.
“Yes, this Sanctuary has come along nicely, pity it was blood money from them...” He breathed, still showing disdain for certain people.
“At least they will be safe here, and they will no longer try to shackle us... We just need to keep the secret, and with that, Lloyd’s and Lady’s safety is secured.” Misako nodded, while she still showed a look of pain.
The things she endured in those times, the ugly truth of it all. So many secrets were in their family and the secrets of Ninjago. If they were ever revealed, it would shake the very foundations...
“At least I was able to tell some things about their true selves, especially their curse...”
Several Weeks before, after the completion of the Garmadon's sanctuary...
Lloyd and Lady were summoned to their father by his former students within the heart of the sanctuary, the Monastery of Redemption. It was a place where wayward souls can have a place and find peace and themselves in a world that remembers every regret. The foundations were of peace, kindness, and second chances. Sensei Garmadon took in orphans, the infirm, the homeless, people who had nowhere to go, and gave them a place here.
The Chamberlain, a man who chooses not to speak of his name but knew everything about their family (“I brought care to you as babes, your father and uncle, even before them, you Grandfather and his siblings.”) waited for them at the top of the steps.
“Ah, Young Lord and Lady, welcome to the monastery. Your father waits for you inside.” He informed the siblings in a monotone voice before bowing.
“Thank you, Chamberlain.” The Twins bowed to the older short man.
The twins entered the monastery and spotted their father alone in the training room with his back to them and a staff in hand. When Lady and Lloyd approached, their father turned around,d and they bowed to each other.
“Hey, Dad.”
“What was it you wanted to talk to us alone for?”
Garmadon smiled and approached the twins.
“Lady, Lloyd, I thank you for coming.” Garmadon smiled at his children.
“We would always be here for you, Daddy,” Lady assured him.
“And I to you. You both have come so far and restored much of our realm, and yet, as defenders of Ninjago, you have yet to understand the nature of it or the person who created it.” Garmadon began before turning to a chest, an ornate chest of golden and ivory detail.
“Grampa? What about him?” Lady wondered with her eyebrow raised and her hands on her hips.
“Yeah, we know Grampa long ago created Ninjago and stopped the Overlord, we know he created the golden weapons, and we know that he died protecting Ninjago,” Lloyd answered his father, who pulled something from the chest.
“Ah, but those tales were close to the middle, and the end, our story, the story of your blood, and not only Ninjago but the existence itself begins with nothing.”
“Nothing?”
“Nothing.”
Garmadon then pulled out an old scroll and regaled the tale of the Nothing.
“Though we refer to the beast of hatred and darkness as the Overlord, his original name was Chaos or the Nothing. Before anything else, it was him.”
“So, we came from nothing, came from that?”
“Yes, and from the nothing was a sea, the Sea of Kaiju. Deities of pure energy itself, beings of awesome power and essence aligned by their own whims. In that sea came a violent and brutal war. Kaiju alike battled each other to oblivion, destroying themselves completely, and shaping something unlike anything unforeseen before.”
“Whoa.”
“Why did the Kaiju fight?”
“No one knows, my Princess. But many believed, including my father, that the Overlord sought for his own children’s destruction.”
“Sheesh, even in the beginning, he was a jerk.”
“Indeed, the children from nothing raged out of control for eternity until... There was no Kaiju left, but their corporal forms came something new, flesh, sinew, and bone; remains of the Kaiju birthed a realm, the First Realm. Within this First Realm, from the extinct corpse of the Kaiju came two new species, their children. Oni and Dragons.”
“Dragons came from something even more powerful than them?” Lloyd breathed before Lady spotted something in the pictures.
“Dad, these Oni guys looked like you, the you before.” Lady noticed while she pointed at the drawing.
“No, my Dear, I look like them.”
He then flipped the page, revealing the Oni and the Dragon in a single place.
“The Oni and Dragons, the duality left behind by the mighty Kaiju, beings of pure energy. The Dragon represented the Gardener of the Web of Life, sewing the seeds and creating; they birthed worlds, creatures, all forms of life with their element, for their light could create anything. The Oni represented the harvester, the end, darkness, and nothing that all must one day face. They tear down the realms, end the life, till the soil clears, and bring life.”
“Life and Death. Creation and Destruction.”
“One could not exist without the other.”
“Yes, the roles of both were needed in order to keep in balance with existence; however, such a thing was not easy. Dragons and Oni, true to their nature, conflicted with one another often. Unable to find the balance between the two sides of the second element, Chi Ring. There was no balance, no peace, just confusion and resentment.”
Garmadon then turned the page once again to reveal the results.
“...Confusion and Resentment then fanned into hatred and superiority and cultivated another war. War with the Oni and the Dragon. It would seem that harmony would never come to be, before it even could... but even though they fought, something was born from their magic, their chi of destruction and creation, returned something once extinct.”
Kaju, the second generation.
“Many of these children, their energy showed which parent it was most close to, creation or destruction, Dragon or Oni. Only one, the last child of war with their parents, was centered perfectly, with both strong connections with Creation and Destruction. The youngest son was the truest definition of a true Kaiju. Creation and Destruction. However, such a perfect son would not be shared, but hoarded. The Oni and Dragon fought for who the child belonged to, and the ache in the boy’s heart created a beat where he could escape. His art became a means to escape; thus, he used his powers not only to help himself but also for his siblings to escape, and from this unity of family, and the love of a brother’s wish, but thrive in a world their youngest sibling created for them, Ninjago.”
“Wait, Grampa was a Kaiju?!?!” They gasped while their father smiled.
“And not the only one. Son, Daughter, there is more to your curse, more to your family, and more to yourselves than you know.”
Garmadon then transformed before their eyes, revealing his true self, not just his oni form, but his true Kaiju self. Lady and Lloyd were stunned by what they were seeing, what their father really looked like!
“We are not exactly human, though we are great at hiding ourselves.”
Lady and Lloyd were stunned by the essence of their true beings and the curse’s true power. Their father explained that the curse didn’t turn them into monsters, but their true selves, out of control with their power. It removed the balance of their souls and caused an influx where they rampage from the conflicting essence of Creation and Destruction inside them. The Teas return the balance but only for a short time.
“For them to defeat the curse, they needed to find their balance themselves. Truly a diabolical curse.” Garmadon admitted before his wife kissed him on the cheek.
“We will find a way to help them, but for now all we can do is be there for them... At least, they sometimes call me their mother.” Misako strained a smile.
“Koko, it will take time, and they don’t know the truth... You are the greatest mother I have ever known, especially the greatest parent in our family. What you did took the ultimate sacrifice... I wish I could have been there to stop it.”
“Do not blame yourself, it is like you said before, we’re here for them now, and we have all the time in the world to rebuild our bonds,” Misako answered while her husband wiped away her tears.
“My Lady Iron Dragon, how did I ever deserve someone as you?”
“You know, after all, you proved to me you are my other half, all those years ago.” She answered with a smile.
“...Misako, I still think Wu should know what happened.”
“I know, but for now, let us keep this a secret until we can best tell him, together.”
“I should tell him alone.”
“No, we should go together. After all, I never regret choosing you.”
Garmadon smiled, and he hugged his wife.

Alone in the endless sea of information....
Overwhelming, painful, harrowing.... the comforts of nothingness could not even be found in this world of false dreams and memory. How long has he slept here? How long were his dreams ripped away from him? How long has history repeated itself? The memories were overwhelming, overlapping, that spiteful and hateful golden power, the images burned into his very being! The twins then left. Lady help Lloyd continue walking as soon as they were the only two left... the only two to face the Overlord.
“Oh, how I have dreamt for this day... your grandfather cost me so much... how ironic that his son will help me tear it all down and how more joyous that I will kill his heirs with his own child.”

The golden entity of Dragon and Oni held his golden weapons tightly in his talons while his wings stretched to protect the world he created! Creation breathed through his mouth as the monster recoiled from the Golden Power. Blades clashed as evil and good combat one another! Light and Darkness forged epic things!

“We will not let you get away with this! We’ll stop you!” Lady shouted at the dragon while Lloyd joined her, “And we won’t back down.”
“HA! YOU TWO BELIEVED THAT YOU CAN STOP ME?!?!? YOU HAVE NO ALLIES, YOU HAVE NO WEAPONS, YOU’RE INJURED AND ALONE, LIKE YOU ALWAYS WERE!!! SIMPLE PATHETIC CHILDREN!!!”
The two continued to fight, but it was proven one-sided as the Overlord proved powerful.
“I AM PURE DARKNESS! YOU CANNOT DEFEAT ME! QUIT NOW AND YOUR DEATHS WILL BE QUICK!!”

“FOOL! YOU DARE TO OPPOSE THE DARKNESS!!! THIS REALM IS MINE!!!” The God of Oblivion declared with venomous intentions!
“THIS WORLD NO LONGER SUFFERS FROM YOUR VILE HANDS, ANCIENT ONE!!! NINJAGO WILL NO LONGER HIDE FROM YOUR STONE WARRIORS AND HIDEOUS VESSEL!!! I KNOW NOW WHAT I MUST DO!!” The FSM declared as he concentrated on the power of the four blades and himself!

“...Ninja never quit...” Lady muttered while trying to rise from the ground.
“WHAT?”
“Ninja never quit,” Lloyd spoke as their voices grew louder, forcing themselves to rise.
“NINJA NEVER QUIT!!!” They cried out as their true potential was unlocked, in golden hues!
They transformed as the green was overtaken by gold as the power of the First Spinjitsu Master coursed through them!
“NINJA NEVER QUIT!!!”

“NO, I WILL NEVER ALLOW IT!!! FOR WITH LIGHT, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE DARKNESS!!!”

“That power... NO!!!”
“WE ARE THE GOLDEN NINJA TWINS!!!” They declared as the final battle truly began!
A true battle of titans as the Overlord sees that his enemies were overcoming his own power! No, no! He will not lose, he will not fail, he will be the victor!
“ENOUGH!!!”
They were surrounded in darkness as the dragon tried to swallow them whole!! His victory seemed complete, only to be met with defeat!
The power of the golden light was overcoming him!!!
“No! NO! THERE WILL ALWAYS BE DARKNESS!!! THERE WILL ALWAYS BE ME!!!”

The Monster howled as the Kaiju summoned his full power and destroyed the body of his enemy, splitting his beloved Ninjago into two!

They soon summoned the Golden Dragon as the Darkness; the feared Overlord was defeated.
...

A projection of his nemesis came before him, three separate faces, but they were all the same. The arrogance, the fire rage, the icy intellect, the electric passion, and the earthly undaunted spite. Morning at the Garmadon's sanctuary...
Lady felt the light on her face as her mouth breathed a groan.
Her arms were stretched out while she was forcing herself to wake up from her most peculiar dream...
“Great, another weird dream about that place... and why were Lloyd and I surrounded by broken pieces of ceramics?” Lady grumbled while scratching her side.
Well, time for her to get ready for the day; after all, she still needed to put on her face. A quick wash, a quick brush of the hair, a quick dress into her student attire, not paying mind to her golden ninja attire since there was no need, equipping her lucky peach blossom charm, and she grabbed her backpack.
Garmadon the Cat was sleeping on her bed while she gave him a quick pet.
“See you after School, Kitty.”
He only grunted while she made her way to the window, seeing Slivergrail all ready.
“Hey, Lady, we need to hurry up! Grab your brother and let’s get going!” He shouted at her while she smiled.
“Don’t worry, I won’t let that sloth sleep in. If we have to go, then so does he.” Lady reminded him, then blew a joking kiss, “See you downstairs.”
“Y-yeah, see you.” He stuttered while he waited for the girl outside.
She was still amazing to him... maybe too amazing for him.
Lady quickly slithered her way to her brother’s room, who was still asleep.
“Lloyd, Lloyd, hey. Time for school.”
His only response was snoring.
She rolled her eyes.
“Lloyd, hey! Come on, we need to go!” She yelled, but he was still sleeping.
She then left the room and returned with her cat.
“Last chance, Lloyd.”
His answer was only snoring, which she smirked.
“Garmy~.” She sang to her cat, who acted, transforming into a Kasha and preparing to belly flop on the sleeping boy.
Downstairs in the kitchen...
Misako and Garmadon heard Lloyd grunt in pain while the ceiling shook a bit.
“Lloyd’s awake. Pity the boy is not a morning person.” Sensei Garmadon smiled while preparing breakfast.
“Certainly, got that from you... especially when you were a young man, not even the quakes of Ninjago could wake you.” She chuckled while enjoying her coffee.
“Lady, on the other hand, is like you; she enjoys the sunrise.”
Their ears must be burning because here they come.
“Why do you need to do that? I could have died.” Lloyd whined at his twin.
“Quick whining or you’ll never be a man. Besides, you were asking for it.” Lady countered while they made their way to the dining table.
“Your tea is on the table; breakfast should be ready in a bit.” Their father informed them while he was using four arms to cook.
“Thanks, Daddy.” Lady thanked her father, then drank her daily tea, keeping herself under control from within.
“How come we’re basically deities but we still need to go to school after saving Ninjago?” Lloyd asked his father, who brought them breakfast.
“All the more reason for you to go to school. You should learn more about the world you are protecting, to ground yourself with the people whom you treasure.” Garmadon informed the twins, “You two should know what it is like to be a normal teenager and not to be tethered to being a ninja. Be kids for once and enjoy your youth.”
The twins then finished their breakfast, packed everything they needed, and bid goodbye to their parents before leaving with Slivergrail for school. The proud father and mother watched them set off for private school, happy for them to enjoy some normalcy for a change.
“Makes you wonder how my brother and his academy are doing?”

At Ninjago’s Prestige Private School...
The school their parents sent them to was quite different from the Darkley’s of their childhood.
For one, no one was vacantly evil, though many of them came from prestige families, many, many rich kids or prodigies that got in through their talents. They seemed to discourage such things as they were destined for greatness that Ninjago expects from them, the twins could relate while they walked with Slivergrail to their school, uniformed, cleaned, pressed, and worn perfectly. The second was that technology was forbidden; everything was traditional, and the headmaster believed that technology acts as a crutch to the human spirit, and so they must remember the old ways before embracing the future. Another was that the trio was instantly popular among their classmates. Why wouldn’t they be? After all, the twins were Golden Ninja Twins, and the three of them saved all of Ninjago from the embodiment of evil.
There was a guarantee of popularity.
“They’re here! They’re here!”
“The Golden Ninja Twins!”
“Marry me, Lloyd!”
“Looking good, Lady!”
“Isn’t that the snake guy who took down the stone warriors when they invaded?”
“Cool, heard he was adopted by the sons of the First Spinjitsu Master.”
“Heard Lady has a spirit guardian that breathes fire.”
“They are so cool~.”
“I wish I could be like them.”
“Maybe they can give lessons in that Spinjitsu thing.”
“Heard their recently reformed dad is particular on who can learn from him. You need complete dedication to his teachings. Then there’s his brother, Master Wu who’s teaching a school of brats.”
“Yeah, after Darkley’s disappeared.”
“Wow, they look pretty hot. It is so unreal for someone to look that naturally good-looking.”
“Heroes of Ninjago~!”
“So awesome!”
The usual praises and admiration while Lloyd’s, Slivergrail’s, and Lady’s circle of friends continued to grow. It was weird for them to be so well-loved and admired among the community, to be welcomed with open arms. Their childhood before Wu took them in was an empty book of darkness, but now the box was filled with light and love, friendship and wisdom. Now, they can enjoy life, not as ninja, but as children, children making their first year at high school. It was odd for them, forced to grow up, forced to become the heroes everyone wanted them to be, for them, for once, to know the enjoyments of the common man.
“Man, I wish they didn’t make us wake up this early,” Lloyd whined before yawning, trying to shake the sleep away.
“You should be grateful that we can at least sleep until the sun rises. From what Dad says, back in his day, they would make you wake up an hour before the sun rose, and you had to walk to school. At least we’re given a ride and time to rest before we get to class.” Lady reminded Lloyd of their father’s stories, “Oh, how’s your Class of Medical Practices going?”
“Great! Slivergrail and I are learning a lot. I was surprised to hear that Grampa had a Serpentine Assistant who started the fields of medicine and engineering.” Lloyd Garmadon answered while showing a photo of a female Serpentine with a staff of a two-headed snake with wings.
“Aspheera the Sapient, one of the most intelligent masters of Ninjago and the only known Serpentine to hold the Elemental powers of Fire and Lightning. Her knowledge and practices are still used to this day as her inventions and advancements were eons ahead of her time.” Slivergrail admired the snake woman in the oil picture in the books, “Pity what happened to her. If she had not gone mad, she could have done even more amazing things, maybe even prevented the war of my people.”
“People say it was the Devour that made her mad.”
The trio soon then entered as they heard the bells ring their melody for class to start soon...
In Class...
The trio was in home room while their teacher, Mr. Kage-no-shita, was teaching the history of Ninjago, while the students wrote everything they could.
It seemed like a typical, normal school day while Lady, Lloyd, and Slivergrail were busy with their books.
“...And as you can see, the Era of the Trident proved that the creatures of the Sea, born from the Radiant Queen of Water, the Kaiju Kurage no Namida, basked in her power and knowledge before their vanity became their undoing. Such as the price of pride, they believed that the land, the islands of our world were putrid and foul and that the First Spinjitsu Master sullied the beauty of his sister’s kingdom with his own magic.” He lectured while showing the chalk drawings of the Merlopians and Wojira, “Wojira the Vain, Daughter to Kurage no Namida, challenges the Spinjitsu Master himself and declared the realm hers. She was defeated by the defector, Nyad, who earned the blessings of the Sea Goddess herself. Wojira was ruthlessly punished, and her grandchildren, the Merlopians banished from ever touching land again.”
Lady looked at the picture of Namida, feeling transfixed by her image.
“They say the waves of music of Kurage no Namida can allow the enlightened mind to foresee things to come-.”
Lady gasped while their teacher suddenly stopped talking!
“We are not exactly human, though we are great at hiding ourselves.”
Technology is turning blue to blood red, while machines are turned into ninja!
“Oh, how I have dreamt for this day... your grandfather cost me so much... how ironic that his son will help me tear it all down and how more joyous that I will kill his heirs with his own child.”
People covered in wires and screaming in pain while a shadow with spider legs laughed in their horror!
“I AM PURE DARKNESS! YOU CANNOT DEFEAT ME! QUIT NOW AND YOUR DEATHS WILL BE QUICK!!”
A creature combined with electricity and wires, cogs and steel, emerged from it all like a cocoon!
“No! NO! THERE WILL ALWAYS BE DARKNESS!!! THERE WILL ALWAYS BE ME!!!”
Lady gasped at the vision while she felt a hand on her teacher's.
“You, you, your brother, and your friend must go.” He ordered the girl, who understood the instructions.
Slivergrail and Lloyd did not have time to ask before Lady dragged them out of the classroom suddenly! The time for the Golden Ninja Twins to return was now!

Outside the Academy...
The trio, running in a desperate manner to reach New Ninjago, were greeted by their mother, the cat Garmadon, and the attire and weaponry they would need for the journey back.
“Guessing Dad had the same vision, too?” Lady assumed while Misako provided what they needed.
“Yes, your friends and uncle are in danger.” Misako informed them while she took the children’s school supplies, “Please be careful, both of you.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll keep them safe. N-not that I don’t believe that they couldn’t defend themselves, es-especially Lady. She is a formidable fighter and all. I-I-.” Slivergrail stuttered while Lloyd chuckled at his shyness towards his sister.
“You got my back,” Lady answered for him while she placed a hand on his shoulder, earning a blush from him.
“R-right.” He muttered.
“Smooth Snakeboy. We’ll bring them back to the sanctuary afterwards-.”
“Go! Go!” Misako pleaded with her children, shoving the weaponry into the carriage as Lady mushed her cat Garmadon to fly in his Kasha form!
“See you later, MOM!” Lloyd and Lady yelled before they flew into the air toward the new land of New Ninjago!
“We’ll be back soon, Lady Misako!” Slivergrail promised the elder woman who breathed out her worry before making the trip to the city!
The Golden Ninja Twins returned once again!
On the roof of Borg Industries in New Ninjago City...
This was not how their day was supposed to go.
Just a simple trip to the guy who made Ninjago City high-tech has now become a massive death trap! Poor Zane wanted to be with PIXEL, who was now brainwashed with her human father, Cyrus, and oh, goodie, the Overlord was back, but now was integrated into the tech that was New Ninjago’s Heart, which was now TRYING TO KILL THEM!!!
The creepiest thing was what the Overlord had on loop: images of Lloyd, Lady, and someone who looked like them... the first Master? Was that him? It was hard to tell with all the static.

“Dude, this guy really has problems!” Jay pointed out while trying to fight off the evil Nindroids with his technoblade.
“No way you’re getting near my brother and sister!” Kai snarled while breathing fire!
“No way I would let you lay a finger on Lady!” Clay firmly warned while Zane assisted with his ice.
“Oh, those twins... how much like of their grandfather they are.... once I have them, I will end their accursed line.”
“We will never allow that to happen. Nor will I allow you to keep PIXAL.” Zane firmly declared from the evil incarnate.
“Oh, but you will deliver them to me, assimilated like the others....”
Even with Nya’s copter and Wu’s help, it seemed that the ninja would be overwhelmed, forced to see the images of the Overlord’s memories playing over and over again.
The tides clashed and shook as the First Spinjitsu Master, in his true Kaiju form, the first creature of existence, faced against the villain, a shadowy beast that held his reflection!

The twins then left. Lady help Lloyd continue walking as soon as they were the only two left... the only two to face the Overlord.
“Oh, how I have dreamt for this day... your grandfather cost me so much... how ironic that his son will help me tear it all down and how more joyous that I will kill his heirs with his own child.”

The golden entity of Dragon and Oni held his golden weapons tightly in his talons while his wings stretched to protect the world he created! Creation breathed through his mouth as the monster recoiled from the Golden Power. Blades clashed as evil and good combat one another! Light and Darkness forged epic things!

From the sky on the carriage of Garmadon the Cat came the Golden Ninja Twins and Slivergrail.
“NINJAGO!!!” The trio cried as they intervened.
“Needing a hand, Master?” Slivergrail asked Cole, who smiled, but then realized.
“Guys, this is a trap! Get out of here!” Kai warned the trio.
“He wantsssss your powersssss!” Jay hissed at the twins!
“Duh, we know that,” Lady smirked at her honorary older brother.
“But we’re not leaving our family behind. Besides, we can tip the scales.”

Lloyd and Lady looked to the screens to see the final battle, one of their grandfather’s and one with them against the Overlord.
“You were right on how your light is bright, which makes smothering it all the more enjoyable.”
“If we beat you once, we can do it again!” Lady and Lloyd announced as the rematch began!
But even with the Golden Twins, it was clear that the ninja needed to retreat; they needed to protect the Technoblades and escape! If the Overlord gets his hands on either of the twins, it will be over! Wu however....
“Uncle, what are you doing?” Lady gasped, but Wu shook his head.
“Return with your father, I will keep them busy.”
“No, Uncle-!”
“Sensei!”
“...Go Ninja.” Wu ordered and then used his spinjitsu to force the copter to fly with the Kasha, “GO!”
They escaped, but Wu... Wu did not.
“Run children, but I will find you...”

In the skies...
No one spoke on the ride to where the twins and Slivergrail have been living.
What was there to say?
The Overlord returned once again, the ninja were forced to flee, Cyrus Borg has been turned into a minion while his technological empire has taken over by the embodiment of evil, Wu was kidnapped in order for his students, niece, and nephew to be saved, and Ninjago City was under his complete control. Oh, and to make it worse, Lloyd and Lady were being hunted for their powers, and if the Overlord gets his hands on either of them... No, no, they don’t need to think about that right now. Before Cyrus Borg was turned, he gave them a fighting chance. These technoblades hold the key to defeating the Overlord in Virus form and saving everyone that was left behind.
They could save Wu.
“I can’t believe we lost Wu...” Kai muttered to himself, trying to process the events that transpired right before his eyes.
He wanted to get back into the seat as a fearsome warrior hero, like he was before, saving Ninjago with his brothers and sisters, and escape the mundane existence of becoming a teacher to a bunch of brats. He already had to deal with that with the twins when they were still short, cute, and mischievous (mind you, he loved his little brother and sister with all his heart, even with the thorn of envy still stuck within), still he was tired of looking after brats and wanted to be a ninja again... just-just not this way.
“He’s not lost, just captured, and we’ll get him back.” Lady countered while they continued to fly near the sanctuary.
“How? How are we going to continue without Sensei’s guidance, without him to help us?” Cole asked, feeling despair, while Nya tried to comfort him.
“We still have the twins, and you’ve seen what they can do. Plus, we got whatever these things are, the Technoblades, whatever they are supposed to do.” Jay assured with a smile while trying to better understand the technology, “Whoa, this is pretty impressive, I can see the design was inspired by Aspheera the Sapient’s designs, I wonder...”
“Don’t mess with them, Jay. They are our only chance to stop the Overlord.”
“Hey, we’re still here.” The twins interject in the conversation.
“Oh no, neither of you are not going anywhere near that monster. If he gets his hands on you, then we are all doomed, and even if that weren’t the case-.” Kai firmly objected to his big brother voice.
“Come on, Kai. We’re not little kids anymore. We are the Gold Ninja Twins and kicked his butt before-.”
“Lady, Kai is right. The Overlord has prepared himself for you this time and now seeks your power as well as your deaths.” Zane agreed with Kai.
“We can talk more about this later once we are safe. Sensei Garmadon and Misako have already prepared for your arrival.” Slivergrail informed the other ninja.
“How-?”
“Sensei Wu is not the only one who can see visions in his family. Garmadon’s foresight is even broader than his brothers, and Lady is in training for her mastery of the third eye.” Slivergrail answered with pride while Lady blushed at the compliment, but the snake earned a glare from the Earth Ninja.
Nya noticed this too, with her own feelings being conflicted.
“Lady, I didn’t know you were psychic. Way to go.” Jay praised his adopted sister.
“Jay, I’m not psychic, my attunement to the universe and the threads of life. My training grants me the ability to see possibilities of what could be, or that’s how Wu and Dad explained it.” Lady answered with a smile, “And I don’t have full control, yet. I only see visions at random; I don’t have full control- Nya land here.”
“Oh, right.” Nya spoke, “Forgot your dad’s rule.”
Lady and Lloyd then find their seats, Lady taking one next to Cole and Slivergrail. Seeing the sadness of the Earth Ninja, she tried to give him comfort.
“Hey, Uncle Wu is going to be okay. Remember, he’s Wu, son of the first Spinjitsu Master, General in the War of the Serpentine, guy who survived the Devourer, held his own against the stone army, and the guy who always managed to cheat death.”
Cole smiled back at her.
“Yeah, you’re right, Lady. Thanks.”
The two smiled, and Lady wanted to say something to Cole.
But then the ship landed.
“Um, we’re here,” Nya informed them, while Misako was aboard the ship.
The first thing their mother did was hug her twin children in relief at their safety.
“Thank goodness your father was right. I don’t know what I would do if I lost either of you.” Misako fretted over her children, “I was about to go after you when-.”
“Come on, Mom. We’re tough nuts. Plus, the guys were with us.” Lloyd assured her.
Misako kissed both her children’s heads before turning to the ninja and Slivergrail.
“Thank you.”
“You might want to hold on to your thanks, Mrs. Garmadon.” Kai voiced while Garmy returned to his cat form, meowing sadly.
The once fearsome Lady Iron Dragon noticed something, looking around as the one person she expected to see was not there.
“W-where’s Wu?” Misako asked, but already knew the answer.
“He... he gave himself up to get us out of there,” Cole confessed to Misako.
“He has him, Mother,” Lady informed her mother.
“Wu... oh Wu....” She breathed her woes, “Quickly, everyone to the sanctuary. You will all be safe there. There is much we need to do.”
Everyone left the vehicle and soon began the walk to the Sanctuary, Misako stopping for a moment before looking at the sky.
“Hang on, Wu... We will return for you.” She promised before leading the others to their home.
While they leave for the place where they would be safe from the Overlord and his army of technology, a shadow stalks their every move, watching from a distance. Things will be more dangerous and more serious as time continues.

In Garmadon’s Sanctuary...
“You’re sure you’re gonna be okay by yourself, Zane?” Slivergrail asked the nindroid while he rested near a peach tree.
“Yes, it is best to respect the wishes of Sensei Garmadon and his estate,” Zane answered while Lady and Lloyd frowned at those words.
“I’m sure Daddy can make an exception, Zane. After all, you’re our friend, our teacher.” Lady smiled at the metal man.
“It is not the only reason, Lady. I simply-I simply wish to be alone with my thoughts.”
The twins looked at each other while Slivergrail gave him a pat on the back, “We’ll respect your wishes, too. But remember, we are here for you.”
Zane nodded while the group entered The Sanctuary.
“Everyone, welcome to Garmadon’s Sanctuary, a world built by the sweat, tears, and blood of our father.” Lady introduced the gang to the village her father built.
“Whoa, this is pretty amazing.” Jay admired while everyone was in awe of the beauty of the place, “Who knew the once evil mastermind could ever make something like this?”
“He did want this, even with the venom in his heart. He just wanted it for the entire world.” Misako countered, seemingly noticing the looks Nya was giving to Jay and Cole, “But he was going about it the wrong way, wanted too much, and so once freed from the evils forced upon him, he decided to settle with this small piece. He created a place where the wayward and unwanted would have a place in the world.”
The orphans...
The homeless...
The broken....
The scarred...
The Elderly...
The widowed...
The outsiders...
The unwanted...
People who need a place to belong and they belong here, where there was no judgment or pain, just community and silent understanding. Everyone pitched in the work to make everyone feel right at home, while the children played and had fun. They soon noticed the ninja and rushed to, instead of the original trio, but the great Golden Ninja Twins. Everyone was enjoying themselves while playing with the children, while Nya looked to the two who ensnared her heart.
“I have seen that face before, two hearts but one love.” Misako reminded Nya of her own past with men.
“Misako, I feel awful. I-I shouldn’t be having these feelings. I’m with Jay, and Jay is the only person to ever make me laugh. But Cole, Cole is so strong... but Lady likes him, I mean like him, like him! Maybe. She’s also seemed to notice Slivergrail as well-Ugh! Why is this so confusing?” Nya whined, not wanting to ruin anything.
“I have been where you have. Am I with the right person? Am I making the right choice? What if I hurt this person? What if they like them? What if there are no what ifs, only what are?” Misako advised the young woman, “You are all young, still trying to understand powerful emotions, and it is a confusing journey ahead. You have all the time to figure things out. Try to meditate on this, and if it doesn’t work, try talking out these feelings with them; getting them off your chest might help.”
“Okay, okay. I could do that. Thanks, Misako.” Nya thanked the elder woman.
“Just remember one thing... if you do something that hurts my daughter or that young man, there will be consequences.” She warned firmly, “Though you may not believe it, Lady and Lloyd are my entire world.”
“They are, aren’t they?” Nya breathed, remembering what Lady said to her about the business with the people turning into monsters.
“Hey, Misako... I’ve been meaning to ask you.... why-why did you leave us there? Leave us with Darkley's? Not at the Monastery with Uncle?”
Her face was drained of color, startling Lady as she helped her onto the bed.
“Whoa, hey, don’t go into shock, lady. I didn’t mean to freak you out like that. It was just a question.” Lady gasped while looking around, “Do you want me to get the others? Dad? Wu?”
“No, no, I am alright. Just-just need a moment.” She answered while Slivergrail and Lloyd entered the room.
They were quick to act as Misako wasn’t looking so hot.
“Hey, Misako-Mom are you okay?” Lloyd asked her.
“Yes, I’m alright,” Misako answered while she slowly got back up.
“Look... just forget what I asked.”
“Thank you. I need to... go out for a moment.”
If she wanted her kids in the beginning..., why did she send them to that awful place?
Was she threatened?
Who would threaten Lady Iron Dragon?
“Nya, hey Nya! I wanted to talk to you before we meet up with my Dad!” Lady chirped before wrapping her arm around her sister, “It’s about boys.”
Ah.
There it was.
“Can we talk alone?”
“Sure, sure. We could use a little girl talk.”
At Lady’s Room...
Nya was brushing her adoptive sister’s hair while the two of them talked about boys.
“Nya, I think I want to tell Cole how I feel. I’m ready to tell him about my true feelings for him.” Lady declared while Nya strained a smile.
“You are?”
“Yeah, Cole is an amazing person, and life is way too short to let these moments slip by. If my brother and I are gonna be facing off the Overlord, hopefully for the last time, I want to go in without anything weighing me down. But how and when do I tell him?” Lady wondered while looking at the Cherry blossom charm she was gifted with.
Nya frowned a little.
“Hey, Lady.... I-I want to tell you something.”
“Hmm? What’s up? You look a little... upset.”
“Not upset, conflicted.”
“With what?”
Nya sighed.
“I’ve been-I’ve have been having feelings for another boy.”
Lady was surprised, didn’t expect that. How do you expect something like that?
“Does Jay know?”
“No, not yet.”
“...Do you still love him?”
“Of course I do!”
“Let me rephrase that. Do you want to be with Jay, or do you want to pursue the other boy?” Lady asked her friend.
“I don’t know. I-I just don’t.”
“Nya, come on. I know you better than that. You are the strongest, honest person I know, my role model. It was thanks to you that I finally let myself be myself. You are my first friend.” Lady explained to her, “Look, you can’t ignore these feelings, and even talking about them helps, right?”
“R-right.”
“But you also can’t just act on those feelings; you need to think it through.”
“Right.”
“So, talk to Jay and whoever the boy is, get your feelings out; it will be good for you and the other two. Who knows? Maybe this is just a crush and will pass.”
“But what if I hurt Jay?”
“Just tell him, but don’t judgy okay? Just tell him about it and talk it out. It will be good for you and Jay in the long run. And if you and he aren’t meant to be... well, it’s better to rip the bandage than to lead him along, Jay deserves better than that.”
“You’re right. You’re right. Thanks.”
“I plan to do the same with Slivergrail. I mean, there is something between him and me, but I can’t really see him in love with me. It’s more like he’s grateful that I’m his hero, not as a person and not definitely as a woman.”
“Yeah. Yeah, good to know.”
After finishing brushing her hair, Nya helped put the charm back in her hair.
“So... Who’s the hottie you like?”
Nya was hesitant at first, but just as she was about to speak-.
“Come on, Lady, Nya! Dad is waiting for us in the Dojo; he wants to show us a new fighting style.” Lloyd informed the duo with his eyes covered.
“We’re dressed, you idiot,” Lady informed her twin.
“I am not peeping into a girl’s room, especially your room, Sis,” Lloyd answered while Garmadon the cat came in and hopped onto the lap of his owner.
“To be continued.”
The girls then left for the dojo.
