Idols in love

Summary:

The love wasn’t one-sided either, though no one knew that. Except maybe Seok—and his search history. That’s how he ended up watching videos from Kenny’s lives.

Notes:

Kenny’s lives inspired me. And honestly, I felt like there’s way too little fanfiction in this fandom.

I hope you’ll enjoy it. Happy reading!

Work Text:

It all started with Kenny’s TikTok lives. When he spent hours reading fanfictions about himself—mostly the ones that paired him with Seok.
Of course, an idol wasn’t supposed to do things like this publicly, but Kenny had never cared about that. In truth, he only cared about two things: music and Seok.
Whether it was smart to fall in love with your bandmate was another question entirely, but feelings can’t really be controlled anyway.
He didn’t want to confess to anyone, afraid he’d hurt the band or lose Seok, but he wasn’t very good at hiding it. After all, he called him his husband and his boyfriend.
Every member of the band had figured it out except the one who actually should have. The North Korean had always assumed Kenny was just joking and didn’t want to be delulu.
The love wasn’t one-sided either, though no one knew that. Except maybe Seok—and his search history. That’s how he ended up watching videos from Kenny’s lives.
First he stumbled across American baby name ideas. He silently prayed Kenny wasn’t serious about them. He wouldn’t have liked it at all if their child ended up being named Knee-Hao. Not that there was any chance of that anyway, since as far as Seok knew, Kenny felt nothing for him.
Then he saw a video where Kenny was reading fanfiction. He loved listening to his voice. It was so calming, so homey. And that beautiful smile—he could’ve watched it forever.
“Nathan? Why would I sleep with Nathan?? Ew”—he watched Kenny through the screen.
Someone as charming as him… he would never find again.

In the next video, Kenny was clutching an orange peach plushie while lying in a blue sweater. Seok couldn’t deny that he wished he were the plushie.
But was he allowed to wish that? He was a man, and so was Kenny. How could the American be so brave about all this? He’d always envied how free he was.
Seok kept watching the videos a little longer before going to sleep, and that night—as always—it was a pair of enchanting American eyes that greeted him as he drifted off.
---------

Days started passing, and they became harder and harder for Kenny without Seok. Sure, they talked on the phone every day, but it wasn’t the same as being face-to-face. He enjoyed spending time with his fans, but he longed to be with him.
But really, what options did he have?
None.
His schedule was packed while they were on different continents.
But nothing would ever stop Kenny from seeing his husband. So he kept pushing his manager until they finally let him go to Korea for a few days.
But since he didn’t want Seok to misunderstand and think he was going back just for him, he needed to come up with an excuse. Luckily, one of his friends’ birthdays was coming up, so he had a fake reason ready.
“I’m flying to Korea tomorrow,” he told Seok over the phone.
“Really? How come? I thought you guys were super busy.”
“Yeah… but one of my friends has a birthday. I thought I’d surprise her.”
A huge smile spread across Seok’s face when he heard that. Finally, he could be with him again.
“If I’m already there, I was thinking maybe we could hang out one of the days,” the American offered, and Seok agreed immediately.
The next morning, Kenny boarded a plane. The flight was long, but he didn’t regret a single minute of it. Seok tried to convince him not to meet that day so he could rest, but Kenny couldn’t be convinced. As soon as he landed, he headed straight toward Seok’s place, stopping only to buy lunch. What he didn’t know was that the Korean man had been cooking for hours for him. So when Kenny arrived, he felt a bit guilty. “Hi. It’s good to see you again,” he greeted Seok with a warm hug. That’s when he noticed the table full of food. Kenny froze and stepped back, which made Seok glance down at the older man’s hand—finally noticing the takeout bag.
“I’m so sorry, Seok. I didn’t know you were cooking. Otherwise I wouldn’t have brought anything. I’m sorry.”
“Don’t worry. It’s fine. I just wanted you to be able to rest after such a long trip, so I wanted to spare you from having to go buy food,” Seok reassured him.
Kenny apologized a few more times over the next minutes.
After eating, they curled up on the couch to watch a movie.

“So… whose birthday is tomorrow?” Seok asked during the movie.
“Soojin’s. You know, the one with really long hair.”
“Oh, right. And what are your plans?”
“Me, her, and her girlfriend are going to a restaurant.”
Seok raised an eyebrow. “Girlfriend?”
“Yeah.”
They both turned more toward each other.
“And you think that’s okay?”
“What? That she has a girlfriend? Of course. Why, do you not?”
Kenny started to worry a little. Why was Seok asking him things like this? Was he maybe homophobic? Maybe he already assumed Kenny liked him, but if he also judged him for it, that would make things even worse.
“No, no… I think it’s fine. I just…”
“Just?” Kenny grew more curious.
“Nothing. I was just interested in your opinion on the topic.”
Kenny turned fully toward him.
“Tell me—would you kiss someone who wasn’t a woman?” As much as he liked him, Kenny was afraid of the consequences.
“I don’t know.”
Kenny moved his hand closer and gently touched Seok’s.
“Would you kiss me?”
Seok froze completely. How could Kenny ask something like that so casually? As if it were the most natural thing in the world. Of course he would kiss him. There was nothing he wanted more in that moment—but what if Kenny was just joking? But joke about *this*?
“Yes…”
You only live once, right?
They both started leaning closer. Kenny’s fingers slid into Seok’s hair. Seok placed his hand on Kenny’s shoulder—until their lips finally met.
